Harrisburg Pike Animal Hospital is an amazing vet... Have been going there for years! Doctor Pendilton is very kind and takes plenty of time to answer any questions you have. He also makes your vet visits educational and explains stuff bery well. Definitely a five star and I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

The doctor is probably a very good vet, knows how to handle animals, but has no customer service skills for humans. Did not explain anything at all about the treatment estimate he sent with an assistant to present to us. We had questions, but he had moved on to the next patient. Also, we had been told a specific test was available for our pet, which is why we went to this place to begin with, only to find out after the check up, that the test was not available. We had to find a different practice for our pet to get tested and pay for another check up. The rest of the staff were friendly and knew how to talk to humans.

I have used Harrisburg Pike Animal Hospital for almost 20 years. To this day, I would never choose a different vet. Dr. P and the staff are trusting, caring and very thoughtful. Dr. P genuinely cared about every one of our fur babies and has gone above and beyond for each of them, and we are so thankful to have him as a vet for our new puppy!!

Dr P and his staff are very thorough and take time to explain issues. Not a big business vet trying to sell you products or procedures. My cat's paw all of a sudden started bleeding a week after declawing and as soon as I called Dr p and his staff took me and my cat in and fixed up his paw and we glued it. All this was at no additional charge. They care about their customers and their pets for sure!

We moved to Lancaster and needed to find a vet for our dog and a place to board her. Our dog is a senior and suffers from anxiety (rescue dog). The staff at Harrisburg Pike are kind professionals that care for her like they would for their own pets. So grateful that we found them.

Dr. P and his staff really care for your pets by giving them the best quality care possible. They are accommodating and helpful when it comes to caring for our pets. Dr. P really understands how much our pets mean to us and takes the time to get to know his clients, both human and animal. I have been taking my pets there for 14 years. I also felt very comforted and supported by them when our senior pets passed away. I recommend HPAH to everyone!

It used to be nice and hospitable. Now, it was a whole different story. The receptionists are rarely friendly, you feel like your walking into their house instead of a house. They last time i was there they WITHOUT ASKING OR SAYING what they were doing gave my dog a rabies shot when she just had one the month before. They made me pay for it and no one apologized the vet didn't even come back in to acknowledge the issue. They went from a 4 out of five to barely a one. AND. That was just the latest issue with them.

The doctor and his staff were very good in their care and handling of my pet. She was quite ill when I took her in, and a few days later she was her usual self.I can't say enough good a bout her care and handling. Several follow up calls were also made to check on her condition.Fabulous care and treatment.

I don't really like to be negative on here but I thought it would be worth sharing my experience at this vet because I left the office crying. My husband and I recently adopted a puppy and moved to Lancaster.When I brought my puppy into Harrisburg Pike on time for my first visit ever, I walked in and was not greeted by any staff. After filling out the required forms I was walked back to a room with my puppy and waited in that room by myself with my puppy for 40 minutes. Finally, the Dr. arrived in the room and made no eye contact with me and appeared to be very rushed. He asked if I was there before and I said no, this is my first visit. He also asked if my puppy was eating well and I said no. He offered no help in improving her eating. I told him I was concerned about my puppy's anxiety and he offered no advice but rather made me feel worse by saying "yeah most puppies are excited to see me but she is scared of the world" "she also looks awfully skinny". He also apparently took a stool sample of the poop I brought in and he said it looked fine. The next day after giving my puppy her heart guard medicine, I found worms in her stool. I brought the stool in the day after and indeed, she had worms. I was very sad and felt hopeless after my visit. I will not be returning.

This Dr. P and his staff have been so absolutely wonderful since I started taking my pets here 5 years ago. I do have a very feisty cat who, I will admit, is hard to handle at the vet, but the professionalism this team emits and their care for him has been so amazing each time, I know if I can trust them with my cat, I can trust them with all of my pets. Not to mention when our poor puppy passed away a couple of years ago, they were there through the treatments up until her passing and had done everything they could to help her. Although she didn’t make it (not their fault at all) they helped us with the grieving process and have made sure that both my husband and I were ok. I always recommend HPAH!

Harrisburg Pike Animal Hospital has been my entire family's choice for vet care for over 20 years. Three generations of my family (grandma, mother, & myself) all use Dr. Pendleton for wonderful care of our dogs & cats, and his staff is always so friendly and helpful. Dr. Pendleton and staff helped to treat my sick rabbit. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. But we were surprised and delighted when they sent us flowers with condolences. The staff was professional and courteous during our visit.

There has been to many things wrong with this place. Just don't bother. Took my cat in for constipation issues. She was healthy other than that. Within 12 hours she was dead due to poor veterinary judgement and very poor veterinary assistant. The had so much saline in her from an IV that she literally looked like a water bag when they were done. They gave her an enima when all she needed was stool softener. Worst staff ever. Had problems just making an appointment with them. All they want to do is take money out of the customers pocket. So sad.

I have been taking my dogs to Dr Pendleton for about 20 years now. He has been amazing. He has referred my dogs to specialists when needed. My dogs also really like him. I have one large breed dog and three giant breed dogs. I have been to veterinarians who seem intimidated by large dogs, but not Dr P. He also has an enormous heart, as evidenced by the two special needs Frenchies that are the office dogs.

We recently lost our mastiff to congestive heart failure. Dr. Pendleton had treated her since she was a pup. After her passing, we received a wonderful handwritten letter from him expressing his sympathy. It was above and beyond, and such a gift to feel cared for in our loss. You won't find another vet who cares so much about animals and understands what they mean to us.

This place is overall friendly, and easy to get into, even with the whole Covid situation, but unfortunately the vet I saw kept trying to convince me that rabbits can vomit when in fact they can't. That's the number 1 way to tell if a vet is good with rodents. A quick Google search can tell you they can't vomit. However, they were gentle with my rabbit and gave me the meds I needed, and even gave a follow up call to check to make sure she was doing well. Just maybe do a little more research on small rodents and mammals :)

After some years of going here we will be switching vets. Dr.P is great but the staff has always made us feel unwelcomed and has made the experience frustrating. I can't feel right about spending any more money here. Sorry.
