It's probably the busiest Giant Eagle I've been to, being in a residential area. The produce area is right at the entrance and it's very narrow and gets packed, after this first obstacle course the store opens up a bit but it's definitely a bit frustrating shopping here. The entrance of the store is also narrow and creates kind of a bottleneck when busy. The parking entrance is on the street parallel Murray Ave and it's not too large but there shouldn't be issues finding a spot. It's the best choice for groceries in the area but I'm glad I don't live around because I'd probably hate grocery shopping.

Thanks to the night shift cashier at Giant Eagle Supermarket. I had difficult time at the self check out machine. He came to help me get through quickly.

Expensive, dirty, cramped and a poor selection. Produce is just on the shelf wilting 🥀. Got a bag of potatoes that didn’t even last a week. Workers are nice at least.Just get the 64 bus and go to Aldi or just hit up Panda Mart on Forbes.

It's a small giant eagle but that's not problem since they have a decent produce section. Problem is the employees at the bakery, deli and a meat area so darn rude not funny. Thankfully I'm not far from East liberty I can go to Shakespeare st GE or other markets.

At least 7-8 of the ginger roots in the display were completely moldy and the garlic bulbs weren’t much better- picked the best of the bunch and when I unpeeled it half of the cloves were completely rotted out

Giant Eagle always comes through for my shopping needs. Fresh produce, meats , seafood, bakery goods, prepared food items , a variety of staples for the kitchen, merchandise for the household, and more.

Nice small well stocked cozy nice workers exception is the rude older lady who happens to be black she treats other black ppl rudely. Even in front of the managers. Heard her say you gonna steal that.

It feels more like a small community grocery story vs. a chain like Giant Eagle which is good as it fits the area well.If you driving here good luck parking is terrible in this area overall and you are better served walking here or coming with your bike.I have a cargo bike and it's easy to find a spot for that.In terms of what it's like inside it's smaller but it's well stocked. The produce section had a nice variety of products and the store overall was pleasant. They didn't have many cashiers working the day I was there so there was a bit of a wait to checkout but it was only 15 minutes which isn't too bad.So in regards to a Giant Eagle it's a solid one.

Wish I could give it 0 stars. I shopped here about 4 years ago before returning to the area. I had already given up on the pharmacy there. You wait 35 minutes for a medication (NON-scheduled substance) that was called in days ago but never filled. One was an antibiotic I very much needed. All I can say is; I wish we could just kick people out of my hospital or my place of employment I’m currently at 10 minutes prior to closing. The attitude and rudeness is disgusting. The selection is already poor. I had gone here because I don’t finish work until just before they close. But after being yelled at as if I were literally stealing something tonight, I’ll be heading to the Waterfront Giant Eagle prior to my work day. Or Aldi’s. We stay 40 minutes past our closing time at my job as a service to our customers. These people were running out of the store before me at 9:58. There was one very kind young male who used to do the announcements (which happen every 3 minutes to get you out of there) and was very friendly about it, but I’m not sure what happened to him. He was probably too kind. Are there no managers in the evening, or are they, too without any ounce of compassion, humanity, or consideration?? I’m constantly feeling like an intrusion on their work day, as if they can’t be bothered while getting paid. The security guard is the only kind person there. The rest should find a job with no person-to-person interaction whatsoever. The cashier tonight literally sighed loudly and threw my stuff, grumbling about last minute and that I should add extra money to his register. I would’ve been fired from every job within the last 16 years for that reprehensible attitude. I literally picked up 5 items after my own 10 hour work day. I won’t be back. This shouldn’t be allowed. What a disgrace.

Three stars is me being generous. I find my experience here to be consistently uneven. Either very professional, or utterly inept. Checkers who don't know what Swiss chard or radicchio is. 40 minute waits for the pharmacy. I refuse to buy anything at all, ever, from the travesty that is the fish counter. The produce is usually good. Meats are okay. Employees are typically friendly. It's a folksy place, but no one understood how to wear their mask during the epidemic. It's been amusing to see how they have been dealing with the plastic bag ban. Once upon a time, they would basically give you one bag for every item purchased.

I am appalled at #1 at the pricing, #2 the small limited selection, and #3 the so called security that's sits outside and watches bad behavior. I told a couple of college girls. It's better to get a uber, Go to walmart in north for sales, Stock up For the month, They would save so much money. I told them to compare the prices online and see the difference. This store is priced way to high

Went here while in Squirrel Hill. Hard to find due to parking behind storefront on busy street. Store is nice with a lot of great options for food types

I lived across the street 20years ago with a college-girlfriend And I returned to this GE for the first time last Sunday. I was impressed to see that this quite small shop is still vibrant, well-kept, clean, and also... was very pleased to see armed security there also. (not pleased that society has degraded to require this, but pleased that the business is thoughtful of such.)

Caveat: we're visiting from out of state. But the prices seemed high, and I know a relative who lives in Pittsburgh shops at Aldi alot, probably for better value. Also if you don't have a Giant Eagle membership, they charge more than the price marked in the aisle, which is annoying. They have their own parking lot, which is good.

I went inside the store for a money order. I messed up so I came back for a second time to see if I am able to correct it. As I’m at the counter, the customer service guy kept signaling with his eyes, the security guard. I felt uncomfortable because all I’m asking is questions.

Rated vegetable section: Unkept section; resulted poor samples. Apparently, veggies and cooled shelves suffer from neglect. Miscellaneous non-veggie items get stocked in different sections of store. Must have a store card to use self-serve cashier machine -extremely inconvenient w/out card if buying couple items results longer wait time in other 'non-card' lanes.

The customer service was fantastic!! Helped me find powdered hot chocolate. Alas I could not find tofurkey so perhaps the signage could be improved but this is possibly an issue across all Giant Eagles rather than this single location. Easy to get to by bus.

Good super market. You can get the essentials, and they have plenty self check out. The parking lot is big and spacious. It does get busy at times, but never as busy as market place giant eagle. Make sure to get their membership, their pharmacy has a discount program that makes meds very affordable to the locals.

Produce is always on the wrong edge of fresh. Decent ethnic selection in a pinch. Watch out in the meat section for mislabelled products.

After living here for years I’ve finally had enough of this Giant Eagle. I only go here for the pharmacy or grabbing a couple things and praying I won’t be in line for 30-40 minutes. I don’t have any issue using self checkouts, I prefer it, but these seem to break and give me a problem more than any other store. There’s usually one cashier, two if you’re lucky. The checkout belts are so short you can’t load your groceries while they finish the person in the front of you which slows you down. If you don’t have someone with you to bag on self checkout and an employee isn’t there to do it, you have to scan and then periodic go bag so the belt doesn’t clog up. Takes forever. You spend more time standing in line than shopping most of the time. I’m not even surprised anymore when the lines are down the entire grocery aisle. It’s a common sight.Only gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the I have no issue with the food itself and my experience with the pharmacy has always been good.

I needed a few thing's so this Market District Giant Eagle happened to be the closest store at the time. The store is very clean is the first thing I noticed, and the number of employees that are working in and around the store makes it easier for me to maneuver, because I've never really did grocery shopping there.

I like this store quite a bit. It's smaller than others and I think it has a good selection. I'm grateful to the employees. However, I do think there's a problem w/ the panhandlers. I was in the store about 10 days ago and this one guy was confronting people when they came in and seemed very angry when they didn't give. I know people have needs, but some people make a career of this. There's one older lady I've seen at Target, Home Depot and Aldi with the same fake story. Last time I saw her she would only take $20! Outside of her, I often give a buck or 2 because I had a brother on the street years ago, but my income is limited and I'm absolutely not interacting with someone who demands I speak to them!

The construction has been going on too long. Too too too many aisles of greeting cards. Not very happy shopping here, although your cashiers are a10. Always helpful, always friendly. But I don't want to shop here again until the construction is done. Mental note made.

Why can't Dairy products be purchased with parks?I understand to Alcohol, Tobacco and lottery productsBut dairy products are a need. Families, especially milk products, for young children and you can't even purchase it with your perks.

This is one of my favorites giant eagle’s in the city of Pittsburgh. I love the cozy feel and yet large selection of specialty groceries. There is ample parking behind the store so don’t be deterred if you think there is no parking when you drive past. Definitely come in and check it out.
