I’m disappointed with this rescue. We were interested in a cat we fell in love with after visiting the cat room. Our current cat was in need of a buddy. The volunteer was nice and said after applying we should hear back in about a day. After hearing our specifics, she didn’t foresee any issues. So we emailed the application a few hours later along with an approval letter from our landlord and vet records from our cat.When I didn’t hear back, I tried calling several times. But it was so difficult to get someone to answer phone! I tried different times of the day (and yes I was calling during their listed business hours), with no luck. No one returned my voicemail or follow-up email. I found this to be very unprofessional.I know this rescue is all volunteers. But if there isn’t enough help, then the hours should be updated. At one point someone finally answered the phone and the girl told me she was going through applications now and would call me back later. I never got a call back and couldn’t get a person on the phone when I tried following up again. Then I finally looked back at their site and the cat wasn’t listed anymore!This makes me wonder if someone else applied for him sooner and got him. Or, they saw a problem with our application. Either way, it would have been nice to be notified because if someone else adopted him, we would have gladly considered a different cat. Or, if there was a problem with our application, we would have done whatever is needed to fix it.After all that, we finally decided to apply at a different rescue. The difference was night and day. The second rescue was very professional. After we applied, they got back to us the next day. There was one thing with our application that needed to be addressed, but they at least told us and gave us the opportunity to fix it. We fixed it right away and then we were able to meet our little man and adopt him.In hindsight, it’s a good thing we had to resort to another rescue because we love our new boy. But, the whole experience from this rescue was still a disappointment. From what I saw, the animals were well taken care of and they seem to be doing good work. However, changes should be made to make communication better between applicants and volunteers.

Adopted our dog Buster from this place in 2013, we still have him, he is the love of our life. He is getting older but is well takened care of. We found the perfect dog from the perfect place

I'm not quite sure. I'm going to get another animal from there. I've had this kitten for a couple months. He was having some problems with his nose and sneezing and watery and runny eyes. So I called a few times. Didn't get no answer. Had to actually go in. Talk to somebody. They had no idea what I was talking about. Nobody had even listened to the messages so now he has to be fixed and I have called twice so far and nobody has returned my phone calls. So now I guess I'm going to have to go in there again and set up an appointment because I just paid blank amount of dollars for this kitten and I'm getting no answer. It's kind of aggravating

I had nothing but the best experience working with Alyson and her coworkers during the adoption process. I met with Alyson and explained to her that I was very interested in adopting and she got me an application right away and I was able to meet and adopt my new best friend within a week! I was very excited to get the opportunity to do a meet and greet with the puppies I was interested in and they offered me a packet to take home while fostering the pup. The packet included all of his shot records, rabies tag, bag of food, collar/leash, information on adopting, and much more. I would highly recommend Animal Protectors to anyone who is looking to adopt and make sure you ask to speak with Alyson as she helped me though the whole process.

Someone abandoned four cats at my elderly mother’s house in a different county. This organization was full and in the process of building a new facility. They were kind enough to place us on a waiting list. They took two at a time about a month apart. They found good homes for the cats very quickly. We assured that their lives will be spared, and they will thrive in a loving home with a forever family. They now have their new building. They are very kind and compassionate.

I refuse to do any more business with this company the refuse to call landlords I was made aware today they didn’t call mine had they then they would have gotten information from them saying that if they are emotional support pets that weight doesn’t matter

Great place very caring. Dr Betsy and Michael are absolutely wonderful I can't say enough about how great this place has treated my Jack Russell. They go above and beyond their duties from what I understand they have adoption services as well if I were to adopt an animal this is a place I would absolutely choose to find an addition to my family the Karen commitment is 110%

Beautiful facility and fantastic staff. Everything went perfectly with my cat adoption, except the spaying. They made me wait three months as foster-to-adopt and refused to allow me to pay for her surgery, so it would just be done and I could finalize the adoption. When it was finally scheduled, with no notice, I dropped her off at the clinic for the surgery. They called two hours later and told me she was already spayed. Animal Protectors hadn't even bothered to look for a scar.

We just got our new family member Hooch from this facility and we could not be happier. We had a couple meet and greets, and Found the best fit for our family with the wonderful help of Melissa and the staff. The animals here were very clean and healthy, and they loved the staff you could tell from the affection they showed toward them. We had visited a few other places even over 2 hours away. We highly recommend anyone making the trip to visit Animal Protectors, We do not feel you will be disappointed. Thank you to everyone there for the role you play to protect these furry friends and find them good, fitting homes.

I recently adopted a dog from Animal Protectors and found the entire experience wonderful. Each staff member I met was friendly, kind and very helpful. You can tell they really care about the animals in their care.

I understand that these people are responsible for finding the best home possible for each and every animal however I wish they would do it with more class. My husband and I went in on Sunday to meet a dog we had been keeping an eye out on from their website. We spent a lot of time with this dog during the meet and greet. We filled out The application and we were told we would hear back on Monday or Tuesday. We followed up on Monday and we were told “we will push your application to the front” we heard nothing so Tuesday evening my husband called and was told “oh we will push your application to the front” Wednesday we were told that now they had a family coming in to meet the dog and then they would contact us. We never heard back, my husband called today and was told our application was declined and we were not able to be informed why. This was extremely frustrating. Instead of being told we were not a good fit we were just brushed off and lied to by the staff. We are both devastated. We would have appreciated the decency to be told so we could have moved on instead of having our hopes up. We also would have appreciated some constructive Criticism.

Really wish I could give them zero stars.They are terrible. They get your hopes up after you meet the dog & plan to adopt only to rip your heart out when you bring your in home dogs to meet the new dog. They come up with rules of how your in home existing dogs need to be neutered. Good thing the manager didn’t know we had a cat! He’d want her fixed as well... oh wait a minute, she already is!Last time I checked male dogs cannot get pregnant! Maybe I should teach them the science behind reproduction for dogs.Just want to say karma will come around to you male manager.

We adopted boo on Thursday. She's wonderful. Sits, gives paw. Walks nicely with harness they gave us. I'm so in love with her . I'll always adopt from here. But looking forward to a long life with boo. Thanks so much for my beautiful baby girl

We adopted our first furbaby from here about 5 years ago and had a wonderful experience. We loved her very much. She passed away last year. So we went back to Animal Protectors. We adopted our new furbaby this May. I had a terrible time trying to adopt her. Our family went and saw the dog on multiple occasions and when we said, "Hey we are ready to get her," it took them weeks to get her fixed. Then they continuously asked us if all of our family had met the dog. I overlooked everything because we loved the dog and knew that this place had a lot of volunteers. However, now we have had the dog for 2 months and the entire time we have had her we have been fighting Girardia. She was diagnosed with it 3 weeks after we got her. Our vet advised us that it was probably given to her at the shelter, as that is very common. I called the shelter multiple times and asked for a person in charge to contact me. I still have not received a call. I am extremely hurt and upset about how they don't seem to have a person in charge at their facility, plus that no one had the decency to call me back. I hope other dogs are not infected with this because it is a very contagious parasite. If you look at your reviews can you please respond because this should be something you need to be looking into.

This shelter does great work for the animals. We adopted a cat recently and the process went very smoothly and we were very happy with our experience. We will definitely look here next time we are looking to add another fur baby to the family.

This place has a strange way of meeting the animals there that I didn't care for. You would have to go there 3-4 times to meet, and greet and your only allowed to see the animals through a window at them and their kennels.i think they need a better way of being able to adopt a pet there.

I just love the animal protectors. Jodi and her fellow workers were always awesome when my three stooges got out. And boy did they give everyone their run for the money. When I had issues with my rescues/adoptees Jodi was always right there offering up advice and help. When one of my dogs got found before the others everyone there took awesome care of them. I have also referred them for cat adoptions.
