Wow such a great experience even tho it was only over the phone. The lady I spoke with just oozed with care and concern about our lost puppies. I will forever be happy with the way she treated me. Wish I could remember her name.

The people tending to the pets at the Humane Society treated the missing and stray animals in their care with dignity and respect. Went there with my friend to pick up two of his dogs that had escaped and run off. They were tagged and examined before they left. For an overnight stay for 2 animals, it was a pretty good experience.

We thought that we wanted a young female cat. The helper worked with us to meet the females that were available. One by one we ruled them out. Knowing the personality that we wanted to find, she introduced us to a wonderfully lovable male. Toby has been with us for a month now. The facility was impressively clean, cages were roomy, lighting was bright, and the workers were very very helpful. We are very pleased and highly recommend adopting from here.

Called the night before traveling 4 hours to come and adopt a pet. Was not informed of all the details before I showed up. I was reasonably upset when I found out that I would be unable to adopt the puppy after meeting up with her. Mirada, was very objectional to anything I was trying to explain called me rude for being upset that I was not informed of everything to expect despite my asking questions in regards to the adoption process. If you want to adopt a pet know 1. Everyone in the house needs to be available for the meet and greet. 2. You will not be able to adopt the same day. 3. It doesn't matter if you bring your vet records to show that your animal is up to date on their shots.

Lost puppy on 1/18/19, called and left a message and they called me back as soon as they opened to help. They have my information and are being so supportive and helpful looking for Sweet. Fantastic people dedicated to animals. Thank you, still no luck finding her; but we will NOT give up.

Staff was so mean and not understanding at all. I was told I could adopt a dog then told the next day I couldn’t. Do not try to adopt a dog from them if you are young they are complete bulldozers, I felt like the dog was mine and it was taken from me but there was nothing I could do.

I am all about supporting local rescues/adoption centers; however, I am very disappointed in the Crawford County Human Society. About 3 months ago, my husband and I adopted a female orange tabby from them, about 1 year old. When I asked if she was spayed, they said NO and she would most likely be altered the upcoming week. Mind you, she had been a resident at the shelter for about a month already. We fell in love with her on the spot and CCHS was not willing to hold her for another week until she was spayed, even offered to put a deposit on her. We opted to take her home that day and would arrange to get her spayed. They did tell me that I would get a partial reimbursement on her adoption fee if we had her altered within 30 days. After checking around with 3 clinics, the earliest I was able to schedule was April because of COVID. When I called CCHS to inform them, they said the reimbursement would not be honored since over 30 days. We shrugged it off because she was going to be fixed regardless and our reimbursement would have been given back to the humane society as a donation. When Phoenix's April appt. came around, I left the clinic we chose with a copy of her medical records and was told to come back at the end of the day to pick her up. When I arrived to pick her up, the clinic staff informed me that they had a feeling that she had already been altered and after doing a small shave, they found her incision scar. I told them what the CCHS had told me and they said that should have been checked at the kitty's initial wellness check up prior to being put up for adoption. CCHS took the time to vaccinate and deworm her, it would not have been much to confirm whether or not the cat was altered. The clinic did give me some money back since the SX was not preformed; however, I did have to pay for the sedation. What bothers me the most is that I had to put Phoenix through unnecessary stress and inconvenience of time trying to schedule around my work. For future, we will not be adopting from the CCHS and will not recommend others to do so. If someone decides to use CCHS for their adoption services, please make sure you cover all your bases first.

I wasn't able to see the living conditions of the animals because you have to sign up to volunteer to spend time with them. I don't have the $120 that is required to adopt a pet either so that kept from seeing the animals as well. I understand the adoption fee goes toward shots and spaying/neutering costs but $120 still seems a bit high.

Very kind people. Love the animals. The adoption process is smooth - and the matching of Human/“Pet” characteristics is spot on. I would recommend every single person to rescue an animal from here.

Wonderful experience. They really care who the pets go to. Whoever had this dog and brought him back, they lost out on a great dog but I'm so glad they did!
