Spotted this while on the interstate during a motorcycle trip and swung around to poke around. Excellent selection of military history books and found two I didn't realize until I saw them that I needed them! Staff was pleasant and helpful. Very cool place and the prices were reasonable.

Awesome book store! A huge selection at great prices! I am an avid reader, and I was so happy to find this store! He also takes used books to sell if you are looking for a place to take your uses books.

Very cool experience. Not your normal book store. You could spend all day in here walking around just looking and find pretty much anything you're looking for.

The prices here are a little higher than usual for what I found. However, there were many children's books and paperback romance novels... I could have spent double the time I spent and still not have finished seeing everything in those two sections. There was a mystery section and a WWII section. There was a section of rather old volumes near the check out. I'll try to return but this place is not very near my house.

Don't let the cute moniker of the store fool you: the proprietor is nothing resembling grumpy! In fact: he's a very cool, friendly, attentive dude, who's very happy to accommodate the customer, make a deal, and altogether provide a pleasant experience. My one bone I pick about this place is that it's terribly disorganized. NOT MESSY, but not organized in a cohesive manner. Otherwise: a great place to visit, poke around, and find some literary treasures (he's got a LOT of antique books.)

This is definitely one of the best hole in the wall book stores we have come across. Grumpy's Books does not disappoint on the book selection! At all! Literally something for everyone and anyone. If you can't find something to take home here..you're broken go home! Lol. If we didn't have somewhere to be when we stopped we definitely would have been there for more than the 45mins we spent there. There are so many rooms, and a basement overflowing with books. They also have CDs, records, vhs tapes, art work, old magazines/news papers..just so many things. The prices on some things are a touch high...but it's worth it if it keeps Grumpy's going. There is a public restroom if you end up staying longer than expected..like we did. We ended up taking home 5 books, a picture we took off the wall, and an awesome experience..spent $16 for everything.

Fantastic!!! First time there. Looks small from the outside but about four different floors plus a balcony. Nice coffee shop as well. You could easily spend a relaxing morning or afternoon just enjoying the atmosphere and the seemingly endless supply of material. Please don't miss a chance to enjoy some time here.

The best bookstores are the ones where you have to root around a bit to find what you’re looking for. Here I found plenty of what I was looking for, and a lot I didn’t know I wanted. The owner was attentive and helpful. Absolutely worth a stop whenever you’re in the neighborhood.

Pretty big selection, though somewhat disorganized and very reflective of the surrounding community. I was looking for older books, but they were few, in poor condition, and in multivolume sets, were missing books. However, there was the odd gem hiding on the shelves. Worth a visit if you're passing through.

Lots of books... A little hard to move around but it didn't bother me. I was hoping for a little more of a bargain on the used books i got, but it's an independently owned business. Most paperback books are priced at around $6. I would go back!

Driving back home to Virginia, my wife said “I’ve always wanted to stop there!” So, I turned around and we went in to check it out. All the books and the smell of a book store, and my wife was in heaven! She found a couple Stephen Kings books that she didn’t have, and I scored some classic Rolling Stones, on vinyl! Yes, make the stop here!

While not as well sorted as other used bookstores, you can see where they are working towards an alphabetical buy author, under subject/genre etc."Grumpy" who was not very grumpy, knew his inventory, and was able to find things that we had missed.
