Discount store. Entrance not on Route 15 even though you see the store. Need to turn by the Sheetz and the entrance looks like you are going into Subway.Check prices & expiration dates. Not all items are a bargain.Was able to find bulk organic 10x sugar @ $1.19 lb.

They're starting to think they're a lot more special than they are. The prices have skyrocketed, in many cases well over 100% from a year or two ago. And that's for expired food. Some of it is egregiously expired by years. For a lot of the stuff they try to sell, you can now go to Weis or Aldi and literally get the equivalent (that's actually in date) for a lower price! Again, they've recently started to think they're a real grocery store, which they very much aren't. At best, they're a hit and miss place to snag a deal on one or two particular shelf stable items while trying to avoid accidental food poisoning.If they want to complain about their costs going up, maybe they could start working on that by figuring out why the front corner "office/desk" has to be manned by a half-dozen gossiping women to yell at the cashiers and actual workers all day.

Got a few good deals. Prices are low, but beware...most items are at or past their expiration date. We accidentally bought slim Jim's that were bad...checked the expiration...July 2017. That's just disgusting. How is that legal?

I have meticulously counted the outlets inside this business and I've concluded that there are an average number of outlets. If there is no surplus of outlets, then I'm EXTREMELY confused by the name.

It hasn't changed, since the last time I've been in there. Which was awhile ago. It's suppose to be a low cost store, but you gotta watch your prices on items, even on expired items, too!!

Everything I bought at the store I checked out on the Walmart app. I paid 52.04 here, at Walmart in Lewisburg it would have been 102.80. all food is in date.

Always get good deals. Items are fairly organized. A decent selection. Because this is a store that gets some damaged pallets they don't always have the same thing. Some things are packaged together. Like packets of brown gravy. Tonight I got 30 packets of brown gravy and 5 Alfredo in a package for $1.99 you can't beat that. Got some meal starter bags assorted flavors 10 for a $1.00 You can get quite a bit of food pretty cheap.

Please train and orient your cashier's on what items are nontaxable. Most of the time I buy anything that is a clothing item, and they tax it!!!. I have corrected them too many times, then the manager has to come out from behind the desk and rectify it, which leads to an inconvenience of my time and theirs. There is absolutely no reason anyone has to be reminded that clothing is not taxed in PA!!!

I have been to Surplus a few times now, it has great prices and everyone is very friendly and professional. The produce is partially local and fresh the prices throughout the store are amazing but it’s not really a store you can take a list to and get everything on your list but the things you can get are really good deals and quality. Just check your freshness dates.

Overall it was a good experience but the grapes in the produce section need to be thrown out there was bugs all over the bags the grapes are mushy I think somebody could check up on produce a little better. This is really a cool store. I stopped here thinking, it was a military surplus supply and it turned out to be a food store with very good prices. The staff in the store are professional and kind. I highly recommend this place because it has great parking and plenty to choose both in grocery and home goods. 4/21/23.

I am so angry. I was just there and got out to my car. I never paid attention to the amount as I swiped my card. I was charged for 99 heads of lettuce instead of one at .97.i had to go back to the store. Instead of just crediting me the full amount for the .99 heads, they had to make sure they got out a calculator to figure out how much credit to give me. They made sure I was charged the .97 cents. Good business would be to at least give me the one head. It took 3 employees to figure it out while I steamed. I even said good practice would be to just credit the full amount of the lettuce as this is so petty. I was ignored.

Their prices are good and the staff are friendly and efficient. The downside is that you can't always count on finding what you're looking for. Their produce does seem to be pretty consistent, and some of it is grown locally, in season.

A unique shopping experience. Even if you decide this is not your kind of place, it is worth visiting just for the experience. Have you ever wondered what happens to expired grocery items that don't sell on clearance? Or stuff that doesn't sell at the dollar store? Well if it isn't turned into pet food, or sent to a third world country, it might end up here.Caution though, just because something is being sold here doesn't mean it's a great price. So having some experience with dollar stores, big lot stores, etc is useful for identifying real bargains.

Love this store, though I wish they never closed their Berwick location. It's worth taking the trip to save money but it's a 45 minute drive to get there.

The reduced prices are definitely needed these days. There is a large variety of groceries available just keep an eye on the use by dates!! I have always found the staff to be very friendly.

Kind of like stepping back in time. Had a decent selection at this location. The staff was genial enough and was marginally informative when asked a question. The interior is a little dreary, but it was well organized and easy to navigate. The prices are decent, but as with everything you have to pick and choose, watch dates, and they do accept EBT. Produce selection is okay.

I always shop at this store but after today I have decided to not come here anymore… I go to check out an said hello how are you to the cashier an got no answer she rolled her eyes an started scanning then when she was done scanning all my items she didn’t even tell me the total she just asked debit or credit I told her cash an she rolled her eyes again I handed her the cash an when she gave me the change she just thru it on the turn thing that the bags are on… I literally just walked out even with out my change she acted as if i was good enough to shop there…very sad because I really like to shop there but I guess I will find another store

Cost of living and food is getting expensive. Here you can budget and find good deals. Watch dates but also have plenty not out of date. Lots of food available and many choices on each item. Lots of produce also.
