I would give them no stars! I never in a million years thought that I would be leaving a review. I bought my puppy from Tom's 4 years ago and at around 2 years old his liver enzymes started to rise, and rise, and tomorrow we have an appointment with an Internal Medicine Doctor!!! I cannot believe that this is happening. Please do not buy an animal from Tom's!! Save yourselves from Heartache!

Never have I been to a pet store that refuses to let you even touch a dog the poor things get no attention and the girl working had the personality of a rock. Snapped at me for putting my hand out for the puppy to sniff and then when my 5 year old asked her if she could tell him where the cats were she barked at him that they don't have any. Sad establishment. Don't waste your time. Go to zimmers in boyertown if you actually want to get to bond with an animal before purchasing...

tom’s pet outlet has such a friendly and helpful staff. place is very well kept and clean inside. bought my corgi here last month, so far he is very healthy with no health issues/problems and we love him so much! they take really good care of their animals and can tell that they genuinely care about them. they also have a great selection of dog food, toys, and treats. 12/10 would recommend!

I admittedly hadn't done any research on purchasing animals from a pet store but when we got there and learned that they're selling mixed (not purebread) pups for over $2,000, I did some research and learned that NO reputable breeder would sell their puppies to a pet store. I went down a rabithole of puppy mills and USDA inspections (and learned that this pet store is not registered with the USDA in the process and therefore isn't subject to inspections).Not only that, but there were a lot of red flags here when asking about the puppy we were looking at. No real information about the parents or proof that the parents are who/what they say. They provided very vague information about where they're from ("a breeder in Ohio") as well. There are tons of reputable breeders around here who you can contact directly and visit, see the parents and health records, etc. You may have to drive an hour or two but it's worth it to not support puppy mills on top of paying 3x the normal cost.

this was one of the best experiences I have ever had at any store. Heather probably spent an hour with my ten year old son to help get everything he needed for the leopard gecko he will hopefully be getting soon. she literally built his reptile tank rom top to bottom with every single piece his gecko will need. we are first time buyers so this was helpful beyond words for us, thank you for the time and info you gave us. peyton can not wait to see his gecko!!

He is the happiest and healthiest little boy and I’m so grateful to Tom’s for the time, assurance, and assistance in ensuring my success as a puppy parent. Not only does their store offer great value, but you can tell that they truly care about their animals and the people who take them home. We went in to see puppies recently after losing our dog to cancer. We saw one of the super cute golden puppies and played in the room with it while asking questions to the staff about the puppy and its origin. At first everything sounded legit, they assured us that they weren't from puppy mills as we made it clear we did not want to support puppy mills. They said the particular dog we were looking at came from a breeder in Ohio and was purebred and ACA registered, and they have the names of the parents and everything is totally legit and even comment about the puppy being $2500 because it was from good bloodlines.We were really interested in the puppy providing everything was on the up and up. We were really sad over losing our dog and eager to have a puppy in our house again so my husband called his father who isn't local but is a veterinarian and he told us what red flags to look for. Upon speaking further with Toms they hit ALL of the red flags for a puppy mill. The dogs are not AKC registered they are ACA which is not an indication of quality, and there is no vetting of breeders who submit registration paperwork. They regularly use ACA for puppy mill dogs. They also said the dogs are USDA which is also mostly meaningless to a consumer when it comes to a puppy. They throw out these terms because they sound official to most customers who don't know any better.We asked the names of the parents and the names they gave us were super vague "Hillside Brian and Hillside Lori" and not searchable anywhere, they said the breeder was in Ohio (another red flag) and they wouldn't give us a breeder name to search or even a business name. There are several breeders named hillside through PA and Ohio and the reputable one we found online was not where these puppies were from. Toms also said that the ACA paperwork with the info will come a few weeks AFTER we buy the puppy.ALL HUGE RED FLAGS! The puppies were Golden Retrievers and they didn't have OFA Hip checks either. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE GETTING A PUPPY!! DO NOT SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS $2500 is super steep for even an AKC Purebreed puppy. Please make sure the puppy you buy is AKC and not ACA. AKC has checks and is strict with the puppies they will register.I feel really sad that all these pups parents and siblings probably endure hell where they came from but the only way to stop this industry is stop spending money at places who support these mills!! PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT TOMS PET OUTLET!!

Nice place to get pet supplies. The facility was EXTREMELY clean inside!! That was the first thing I noticed when walking in. And there was absolutely no "pet" smell like most pet stores. We saw a few puppies and lots of fish. Not very many reptiles. Seems like a great place for locals. Lots of parking.

COVID seems to have broken these folks. Ever since 2020 they rope off the dogs bc, according to the employee, the dogs don't like being petted. That and the people and / or their pets at home may not be fully vaccinated. While it seems that they have good intentions, something just feels off at this place. That, combined with all the "puppy mill" comments... hard pass.

We adopted a golden from here and were so impressed with the customer service and care these pups receive before finding their forever home. We went in to meet him, but weren’t able to immediately take him home so we had asked if they’d hold him for a few days, thinking they’d charge us a boarding fee, but they were more than happy to hold him for no additional charge! They also offered us a military discount which we really appreciated. Before we left, there was a lot of thing they went over with us, one of those things being the 10 and 30 day warranty. The 10 day warranty was a full reimbursement of any vet work that needed to be done. Sure enough, I called after our initial vet visit and there was a check in the mail 2 days later with our reimbursement. Our puppy’s disposition is just the best and we are very satisfied with our purchase! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a specific breed.

Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Worked with 3 different people and had the same great experience with each. They provided helpful information and when I asked about temperament for a dog breed one staff member was unfamiliar with they quickly found someone more experienced with the breed for us to speak with and then checked back to see if they could help us in any other way.They were great with my children as well. Very patient.We were also looking for a guinea pig. They helped with all of our questions and had great recomendations for habitats, food and other supplies.

Bought two purebred malteses from Tom's about nine years ago. One unfortunately passed away. When I reached out to one of the owners and asked them if there was any chance the dog's bloodline was still active, they told me they hadn't gotten a dog from that person in a few years. Fair enough. I then asked them if they could contact the breeder directly and was told that "they get their dogs from a 3rd party so that the breeders don't have to deal with the public." Red flags started to go off in my head and I thanked the owner and wrote a letter directly to the breeder. The breeder told me the police had taken away all her dogs because she was breeding them unethically. These dogs are puppy mill dogs that are bought from a 3rd party so that Tom's can play dumb when the puppy mill question comes up.I also had genetic testing on my other dog a few months ago. He was sold to us as a purebred maltese. He is a mutt. 60% coton, 40% poodle. Zero percent maltese. When I contacted Tom's about it, they did nothing. Not even an apology. Please do not do business with these people. Here's some pictures of my "purebred" maltese. He's 14 pounds and skinny for his frame. Breed standard is a maximum of 8.5 pounds. There is also a picture of him next to a breed standard maltese. Beware that what you are buying is not even close to what you are getting.

We had a great first experience here. The customer service is really great. Very helpful and friendly staff and shout out to Melissa for educating us about the animals. We bought home 2 guinea pigs who are doing well. This place had kittens, puppies, snakes, bearded dragons, guinea pigs, geckos. It was just a fun experience overall!

I needed some plants for my tank and the employees were super helpful and knowledgeable. While the plant selection wasn’t huge they had an uncommon selection I don’t see in box stores. The plants where also very healthy and I’m excited to see how they grow.

We got our newest family member here named him Noa. We had him checked by a vet the same day and he was all cleared . We found one ingrown nail and took him to Tom's they fixed it for us really appreciated it! So happy to have him thanks for everything. See you when we need more food! Luna our lab loves him as well

We frequent Tom's for our reptile pet needs, primarily frozen mice and bedding. The quality of the mice has been excellent and Tom's keeps our information on file for quick lookup.The staff always friendly, greet us on entering, and are quick to help and provide advice. Several of the staff have similar pets and have been able to guide us to appropriate products.While it's not a large store, Tom's has a fairly robust selection of products and pricing is in line with other non-big box pet stores.Even though we primarily shop here for reptile supplies, we always have to grab a couple of cute decorated cookies for the dogs.

This is a great pet store. It's not your local chain pet store you can receive many types of breeds of animals here. I love the puppies. Just bought a Russian tortoise for my son's 12th grade graduation for him there.

It's overly priced for non AKC pups. Staff try to convince you by using big words to make you think you're getting a good deal. Too many red flags pop for this place, which by research screams puppy mill front.

Folks are super helpful here. We got our Molly from these folks about 2 years ago. So we go back to get snacks and toys occasionally. Prices are fair. Plus they have tons of puppies to look and ahhhhhh over, and really who doesn't like that?

The puppy I bought from this pet store was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease at only two years of age. I was oblivious to the fact that pet stores support puppy mills at the time - All I can do now is leave this review and spread awareness about my experience. Please reconsider doing business here.
