My husband and I discovered this place after eating at the nearby vegan cafe (B52). What a beautiful and amazing variety of plants! There was even a section of essential oils with lots of testers that I enjoyed sniffing. We weren’t able to buy anything this time, because we hadn’t expected to come across this store and I didn’t want to drag plants all around Pittsburgh, but I absolutely plan on coming back soon to pick some things up. The people are talkative and sweet, also. Really great store!

A beautiful shop with a large variety of plants. The best part is the knowledge the employees have and are willing to share. We learned so much during our visit in the evening of Aug. 6! The employee was willing to answer all of our questions and we did not at all feel like we were a nuisance to him.We ended up purchasing a small cactus and an air plant, both of which the care was explained.

So many tropical plants and succulents to choose from. Very welcoming and homey. I enjoyed looking at all of the different plants. I had to buy one. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Every time I visit Pitt, this is the first place I go! They take such great care of their plants, have a wide selection and even have some free props at check out! Today I was looking at a vanilla bean orchid and a worker actually came over to me shortly after with a free vanilla bean orchid prop.. it was such a sweet offering and I’m forever thankful for it. I think I was so blown away to truly show my emotions but if you read this - thank you again. It meant the world to me. 💚

I bought curbside during the summer, but today was my first time in the store. The girls were so nice and helpful and showed us the layout. They said stock was depleted, but I honestly couldn't tell they had so many options. I can't wait to go again.They opened a second shop in the strip district, and I've also bought some there! Great shops, wonderful people, and beautiful plants; you can't go wrong!

Good selection of plants, however their herbs I have gotten multiple times over past two years and they always come infested with aphids. These are kept indoors mind you, and compared to other herbs I have gotten from other places, don't have such a serious problem. When confronting them about this, they themselves don't have a great solution to this, other than attributing it to the growers they get these herbs from. So I'd probably stay away from that and just stick to their other plants.

I went in for the first time yesterday. I looked around for a while, while the staff was helping another party with a very large order. After a while I decided on a pretty plant in the front window. As I was walking it up a staff member asked what I was looking for and as a hopeful ex plant murderer I told her im new to being a plant person and needed something easy to take care of. She gently guided me to the back corner where the Raven zz plants and the snake plants were. I chose the Raven which is a beautiful plant. She then showed me their room of pits and help me pick out the right size. She then went on to re- pot it for me and give me the instructions. All in all an amazing experience.

Randomly walked into this little shop looking for a little something for my wife and I was not disappointed! The second I got in Wylie was super helpful in point out what plants were pet friendly. Very attentive and extremely informative. Even gave me a list of the plant names and care instructions. The other worker who I didn’t catch his name was also very personable during checkout. We will definitely be back!

The people in this plant shop are so kind and helpful, and they know so much about how to help you pick the perfect plants for your space!!! it’s a shame you can only give 5 starts because i would give them 100!!! 10/10 amazing place. I live pretty far north of them but it was so worth the drive!If you know what kind of light you have then I promise you they have about a million plants that are perfect for your space. They even tell you how to care for them and have just about every scientific name memorized.You can tell they love what they do and care about their plants with their whole hearts.

I live in Florida and needed to purchase a gift for my sister. Jason assisted me in the nicest most professional knowledgeable manner. He had to put me on hold twice because he was so busy but graciously apologized both times. They have a large variety of succulents & a great website to help make a selection. Jason helped me find what I wanted and since this was late Saturday morning he couldn't guarantee same day delivery but assured me that it would be delivered by Sunday afternoon. I was delighted when late in the day my sister let me know that her bonsai tree was already there! She also commented on how nice the young delivery girl was. She is now a fan of City Grows and I have a feeling she will be a customer soon.

Awesome place if you find yourself addicted to plants and would rather support a small business than a big box store. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the plants are well cared for. It's also just chill and nice to be in the store with fellow plant peoples who are happy to help.

I love City Grows. They have a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants, as well as pots and organic products. I love how full their little shop in Lawrenceville is. You can even find unique gifts like dried flowers, chocolates, and locally made soaps. The staff is always kind and helpful when you have questions.

They have a great selection of plants, which all look healthy and well maintained! I just recently purchased a beautiful purple succulent plant, and they were very helpful assisting me in choosing a correctly sized pot, as well as providing care tips. If I wanted another house plant, I would definitely get it here!

The folks who work there are very knowledgeable and kind! I wandered in there and decided to get 2 plants, left with clear instructions on how to care for them as well as more info on how to better care for a few other kinds of plants I had at home. The prices are super reasonable and the selection is far more diverse and interesting than the local chain stores. I am totally hooked! haha I am getting all my plants from here from now on!

First time I visited around a year and a half ago I really enjoyed it and the plants I purchased. Second time not so much I was there a few months ago and the two girls working weren’t friendly at all which totally killed the happy vibe of plant shopping. They didn’t seem to know much about the plants either which is kind’ve a let down. I also bought three plants paid cash wasn’t given a receipt and a few days later one plant died and I noticed the other was full of bugs. Overall their plants are pretty overpriced (I find them cheaper on Etsy from good nurseries) but they’re really the only plant store around that you can find some of the plants they carry. I hope I can revisit soon and have a better experience because this is a very cute plant shop.

The amazing associates at City Grows are just so knowledgeable about plants!! Great selection of healthy plants, cool pots, candles, art, and some other very interesting knick knacks. Prices are ridiculously reasonable!! The coolest thing about the store is that you can see through the floor...the building is THAT old - it still has the original wooden plank floor!! Definitely worth a trip to Lawrenceville to shop here.

**UPDATE: since posting my review, the store reached out, apologized and offered me a gift card for my trouble. I was able to make another appointment to shop and had a wonderful experience. Great variety of plants to choose from and the staff is super knowledgeable and offered plenty of great advice/care tips. Highly recommend.I made an appointment (shopping by appointment only due to covid), drove 30 minutes out of my way, and walked two blocks in the cold rain only to find a note on the door that read "Closed early due to weather". I was looking to buy a string of dolphins, among other plants, and wanted to support a small business rather than order from a nursery on Etsy, but this was BEYOND rude. I received a text message reminder of my appointment one hour ahead of time - so you have my phone number and email address but couldn't bother to let me know that you were closing early? The weather was so bad you needed to close, but you couldn't be bothered to alert the shopper who was driving in inclement weather to get to your place of business ON TIME? Just terrible.

Awesome little plant center! Appears to be locally owned/small biz- so a lot of stuff needs to be done over the phone or in-person.However, they have a great, diverse selection, including plenty of trendy, millenial plants :)Beautiful outdoor back garden. Plants, flowers, pots, garden decor, dirt & other supplies readily available. No, they aren't the cheapest, but their prices are absolutely fair, so I strongly recommend supporting this local shop.During COVID, they have been featuring a plant each day on Facebook, including price. I love seeing the plant of the day!

Just visited this store and what an awesome shop!! The guy that helped me (used to teach theater) was so sweet and incredibly knowledgeable. Amazing selection, awesome pots/hanging accessories and great pricing. Excited for my new peacock prayer plant!! Will be sure to stop in every time I’m in town, thank you!

I loved this little shop! They have a wide variety of different house plants and Knick knacks for your home. As of now, you have to make an appointment to shop due to the pandemic. The employee there was very knowledgeable about the plants. I would love to go back!

So pleased with my recent purchase form city grows. I got a HUGE marble queen pothos with incredible vining ( nearly 3 feet) for only $25 dollars and the delivery was free!I will definitely be coming back!
