This place sells Hershey’s ice cream and was pretty good. They had lots of unique flavors and had no sugar added flavors, too. The place is pretty large inside. The only reason for the 4 stars is they only have 6 chairs outside and no tables/chairs inside. There was plenty of room to add some seating. While we were there several families came and there was hardly room for all to sit. There is ample parking.

Very good for the price! Ordered one scoop of two different flavors and the size was more like four scoops, very nice and definitely very old school. I loved that it had parking despite being downtown. Loved the selection of flavors as well.

Just moved into town and was amazed by the price and quantity of ice cream. It was absolutely delicious and very refreshing on a hot day! The dipped waffle cone was such a treat as well. Definitely looking forward to taking friends and family here when they visit :)

This place is a Mechanicsburg classic. Every time you stop here, there are families enjoying quality time together in the parking lot. I love coming here with my mom and hearing stories of her growing up walking here on the way home from school, and how it used to look. Plus, I love that I can get Hershey's ice cream here!

First time visiting Rakestraw's Ice Cream and they have an extensive variety of great tasting ice cream. The only reason that they didn't get five stars is that they don't have frozen sherbet or frozen custard.They have sherbet now, so my estimation is rising. Now, if only they had a third set of table and chairs out the front!

The Banana Pudding ice cream is the best. I can't find anywhere else that has it like they do. My husband also says the Teaberry is very good and minty.

Always have a great experience here! I have had the milkshakes and hand dipped ice cream. It’s delicious and the employees show wonderful customer service! If you’re looking for a wonderful time this is the place to go!

iconic ice cream store in Mechanicsburg. I paid my first visit and was impressed by the friendly staff and clean atmosphere. I was disappointed with the ice cream. I was expecting to find local churned and disappointed that a popular local brand was being used . Ice cream was good but did it meet expectations.

Had an absolutely terrible, embarrassing experience. First, the menu/prices are not well displayed (probably where this entire awful experience started). My wife ordered a dish of ice cream and I order a waffle cone with ice cream. The total came out to just under $15. I asked the gentleman how it was that expensive because a waffle cone was $2.16. He informed me that that was the price of just the cone and that a waffle cone had 2 scoops. I told him that i only had $10 and then asked them for 1 scoop of ice cream along with my wife’s ice cream. In the meantime, I am trying to look and understand the menu with no luck. The price came out to be over $12. I told the gentleman again that I only have $10 and couldn’t understand how 2 small dishes of ice cream was over $12, so I asked and then found out that one of my dishes was limited edition. I told him that I just want 1 scoop of normal ice cream in a dish. Which he then did. As that was happening, I was again looking at the menu. The menu said 1 scoop dish was $4.72. With 2 dishes, I had enough with my $10 ($4.72 plus tax comes out to $10 exactly). He came back with the ice cream and told me the total was $11.83 or something like that. Which I responded to him for the third time “I only have $10”. His response to me was “Take the other dish, you’re done” and shut the window. I have never in my life been to a place where I was treated this way by a restaurant employee. I was obviously confused and not understanding the menu. I am definitely at fault for that. I thought I was ordering items that were under the amount of money that I had. Rather than helping me understand, I was made to feel like an idiot. I’ll never go back.

Nice tastey ice cream assortment from some Pennsylvania (and other places) creameries. Limited amount of vintage style soda and candy. Lacks any indoor or outdoor seating. Average staff.

One of the wife’s and mine favorite ice cream shops in central pa. They have a great selection of flavors and generous sized scoops. If you dare to order 2 scoops you better be hungry. They have several options when ordering so take your time figuring out what you want and there won’t be any issues. They have regular flavors and for a little extra you can get the limited addition flavors. In the fall they usually have pumpkin it’s my absolute favorite flavor they carry. They also have the common suspects tea berry, Moose tracks, graham slam, mint chip, and ect. Every flavor I have tried has been great. If you enjoy ice cream give them a try.

I went here as a kid very often and it was one of the best places for ice cream around. I decided to take my wife and daughter as we were visiting family. I ordered a larger chocolate malt milkshake, my wife had a small Oreo milkshake and my daughter got a single scoop of vanilla in a dish. Total came out to 18.97, seemed high but with the way they have their prices laid out on the menu it wasn’t the easiest to understand. Come to the milkshakes, both were very milky with not much ice cream. The malt in the chocolate shake was clumpy as if they didn’t mix it. Needless to say for the price, the experience was not worth it.

We had an older women serve us and as we were looking at the menu she was rushing us to order. Once we had all decided on what we wanted (which took a while because the menu is not clear or easy to read ) we started ordering and she proceeded to tell us that the items we wanted where not available. They weren’t crossed off or marked as such. We changed our orders to fit what they had (rush and talked down to while doing so) once we got our ice creams, that same old lady was so nice and helpful towards the other customers. I couldn’t help but feel like there was racial bias there considering we were the only POC there at the time. The lady made me and my younger brother so uncomfortable, never going back!

Very expensive price. Felt they tried to undercut the full priced cones. Wouldn't mind paying but I only got 1 1/2 scoops. Also long line and only one window one order at a time. Three people attempted to cut in line till I admonished them. The employee at the window has limited vision of the line and cannot interceed. I did and was immediately unpopular. I had a friend with cancer along for an ice cream treat who was having some pain stayed in the car and I needed to run air conditioner till served. The single window with a long line is not fun. Also no prices are listed in window. Only flavors.

The ice cream is delicious and it has a charming atmosphere! My two biggest complaints are while they do give a nice scoop of ice cream, the bottom of the waffle cone is very empty and there is no indoor seating, even though they have the space for it. A couple tables would add more charm to the experience, but overall, I was very happy with the service and that shouldn't deter people from coming to get some good ice cream!

Let me start by saying, I REALLY LOVE GOOD ICE CREAM. This place is beyond good. The flavor assortment and choices are amazing, and they change often. They are always coming up with new flavors to delight the tastebuds. I got the lemon today...it was beyond delicious! Their ice cream is creamy, smooth, with incredible flavor. It's worth the trip. I also enjoyed the vintage feel and look of the interior...the black and white checked floors and the uniforms of the employees. If you are looking for AWESOME ice cream...look no further, you'll find it here.

Had to take out a loan just to pay for this ice cream… with interest rates on the rise, won’t be able to afford to go there much longer. Inside dining is still closed so when we asked where we could eat we were pointed to their parking lot wall to lean against. Not great if you wanted to just walk here in the summer with kids. BYO chair I guess? Dairy Queen / Urban Churn it is!
