Shaggy Maggy's is great. We've been taking Piper here for as long as they have been open and she is always excited for her pampering. Jess and the staff go above and beyond and we are grateful to have such a phenomenal groomer here in the Northside.

Please read before booking! I have taken my dog to Shaggy Maggy’s Paw Spa about 5 times for same service (bath and hair cut) and have always had a great experience!! Jess the owner is absolutely amazing and some of the groomers are wonderful!! Our last visit was with Alicia. I picked our dog up and she informed he might be shaking his ears- that’s normal with trims. The level of shaking and imbalance walking when he got out of the car immediately alerted me. Looking in his ear we noticed blood inside ear and on the tips of the ears along with swelling. In panic we drove back to the groomers and talked to Alicia who proceeded to tell us this is normal and due to our dog shaking his ears a lot- it is called Hematoma. Alicia apologized our dog was experiencing that and that it's totally normal to happen. The other groomer, who was helping another dog, stepped in and said she would take our information for Jess and Jess could refund us. We informed them we were going to the vet for confirmation because what Alicia was saying did not feel right in my gut. It was the worst day to take off work because I had deadlines and meetings- but we were so stressed we knew we needed to get him to the vet. We went to Pet Well Clinic walk in clinic in Robinson. The staff and vet Dr. Thomas were incredible!! They informed us our dogs ears were plucked horribly (the worst case they have ever seen) even into his ear canal. He had no matting by the way! They confirmed the bottom of his ears were sliced/cut. Due to all of this he was shaking his ears from discomfort and it was either swelling from cuts or in progress of Hematoma. The vet explained if it gets worse and develops into oral hematoma he will need drains. Oral Hematoma is not life threatening but intensely painful and surgery is expensive. They said no ear infection- this was result of horrible grooming. Our dog is on antibiotic and anti-infammatory. He gets 15 minute frozen veggies on each ear to help with swelling. We were in full panic mode crying the way home. Jess, the owner, called us promptly and was genuinely sorry and concerned. She paid the vet bill, refunded us, and gave us non shaking head wraps that have been a life saver! Jess said she would talk with Alicia. Our dogs ear swelling is going down. He is still so miserable, resting a lot and still not himself. As a parent it is horrible to see your baby go through something that should never have happened!!! I have nothing bad to say about Shaggy Maggys Paw Spa or Jess (the owner) or other awesome groomers- I made this review to warn you all specifically of booking with Alicia and hope this never happens to anyones dog in the future!

The cat was cut in several places, claws were seemingly trimmed with regular scissors because they were still sharp, and fur was uneven. The lion cut was incomplete. This is just one experience. I'm sure they do many animals and have many good performances. You judge. I don't plan on returning with my cat though.

Just took my dog here for the first time today and was so happy with the experience. My pup is very anxious and has to be muzzled for nail trims, but the team at Maggy's handled her so well. And I love the ease of using the online booking system. We will certainly be booking again soon!

One of the BEST groomers I've ever been to. Our dog usually cries and complains at the groomer but not here! He barely wants to come home when it's pickup time. We love Shaggy Maggy's, they are flexible and communicative, I'm so glad we found this GEM of a groomer here in Pittsburgh.

Amazing ladies and amazing service! My dog becomes very nervous and anxious when his nails are cut due to bad past experiences with other groomers. He won’t let me touch his feet with nail clippers and these great ladies had my dogs nails cut in 3 minutes flat. They knew just how to reassure my anxious dog. All the staff was super friendly and conversational, I couldn’t recommend a place more!
