Staying in the north side, I don't make a lot of trips to the South side but it is worth making the trip for this Cafe alone. I went at around 4:00 p.m. on a weekday and it was fairly empty at that time of the hour as they close at 5:00. The space is huge with a large indoor section divided into three other sections as well as an outdoor section which is small but really pretty with plants and flowers. I had the cold brew which was just the right amount of strong and smooth at the same time. There was only one Barista working there when I went but he was extremely friendly and nice. The seating is very comfortable and there are a bunch of options ranging from really comfortable upholstered chairs to more traditional seating. The decor is very modern and there's a bunch of large pieces of Art hung around on the walls. I will visit again.

Cozy spot for a decent cup of coffee. I was really impressed with the comfort and the seating. It was a perfect spot to have a good conversation with a friend.The yogurt bar was also a nice plus. Although rather expensive, $8 for a yogurt bowl, you could pick any toppings you want, and all toppings were fresh.If I lived in the area, I would likely frequent more often, most likely do work there with the comfort and the ample space.

Big Dog isn't my favorite coffee in Southside, but it is consistently good! I usually just get regular lattes when here and they're never been bad, they just aren't the best latte I've ever had. I honestly love to come to Big Dog when I want an everything bagel with cream cheese because to me that's the highlight!

This has to be one of the most consistent shops in Pittsburgh when it comes to espresso drinks.I’ve been visiting Big Dog for years now and it’s always a great experience with tasty espresso. Outdoor seating is one of my favorites along with the gas-lit fireplace in the fall/winter. One of the coziest shops on the South Side.

Such a cute cafe!! Love that there is outside seating. Went one early morning, and had a nice cappuccino and oatmeal combo. Their oatmeal bag is so neat and customizable. Lots of options and the pastries were also very good. The pb cookie was soft and had a nice nuttiness too it. The people working there are also very friendly and give you good recommendations. A nice play to study or just relax.

Great place to grab a cup coffee and study or read. They have a small, but very inviting outdoor patio that is shaded 🙌They brew with Intelligentsia coffee, which is quite exceptional coffee, if you are familiar with quality coffee brands.Unfortunately, the baristas come off as snobs about the way they make their coffee; this made the experience at Big Dog less memorable. You don’t need to be snobby to be knowledgeable about coffee.Overall, the coffee was good and I would maybe go back, but the customer service was not pleasant.Everything else aside, they do have cool art and this coffee house interior is very comfortable like a coffee house should be.

Enjoyed a lavender latte out on the back patio today. The service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful.I'm looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in the area.Highly recommend!

Big Dog is one of our go to spots for post-run coffees! Those caramel and seasonal lattes are just perfect. The owner is incredibly kind, and the whole vibe with the eclectic decor and artwork is my kind of cozy. Bonus points for letting in cute dogs to pet! Whenever I've got the time, sipping my latte from a mug and soaking in the atmosphere is my little treat. Highly recommend for anyone who loves good coffee and a welcoming vibe.

don’t know if today was just a busy/off day but i ordered a steamer and was charged for as much as a latte. things there are generally a bit pricey — oatmeal for almost $9. staff seemed a bit strapped but it was probably just a busy saturday.still a big fan of the ambience and back patio

Big dog was my favorite place years ago in college! I have nothing but good memories and I’m trying to let those memories stay in my mind! However today, I was excited to take a long trip back to bring my dog. When I brought him today I was told he couldn’t be there and was told to leave. It was super disappointing as I have brought him before and it was never an issue. The owner Nikolay is amazing and the coffee is wonderful but if you think it is a dog friendly place it sadly is not :(

Would have given a 5 but the woman working behind the counter was not friendly and whenever we ordered, she acted like we didn't know what we were ordering. She looked confused and had to repeat back in a different way what we already said.The guy with her was already starting our order as soon as we said it so don't know why she had that look on her face.We liked the decor of the place and the different table and chairs set up. Lots of seating for a small place. There's also seating outside.We ordered the mango and pineapple smoothie which was just okay and 2 coffees which tasted better. We weren't impressed and probably won't return.

Loved the coffee and the atmosphere. Much bigger space than expected. Clean,fast and cozy. Great macchiato....my kids loved the small sections with Children's books. We will definitely be back. Great street parking,cool old building. Nice variety of choices on oatmeal bar. All ppl were there young to old,loved it.Baristas don't really talk,smile,or say thank you,but the coffee was so good I still had to give 5 stars.

This is an exceptional nice little coffee shop. The quality of the coffee is high and I love all the little art and decors inside. Small outside seating in the back as well. I can just recommend this place.

I love local coffee shops and I am so glad my husband found this one to try. The style of the shop is absolutely perfect for me. Plants and art !!!! Now to discuss the coffee. Superb! I also tried iced loose leaf tea with lavender and some baked foods. Everything was so good!

I first started coming here almost 10 years ago when I was a college student in Pittsburgh and it's still the yard stick to which I measure coffee shops. I just visited the city and I'm so glad to see it still going! The coffee here is why I have a good taste for coffee, the food is great, the seats are cozy, and the wood-burning fireplace is the best place to sit during a cold winter's day in Pittsburgh.

I’m not sure how they have almost a 5 star rating. Customer service is garbage. When someone walks in you don’t say “sup” . And that was it? Nothing was out like sugars creams NAPKINS nothing. Only thing that was decent was the coffee that’s it and I can get good coffee and better service/environment elsewhere . Oh and paper straws and the cheapest plastic cups there is. GARBAGE
