The Bon AppeptiteThis review is for the manager Demetrius Hogue of the Bone Appeptite 8517 Germantown Ave Philadelphia, PA 19118. I left my dog to get groomed on a Friday with groomer and Demetrius Hogue the manager.Ran a few errands and deposited a check unfortunately TD bank on Germantown Ave closed early that day as a result i was unable to pull funds as they were all on hold until the next day. When i went to retrieve my pure bred $3500 German shepherd i explained to Demetrius the bank was closed but i could leave my card on file to charge the $125. I also left the groomer a $20 tip.Demetrius Hogue did not agree to this and instead stated he would have to keep my dog overnight. I thought that was strange as the store doesn’t board dogs but i acquiesced bc i thought the manager who lied and said he was the owner was a relatively sane person. I also thought it strange that he was being highly anxious about $125 after me offering to leave my id and cc on file and i live in the neighborhood and my child also goes to school in the neighborhood. Im literally near the store daily either at weavers way or a coffee shop.When i returned the next morning when they opened at 9 am a different worker was there and was not informed about anything.2. Demetrius Hogue did not leave the staff any information rather they had to call him and he informed the staff worker that he put my dog in a shelter with ACCT Philly.3. Demetrius Hogue did not contact me to let me know he did this despite the store having my information on file as he called me when my dog was finished with her grooming appointment.4. I contacted police and reported theft bc Demetrius did not have the right or legal authority to place my chipped dog with ACCTPhilly5. I contacted 911 for a stolen dog and pressed charges against Demetrius Hogue and placed an ad in the chestnut hill local for him to be terminated from the store as his behavior was not pro dog.6. Demetrius Hogue traumatized a dog that is chipped cared for attends daycare and loved for $125 that the customer provided even AFTER learning her dog was given to a shelter.7. I’m local to the neighborhood so there was no reason to keep and essentially abuse my dog he’s dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed in a pet store or near anyone’s furry family member.8. For the above stated reasons i will not support nor do i recommend the community support this establishment while Demetrius Hogue is still employed as he does not understand what pets mean to family members and he should not be around people’s pets as he’s abusive. He needs to be terminated asap.

Got my puppy's nails clipped. Nina was awesome.Shopped for her in the store and found healthy and unique foods, treats and toys.And don't forget their biscuit bar of baked dog treats.Will be back soon. She loves her trips there.

I LOVE Bone Appetite! I ONLY gave them 4 out of 5 stars BECAUSE I am a proud doting MEOWMMY and this adorable little Pet Parent Boutique caters MORE to DogMas &DogDas, 😋😉😘 But I ain't mad, lol. This store usually has a wonderful varied inventory offering seasonal clothes, bedding, gifts, toys, food, first aid supplies, toiletries, flea & tick prevention items and MORE. I think they offer some doggie salon services in the back too. The store is ALWAYS neat and clean! I've been patronizing them FOREVER. 😚 The cashiers and attendants are often quite friendly and helpful if you have questions. Plus, their prices are fair and reasonable. I LOVE being able to shop local and have a special shop to go to for my furbaby's needs. 😺😻😸💖

I've been taking my dog here for 5 years - since it's under new owners the service is HORRIBLE! I was charged 96.00 including tip before it was 75.00 and they didn't cut my dog's nails - I was told that would be 18.00 extra - also it usually took 2 hours and now I had to wait 4 hours - because I told the owner I was unhappy with the wait time - he proceeded to go on a 15 minute rant - told me that he runs an upscale business and that he will no longer groom my dog - no problem -I will be taking my dog somewhere else!

Great stock of all different pet supplies and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, the dog biscuits and chew selection always go down well with our pup and he loves his collar and bandana from here

I tried writing another review from my phone but the website would not let me write another so I am using my husband’s phone to write another review. My niece and I made a appointment for a grooming for a Cockapoo and a Coton de Tulear Shih Tzu mix Friday July 24 out of desperation because our groomer was at Best Friends and she left. We couldn’t wait until August to get them groomed when a appointment would be available. I had been to Bone Appetit before. The last time I was there I was not pleased at all.So out of desperation I call and asked do they have more than one groomer because the last time I was there my dog got a horrible hair cut. The person on the phone told me that they have 3 groomers and that she would give me someone good at grooming. Ok I thought I would give this place another chance since my dog needed grooming and his appointment with another groomer isn’t until October. Well let’s just say I should have cut him myself and saved the money. My niece was not at all pleased either. Later on in the evening petting my dog I noticed that he wasn’t bathed. This place is also way higher priced then the excellent grooming we have have paid for. On my last review there was a response to my review. The response was that I can bring him back for the mishaps to be fixed on him. Well I did not know about the response until my niece read the reviews on the store website. How about who ever responds to the reviews give that unsatisfied customer a call? Our phone numbers are in the system. To everyone who gave this place 5 stars have you ever been somewhere else? Believe me if you take your dog elsewhere to be groomed you will see that your 4legged baby will look 100% better. How does this place interview potential groomers? I won’t be stupid enough to go back a third time no matter how desperate I am.

I got my golden retriever groomed here today. She was to get a shampoo (no hair cut). Not only did they cut her hair but she smells like burnt rubber. I would have been better off giving her a bath myself. Staff is very passive aggressive and unprofessional. I will not be coming back. I’m very disappointed.

I've brought both my dogs here separately to be groomed. My first experience went very well- my elderly toy poodle was well taken care of and finished within two hours. However, my experience with my larger poodle mix did not go as smoothly. I took her in for a 10:30 appointment, and received a call at 1:30 PM that she was stressed and had not stopped barking. I asked if she had been groomed and if I could pick her up- the response was that they hadn't gotten around to her yet. I think that a scheduling mishap like this should be communicated to a dog owner upon drop-off. Of course my dog was stressed- she was sitting in a cage at a new groomer's for three hours! I would have gladly brought her in later in the day to avoid the stress all parties involved experienced. The staff was very friendly and offered to let me bring her in another day, but we won't be coming back.

I took my puppy there for the first time to be litely groomed. The "groomer" was extremely unprofessional, listened to none of my ideas, was very rude when I tried to tell her what I feel my dog would feel comfortable with. The end result of the cut was horrible; my dogs hair was choppy, uneven ALL around. It looked as if Edward Scissorhands groomed my puppy. When I asked the groomer why is her hair cut so bad and so much, she began to give me the ABSOLUTE WORST attitude I have ever experienced at a business... the "groomer" is a young African american woman with curly hair. I WOULDN'T recommend this place to anybody.

I took my 20 pound Cockapoo there on Saturday March 14. I did not notice until we stopped at PetValue while we were in the store that on three different areas of his body that there are very noticeable grooming mishaps from the shaving equipment that was used on him. I used to take him there about a year ago and was always pleased. I will not be taking him back there. I am so glad I did not leave a tip.

Really nice pet store with grooming area in back. They let you use that area for self-wash, it's not a separate tub like at some places. Staff is friendly, baths are easy and reasonably priced

The reason why the shop is getting such poor reviews is because of the incompetence, unprofessionalism and down right disrespect of their staff. I took my puppy there 3 months ago and had the absolute WORST experience. The groomer was so disrespectful that it almost became physical. After writing my first review I never even recieved a phone call from any manager or supervisor from the store to apologize for their staffs behavior. Total waste of time even going there and I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy.

Store may very well be fine, but I had a bad experience with Brenda's Cat Rescue, which Bone Apetite hosts. Here's my review of Brenda's Cat Rescue:I felt that Brenda was unfairly judgmental. Said she would not place a cat with us unless we agreed to keep it indoors for the rest of it's life. This was not a policy stated on the application form. We have two small kids and cannot be sure that the cat will never get out. She brought up this policy after I mentioned where I lived, a very quiet side street, which I think she mistook for another street which is a busy thoroughfare. I explained that it was a quiet street but she refused to place a cat with us unless it could be kept indoors indefinitely. I am a generally shy person, I don't always make a good first impression, and I felt that she was personally judging me and that she didn't feel I was worthy of one of her cats.If you are an outgoing and affable person and live in a neighborhood that Brenda approves of then this might be a great organization to adopt from. It didn't work out for me.

Visiting from out of state during the pandemic this was one of the few businesses that was open for grooming. Located in quaint Chestnut Hill. Staff are kind, helpful and were quick in their service for my dog.

Fantastic store and wonderful, knowledgeable staff. The girl who helped me was able to recommend two FANTASTIC toys for our awesome, hilarious, genius dog who goes through toys like nobody's business. Both the toys I purchased with her guidance have lasted more than the usual three days-with no end in sight!

My 4 legged baby was groomed there. The Groomer is much more than that. She noticed something about my Cockapoo and that I needed to take him to his Vet. Also sooo much better than Pet Smart for grooming.

The grooming at Bone Appetit is awesome! We have a Lagotto Romanolo and Tess gave her the BEST haircut I’ve ever seen! She is even more beautiful than before. I recommend their grooming whole heartedly.

I bought my dog a cow hoof here yesterday and within 24 hours had to rush her to the vet for X-rays because the hoof splintered and was causing her to vomit and have diarrhea. Not a quality product.
