I recently bought a pet and needed to return it due to health problems with her. While the outcome was not something we desired, it was the actions of the store manager that brought upon my rating. She cared for the pet as one of her own and showed the same love and compassion we had for our pet, taking it immediately to an emergency vet over an hour away, and caring for it at her home because she needed constant care. She also called us with all updates. She is very good at what she does and a very caring and compassionate person when it comes to animals. The attention she gave to our pet is remarkable. Without naming her, again, thank you!

The service in the store is excellent. My son got a new friend Chocolate. It's our second hamster from Petco. The previous hamster Cute lived for 2 years. Two years ago and now the service and consultations were excellent. Thank you for your work.

I go to the store religiously, for fish and for my dog. I know most of the staff and they are excellent, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve never had a bad experience except for with the dog trainer. She is extremely rude, to me and my partner. Her tone is unprofessional and the moment I didn’t agree with something she tried to teach me she became passive aggressive and walked away. Everyone else in the store is amazing, and I love this store. This was my only bad experience.

Employees are super helpful and very friendly. They take time to answer questions and help you find what you need. They paid attention to the dog and gave him a treat. Thanked us for coming in. Store was clean and well stocked. Great selection of dog toys and treats. Got a dog bed on sale for $25 which is a fantastic price. We highly recommend Petco.

I purchased a bag of WHOLE HEARTED PERFORMANCE DOG FOOD on 1/14/24 at the MECHANICSBURG PETCO, my dog ate it in the morning and while I was as work vomited on the floor, I then went to feed her dinner and she would not eat any of the food and backed away from her food dish, out of curiosity I smelled her food and you could tell it was off, so I looked at the date on the bag best by 3/8/23, we went back to return the bag in the hopes of getting a bag of good dog food, but instead we find that every bag is expired there’s one from august of 2022 and go to the register to get a refund, we explained the issue to the woman at the register Roberta who was very apologetic and respectful, she calls for the floor MANAGER Kelly to come up front who then continues to raise her voice because there is bags of dog food sitting on the floor in the back, because it makes more work for her, and says “YOU DO NOT PUT BAGS OF DOG FOOD ON THE FLOOR OF MY STORE I HAVE TO PUT THEM BACK ON THE SHELF AND SHE DOESN’T HAVE TIME FOR IT” which means they are still going to sell food that is expired, in the course of this interaction Kelly did not once apologize or even listen to anything we had to say, and walked awayTHIS IS NOT OK AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH, WHY SELL DOG FOOD THAT EXPIRED A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND THE LEVEL OF DISRESPECT FROM KELLY IS ASTONISHING, I WILL NEVER BE SHOPPING AT PETCO AGAIN AND I HOPE OTHERS WILL NOT EITHER OR AT LEAST BE CAUTIOUS WITH WHAT THEY PURCHASE AND THAT IT MIGHT BE ONE TO TWO YEARS EXPIRED

I don't know if it was because it is Sunday or if it was due to the grooming area being busy, but there were some of the most miserable employees there today. Ignored me when I asked for help and kept giving me rude looks. When I was finally able to get help to be rung, the two cashiers seemed annoyed and had miserable looks on their faces.Retail working can be awful and I know that, but it's always good practice to try and have at least a less obvious hatred. Other than that, the store had a good selection and had what I needed for my pets. I will be back because I do believe it was just an off day, but it did make me weary of making a purchase.

The help finding what I wanted was excellent but checkout was confusing about where to go. Grooming should be around the corner instead of by the exit door. I was there before to pick up an online purchase and it took me at least 15 minutes to get waited on and I had to feel rude by interrupting and asking if I could get my purchase that I already paid for.

Went in for a certain hamster, very kind associate stated she bites, and directed us to hamsters that are more friendly. It was very nice of her to do that cause if she hadn't we would probably be very upset once we got home and found out.

Carlisle Pike store:Their staff has a good knowledge of salt water aquariums. Some nice sales right now as well. You can even buy ocean water there to quickly start your aquarium! Very helpful if you're a beginner! Nice staff.

I was a very loyal customer of this location in Mechanicsburg until this lady by the name of Kelly decided to pretty much call me a liar all because I explained to her directly on how she made me felt simply on a question that I was asking her. You said it yourself that you did not want to push me to another location but yet that's exactly how you made me feel. Then you get upset because I basically told you that that's exactly what you did and then you tell me to go right ahead cancel my vital care program because you all didn't need a customer like me. That's a very awful way to talk to a customer that spent a good bit of money In fact a good bit of my hard-working money on your store. So now I'm moving on to another location a place that treats me a lot better with nothing but the most respect and that is pet supplies plus in lemoyne. You folks should come there they are fair to everyone. And to those folks that may read this review and get irritated offset with my opinion. What I want to say to you folks this is more about respect on how you get treated as a customer then anything else. And I will only spend my money in a location that respects their customers. It's not about who's right or who's wrong it's about how you speak to someone and how you treat them.

The grooming area is always so helpful,even with the new trainees.Ms Krystal is a wonderful groomer,she listens and gives our Olive her cute cuts and mani-pedi's.I think we need blinder for the front paws.lol

I love this store ,it's not overbearing ,it's cool spot parking was plentiful but to be fare when I went it wasn't that many people I would have to visit on a busy day to se how bad parking really is however when I went it was perfect like around 1 pm ,the staff isn't super friendly but their not rude either so it was great for me

Incredibly disappointed. Having been to Petco for grooming services before, I was optimistic. I was not expecting to leave feeling so disrespected and disappointed by the service. I have never once left a negative review -- this experience deserves one.Upon arriving, the employee explained that one of my dog's ears looked a little matted and that they would likely have to cut that ear pretty short. "Aside from that one ear, the rest of his body looks great!" she continued cheerfully before asking my permission to shave additional mats should they find any. I agreed, but asked them to call should they find anything serious. Having officially dropped my pet off, I awaited the call to come pick my dog up.I was surprised that the service took only a little over two hours, though I returned to pick up my pet. I was greeted with a lecture from the manager. Believing the lecture to be well intentioned, I asked what had gone wrong. The manager continued, "only lazy dog owners let it get this bad" and "you are treating your dog badly." She then began to advertise Petco products that I could use to "take better care of [my] dog."I was irate. Before the appointment, I had been told that everything looked normal aside from a single mat. Upon returning, the manager was incredibly demeaning. After lecturing me for nearly five minutes, she sent me to pay my bill where the cashier asked if I wanted to buy any products so I could "treat my dog better" next time.I paid. I then went back to the counter to pick up my dog. When the employee brought my dog out, he was practically bald. The employee informed me that the mats were infinitely worse than they had thought (in spite of the fact I was initially told his body looked great), and so they had shaved his whole body. While I understand needing to take care of the mats, I do not understand being told that everything was great, only to find otherwise -- at the bare minimum I would have appreciated a call during the service to inform me of the situation and ask how I'd like to proceed.The cut was awful. They had only shaved half of his tail, leaving the other half the original length and in a style that I had specifically asked them to avoid at the beginning of the appointment. Additionally, his face was entirely uneven -- the fur around his face was cut sloppily and was a variety of lengths. Entire sections of his face had not been cut, and other portions of his body were either uneven or had been missed. Frankly, it was sloppy. I paid nearly $100 for this service and am incredibly unhappy with it.I would never recommend this grooming service. I have had mostly positive experiences with Petco in the past. Regardless, to be called lazy and a terrible dog owner is entirely inappropriate and left me speechless at the store.Our dog is well fed, well trained, and cared for deeply. In the future, I obviously need to do a better job of brushing his fur -- though this by no means excuses the treatment that I received at this location today. Though Petco likely does not care, they have lost my business from this single experience.

Petco in Mechanicsburg is one of these best I have been to. When you ask for advice they are very helpful and knowledgeable. Kelly has helped me out a great deal after loosing my hamster.

Bought whole hearted performance dog food yesterday and it made my dog sick so i looked at the date and it expired in march of 2023, brought it back to return it and went to get a new bag and every bag on the shelf expired in 2022, i have pictures of the dates on the bags, so i wasnt putting 2 year old expired dog food back on the shelf for someone else to grab and have their dog get sick so i left it on the floor under that shelf and the manager kelly came up to the registers while we were getting a refund freaking out about leaving the bags on the floor that she has too much to do today to have to put them back on the shelves, i said why are you putting them back on the shelves and she walked away. The check out girl robertta was very nice and apologized for kellys rude behavior as a manager.

I was looking for a particular brand of pet treats for my grand doggies. The manager at the Mechanicsburg store helped in my search. When there were none to be found she looked online for the manufacturer. She then ordered them to be shipped directly to my home. I wish I could remember her name. She was so very helpful and pleasant. She is an asset to your company! Thank you!

The staff appears very unhappy & unfriendly. We struggled finding our pets things ; when we did there was some on one shelf the rest of the same food around the corner . There was zero customer service and the store was cluttered.I am glad there are other options as I won’t visit this location anymore

after browsing these horrific reviews i thought it was time i added mine.. i have cats, rodents and reptiles so im going to the pet store weekly. let me start with the lack of inventory. if they do finally have my cats food, its likely not even stocked and someone has to dig around in the back. understaffed, i get it, i noticed that and love pets aswell so i than tried to get employed at this location specifically. both apprentice positions, as i have adequate experience with animals aswell as entry level associate positions. despite actively hiring and obviously being very understaffed, i was completely ghosted. i applied to this store at least a handful of times in the span of three months, talked to two managers and a few associates aswell, still no answer. which leads me to the point along the line when yall started charging extra for plastic bags, my mom commented on how wild that was with no bias and a young woman with dyed hair was EXTREMELY cocky and rude all over correcting her about how theyre trying to save the environment… which if that was truly the case and not just a way to get someone to mindlessly pay for something why not switch to something biodegradable or recycleable..? same woman was also very annoyed at having to get cat food from the back as if thats not her job. i also recently called to ask if you guys accepted small animals for grooming. after being arrogantly greeted on the phone, i was cut off with an agressive no and immediately hung up on. its very unfortunate as ive seen the quality of care and work in this facility slightly improve which means someone’s doing their job right, and its so unfortunate that im coming here to complain and not give the few associates there that do work hard and pull their weight the credit they deserve, as you can easily tell those who do and do not in that store which is so unprofessional.

The staff is friendly and helpful every time I visit. I purchased a White's Tree Frog from them recently. About a week or so later, he seemed to be acting differently and not eating. I took him back to have them look at him and ask some questions. The cashier called someone over who was more knowledgeable about frogs than she was. He was very helpful, said the frog looked healthy and I just needed to raise my temps, and recommended a certain wattage for bulb. It worked, my frog is happy and eating. I also bought two leopard geckos a year ago and they are happy and healthy as well.
