I had to get paint matched and use a special combo to get it done. I had a teenager in the paint department. He was awesome. He led me in the correct direction. Told me what to get and what to do. It turned out perfect. I thank him immensely!! This was at the new Kensington store.

I was there to pick up a lawn mower part that was left at the register. The cashier found the item and verified that it was the correct part for me with the parts department before I purchased it. I was unable to find the price on another item i was interested in and the cashier picked it up and carried the item to the register to confirm the price for me. I was delighted by the care and attention my purchase was given. Great service and I was treated very nicely.

This neighborhood hardware store is my favorite. They have everything that you would want without having to go to the big box store very friendly and helpful when you’re looking for something. And very well stocked with a wide variety of items.

This is a store that offers individualized personal service. I needed two small set screws last weekend. I was served by a gentleman who spent 10 minutes with me to help me select two 45 cent screws! He seemed glad to help me. Would you get that kind of service and help from Lowe's or Home Depot? Of course I usually spend more money at Ace Hardware Thrift Supply than 90 cents but if I ever need personal service the folks there are only to glad to help. Support locally owned businesses instead of large national stores that send their profits out of the local community.

I have been shopping here for a long time, and have generally had great customer service. I know several people who work there, and I often see someone I know shopping there every time I visit. Unfortunately, on a recent visit I encountered some dreadful service. While I suspect this was a localized incident, it reflects poorly on the store that otherwise has been a good local resource.I stopped in early one weekday morning to ask about paint mixing. I had a gallon of bottom paint for our boat, which is rather viscous and difficult to mix by hand. I was not sure if they would do this, but I wanted to ask if they would be able to throw it on their mixer for me. After the gentleman at the paint counter was off of the phone, I asked, “Hi, sir. What are the chances I could get you to put this on your mixer for me?” His first question was, “Where did you buy it?” I held up the gallon can and explained that it was (rather expensive) speciality paint, and I had purchased it from a marine supplier. He responded and said, “I’m not going to mix that. The lid is loose.” The lid, meanwhile, was factory sealed, with clips, and the supplier had applied tape over the clips to help keep them secure in transit. I tried to explain this, and then he said that they don’t mix paints people bring in.OK, so if your policy is not to mix paint not purchased in the store, then say that first. That would have been a totally acceptable answer for me. I wasn’t sure if this was a service they offered, which is why I was there to ask in the first place. I would have left sad that I was going to have to mix this by hand, but satisfied that I asked. It would not have been a negative interaction, and my general opinion of the store would have remained quite high. That is not what happened, though. Instead, I was subjected to this gentleman’s poor assumptions and attitude, as well as his unprofessional service posture. Are you not going to mix this paint because you don’t think it is sealed securely? Or because it is policy? Or because you just don’t feel like it? I don’t know, because during our short interaction, you said all three.Being helpful doesn’t necessarily mean doing everything the customer asks. It would have been helpful to me if he had just said that the store policy is that they won’t mix customer supplied paint. My question would be answered and I would know for next time. Being consistent about policy helps customers to know what to expect and to build the trust relationships that help to make them repeat customers.I still believe strongly in supporting local businesses and plan to continue doing that, but it is not always easy when gentlemen like this one leave a bad taste.

There is quite a lot of products here. The only area that's actually organized is the lawn and garden tool area. It is worth shopping here. I do hope the owner considers doing a renovation, and keeps it open. Their nut/bolt collection is fantastic. Along with other hardware items. They have a good amount packed in

Super friendly, knowledgeable staff. I have never walked in and not had an employee come up and politely ask if they could help me. They have a special department for lawn equipment and they fill your grill’s gas tank from a large tank on site. This is usually cheaper than the switch out method.

I bought a Toro Mower a week and a half ago, used it once, and the drive stopped working. I took it back hoping to either get my money back or exchange it for another mower. I have my original receipt, all the paper work etc. seems there policy is that they have to attempt to fix it before any of these other options become available. This is the first mower I have purchased from this place, I didn’t educate myself to their return policy prior to buying it, so that’s my mistake. However, when I took it in, and was made known of their policy, I was also told by Pat, I’m assuming the outdoor equipment manager that he would make sure to call me by the end of the day to let me know the status. I know this will be hard to believe, but he never called. So, I call there at 430, Pat is gone for day, and won’t be returning until Monday. So, I have half my lawn cut, a brand new mower that I can’t use, and no idea how long they will have it. 500 dollar lesson learned. Shop local, support local? There’s a reason I go to Lowe’s, if you have a mower for 3 months and decide you just don’t like it, let alone if it breaks down, they take it back, refund your money, or replace the mower. No questions asked.

My wife bought an utterly defective door knob today. The employee who helped her find what she needed did a great job, and the employee at the checkout was EXTREMELY understanding and inoffensive when I brought the defective knob back to return it. I was so furious that handling my return was no small feat of grace and professionalism. I was barely able to keep myself from screaming, but she was exceedingly kind and understanding. That kind of service goes above and beyond.However, I wouldn't ever, not even on a dare, buy another door knob from Ace. The knob I bought at Walmart was less than half the price, and installed in less than 3 minutes, with no swearing or screaming at all.

I called in seeking a very specific item. Walmart and Lowe’s couldn’t or wouldn’t help me. I spoke with Mary and she made the whole process very easy. When I came in , she had the item ready for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better service, especially after all I had gone through with the competitor. Ill make Ace my go-to place from now on. Every employee at this store is so helpful. They take their time to explain how to do whatever home repair you are attempting. I was just in there with a painting problem, showed their paint guy a picture of my garage door which was all streaky after I painted and he diagnosed the problem right away. He told me that I painted when it was too hot and that caused the streaking. Saved me from buying a new can of paint, because the paint wasn't the problem.

Went to get paint. Two gallons... different colors. They did'nt have color ingredients to mix what I bought there before. Second trip after they said they got the supply in... one gallon got mixed. Second one...oops - they didn't have the base to make it. Third time better be a charm..... cause I hate running back ! Who is in charge of ordering their supply ?????

Purchased a new Zero turn almost $9000.The mower broke while under warranty, approximately 50 hours. They tried fixing it, had the zero turn back to ace hardware about 10 times over four years. I have 149 hours on the mower now and it’s still not running.They tried to fix the mower and they were getting paid from the warranty. Now that the warranty is over they don’t want to fix the mower. They should of did the right thing by putting a new motor on the mower. Now I have a pile of junk. The sad part is out of 149 hours. 20 of those hours was from Ace hardware trying to fix it. If I was going to purchase a new Mower it surely will not be at Ace Hardware.

This review is for the mechanical service staff only. Store employees are very helpful, friendly, and quick to respond. I purchased a new Huske professional saw and got many years of good service. But I took the saw in because it was developing difficulty in starting. A new carburetor was installed and the saw started easily but stopped every time the throttle was released. When the carb was installed, the technician didn't get the gasket correctly lined up, letting too much air in the cylinder. He couldn't fix it because while installing, he stripped the manifold threads and thats the way I picked it up. A good store but avoid taking anything there to be repaired.

Just returned from Ace. Live locally and have been shopping there for many years. I was very disappointed today. Two to the salesmen were not wearing their facemarks correctly, below their noses. The worse was the tall black haired girl at the register who was not wearing one at ALL. She said she did not have to because there was a plastic shield. That is incorrect!! Obviously only cares about herself! All the customers had properly worn masks, but the employees do not adhere to the rules!!!!!

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible place horrible service. I have been shopping there for years and years. I bought door knobs but realized I would like to upgrade them so I took the unopened door knobs back to exchange for the better ones. I did lose my receipt and they REFUSED to allow me to do an exchange even though I would be purchaseing door knobs twice as expensive. My boyfriend is in construction and we both spend a ton of money in the store as do my mother and father. NONE of us will be spending any more money with them and we will be taking our business right up the road to Busy Beaver. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else.

The Husqvarna repair shop has quite a scam going. They keep a jar of old gasoline with a layer of scum on it and they show this to everyone who has an engine problem and they say that this is your gas if it`s older than 30 days. They`ll then rebuild your carburetor for $120. In my case I was told a few years ago by one of their techs that my saw has defective ignition modules that tend to crack making the saw impossible to start when it`s hot. If my gas looked anything like the stuff they keep in the jar it never would have started in the first place. I took my saw with me and I`ll never be back there again even if they can the witch in the repair shop.

Living in the local area, I try to support local business as much as possible. I recently took my lawn mower to Ace-Thift Supply for service and when I dropped off the mower, I was told by a worker that I could pick it up in two weeks. So two weeks and a few days go by and I arrived at Ace to pick up my lawn mower. Well, needless to say, my lawn mower was not ready for pickup. The worker was unable to provide me with justification as to why my mower was incomplete and gave excuses that parts sometimes take a long time to come in. The only part that my mower needed was a new air filter and possibly a new cutting blade. I am highly disappointed that the days of completing work in a timely manner is something of the past. I highly suggest that if you are in need for lawn mower service to avoid Ace-Thift Supply at all costs.

Great convenient hardware store. Associates are available and ready to help. Usually has best priced propane for commercial 20 lb. tanks. Also runs good sale prices on occassion.

Horrible store! Stay away! Employees don't know what they have in the store. I can give multiple examples where employees did not know what was on the shelves and i found it myself. Cashiers are rude, have had cashier had receipts with their back turned to me, over the shoulder. No Thanks ect. Don't even get me started on the paint department. Go elsewhere.

I have always used this store but, after going there yesterday, I won't go again. The clerk who helped me had a mask wrapped around his CHIN!!! Seemed to be pretending to follow the guidelines by wearing the mask, but since it didn't cover his mouth or nose ... I tried to stay back from him. Nothing they sell is worth the risk from a person like this. Obviously management was not protecting their customers.

I am done with this store. I purchased a Husqvarna Lawn tractor, Leaf Blower, and Hedge Trimmer from this place. They were friendly while selling the products. But they are so arrogant when you try to get any help with service. Tired of there attitudes, DON'T USE THIS ACE STORE.

Poor customer service. Took my Husqvarna lawn mower there for service. They told me they would not work on it because I did not buy it there. According to Husqvarna I can take it to any Hussqvarna dealer for service. I called a different Husqvarna dealer and they said where I purchased the equipment should not matter. Very poor and unhelpful experience.

The guy's there are so very helpful and wow do they know their stuff I go to other hardware store's and I'm left on my own most of the time I know what I want but when I'm stuck they are right there and they will even help you to your car I've seen it lot's of times with the older people and anyone terrific place and they're the only store I have found around this parts that actually sell's rope by the foot all kinds of rope Amazing

Tried to get a carburetor replaced on a husqvarna backpack leaf blower, but they would not service me because I did not purchase it there. It's like they dont want to make money. Sure as heck will never buy from there now!
