It's an okay campground. The bathrooms and showers are atrocious, and I wouldn't go in a vehicle that doesn't have four wheel drive because you won't be able to get up the hills if it's muddy. But it is in a beautiful area and the staff were very kind. I would've rather pooped in the woods than used their latrines, and the showers required you to use a quarter, (which would be fine) but they don't work. I followed the directions to a T and it just ate quarters. The sites were very cute and ours had a cool fire ring made out of stone. But the sites were packed very closely together and I felt like I was surrounded by 6 other campsites within 30 feet. I won't choose to go here again but if it's the only open campground in the area I would go again. I just feel like for 35 dollars a night they could have better facilities.

I have paid $27 plus $5.50 for firewood for the night with a car and one tent on Sunday in the end of August. Every camp site has a spot for a car, a table, fireplace, spot for a tent. The sites are pretty packed, so the next spot was 5 meters away. There are flushable toilets, showers (even got, but I haven't used one), dumpster. In the night the crickets are pretty loud, a train and cars (if extremely loud) can be heard. At the reception there is a nice older man with cats and a room full of hunting trophies and snacks to buy. Overall experience there was nice, this place is on a verge of a forest and a big meadow that is mowned and available to relax. Some renovation to the toilets and showers could be done, but those are still usable.

Eh, it was okay. Probably not worth the price. Owners seemed nice, but the tent sites are much closer together than anticipated. When I called to book, I was told most of the sites “are pretty secluded”. I don’t expect complete privacy in a campground, but just an fyi. If you’re bringing a tent, put tarp underneath because the grounds are rocky. My partner said it wasn’t even worth seeing the showers, because they’re so dirty. Had to drive to get to the modern bathroom at the main office which kind of sucked.Nice to have ice and firewood available for purchase.Overall, I’d probably come back here if I was in a pinch and needed a quick reservation.

Our campsite was spacious, litter free, and not crammed next to others. The staff at the welcome center were incredibly kind and informative. I've read a fair amount of reviews that have been critical of the bathrooms and I didn't have an issue with them whatsoever. I came to enjoy the great outdoors and this campground provided all that was needed!

A lovely family-owned campground with heavily-wooded lots. We brought our 1979 VW Bus and parked it near the fire ring. The woman at the front desk was always attentive and helpful. Bathrooms were clean. A nearby campground wouldn’t accept our reservation because our dog (a mutt) looks too much like a pit bull. Thankfully, we found Scarlett Knob—a windfall for us. It is minutes from Ohiopyle, Fallingwater, and lots of hiking. Great location.

Worst campground ever!!!We thought that since it's private it's going to be well maintained! Boy were we wrong! Much much worse Conditions than any state park nearby or far away. Campgrounds are Rocky and uncomfortable, not well marked. Fire pit is dirty and not made to cook. No grill provided. Sites are way too cramped together.Bathroom facilities are driving distance away! Like really far, from any site!! We actually had to bike or drive for to get to them. The you get to them and they are dark and stinky, the showers are paid 0.25$ per 5 min amd dirty! There are the occasional porter potty but it's... Well not best and still rather too far for a nighttime pee break.Just overall not a good campground. And overly experiencive.. Just... Don't!!

Overly priced, bad facilities, bad fire pits , not convenient for grilling. Camp sites cramped together too close, and rocky not even nor well marked.*Bathroom and shower facilities are driving distance!!!*. and in pretty horrible condition ..Showers are paid. In quaters ....and expensive for their condition. The entire campground has only 3 showers... not that there is ever any line... just the sight makes you feel you r better off without showering.Owner is rude and short with guests .Just a horrible camping ground all around. All the state parks near by are leaps and heeps better in terms of facilities and conditions.

Wonderful tent camping experience! We felt very secluded with our campsite surrounded by trees yet were still close to amenities. I would highly recommend Scarlett Knob to any nature-lover seeking a rustic, relaxing camping trip. We'll visit again.

Very spacious sites. It was quiet that weekend. The ground is flakey rocks so if u tent camp bring an extra layer of tarp to protect your tent floor.Restrooms: There is wifi at the restrooms at the entrance. I never found the other ones since it was so dark.Dog-friendliness: You can bring your dog.

Camped here for the night after the Art and Wine Fest in Ohiopyle. Can't beat the price and location so close to Ohiopyle and Fallingwater.Very friendly staff and camp store open until midnight was great.Only recommendation would be to clean and repaint or update the shower facilities. Other than that we had a great time.

Yes, older toilets, showers so so but for a mainly tenting campground was awesome, large camp sites and owners were very nice. Will for sure return. Didn't care about our dogs (which were quiet) and loved the experience. Wood a little expensive so we did get that next door for half the price.Dog-friendliness: Awesome about pets!!!

I've stayed here twice now in the group part of the campground. This is a great rustic campground with large sites that are spread apart and offer a good amount of privacy. 3 of us stayed in a 5-8 person site which was large enough for 4 cars and 4 tents. The owners are friendly, the sites I saw were clean (you pay a deposit which is refunded after inspection), the portable toilets in the group area were surprisingly clean, and flush toilets and showers are available but located at the front of the campground, which is a hike from the group area. All relevant info, including quarters for showers, refund policy, and rates, are posted on their website. If you don't like your site the owners will be happy to let you relocate to an open spot. The campground is uphill about 2 miles north of Ohiopyle. Firewood is sold at the campground for $5.50 a bundle, but their neighbor one driveway south offers a great deal for $20. Sites have rocks and roots in places, so bedrolls, air mattresses or cots are recommended. Group sites have quiet hours between midnight and 9:00 and responsible alcohol consumption is permitted unlike the nearby state park campground. We did not have any problems with noise from nearby sites. At night the sky is dark enough to see the Milky Way.Finally, there was a surprising lack of food stealing critters at this campground. I've stayed in places where marauding bands of raccoons will steal from your picnic table while you're eating dinner, but here food left out was untouched.I've had a great experience both times I've stayed here and will come back again.

We stayed for two nights on a site with electric , beautifully wooded camp sites with plenty enough space from other campers . We felt very comfortable as soon as we pulled in to check in as we were greeted very kindly by the owners and given directions to our site .Very nice layout to the campground , it's easy to get around , yes it's gravel roads to your sites but that's what camping is all about ! We bought firewood and some other small supplies from the office at very reasonable prices and the bathrooms connected to the main building were very clean and comfortable. It's a short drive down over the hill to great hiking trails, but we actually ended up spending more time at our campsite than we anticipated because the campground and our site was so nice that we just enjoyed hanging out there for the majority of our stay.Peaceful place to setup a tent or small camper for a few days and just unwind, we will definitely be back.

There are different kinds of campgrounds and different kinds of camping. Sometimes I want a power outlet on my tree, a water spigot next to my own personal lighted pavilion and a stream full of trout at the end of the lane. Well, this ain't that place. What it is is a nice quiet rustic no frills camping site. Our site had a couple picnic tables, a fire pit, a level clearing that had been mowed, roomy parking and peace and quiet. It was simple and the simplicity is what made it great. A plastic porta john was 30 yards away shared by adjacent sites. It was easy to find, on top of a mountain so we got good cell reception and radio reception, and conveniently close to Ohio Pyle. The people who ran the site were friendly and just gave you a good rub, we've all been around people who treat you like you're a number. These folks seemed genuine. Caution, I am giving 5/5 but this site isn't for everyone, you need to really want to rough it. Somebody said the roads were bad, I didn't feel that at all. Picnic tables could all use a coat of paint. I would go back.

If you love primitive tent camping you'll love this site. It's very quiet and wooded, great place to set up your hammock. Also very awesome big stone fire pits and the price for wood is very reasonable for what you get. I definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!

Very nice place. Tent sites were back in the woods far enough to be private, but still close to the office/store. A bit pricey, but not unreasonable.

It was OK. Checking was quick, and a big bundle of wood is only $5.50.You drive to your site, even for tent camping, so no lugging gear through the woods or anything which is nice. There's a stone fire ring, and a picnic table that was in good shape and actually usable. The camp site was relatively flat or slightly sloped, but really rocky though. If you happened to not have a light with you at night, you were putting yourself in danger. We had hammocks and there were enough trees for 4 of us. I think it would have been uncomfortable with tents, definitely hard to get 2 tents on flatter ground.I did not use the facilities, but my teenage sons did not complain. There are coin operated showers, which were hard to find according to their map, and difficult to get turned on. Typical camp showers... A couple bugs, and a couple spiders joined you. Makes things go a little quicker I suppose :).I would not dismiss going back as it was quiet, and is only 2 miles from Ohiopyle state park, and even closer to Fallingwater. We only stayed 1 night, and I do not think it is attached to any biking or hiking trails, and it didn't have any other amenities or activities that we saw.

We’ve been going to this campground for over 5 years now, the owners are nice, the campgrounds are beautiful & quiet. Amenities (coin shower, some flush toilets in the main office, and porta potties) are always clean! The sites are very spaced out and the tree cover is dense, unlike other campgrounds, so you have a feeling of privacy! Truly a great campground for the price, my friends and I have always had a great time here.***Update: this same weekend I posted this review, Oct 16th, my fiancé and I got engaged! Scarlett Knob was the first place he told me he loved me when we were 18! He proposed to me in front of our friends, truly a very special weekend!

I love this place! I have been coming here since I was 8 years old & now I bring my children here. This is an actual camping experience. The spots are always clean & it’s just very relaxing to get away for a couple nights. Also it is very close to Ohiopyle!

I came in on Sunday the weekend before Memorial Day. I did a drive through and it looked nice they had Ricky fire pits really rustic sites (not the place for a big rv but good for tent campers) I’m unsure sites in the woods. I went inside to book a site they told me it was 30 a night I politely offered 60 as we staying till Wednesday. Before I could explain that yough lakehad a weekday special stay two get one free I was sorta yelled at by a younger feller (I’m guessing son) of the old lady who lived upstairs”WE ARENT PLAYING GAMES” I’ll say this I’m white I can look past the guns in the office and the blue lives matter flag political ideologies aside I would expect you to be friendly to you customers and welcoming… I won’t ever stay here hopefully the owners or management can change things up otherwise maybe they’ll get bought and some one can shape things up

If you want true camping Scarlett knob is the place to go! A Family friendly spot but also great place to go with friends and hang loose! I specifically like the “deep woods” feeling it offers but close enough for a quick stop in town for essentials. The family is so inviting and accommodating it really makes our trip even more pleasant when they remember us! The paths to the campsites remind me of a true adventure every time I travel through and the kids really enjoy thrill of it. Some sites have electrical but we always stay without (true camping!) and really enjoy all the wonders nature has to show. I read that some people claim that the campsites are under lighting but I haven’t experienced this and we stay in a different spot multiple times a year for years now. It’s a true place to experience true nature camping! Scarlett knob is a great place to get away from the city for a quick weekend trip, And for the prices you can’t beat it!

This was a very cool, very basic campground located only a few miles from Ohiopyle. The day we went was absolutely beautiful outside and very hot. Ohiopyle was completely packed, yet scarlett knob had plenty of space. They have a basic outhouse bathroom and shower, and also a newer, being renovated , cleaner bathroom near the entrance. It was very quiet and super dark at night. Spaces are big enough for your car and your tent, alongside the fire pit. Being out there is so much fun. Sure, hotels are nice, but being and sleeping outside is so much more fun. It helps you remember there is something more than computers and phones and TV. Plus the keepers were very kind. I will visit again

This. Place. Is. Fantastic. It really puts me some type of way to see negative on places like this....about things you should be prepared for when looking to camp. Like not tearing apart the woods to accommodate yourself. Or making sure you refer to the map and pay attention to where all bathrooms are....or that you really dont usually get a refund ANYWHERE when you cancel at 10pm or 12 am or w/e. The negative I see in the reviews is a level of entitlement I would expect out of a 5 star hotel. Not a campsite. With that being said...In a tiny van in the middle of the night the roads were just fine. The people were incredibly kind and took us in at 9/10 at night. Other campers provided light till we had our own. Due to arriving late we were up late it was nice quiet and peaceful and spacious enough we didnt bother anyone. They provide firewood but there is plenty of fallen wood to provide for yourself. This is a rustic site where you can get a good dose of nature... so if you want fancy bathrooms or lot of amenities this isnt the place for you. Otherwise it's perfect! Exactly everything it needs to be. :)

I also don't get what the negative reviews are all about. This place was just fine. Better than fine, even. Everyone was nice at the office when I checked in... I actually showed up with an extra camper because my niece decided to come with us last-minute, and they didn't care. Price stayed the same. The camp sites were nice, I thought there was a good distance between each site. We were in the "family" section and our neighbors didn't bother us, I don't think we bothered them. The ground was a bit rocky, but, whatever. We had foam to sleep on. Nice big stone fire ring. Very short drive into Ohiopyle. Oh, and we were close enough to walk to use the bathrooms around back of the office... They were nice and clean, I thought. Didn't see the other on-site restrooms or showers. We'd go back, for sure.

Things I feel not in control of the campground but just some tips. Yes as stated it is VERY dark but we loved it. We looked for a place like that but just wanted to prepare others. We stayed in a 17-35 camp. The owners were VERY polite through the whole process from info to reservations to check out. And i was quite annoying! I even changed reservations more than once. The store is closed but you can ice firewood and such still. Also because of covid the paintball is closed. We believe the rec field is closed too but we honestly never asked. Our site was big enough. I do suggest bringing toilet paper. And not leave it in the porta-potty. We have a rude group near us the took ours, would throw rocks in, and just down right disrespectful but going in our camp when we weren't there. We would catch them as we walked back from fishing. Fishing is great! Kids had a great time. Our site was pretty private. We heard another site after midnight a little. None of this was enough to complain to the owners. Yes the ground can be rocky. It can be grassy. I can be muddy. Its camping what do you expect but be prepared. Highly recommend for any types of groups.

It wasnt a horrible horrible experience I would say, I did love the "you're in the woods" feeling. And that's what I look for in a campground. Not too spaced out from another but luckily we didnt have loud neighbors. The campsite itself was fine, however having a long day hiking and swimming all we wanted to do was take a nice shower, I really wished the nice lady would have told us about the "coined operated" shower! Now we got there put the tent up and it was storming and pouring outside. We waited until it had stopped, briefly but We couldn't drive down to the "bath house" because we would have gotten stuck because of the roads down there. So we walked down and found out we needed quarter's! I was NOT walking back up and alllll the way back down for that!?! no where on the map/rules did it ever say about the showers or she never once told me. I can live with the toilets that's fine I can deal with that, but come on please let guest know about the shower and the 25 cents for 5 mins, that would have been great to know.

Just enjoyed a great weekend camping here with my wife. The sites are numerous, spaced out perfectly amongst the forest, beautiful and well maintained. We arrived friday afternoon and drove through the campground. We were like 2 kids in a candy store. Each site we saw was better than the last and we wanted them all. Lol. I drove the beautiful lady at the front office crazy asking to change...until finally we stayed put with what we had and loved every minute of being there. Please...choose wisely and pick a spot once. She was so kind but I knew I was pushing the limits asking to change a couple times. I think this is one of the best campgrounds we've ever stayed at when it comes to just feeling like you're out in the woods enjoying nature. If your coming to the Ohiopyle area, don't bother looking anywhere else. This is THE place to camp. We've camped elsewhere in the area over the years and this was the best place we've been yet x10. Great place. Thanks for the hospitality.

TERRIBLE experience, camper beware!! I feel so mistreated by this squat, backwoods "establishment". You should be absolutely ashamed refusing us our refund at 10pm due to unforeseen events! Such terrible customer service. The front lady is only nice before she takes your money.UPDATE- we drove 5 hours home and called the next day to request a refund for the time we never got on the lot. Both wife and husband denied us this. These people are crooks!!!UPDATE- we filed a citation with the bank and successfully had our money refunded. The bank also looked into the business because I'm sure they have stolen from others. Shame on you.

This place is great for camping. If you want silence, flush toilets and hot showers, perhaps you don't like camping at all...maybe you belong at the Holiday Inn. If you want to sleep in the woods, under the stars, near a nice campfire, then this is your place. I stayed in the middle of July and didn't even see my neighbors, let alone hear them. Very close to Ohiopyle, where I went rafting the following day. Already planning to return in a couple weeks. I would recommend to anyone that wants to GO CAMPING.

We only stayed here one night, due to there being no space at ohiopyle, but do not go here unless there are absolutely no other options. The sites are leveled ok, but the roads are terrible, old cracked pavement or gravel. The power plug at our site was upside down and almost impossible to connect with an adapter. The bathrooms are horrible, 2 stalls of open holes and sinks with no soap or papertowles to dry your hands. 2/3 of the showers do not work after putting a quarter in for 5 minutes. There is only one bathroom and shower area for the entire campsite. One of the staff told us that the only dumping station was out of order, and the area for it is impossible to go with a camper attached to a truck. I would not recommend for anyone to go here, stay away if possible.
