Our Molly visited early in the morning on April 10th without prior appointment due to her sudden diarrhea. Facilities are very clean and nice, all the staff and doctor are very kind. They check our Molly very quickly and completed the necessary treatment. After this visit, I asked some questions via email, and the responses are also very prompt.

We’ve been going to this vet for 10 years with our dogs, Honeybee & Piper. Our doggos can be a bit anxious but seem calm around the staff, I think sensing they’re animal lovers. I feel like they’re in knowledgeable hands, and they’ve never pushed us toward unnecessary/costly procedures. Recent visits with Dr. Gazda, as well as communication in between visits (when we had a ton of GI questions) have in particular been good.

We have been clients for our kitties s long has it has been open. Probably going on 40 years. We trust the doctors to help our animals to have a long and healthy life. I highly recommend them to care for your pet friends.

Recent visit to Avalon Vet was excellent - as usual. Dr Gazda and technician Heather were both so professional and caring, answered questions, did not rush us, and most importantly were gentle and caring to my 13 year old dog. Have had 5 dogs, a turtle and a hamster cared for over the years at this facility. Have been pleased with all the Veterinarians and rest of hospital staff. Highly recommend them!

We’ve been at this vet for 5 years and we absolutely love them. They go out of their way to make sure our dog is taken care of properly. Our dog can be a menace and they are quick to have a room ready for him before we get there and a dr who understands his temperament and will sit on the floor and be patient with him till he’s calmed down. Their staff is incredible and willing to go above and beyond to help in any way they can. We will never use another vet and couldn’t recommend them enough.

Best vet around! We take both our cats and our pit here, they treat them like family. Anything that is wrong they treat immediately and always go out their way to teach us how to prevent those things from happening again. All of the recommendations make a huge difference for our family.

The staff has always taken such great care of my dog, Millie. I’ve taken her to AVH since her very first puppy appointment, and they’ve been nothing but wonderful. If my pup’s ever experiencing an issue, they always find a way to squeeze us in! Top-notch follow up after appointments & great communication. The techs and doctor were very gentle and kind with my cat; they made sure that she was taken care of and did everything within their power to make sure that she was calm wen getting her shots, and did not try to force her out of her comfort zone. The tech (Lindsay) and the doctor (Lyndsy) both assured me of my pet's health, informed me on her body, and when pointing out things that could potentially develop into a problem (tartar buildup on teeth), offered me a list of different options to try with detailed information on them. While normally my cat doesn't like anyone else touching her, as I rescued her from a feral, she was very open to them touching her and administering her shots. I am grateful that it went as smoothly as it did, and will be returning to Avalon for all of my pet needs.

I have been using this service for as long as I can remember and none of my contact info has changed. I had a follow up appointment for my dog for her allergies and her vaccines were due, and the appointment was for the 1st available appointment of the day. However, when we arrived, the tech told me that my contact info was now showing incorrect in their system THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN, and because of that, I was unable to confirm the appointment before coming, so I would have to wait to be seen until a vet was available after all of the other CONFIRMED appointments were finished!!! I am disgusted with this place! I have been a lifelong customer here and I had no issues being seen just 2 weeks prior, and the tech even told me that the error was on their end, so why would I have to make my whole day about waiting in a small, hot room with my dog when I had an appointment first thing in the morning?! This will be the last time I come here. As I write this review, I am still waiting in the room at the office with no answer yet, but my dog needs care today. This will be her last time here!

We switched to Avalon from Banfield in 2019 when my elder kitty was diagnosed with CKD. Banfield did not have the knowledge about kidney disease that we hoped for. Dr. McGowan was recommended to me from a colleague in the cat rescue circle and she did not disappoint. With her help, we kept Simba alive & comfy until Nov 24 2021. We could not have done it without Dr. McGownan's knowledge and compassion. I will never trust anyone else with my felines. McGowan is top-notch and the rest of the staff is always friendly and helpful to us. A perfect 10!

Dr Seremet and Chelsea were absolutely fantastic. We understand that our Mr Finn can be a challenge especially when he’s not feeling well. Chelsea sat with us making sure Finn was comfortable during sedation and that my husband and I were able to decompress. Dr Seremet has outstanding bedside manner. She did not rush us at all. She made us feel heard and was so patient and compassionate with our baby. We cannot thank these ladies enough. It is difficult to see your animal ill/injured and/or in pain. They did an incredible job helping us through a tough week.We have been going to Avalon since Finn was 6 months old and he’ll be 6 in July. All of the staff is wonderful and compassionate. Finn would also like to give 5/5 to his other favorite techs Sam and Dakota!!!

Need to change their name asap, it’s false advertisement. The office was good when they were actually in Avalon. Late last year they decided to abandon the community that’s kept them in business for years and moved over 20 minutes away to a dilapidated strip mall that’s closer to the wealthier suburbs instead of the lower middle to middle class village that has kept them in business. They used to be a neighborhood vet office that everyone in Avalon (and Bellevue and Ben Avon) could walk their pet to if needed, but remaining accessible to the community was clearly not something that interested them.In addition to that, they seem to have gone through multiple management changes just in the past two years and that’s caused other changes that don’t seem to make sense. They were able to perform a procedure on my dog, but not the same procedure less than a year later on my neighbor’s dog because they allegedly stopped offering it. Why? Should I be concerned about the quality of the procedure performed on my dog by someone who is still on staff, but the office longer offers gastropexy? Seems strange and also alarming.

This WAS a good vet, and very convenient...That was, until they abandoned their convenient location to move to a location four times further away. Time to change the office name from Avalon Vet to "another of too many vets in the North Hills"... And kiss a lot of your previous clients goodbye!

The best experience I’ve had with a veterinary team. I have been taking my German Shepherds here for years. Recently, I have had to take my GS, Bear, for rechecks the past couple of weeks. The Avalon veterinary team made me feel at ease by their compassion and dedication towards animals. Bear would like to give a special shout out to Dr. Neely, Dr. McGowan, Dakota, and Jacquelyn for being so friendly, attentive, caring, and accommodating to us. Thank you!

Do not take your animals here. We were told that we are not welcome at Avalon anymore because they didn’t like our response to when they almost killed our dog. They did not listen to us when we expressed the accommodations our dog needs and they almost killed him because of it. If I could rate zero stars I would. These people are not professional whatsoever. Take your pets somewhere else!Edit: another horrible experience bc of Avalon. We took my cat there for a very obvious tooth infection and they told us there was nothing wrong. Took my cat to another vet and he has to get three teeth pulled because Avalon wouldn’t treat him. When are you going to stop being ignorant jerks and start treating your clients’ animals like how they deserve to be treated? Your comment left to me under this review is childish and unprofessional. If you want to keep turning animals away then why do you work in the animal industry? I think you should seriously reevaluate lol.

Avalon Veterinary Hospital has always taken good care of my pets, even my cat who they had to put on very heavy gloves because she tried to attack everyone. You need to schedule appointments a couple week out, which is a little inconvenient, but they have started online scheduling, and are working on expanding. I will miss having them at location close enough to walk my dogs there, but the bigger space should allow more accessibility. I'm excited to see them growing. I'm always a little shocked at the price tag of routine pet care, but they are not more expensive than similar vets.

After I took my 14 yo dog there for apparently becoming blind. He was. They told me it wasn't cataracts but probably something with hai retina and even with expensive tests probably could not be fixed. I appreciated the frankness. They ran everything else on him and said he was in perfect health. They the wanted to give him vaccines. They gave him a 3 year rabies and a 3 year live distemper. Seemed like a heavy vaccine dose but they're doctors right?The next day my dog started having seizures so I called to see if they'll see him again or what. They said they never heard of a dog having seizures from the vaccines but that it does happen. We could do expensive procedures or he's probably fine if they're less than 5 minutes. My dog went from perfectly healthy(except blind) to having seizures in 24 hours to completely unable to walk or function within 6 months.Unfortunately, I had to put my dog to sleep today. I will not use this Vet again and highly recommend everyone else take their loved ones to a more educated establishment.But, here's what's available about the live distemper vaccine. Surprised they never heard of it..."After administration of modified live canine distemper vaccines. Affected animals may show neurologic signs such as aggression, incoordination, and seizures, or die suddenly. The pathogenesis of this condition is unclear. It may be the result of residual virulence, increased susceptibility, or triggering of a latent paramyxovirus by the vaccine."

Your team has been so friendly and helpful to my Dogs the entire few years we have been coming there. When my Lab passed, I was more than touched by how sympathetic and comforting everyone was and how easy you made it for me to deal with. Taking all my decisions away and helping me through the process are truly grateful for you. I recommend you to everyone, it is a drive for me but worth it.
