We adopted our Morgan at 11 months 11.5 years ago from DVGRR. Great experience then. Our Morgan crossed the rainbow bridge recently. We are going back tomorrow 8/18 to adopt two more. Preliminary research, reports, and discussions as we as DVGRR'S vetting of our property and experience have led us to our trip from Virginia to meet our hopeful new companions. Upon arrival at DVGRR, we were greeted by a team of associates who took us first to a large fenced grassy area to see how well our choice of a 2 year old male and female got along. The match was perfect. We then went to the adoption room to read and agree to the DVGRR terms and conditions. We page through professionally prepared 3 ring, tabbed binders with extensive reports, certificates, and licenses. The next stop was the DVGRR pet store to stock up on leashes, harnesses, food, and logo shirts and hats. All profits go to the rescue of more Golden Retrievers and Golden Doodles. We paid an adoption fee that covered about 2/3 of the veterinary costs to bring each of our new companions to an excellent medical condition. That included spayer and neutering, all vaccinations and required shots, all of which were fully documented in our 3 ring binders for our own Vet to review. We made a donation to cover those costs on 2 more rescues. We were amazed at the generosity of private donors who gave so much to help fund the long-term capability of DVGRR.We are so grateful to Dennis. Karen, Alex, Kyle and all of the team who put this adoption process together as well as day to day staff and volunteers who do such a great job at making these adoptions such a wonderful experiences for the Goldens and new owners alike.

We recently adopted Tinsel / Tilly (new name) from Dvgrr. Zack was an absolute pleasure to work with and the facility was extremely clean. The staff was super friendly and also knowledgable. My wife and I were very impressed with the "go home" packet and bag for the dog as it had all the information we needed to ensure that Tilly had a smooth transition. Zack spent a good amount of time ensuring that we found a dog that would be a right fit for our home and Tilly was absolutely a perfect addition to our family! I highly recommend working with Dvgrr. Absolutely amazing staff and facility.

Awesome organization! We have adopted 2 dogs from DVGRR with great success. Their staff continue to follow up and offer guidance and support thru the organization’s newsletter and website. If you are looking to adopt a golden retriever, stop by DVGRR.

This place is FANTASTIC. They take such good care of these precious dogs and are very thorough with caretaking. We had an appointment with Dennis. He was awesome and had everything ready to go and plenty of options for us. We never felt pressured and they made sure we had as much time as we needed to make a decision. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to adopt. Thank you SO much DVGRR!!

We were so blessed to have adopted our girl from DVGRR in November. The entire experience was great - from the application to following up after the adoption. Everyone was responsive, informative and deeply cares for the animals in their charge. I can't say enough about this special organization. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking to adopt a golden.

They take amazing care of the pups and take the time to ensure you find the dogs that’s right for you and your family. We absolutely love our rescue & plan to adopt from there for a long time. Totally worth the 2 hour trip from Baltimore!

We had the most awesome experience adopting our dog, Vicki, from this rescue. It is the best of the best. There couldn't be any better care of the rescue dogs. They are the most helpful and patient when matching a rescue dog to the dog you already have.

We have adopted 2 dogs here over the last 15 years; a 7 year old golden and a 1 year old golden and both dogs became cherished members of our family. You can be confident that everything has been done to make sure your dog is ready for your home.

They are no doubt an amazing rescue and they run a very successful non-profit business model by charging, on average, $850 adoption fee for a dog, plus $51 of sales tax. Let's just say, if you can't fork over $901 for a dog adoption, you probably not a good person to own a golden retriever/lab retriever/or a mix of these breeds. They tend to be larger dogs who eat and need medical attention a lot. When I first applied in the winter of 2017, I had to go there 3 times for the monthly meet and greet (3-hr drive for every round trip) before they finally gave me a dog. I can only tell you, this rescue is aiming for dog owner(s) who has/have the money to keep the dog healthy until his/her final days, a love for the lab/golden breed, and is/are willing to work with a rescue dog. At the end, they gave me a perfect golden retriever and she has been my rock throughout the years. Currently, I am a foster to a Baltimore local rescue (wings of love, Kuwait) that helps dogs from Kuwait to get adopted in the USA. My DVGRR dog Sierra, who is an Amish breeding dog survivor taught all my Kuwaiti foster dogs about how to be a dog again in this wonderful country.

Over the past 35 years we have adopted from several rescue organizations, for several breeds, and the experience has been positive for the most part. We adopted a Goldendoodle named Maggie on April 5, 2019 from DVGRR and the experience was, and continues to be the best of all. The staff is exceptional, and the love they have for the pups in their care is obvious. They take some of the worst cases of abuse and neglect and work with the dogs and the perspective owner to assure a proper fit. There are no words to express my gratitude for the privilege of being Maggie’s forever home. I primarily worked with Zack, who is awesome. I have read some reviews saying that the adoption fees are too expensive. I don’t agree, and I think anyone that cares for dogs as much as we do, would agree. It ensures that the dogs are going to a home that will care for them and not toss them out if they don’t meet expectations. Training a puppy mill mom is not easy. It takes lots of love, patience, and consistency. If you are expecting a well socialized dog that has no baggage, you should probably buy a puppy from a reputable breeder!

Dealing with this Rescue is a delight. They are knowledgeable, compassionate & totally up front about the dogs offered for adoption as well as the prospective ‘owners’ needs. The facility offers plenty of playtime for the dogs that are are waiting for just the right homes & are spotless. If a new home doesn’t work out, the dogs are welcome back to try again. You will not mind paying the adoption fee as soon as you come to meet & greet these lovely people who dedicate their lives to help the dogs live a long, happy life.

We got our almost 6 month old puppy from here. He came from a puppy mill. DVGRR did so well with his training that he has been very easy to settle in with our home. His temperament is amazing and they did all the necessary testing and socializing that he would need to be in a home with our 3 young children. Zack, the adoption specialist, worked with us on our timeline for adoption. We would gladly adopt from them again! We love Jasper!

I just adopted my 5th dog from DVGRR last month. My first dog was adopted in 2012. I was immediately impressed with this rescue organization for the amount of care that went into each of the dogs that comes into their safe keeping. The health and mental well being is first and foremost for all the dogs. The care continues no matter how long the dog remains in their care. They also offer follow up support once the dog is adopted. Our dogs have been Goldens, Labradors and the Golden hearted. I have been so impressed by their work and mission I became a volunteer and I am an active supporter. If you’re looking for a Golden, Labrador, Goldendoodle or Labradoodle and even some Golden hearted dogs, I recommend you check out DVGRR.

Great organization! Been a supporter for a few years and adopted my first rescue from DVGRR in 2020. Thankfully the breeder knew about DVGRR when they couldn’t sell Gidget due to a heart murmur. I hate to think what would have happened to my sweet Gidget otherwise. Five stars to their program and team!

Not sure about this place. They ask for money / donation when you apply then heard nothing. If don’t want to adopt, fine, I won’t get mad, but at least tell me why

Horrible place with rude and manipulative staff. The say they are doing what is in the best interest of the dog, but really they are only interested in profiting from adoption fees. I have many regrets dealing with this place, but I'll learn from them and move on.
