My boyfriend can fix cars and even has a lift, but he’s so busy and I didn’t want to inconvenience him. So, I took my car to Pep Boys for a simple oil change. What problems could that cause?I was at Pep Boys for an hour, and the car was given a clean bill of health. As I drove home, I thought I could smell something, but I wasn’t sure. The next day as I sat in rush hour traffic, my car smelled so bad that I had to put the windows down. I texted my boyfriend who knew exactly what was wrong. He told me to turn the motor off and pop the hood. The oil cap was never replaced, and oil was EVERYWHERE.I called Pep Boys, and they told me to call 1-800-PEP-BOYS and have the car towed in. I waited for two hours until the estimated arrival time had passed, saw that a tow truck still wasn’t even dispatched, and drove the car to Pep Boys myself. By this time, they were closed for the day.The next day around 1:30 pm, the car was ready for pickup. My boyfriend drove me there, went in with me, and asked me to pop the hood when we returned to the car. I popped the hood, and he immediately went back into the store. I didn’t understand what was happening because the hood was still down. Apparently, he saw the front of the car shift when I pulled the hood release because they didn’t bother replacing the clips they removed. The car was still covered in oil in many places, and a man came out to replace the clips and remove additional oil.I was two hours late for my second job, missed a whole day of work the next day at my first job, and was compensated with two free oil changes in the future. Who in their right mind would return to Pep Boys after that???The employee told me that hardly anyone does Google reviews for them anymore, so here’s your Google review. Pep Boys - some assembly required. 🙄

This is the best pep boys I have been coming to for years. They are all fantastic. This is a great place to get anything done with your car. The customer service is wonderful as well. I’m so appreciative of all they do. Definitely go here if you are having car troubles!

I had a great experience here. when my work van broke down. They quickly fit me in for a repair, and technicians John and Tyler were superb. They diagnosed the problem efficiently. They were exceptionally thorough, and explained everything they were doing very clearly providing me with great peace of mind. Their customer service was top-notch. Thanks to their expertise, my van is running smoothly again. I highly recommend

Wonderful service! I couldn't get my license plate off because the screws were old and rusty. I called to ask if they could help and was told to stop by. He was busy and still made time to help. He had to get tools out to finally get the screws moving. Super service and really nice guy.

This Pep Boys is by far the best place to take your vehicle for service. Very Transparent and extremely honest about your vehicle issues. They are very helpful and polite. Any future issues I have with my vehicle, south hills Pep Boys will be my choice. Thanks a million guys, keep up the Great Job. FYI Jim is one of the best mechanics I've ever had. Had a nail in my tire right before my son’s 17th birthday party on a weekend and my tire’s air pressure was going down quickly. They got me in right away and solved the problem when my normal mechanic wouldn’t answer my call on the weekends. They were very professional and saved the day for my kid's’ birthday. Forever thankful.

I had booked an appointment to get my brakes fixed but needed it done sooner. I went in a day earlier than the appointment I had and the experience was wonderful. Had an Advisor who listened well to what the issues were, made suggestions, checked the car, and most importantly gave discount on the final bill!

Update: Pepboys called me and they are repairing my wheels. Process was fast. I’m giving 3 stars because they took care, and mistakes happen. If you going there make sure a good tech take care of your car.Please if you care for your car RUN from this place!!!I have a really nice Type R and for those who doesnt know is a limited production performance car. I am very jealous with it and i take very good care of it. I needed some tires to get me trough winter time, so i took my oem wheels to install some all seasons tires. For some reason the scratched every single one of them MULTIPLE TIMES instead of stopping!! I couldve go to another shop but they kept going. To make it worst, when i go next day, same guy dare to tell me that is curb rash and his machine is PLASTIC LOL. I told them to not go down that road, i have a lot of pictures of my car and is obviuos that i take very good care of it. Thank God im in no need to try to get money out of Pepboys, i can go and buy them new but they need to take care of this because is too munch!!! tomorow it can be you! Ill keep everyone posted to see how this ends.

Went in for my service appointment and waited for 2 people to get off their phones to help me. After a little while one was kind enough to get off their phone and assist me. While waiting I overheard the one telling the other she can't wait to get her driver's license back from being suspended- for a YEAR! I was shocked that people can be hired in this field without having a current license.

I had 4 seized up valve stem caps I couldn’t get off. Took my truck here and not only did they fix it, they made it way more cheaper than I would have thought. I was fully prepared for them to cut all 4 of my valve stems and possibly replace all TPMS systems in my truck. They must’ve taken their time and really tried because they only had to replace 2 valve stems only. I was prepared to spend $300+. These guys had out the door for $25. You will absolutely gain my business again. Thank you guys.

Store is typically busy, got me in and out as quick as possible for a flat repair. Also noticed I needed some wipers which I forgot. They got me back on the road in reasonable time seeing through the rain and no more leak! Thank you!

Everyone here was fantastic! My car broke down the day before Christmas Eve. I took it here for service. They were able to get it fixed just in time for me to pick it up, so that my family would have a car for Christmas travels. And the price wasn't bad either! Thank you so much!

One more edit then I'm done I guess. They emailed me once after my last update. They wanted to call me, i said i prefer to deal with everything through email so I have a record of whats said/done and what not. . . Welp, no answer to that email. Guess they had planned on getting me to take this down with no resolution, who knows. Better off taking your car to a circus and having the elephants change your tires.Another edit. 12 days after sending the email someone contacts me once I mention on here about the survey being a scam and what not. . I was contacted by the store manager which I'm sure would result in me being offered a gift card to go back to the same location so they can finish ruining my wheels. I'll wait til someone a little higher up contacts me. Not looking for compensation, but I know companies brush this under the rug. I'll go to actual wheel shops from now on and not this chain that hires folks who can barely do an oil change.Edit since posting. Followed the directions of the response from pepboys. Heard nothing back, they sent me a survey today asking if anyone has followed up, I selected no, didn't let me submit and now the survey is unavailable. That's about what I expected.Called in advance to make sure they were ok with putting on low profile tires. . . I was assured they were beyond capable. it's like Edward scissorhands was back there. I'ma need a whole new set of wheels now. Scratched and chipped. . Must have been careless with the socket just smacking it off everything. Have chips all along the outer edge.

Worst tire buying experience I ever had. Never again.Well, I sent a message to pepsocial@pepboys last week, and just what I figured. No reply from Pep Boys.In short. Our appointment was a 3pm. Tires weren't even delivered to the store yet. Manager never kept us up to date on progress and why the delay and what was going on. After 2 hours wait, our car was still in the parking lot. Manager was very rude to my wife when she asked if our car would be done soon (it wasn't even in the shop yet). The original work order stated I wanted new TPMS units when tires were installed. They were NEVER installed. Manager took it upon herself to not complete the request. Instead, she told me when we were checking out, to purchase the TPMS;s from Amazon or Ebay. They would be cheaper than what Pep Boys would sell them to me for. WHAT! . NOW!!! I have to purchase them on line, have then shipped, drive car 32 miles round trip, have all four tires broken down, TPMS installed, remount four tires and balance. Yah!! Thats cost and time effective! and not what I asked to be done. Now I have to still look at the orange tire light on my dash. If that manager worked for me! She'd be looking for another job. Especially talking rude to a customer, not completing the request work, telling the customer to purchase a part from another person other than who she worked for. Never again Pep BoysWorst tire purchase experience ever.

I always bring my car here to be serviced, and I haven’t had a bad experience. The staff here are great and welcoming and in my opinion, fast workers as I never feel like I wait too long for my car. I will always bring my car here as long as I can !

My wife stopped in a couple weeks ago to have snow tires put on her car. Should have been an in and out sort of thing, but took hours upon hours with zero communication from the employees. Finally someone said the machine was down and they were having problems. That was annoying but not a huge deal… they then proceeded to rush and slam through the job as fast as possible and frankly got sloppy. They told her if the TPMS light didn’t go off after a while to come back in. It didn’t after a day or so. We checked the pressure in the tires, which should have been right about 35psi. One was at 34.5 which was fine, but the rest… one was at 30.5, one at 28 and one at 29. Beyond sloppy and kinda dangerous on their end.I filled them all to the proper level and we’ve been checking every other day or so with an accurate pressure gauge and they’ve held steady at that number. The light remained on though and with the holidays and some family things going on she hadn’t had time to get back out and have them look until this morning.They proceed to tell her they’re not working and they’ll need to determine if it was their fault (they’d repair for free) or if they were already broken and not working (they’d charge her). Wanna guess which route they went?? Mind you there were ZERO issues with these TPMS sensors before they touched the car, absolutely none. But magically two of the four suddenly had the battery die at that exact same time and moment, and she was on the hook for them as they claimed it wasn’t them, but they’d be kind enough to save her $5 in repair fees that were normally over $120. And yes, batteries do die in these units, but it’s beyond suspect that both were totally fine and operational before this crew worked on the car and that they both magically ran out of juice at the exact same moment when they were messing with them.These clowns damaged them in their rush changing out the tires last visit on top of not properly filling the tires and then played silly games and gave her the run around. Avoid these scam artists like they plague they are. If you look at other reviews on here you’ll see plenty with evidence of them being sloppy and doing shoddy work.

This place is well informed and can usually fix any issue that I am having with my car. Pricing is good to, I never feel like I am being ripped off, But it is dreadfully slow, the most recent time being the slowest with such a simple problem.

I can't say they're the best around; I have no basis to judge their work. What I can say is their honest enough to tell me what I don't need, even if it costs them a sale. Excellent guys in my opinion.

Got a flat tire while shopping at Century 3. I panicked but was able to make it to Pep Boys. Turns out I had a nail in my tire (ugh). They were able to get me in and get a patch on within 20 minutes of me showing up and they were already really busy. I appreciated it SO much!
