Animal Rescue, Inc really take care of their furry friends. Nice people if you are interested in a cat or dog. And the little furry friends in the office are always great to see. I will always support our no kill shelter. Every dog and cat deserve a nice family but for those little guys that have not found a good home yet, then this is where to be.

It was absolutely horrible what was done to my friend. Her application was approved for a dog. She chose a dog. She was then told the foster mother would not give up the dog. She chose three other dogs. She was told the same foster mother had all four dogs. And then, instead of fixing it, they told her “ oh it was a mistake. Your application was actually rejected.

I worked as a caretaker for 7 years and continue to work with ARI through my own nonprofit. Couldn't find a more altruistic rescue if you tried. Absolutely best place to adopt!

We had adopted a cat from pet smart in Bel Air Md. We had loved and cared for him for two years until he accidentally got out one night when a door wasn’t shut properly. We were devastated, we called the humane society and other local shelters, spent $1k on a search and rescue dog, set traps, alerted our vet, posters and put alerts out on our neighborhood app and fb- in total we spent over $2k. We did anything we could have possibly had done for over 2 months. It started getting colder and slowly that week he went missing went to months. He was found over 20 mins from our home and suspect someone had dumped him. This shelter had called us and alerted us that he was found- but since we had not called THEM they will not be giving us our cat back. What were yall going to do in PA when we were in MD- since it was a “breech of contract” we’ve now lost a part of our family because of some stupid contract. Do NOT adopt from here, we’ve told our family and friends, even coworkers. Shared this news to as many people as we could, it is absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking what you did to us and more importantly what your putting our cat through by not letting him come home where he belongs. It breaks me that all the time we spent with him, bonded with him, loved and cared for him means absolutely nothing to y’all, and yall our willing to take an important part of our family because we didn’t call you. Horrible.

Discriminatory practices, unprofessionalism, and greed. I would strongly recommend going to any other organization or a neighbor to adopt you next pet. This “business” genuinely does not have the animals interest in mind and it is immoral. The employees are cold and callus, cosplaying as animal protectors only to keep innocent animals in cages in numerous pet stores up and down 95 FOR PROFIT. Save yourself some time and find another source for your pet needs.

This place is so great .they neutered my 2 Rescue Tom cats for very reasonable price. I tried several vets but they where way too expensive. The people there are very nice and Thank you to all the volunteers and the staff for helping animals in need. They sure could use some donations so they could continue the wonderful jobs they are doing for our communities. Thanks for fixing my boys Tigger and Leo.

!!!DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!This place is extremely unprofessional, I don't understand how people are capable of adopting a cat from this garbage establishment. I tried adopting a cat that was already adopted 3 days prior to me trying and they gave me the thumbs up to go see a cat that was ADOPTED ALREADY!On top of that, I tried filling an application out, and they simply DO NOT CARE. They said that I would declaw my cat, my current home is not suitable for a cat ( EVEN THOUGH I CURRENTLY OWN A HAPPY 1 and 1/2 YEAR OLD KITTEN) and they said they attempted to contact me and my references, but NOTHING happened. Not a single call, AND they do not know how to write emails. Whoever writes their emails obviously failed middle school english.PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE, THEY DO NOT CARE, THEY ARE JUDGEMENTAL, AND THEY SEEM TO ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY THAT COMES FROM THIS.

Wonderful place to take your animals, even if it is out of the way. Very affordable, very friendly staff. Such a great group of people doing great things. If you rescue, foster, or are attempting to help control local cat populations, you can't beat the prices compared to local vets. We took our animals here and highly recommend them.

Don’t waste your time in trying to adopt a pet from this place. The application process is very frustrating and judgemental. They judge you on everything, and I really don’t think they want to find good homes for all the many homeless animals out there. There are so many other good animal rescue organizations to help out by giving a homeless animal a chance at a good life. Obviously this rescue doesn’t care about the animals. I wasn’t surprised in reading so many bad reviews from people who had the same bad experience as me. I just lost a diabetic cat who I gave insulin injections to twice a day for the past two years plus all the vet visits, associated expenses, not taking vacations so I could care for him, etc. I would say I was a responsible cat owner, but I was still rejected from adopting a cat. The only reason they gave was that a cat I had many years ago who passed away wasn’t up to date on his vaccines. Really?! So ridiculous. It’s a shame so many animals in their shelter will never have their happy forever homes because these people would rather keep them in cages.**In response to the owner’s response to my post, I did respond right away back to your email asking me about my one cat whom you says wasn’t seen by a vet for 10 years and I told you I had moved and taken him to another vet giving you the name of that vet. But you never bothered responding back to me, nor bothered to check with the veterinary that I gave you the name of. So that to me told me my application was denied. I do take my cats to the vet so you don’t need to tell me to “consider it”. I see you didn’t want to mention how many times I had taken my recent diabetic cat of 16 yrs to the vet but instead chose to focus on my cat that passed over 5 yrs ago. I’ve gotten approved to adopt cat from another more reasonable rescue.

They genuinely do not have the best interests of the animals at heart. They refused to communicate after we submitted our application. We called 5 days later. The coordinator leaves her voice-mail full so you can't even leave a message. We talked to the front desk. They told us the coordinator would call us. We never got a call but did get an email from the coordinator where she lied about statements we supposedly made in our application and used that as reason to justify her 'concerns' about our application. I have a copy of our application and can prove we never said what she claimed we did. We immediately replied to clarify, but received no response. Further calls went unanswered. This place is a scam. Read the other reviews. They will lie and make up any excuse they possibly can to prevent you from being able to adopt. Please note, they did say they had other applications for the dog we applied for. I am not upset because we didn't get the dog, but because they wouldn't let us come look at other dogs because our application wasn't approved.I feel sorry for the poor animals that these people "rescue". Stay far away.

Wonderful helpful organization. I can't speak on behalf of adoption but can with neutering and spaying. Every one was super helpful and pleasant. Only issue was getting an appointment took a bit but was worth it. The price is great and is wonderful for keeping the feral population down. Seems like most vets try to empty your pockets for the same service. I hope they can continue this as long as possible 🙏.

I typically don't write very negative reviews because I generally think positively and I know things are usually more nuanced than they seem. However, it is such a disappointing experience trying to adopt with this shelter. It takes days for them to respond to any type of inquiries. They insisted on knowing every detail about my previous vet records, and rejected my application because my new kittens hadn't received all vaccinations (my next vet appointment is literally next week to catch up on shots, but they wouldn't offer any chance for me to explain). Their staff was very inquisitive and interrogated all of my personal references to know about every bit of my life. And they will judge you-the emails sent from this shelter were the most judgmental I've ever read. They certainly do not care about your preferences or unique living situations; I feel that they were accusing me of not spending enough on my pets by their standards (which is NOT TRUE) while refusing to listen to any reasons. I think they will assume the worst of you because they care about their animals more than you. More importantly, I am very concerned that the adoption coordinator holds biased views toward minorities and treated me and my personal references this way because English is not our first language. I will certainly never work with them again.

Wonderful people and a wonderful service. This is the only place I go to for my cats and strays. $50 covers spay or neuter. No increase for females. Also included in that price are rabies and distemper vaccinations!

Trying to adopt from here ended up being a complete waste of almost a month of my time.I had met with a volunteer about adopting a cat in order to find a companion for my current cat, thinking that it's better to introduce him to a new cat while he's still fairly young. Being a stray originally he was already neutered and had his shots but didn't have medical records and local vets were booked up, which I was upfront about from the very start. I was told as long as we list which vet we would be taking him to in the future, it shouldn't be a problem. We went through the entire process, having references called, back and forth email correspondence trying to clear up any issues. After a few weeks I was again asked about my cat's medical records, and I told them why he doesn't have any yet. Now if they had responded within a day or two that the records were needed, I would have understood, but it took another ten days of waiting just to be told I was rejected with the only reason being the lack of very records for my current cat. That's over three weeks of waiting to be told I can't adopt for a reason I gave them from the very start.I didn't try to argue with the rejection as they stated it's non negotiable but I did voice complaints about the way things were handled. Their response? Nothing. I don't really blame the representative I met with but the entire experience has left me feeling very frustrated. I won't be trying again with them.

This place does great work sheltering doggos, kitties and occasional goats. Their spay/neuter clinic is professional and efficient, not to mention a bargain price! They are a no kill shelter that cares for many poor animals so that they will always have a home.

It was a very disappointed and even disheartened process. The person in charge of the adoption center in Petsmart Towson, MD emailed us saying something that we are not responsible cat parents after she checked our vet records.Regardless of any other reasons she gave, one of the reasons is that we are not keeping their vaccines up-to-date and they did not test FeLV. Ok... first, even though you let us contact our vet to release medical records, please let me ask a question. For human beings, there is a HIPAA wall to protect the handling of medical information; what kind of license does this lady have? Vet record is also considered as medical record which contains so much personalized information; ok, we allow you access it because we sincerely want to adopt a cat from your shelter, but please after you viewing them, no judgement!!! This is the rule you should follow when dealing with any sort of medical records. Our cats (two fluffy balls) are kittens, so they were not at the age of Rabies... Also they had some sneezings so the vet didn't recommend us to receive any other vaccines at this point. Remember each of our vet visit is ~$100. We have insurance for each cat, which is ~$40 each month, in total $80 per month. Let me know how many families are willing to invest in pet health these much? And you are saying we are not responsible to our pets??? This is so absurd. Also, one had 4 shots of distemper and one had 3 distempers already, so let me know what do they lack? We have one pure-bred ragdoll cat and one adopted from shelter at a very young age (<9 weeks). The shelter cat was tested negative for FeLV at its shelter and the pure bred one does not need any testing, based on what the vet said. I just want to say it's so disheartened to be judged like this even though we have spent a lot of time and money on keeping our cats healthy and happy. And I don't want to associate it this "special treatment" with any sort of race stereotype issues. I know that you care about your cats a lot and I agree they should be cared and the screening process should be strict. But please don't put yourself at a higher position to look at us applicants. Any applicants that spent time filling out forms, emailing and calling with you are trying to contribute and should be fully respected! We are not bad people who want to just take away your cats; we are people who are willing to give them a better life. The next time if you are choosing from a candidate pool and ready to reject the others, please just reject directly, and please don't judge!!! This is so unfair for us to be commented in this way!!!

0 stars if I could leave it. Completely waste of time. You do better going somewhere else. I am not going in detail, however I only wanted companion. Told that their animals were not trained for emotional support. That they could not adopt. I didn't need a service animal. And second you can't train a cat for emotional support. They are naturally like that .

Listen to the reviews. This place is nuts oh. I finally had the chance to foster since no other pets in house. (I didn't want to give my current pets any illnesses coming from fostering) They denied because my indoor cats whom passed weren't up to date on their vaccines. On top of that we were denied because we were part of another foster place and we had kittens. Yes, but wanted to find someplace closer after we were done our current fostering. So I wasn't driving so far to pick up. Don't waste your time. I'll stick to the drive with whom I wasn't chastised about.

Overall, this rescue is a great rescue in terms of doing the job of saving animals in need. I used to volunteer for them when it was Maryland Line Animal Rescue several years ago for about 4 years (summers). I would say in the past few years their customer service has greatly declined to being adequate, but it used to be good. I have dealt with them a few times for spay and neuter clinic and each time I have been greeted with someone who just really wasn’t pleasant to talk to. I have attempted to volunteer again several times by submitting an application and calling several times to follow up and heard nothing. What has lead me to this review is trying to deal with the neuter clinic again. I have a busy schedule and I called late night simply to leave a voicemail (with no expectation of an answer) for what I assumed was the office and for the person who would come in in the morning and hear it. The next day I was called in the evening to be rudely informed of the coordinator working from home and how she “would appreciate if I wouldn’t call her at 12 am because her day starts at 3 am and she doesn’t appreciate the phone ringing at midnight”, followed by someone laughing in the background. I just apologized politely and got off the phone. The number I called was off of the website for the spay/neuter clinic, which shouldn’t be connected to someone’s personal number. I understand, working from home it may be necessary or no other alternative (however there definitely could be), but I found it extremely rude to make that comment. This was honestly my final straw with this rescue and raking with them personally. Of course I will recommend people to them for adopting and fostering, but don’t be mistaken that it is for the sake of the animals, not the staff.I can admit when I am in the wrong. I shouldn’t have called at midnight to leave a voicemail, I should have tried the next day at a time when I may have had a moment. However, I apologized and if it is someone’s personal number that should be noted, otherwise, people call businesses after hours and leave voicemails all of the time.Thank you for the wonderful past and participating in my career towards animals, as I’m now in classes to become a vet tech, but I can see my future in dealing with them must come to an end for now.

They should have a zero star rating for this rescue! I used to take care of a neighborhood stray cat years ago but I moved and it was best for her to stay behind where she was familiar and a few neighbors fed her as well.I found out that she was in their shelter due to old age so I inquired to see if I could give her a good end of her life indoors as she was an outdoor cat her whole life. They were not very helpful and when I requested to go to the shelter to find her, they would not let me and insisted that she wasn't there. I know that she is from a reliable resource and they just stopped responding to my emails. They definitely don't care about the animals or they would have let me find her and give her a good home. I have since found out that they had something against one of my old neighbors and it's the only reason I can imagine that they didn't make this adoption happen. Pretty shameful that a grievance with an ex employee would deter them from helping an animal. I believe all of their bad reviews and don't think they have good business practices, their priorities are out of line.EDIT*** That's odd because you told me you didn't know what cat I was talking about which is why I wanted to visit your shelter but you would not allow me! I will never do business with Animal Rescue Inc. Maybe there is a reason for all of your bad reviews that need a closer look.

Do not take your pets to get fixed! This place is a scam! Took our 7-month old cat there today, and on the way he had an accident in his carrier, and we were courteous enough to tell them. The ladies up front kind of shrugged and said okay, no problem. They charged us $10 for them to clean it up, without so much as a heads up. Only to find out that they ALSO charged us about $16 for *supposedly* flushing his ears for ear mites. He was just at the vet a few weeks ago and was given ear medicine. He doesn't have ear mites. We will not be taking any of our pets here ever again. I always supported Animal Rescue because this is the place where I got my childhood dog, who was my best friend. Shame these people have shown their true colors. All they care about is the money and ripping you off.

I'm surprised their rating is this good. I tried to adopt from them a little over 3 years ago and they were rude when I was looking at the dogs and then I applied for one, like one of the other reviews complaining of given no answer why they were refused, the only reason they gave me was because I had a dog door. I fostered for the SPCA. They had done a home inspection and approved my house, dog door and securely fenced in yard. I even kept 5 foster animals that they deemed unadoptable for health or behavior issues and cared for them till they had to be euthanized due to their health issues. They all survived between 3 to 7 years and I still have two of them. I didn't go as far as the other one star reviewer as there are many other rescues that are great. I did adopt two elderly dogs from two different great rescues. One did a home inspection and when they saw how I cared for my animals and heard of my experience with fostering and adopting they ask me to do a home inspection of an adopter near me. This rescue didn't even do a home inspection!! Don't give up if they refuse to adopt to you and please search for a good rescue to save an animal who needs a loving home. These people have no idea how to evaluate the fitness of a potential adopter and frankly don't even bother to try.

I can't think of anything negative to say! 10 Stars if I could!Truly wonderful people and I highly appreciate their respect and care they give to animals.I first came here 9 years ago to have my male cat neutered. A year later brought my female. Was just here a week ago to have another female cat I own spayed. Every time was a positive experience!Their prices for clinics are unbeatable and I drive out of my way to come here. I also really appreciate the fact I can pick up my cat the same night of surgery so I can have the peace of mind watching over them the first night.Thank you so much for everything you guys do! You make such a difference to this community. I will continue to refer everyone to your facility.

I love this place. It was my first time coming here today to check out a dog for my mother. The staff were EXTREMELY helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. The dog unfortunately, did not workout but, they are going to keep us in mind when new dogs cycle in. They have everything there. Goats, chickens, koi fish, dogs, cats, etc. The landscape is beautiful and they really seem to care about the work they are doing.

I believe everyone was kind and helpful that we met. However, the adoption process felt too judgmental and critical. We are very good dog owners and were open to being a loving home. We live next to park, have tons of assistance with walking, caring for and loving our dogs. We were ruled out based on the fact that the dog snarled while on a leach when meeting our 2 dogs who were also leached and excited to meet him. No growling or biting occurred just a meet and greet. I don’t think this is behavior to rule out a loving family for a rescue dog. We drove 40 minutes, 3 separate times to visit and were willing to do what ever it took to make the dog adapt well. Don’t waste your time or your heart on this rescue. There are so many more wonderful places who care but aren’t this critical and unaware of basic dog behavior.

I am very disappointed in our experience with this rescue. I will start by saying that I do believe that they care for and love the animals. We came to the rescue looking to adopt a dog. At first we did not have a specific one in mind, we went just to look. The volunteer at the front desk was not welcoming at all. She asked if we had looked online and what specific dogs we wanted to see. I was caught off guard because I had been to another shelter where they let us go look at the dogs and the volunteers gave us suggestions of dogs that would do well with kids. That was not the case here. We ended up looking online on our phones and naming a few dogs. She let me go back to look at the specific dog that I asked about. The volunteer knew nothing about the dog I was interested in. I was able to bring her out and introduce her to my kids once I had spent a few minutes with her and got to know her temperament. We started the adoption process that day. We went back on 3 occasions to visit the dog we wanted to adopt; all 3 times she was in her crate & I was told that she was so energetic bc she had not been walked yet (this was around 2pm). There were other dogs that were allowed to run free in the yard, so maybe there was a reason this dog was not in the yard that I was unaware of. On one occasion I was able to speak to the person who called our references for our application. I explained to her that my son was getting very attached to this dog and I wanted to prepare myself and him if we were not going to get her. She told me that she was familair with my application and that we would likely get her. After going through the entire process, I received an email 16 days after our application was filed that stated we were declined because of "home & location". After waiting all that time, the adoption committee couldn't even return my phone call to tell me their reasoning for denying us. We live down a back road on a gravel lane with 2 acres of land and my house is backed up to woods, so I'm not sure what kind of "home & location" they would have deemed worthy. I'm assuming the issue is that we don't have a fence, but that is something that was on our application from the beginning and that I spoke with the adoption coordinator about. If that was an issue than we shouldn't have been led to believe we were going to get the dog for over 2 weeks. I understand that this shelter is run by mostly volunteers and that things may take longer because of that. My issue is that there was very little consideration or compassion for a family that grew to love this dog. I'm upset that we were not able to get this dog, but also in how the situation was handled. I hope that the sweet pup that we love will find a wonderful forever home soon. 😞
