DO NOT SUPPORT THIS SHELTER. This place needs to be shut down or needs new people running it. They make everything look shiny and amazing on the outside but on the inside they euthanize dogs for the SMALLEST DUMBEST reasons. They wanted to euthanize a small dog because she was playing with a child & was play biting the child’s feet WHILE THEY WERE UNDER A BLANKET. The dog needed training not to be euthanized for that. IT WAS PLAYING. They turn away so many animals and then have the audacity to euthanize friendly dogs when they have so much money and so much space!!!!This shelter is pathetic. They don’t accommodate the animals in any way, they don’t care about them. There is no staff making sure the dogs get walked. dogs go MONTHS without getting out of there kennels. They don’t even have fosters for these dogs. How are you this huge of an operation and have 0 fosters?! They don’t put in the work FOR THE DOGS, just to get more money in there own pockets. It’s disgusting. Don’t support them or surrender your pets here, they won’t make it out.

We went on Saturday 2/17 to adopt Maddie . We had our first meet and greet and we had our 5 yr old grandson with and he approached her slowly and she snapped at him. She was great otherwise. We took her for a walk and she did great. We drove the whole way down today Sunday 2/18 and sitting in the parking lot get a phone call We can not have her. She has been in the shelter for a month. How would you be cooped in a pen for a month and people are willing to give you a loving home and they will not allow you to have her because of one episode..My recommendation is do not take any children with you to meet a dog and it has a bad reaction to the child, they will deny you.She mentioned that because my husband had on camouflage she reacted . I do not believe that.We wanted to talk to the manager directly and we were told it is her day off and she is with family and can not be bothered to talk to us. She will call me on Monday. Not acceptable. We have adopted several dogs from the Humane League in Lancaster with no problems. Now poor Maddie will probably be put down because she is a pit bull and she could hsve gone to a loving home but no, We are being penalized because we have small grandkids who do not live with us and visit every now and then.I hope this opens some eyes and people think twice before adopting from there. You have people willing to give a loving forever home but no. Why were we not called yesterday to say we could not have her and save us from the drive down. I was told on the telephone she is good with children when I called originally to see if she was available and because of one episode. We can't have her.I am very frustrated because I fell hard for her and now being told I can not have her breaks my heart.Heart broken.Tania TrimbleUpdate:As of 2/21/24, have not heard a word from the manager of the Reading office and Maddie is no longer on the website. I hope she got her forever home and not the other option for pit bulls. I will no longer support the Humane League or give any further donations if thus us the way they treat potential customers and homes for their pets.

Evil vile people run this shelter. I worked here for 6 months and volunteered for 2 years, I seen everything. All they care about is money, not helping these dogs. They claim to be a no kill shelter but euthanize pitbulls that have only been there for a few months that are healthy and non aggressive. They don’t even evaluate the dogs they are euthanizing. The COO who makes the decision to euthanize: Damon. Doesn’t even spend two seconds with these dogs. He doesn’t even meet them just euthanizes. What fed me up the most was a pitbull I got to know who they said they were euthanizing and once I threatened to take it to social media they said they wanted to “save her” so they said she went to rescue. When I followed up with her I found out they had euthanized her. They tried to lie about it and be shady. Do not support a disgusting place shelter like this and do not surrender your pits here

I took my dog Harlow to Healthy Pets Walk-in Clinic for an Annual Exam, Microchip, and vaccinations. Although the wait was longer than I hoped the total cost was much less than I would have paid at my old veterinarian. The staff was very friendly and professional. I was really impressed with Dr. Connolly and how she managed to keep my dog happy while she was given her exam and vaccinations. My neighbors and friends from our dog play group were right when they said you and Harlow will be very pleased.

Do not surrender your pitbulls/bullies here and do not bring stray pitbulls here. They euthanize them just because they are harder to adopt out and don’t want to use the millions of dollars they get in donations on the dogs just want to pocket it all. These pitbulls they euthanized were not aggressive and they know it, that’s why they try to cover it up. Shame on humane Pennsylvania

If you love pitbulls do not support this shelter. They euthanize completely nonagressive pits/bully breeds. and they hide it from everyone so they don’t lose the money in there pocket. It’s horrible and they need to be exposed. They are not the amazing “life saving shelter” they claim to be. Don’t let them fool you they know it’s wrong and they don’t care. Claimed a completely sweet pitbull went to “rescue” but really they euthanized her. Lied to there staff, lied to there volunteers. How do you live with yourself? You’re disgusting

Truly terrifying what goes on here, a healthy happy dog has been “rescued” & “housed” by these vile people. Just to be euthanized. Honestly disgusting.. couldn’t be more heart broken over this. This place NEEDS to be shut down immediately. These animals need help.

Our dog was suffering, couldn't even stand up and she was in pain and this place said we had to make an appt to get her in to put her down which was 2 days away because they said they were booked. The word Humane should not be on their building cause there was nothing humane about making a dog suffer 2 more days to be put down especially in the condition our Dixie was in

I believe that dogs there are getting euthanized for minimal behaviors .. I feel that there should be a trainer working with the dogs.. if a dogs not good with children, why would you send the dog to a family with children and blame the dog because humans or a child have messed them up.. if you’re going to get money donated to your shelter, a large portion should go to trainers who are rehabilitating them dogs to get them in the right homes..😔 the dog sit for weeks with nonstop, barking, and get stressed out!

would rate this place a zero if possible, they take beautifully, healthy, non aggressive dogs and euthanize them after a couple months of not being adopted because they don’t want to spend the time finding them the homes they need.

I thought this place was wonderful for taking in animals that didn't have homes. Then they became a no kill shelter and I thought it was great. But I called them because I had many cases of cat food that my cat wouldn't eat anymore, but the woman was very unfriendly and said we don't pick up anything, because we don't do that. I'm disabled and don't drive. She offered me no suggestions for what I could do with all this cat food either. I called a couple times about cats I've seen in my area that came to me and were friendly and lost, but they didn't seem to care and wouldn't do anything about it. They constantly complain about not having enough food, etc. for the animals. Now I don't know what to do with this food and I don't know anyone that has a cat. It seems like they only care about making money with the veterinarian clinic that they charge an arm any for. So I have to question what this place is really all about? Shame on you guys!

Amazing Dr, staff and receptionists. The only thing I have to complain about is the amount of knats flying around in there. It really is a nuisance, I can't sit and relax while waiting without constantly to have swat away knats. makes my skin crawl.

My cat has been missing since Nov. 8th, and I feel like they just do not care. while searching for my cat I saw a cat that I would consider adopting, and they did get back to me with a basic electronic email. I do not feel like they care.

They do great job taking care of the animals to what I’ve seen but when bringing in rescues I’ve seen they don’t really listen to you as well as just changing their names when you have already established one for the rescued animals you can’t keep , they seemed judgmental. I’ll still go visit the animals through because they aren’t the issue.

I stopped in to see a cat that I brought in as a stray. I became attached and I am considering adopting him. They would not allow me to see him.Do they want a good home for him?wanted me to fill out forms first. Just wanted to interact with him first.
