The fish tanks are well maintained and there is one particular lady who is very knowledgeable and helpful all the time. The other staff was also friendly but this one lady is the best out of the best. She gives genuine advice like you can tell she cares about the animals. We bought some fish and shrimps from here from time to time and all of them were healthy and living happily. We kept coming back for that reason.

The store has the most humane set up for Bettas I have ever seen. I am unsure why you sell these inhumane “tanks” for bettas. Bettas need minimum 3 gallons, filtration system and a heater. There is also an opportunity to make more money selling the right set up for these little guys.

The place I've been searching for. The perfect place to feed my fish keeping addiction. Chris was extremely helpful. He made sure I got my Military Discount. He is extremely knowledgeable on fish. The place is very clean and very well stocked. Wish I didn't take so long to revisit. I was blow away with the remodeling they have done. One of the best aquariums around. You will not be disappointed. There display tanks are incredibly as well. I highly recommend this place. Do not drive past if you are a fish keeper. Chris plus his soul into that place and it shows.

Terrible experience. Buyers beware: Bought some expensive fish that didn't survive 24 hours...then they chose not to honor thier printed return policy. Instead they tried to hustle me, insulted me, and tried treating me like I don't have 15+ fish tanks full of healthy and breeding fish. I trust neither thier fish husbandary nor competence nor character. The manager Chris is their biggest problem.Update: see this is why crooks are worse these days, he already got the money and has to brag about the hustle.

I used to shop here for the fish department. The staff at the register for check out are usually good. There is usually plenty of staff (2-3) in the fish department, but they are usually huddled together. The last 2 visits the fish selections were plentiful but several tanks had dead or sick fish in them. This was a definite turn off. I did not want to risk contamination to my tank. I will say that over the year the department has went from bad to great and back to less then good. Not sure why there is lack of consistency but I will continue to check in because I have seen this location on it's better days and it is possible they will be great again.Last visited on Friday January 20th....I see that the store has replied and I can not find a way to respond back....so I made an edit to my original review! Qudos to management for responding and looking into this. That is one of the reasons I will continue to patronage this location on better days!Went back to check out the fish department again. This time water was all over the floor and more dead fish. No improvements as of March 3rd. I wish them luck but I will not risk contaminating my tanks.*****UPDATE****** as of April 5th 2023 I am please to report massive improvements to the fish department. The tanks look fabulous and are full of healthy fish. The selection was plentiful with several fish of the same species as well as a variety of species. I mean if you wanted an Oscar you could pick from 10 plus Oscars or you could pick from 10 plus families of fish. Great job on the turn around! Absolutely happy with the progress.

It's a small pet store. I came here for the fish selection and the room was dark, there were hardly any fish and it just didn't look inviting. So that to me questions how healthy the fish are. And I understand the need for a security guard, but does he need to walk around the aisles looking at you?

My friend has been purchasing fish here for 5 years and recently bought a fish that was dead by the time he got home.They won't replace the dead fish and keep running him around in circles telling him to contact an unresponsive management.Edit - he says he waited 20 minutes at the store only for the supervisor to tell him to come back another day, and he filled out a form on the website and never heard back. This was Wed 4/10/24.The no returns policy applies to most of the fish but it still should have survived an hour trip home. Plus the supervisor never said that was the issue as the receipt said 7 days and he went back 3 days later.He even had it in the initial bagging the same way the store bagged it up.Edit 2- It was just a guppy. If you click Contact on your website, there is a form to input Name, Email, and Message he filled out with the full story, just as he told when in the store.

Associates were the most helpful! We got a new bunny and I felt like I was buying a new car. Hands down the best customer service. The actual pet store had a variety of exotic animals and supplies.

My boyfriend bought his first fish tank here ....They have plenty of beautiful fish. Felt like I took a trip to an aquarium.they also have pythons, birds, rabbits,parrots, guinea pigs and the staff is very helpful

As someone who got into fish keeping as a quarantine hobby, and stuck with it, this store is amazing. I have gone to stores over the Tri-state area, and it is wonderful that my favorite store for aquascaping supplies and livestock is just a few blocks away. If you are looking for a Fluval tank, their prices can’t be beat. I have two flex tanks and they are amazing.Also, they have an amazing selection of cat supplies as well.

Awful place as I was in a couple days ago and the manager with a grey beard and hair was degrading a kid, I don’t know the full story but awful disgusting person. The employees when asked to help seem if your bothering them. Can definitely get better service at Worldwide aquarium and hidden reef and for better prices. Nothing more than give me your money and get out type of chain store, with a disgusting lowlife manager that degrades little kids.

Good place for pet fish and cat/dog food, but if you're looking for a reptile, they have a small selection. I had better luck at garden state pet center they also have 20 % off their snakes and larger variety of pet food

Associate where great, aside from the security accusing us from stealing. We made about 12 trips setting up multiple tanks, one of the sake reps, so a tank broken and told us to switch it. She told the security we were waiting on something, and he proceeded to search my little brothers pocket, accusing him of stealing lol yea only blk guys in the store at the time are just stealing, probably spent the most money that week......just to clarify I have no issue with monster pets, none of the cashier or guys that assist on the floor, monsters pet the store has always had great deals, great customer service & everything I need when searching for pet supplies.

We've shopped all the major Philly pet stores, and Monster Pets has the best dog toys, variety of treats, and ecofriendly poop bags. The self-serve dog wash was recently upgraded, and you earn rewards with regular purchases. The staff are friendly and we love the huge, free parking lot and long store hours offered. We also appreciate that they're contributing to help Australian wildlife by offering a donation with a low cost toy purchase.

They almost always have what I'm looking for but I recently bought some gourami's here and they had ich and it spread to almost all my fish. I do have a quarantine tank FYI. Currently in treatment mode. Hopefully I can heal them.They wouldn't let me pick the specific fish I wanted, which is a little annoying. I used to work in the fish department of a pet store and always let customers pick their fish. Also, a little overpriced but overall not horrible (unless all my mature/veteran fish die from ich).

The manager gives misinformation and lies. When you call him out on it he will threaten you and try to fight you. This place is not family friendly or quality to other places. I would not recommend wasting your time and money here as you may be lied to, mislead, or threaten for speaking up.Better places to go where they have quality products and actually car about their customers is:Go Fish, Hidden Reef, Fish Factory, worldwide aquarium and pets, south river aquarium, and hell even petsmart gives better service and products

Honestly. They need to stop with the whole blowing into the cricket bag to fill it with air. My crickets come home with a quarter already dead, and they werent when i left the store. Stop killing my food to my bearded dragon with carbon dioxide poisoning. Im tired of wasting my money on dead crickets, trying to sift the live ones out so August doesnt eat a gross bug.Im going to find a different place to purchase my feeders because i dont like not being able to see in the feeder room and all the obscurity keeping things from out of sight.I tried to get a job here, and pay is only just as of the last year and half since i applied is 10 dollars an hour and before that it was 7.25.I think after today its time to take my business someplace that values its employees time and not hiding and tucked away on their care methods and displays of feeders.Theres only 2 or 3 people that actually seem to care and only one of them is left at the store, so I feel its time to start trying to divulge others into going elsewhere.

My husband and I are new to Philly and actively on the hunt for shops that have a good selection of supplies for our cats and aquariums. Monster Pets had a surprising variety of healthy-looking fish stock displayed in an aesthetically pleasing way. I'd say it's worth a visit even just to check out the sweet pair of gigantic paludariums they have on display.MP had the wet food and treats our cats like, and I loved that they were playing some channel showing wild animal rescues on TV's around the store, so kudos for that.Didn't interact with the staff much (which is my preference, I like to browse uninterrupted) but the girl who rang me out was very nice.Minus one star simply because I was specifically hoping that they had CO2 canisters for our freshwater plants and a greater variety of cat trees.

The whole staff is great! They love seeing your pets and are always kind!! Rather than mess up my whole bathroom trying to give my dog a bath, I take him there and they supply shampoos, towels and dryer and it's only $15. Can't beat it!

Remodeled looks great but a lil to dark in the fish area. Could barely see the products names. Still great selection of cichlids and so.e other exotics. Wolf fish are amazing.

Update to the fish section is BEAUTIFUL. Change in management was much needed. The animals look healthy and happy now! Anyone who previously had issues should try again. I get my guinea pig and lizard supplies here when I’m around and these bows did NOT disappoint!

I got one of my rabbits from here and I come here all the time to get feeder fish for my turtle. They have a lot of pet feeding options! And great pricing on a lot of the live feeders.
