Flavors change often. I've come several times and always see something different. I personally love getting the Extreme, which is their version of a DQ blizzard. You can choose what base from any of the available flavors that day and add toppings!! Usually most places do vanilla as the base.Previously, I got an Extreme with a Butter Pecan base mixed with Oreo and cookie dough pieces. That was unusual and tasty, but I also highly recommend adding their new brownie cookie dough bites! That really adds something extra. Last time, I got an Extreme with vanilla ice cream mixed with Oreo, cookie dough, and brownie dough bites. Definitely yummy. Overall, I definitely keep coming back.Also it's cash only! But worth it.

Every time I visit family in Oakmont, we make several trips to Brr-Kee's. There are many reasons to love this place. The ice cream flavors are plentiful to choose from and excellent regarding temperature and taste. The sundaes and cones are always very good for the folks liking the normal portion sizes. For the professional ice cream connoisseur, you really should try the large banana split. You can have them swap the usual vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors for any flavor of the day listed. Check out the picture of this bad boy. Takes me back to the tasty freezes of a bye gone era. Also, the fact that they are open year round is a huge bonus as many of us enjoy ice cream in the colder months.

I walk in Oakmont all the time and I've passed by Brr Kee's very many times. Today I finally stopped by and got myself some of their peanut butter yogurt (frozen yogurt).First off, it's important to remember they are cash only. As others noted, it's a bit of nuisance, but it's alright. The prices for the ice cream are fairly cheap. There's a great variety of options to choose from. You can get pints, quarts, and even 1/2 gallons of the daily flavors.One slightly annoying thing about the menu is the way in which it's presented outside the store. For instance, someone in my group wanted to get their sorbet bowl which was advertised right outside the store on a whiteboard. However, they told us they were out not only of the the sorbet bowl, but of all sorbet. It would be nice if they had erased the option once they ran out. I also couldn't find their yogurt flavor and only knew about it because of a post in their Facebook.However, I must say that the product is pretty tasty. It's not the best ice cream or frozen dessert I've ever had, but it satisfied me. It was packed to the brim! The texture was good for a frozen yogurt and the peanut butter flavor was great. However, I would have loved actual peanut butter ripples/streaks instead of just a peanut butter flavored yogurt base.All in all, I'm going to return, simply because it's nearby, has great variety, and the prices are reasonable. I hope they start erasing products they are out of from the whiteboard.

Great little spot. Very popular but funny let the line share you off. Service is fast, friendly and they serve an authentic banana split that brings back memories! Very reasonably priced! Add this to your special splurge list!

The best of the best ice cream shoppe! Always a different rotation of flavors and specialty, house made sundaes. Remember it’s cash only but absolutely affordable. My favorite flavor that has been available so far is espresso and my favorite sundae is still around the cinnamon caramel brownie.

This is a nice ice cream stand. The prices are reasonable and the serving size is ample. There are plenty of sundae & shake flavors to choose from. I highly recommend this great establishment.

Update as of 2/16/2022, this place is still just as good now as it was when I first reviewed it.The variety of ice cream flavors here is always large and always changing. The staff is always friendly and they move at a quick pace. The banana split here is very good as is the Brr-Kee brownie.The prices are average for an ice cream place but given the area they are very fair.Parking is easy as the lot is rather large but even if it's full there is plenty of on street parking available

The ice cream was very good and the staff was quick and very friendly. The seating area with picnic tables was a little less appealing (a little dirty and some of the picnic tables looked they were in need of replacement.) But we will definitely go back.

Beware if you don't "look rich." Showed up with my boyfriend and the customers stared at us the entire time and got all quiet when we were near them. I was treated like a second class citizen by staff as well. I felt eyes on me the entire time we were waiting for our ice cream, and everyone was quiet until we left to go to our car. Horrible experience all around because of the clientele in the area.

I work at a convenience store that's less than a half a mile away from this place and a wonderful customer brought me one of their homemade milkshakes! It was hands down the best milkshake I have had in my whole life, it's what a milkshake should be you will not be disappointed I can't wait to try out the other things on the menu!

We love this place! The poor kids working closed at 9, and people kept coming. They kept serving with a smile on their faces. We felt so bad for them. But the ice cream can't be beat. My only gripe is, BRING BACK THE DINOSAUR SPRINKLES 🦖🦕😊

Update: was able to give them another shot. Quality ice cream. Will stop again.Just moved to the area and felt like trying a new ice cream place. It was new years day and about 6pm. I made sure to call ahead to make sure they were open. The automated message assured me they are "open 7 days a week year round". I make my way to the shop and all of their exterior lights, including the huge, bright neon "open" sign, are on. I park my car and walk up to the window to realize that none of the interior lights are on and there is a small print up stating the stores holiday hours and that they are closed all day new years day. It is foolish to rely on this as a method of advertising your business hours. Change your answering machine message so that your not openly lying to customers. Im leaving 1 star for terrible business practice. I'll consider leaving more if I decide to give the shop another chance.

Brr-Kee's is wonderful, the best place to get homemade ice cream around Pittsburgh and a staple of Oakmont. Their ice cream is fantastic and reasonably priced, they also sell pints and quarts and are open all year round. I love supporting this local business and I recommend Brr-Kee's to everyone. They have also taken safety seriously during these difficult times, 2020 might be a really rough year but at least in Oakmont we have Brr-Kee's Ice cream to brighten things up. Stay safe out there.

Brrkees can't be beat. This is the best ice cream I've ever had in my life!!! It's always so soft and creamy and I have definitely visited twice in one day on multiple occasions. Would argue to say the best ice cream in Pittsburgh!

Really nice lady. Huge portions. We hardly get a treat like this driving truck but this was beside a delivery and within walking distance. Ice cream for lunch... Great decision. The cost is cheap for what you get. Don't forget to leave a tip.
