The charges when we picked our animals up were different than what we were quoted when we made the reservation for our dog and cat.There were additional charges that we understood because our dog needed quarantine, and our cat was not doing well and needed medication from the vet. None of those additional charges were the issue. What was the issue was we made it clear our cat was diabetic when we made the reservation and we were told that it would cost five dollars per dose to give him his insulin twice daily. When we went to pick them up, we were charged $15 per dose instead of the five we were quoted which was a difference of $400. It takes less than 15 seconds to give a cat a shot of insulin in the scruff of his neck twice daily 10 hours apart.When I commented about the difference in the price with the owner, he told me there was no wiggle room In the final bill. I believe our pets were treated well and cared for but I also feel that advantage was taken Because we were on an extended vacation and they just figured we’d pay whatever. I don’t believe I would use them again.

A hidden doggie gem! I have a very energetic rescue pup. Was looking for a local place where she could get some open play and socialization. Was recommended by friends and very thankful. This is a great place, such wonderful people. Fair prices, good hours, clean and tidy. My pup knows when we’re turning the corner and gets so excited!

Thank you to the entire staff for allowing our boy to have a wonderful "vacation" while we were away. They set up a stay tailored to his needs and gave us the peace of mind we needed to feel comfortable choosing their establishment. He was happy to see us when we arrived but also looked back at a staff member who brought him out to us with a doggy smile and a spin as if to say "hey thats my mom and dad" and share with her his happiness of us being there before running into our arms full of joy. We could tell he felt comfortable there and when he came home he was his happy playful self. We played for hours and then he took a very relaxed nap afterward. It was difficult for me to be away from him for the time we were on vacation but the staff responded to my check in texts and kept me up on how he was doing. They loved him and he loved his stay. This is now the only place we will consider for his future vacations and plan to set up play dates soon.

I have been taking my Fur babies to Hamlin Kennels for the past two years! If you were to ask anyone who knows me, I am VERY Particular about where and with who I trust to leave them with. To say this Kennel was a great choice would be an understatement!! They are Wonderful!! After a complete tour and meeting several of the staff members I was absolutely positive I couldn’t go wrong and I was right. They took excellent care of my girls each and every time. They always came home smelling clean and fresh and happy! The owner is very responsive to calls and treats your fur babies as his own. As for pricing.. it’s all laid out in front of you before you make a reservation and if your still unsure it’s on the boards in the office or the owner is more than happy to discuss with you. Prices are more than fair for the services offered. Unfortunately I have recently relocated states away where the prices for boarding and grooming services are much higher. Hamlin Kennels are hands down the best choice for the area & we are truly going to miss them.

We use the day care and boarding regularly. Although expensive, they offer great service and good care for your dog. He is always extremely happy when we arrive and tired on the way home.

Great experience!! After bringing my dog here for numerous years I cannot believe these negative reviews which do not reflect my experiences. The staff is wonderful, professional and always willing to accommodate me and my pup and more importantly my dog gets excited to come here and use the facility along with the dog park. There is an information sheet with policies for new customers which you read and it’s obvious that the people with these negative things to say did not take the time out to read it pertaining to holidays, drop offs and pick up times. Don’t be discouraged from these demanding people, try them out and you will be very happy!!!

It's very sad that we now live in a society where people feel the need to bash anyone who doesn't give in to thier every demand and expects a business to veer from the policies and fees that everyone else has had no problem with. This is the very first time I've read these reviews and can't believe how outlandish some are! Your "non refundable " prepayment wasn't refunded because you canceled? That is exactly what "non refundable " means which was fully explained at the time your deposit was made and you committed to the reservation. Would you bash your hotel or your airline for not refunding you when you cancel at the last minute? The staff gets angry for having to work? What this person fails to mention is that both times her dog stayed with us she showed up after hours to pick up and demanded the staff that had already been working for 9 hours stay to accommodate her late arrival and then gave the staff a hard time about being charged an after hours fee! This did not happen once, but twice, different staff members each time. Would you show up after hours at your doctor dentist, attorney, mechanic etc... and demand a service? No! So why should the staff caring for your beloved pet be treated differently. Our kennel is staffed, caring for your pets, long before our public hours and long after. Issues with holiday appointment fees? If you needed any repair man on a holiday , would you bash him for charging an additional fee or would you be grateful that he took the time away from his family and his holiday to accommodate you? Lastly, for the person who said I personally, was rude to her on the phone because I would not veer from our "tours" policy, since when is being honest misconstrued as rude? In the 3yrs I have been with hamlin kennels, I have not once run into an issue with someone demanding videos and pictures, refusing a tour, that statement was blatantly true, not rude. To all of our customers thank you for your unwavering understanding and support! We truly do love your pets as our own and always look forward to your visits!

Thank you to you Hamlin Kennels for letting us enjoy our vacation worry free. I have 2 dogs, a male boxer and a female pit, both rescues, with the boxer being a handful (putting it mildly). I received updates (Thank You Tina) letting me know all was well, which put me at ease. I purchased the grooming package and they were spotless when I picked them up. I can tell they had a great experience for their 9 day stay. I would recommend Don and Hamlin Kennels to anyone!!!

Having shown dogs for 24 years I have seen the good and worst of caring for dogs. I must say that Hamlin Kennel is the best. My dogs come back happy and in great condition. It is the cleanest facility I have ever seen. You do not need an appointment to see the facility. We just showed up and Don and staff gave us a tour. This was our first time leaving our 3 pups at Hamlin Kennel. The facility is immaculate! The staff are pleasant, polite, professional & obvious animal lovers. Our pups were happy to see us. They were clean & well cared for. It was a wonderful experience & we have no hesitation asking Don to watch them for us again.

I just have to say that these are great people, who are friendly pleasant and professional! There is no reason why they should have to have "entitled" customers be rude and disrespectful over their policies which are clearly posted all over. Would these people talk to their vet that way? Their staff is not just a whipping post for disgruntled people that just don't get their way when they want it. These entitled people that leave negative feedback for asking to pick up their dogs on holidays or Sunday mornings when the Kennel specifically says they are closed is ridiculous. Their prices are more than fair and are not inflated for holidays, but their staff is also entitled to time not open to the public and demanding people. They ask for pre-payments for new customers to ensure the kennel they reserve will be there for them when they arrive. It is not first come first serve. We are so appreciative of the effort that Hamlin Kennels takes to care for our dog while we are gone, and want to speak up for them in this world of disrespectful demanding entitled people

I can not even begin to explain how wonderful Hamlin Kennels is. I will NEVER board my fur babies anywhere else. They are the nicest people who go above and beyond to make sure that the dogs are well taken care of. Our dog Homer loves it here, and it's easy to see why. The owner and staff are so warm and inviting (to quadrupeds and bipeds alike). Pricing is super straightforward, and very reasonable for the services as well as boarding. It's exactly what you want from a per boarding experience - good service, clean facilities, and no surprises.For reference we split our time between here and NYC. Our preference is always to board here.

I just called for the second time about boarding (now Friday). I had originally left a message on Monday and no got back to me. The manager was exceptionally rude. I explained I was coming from out of state for a wedding and requested photos of the kennel before booking. She said photos and videos are not allowed of the kennels, only tours, and no exceptions could be made. She said in the three years she’s been manager nobody had made this request and there was nothing she could do. I found this extremely disconcerting and she made no effort to explain the policy.

Dog was in their care for a week. Called on 3 different occasions to check on her. Was told she was fine, but not eating much (dropped her off with a large bag of Ian's food). Picked up after a week, was charged an extra $100 because they said she was 'unruly'. No dog food returned. No bath or nail care that was paid for in advance.So, dogs owner called and said the kennel owner had been in touch with him and is trying to resolve all issues. Kudos for stepping up

I am from the area but live out of town and this was my first experience with Hamlin Kennels. I called earlier this past week to board my dog from Saturday to Sunday (Memorial day weekend). I was told that they board by weight and I had to pre-pay as a deposit-If any other additional services were provided I would pay when I picked up my dog. So I paid the $62 thinking since it was a short amount of time I wouldn't need any add-ons (bark park, nail clipping, bath). I dropped her off on Sat. and Sat. evening around 4:54p.m. I got a call saying that tomorrow is Sunday and they are closed on Sunday so I would need to pay a $25 fee and since they are technically closed I would need to pay an extra day. I was really confused so I asked to pick her up that night. The lady told me that they were closed...ok "Since I'm paying for Monday too, can I pick her up Monday?" She said, "Yes, but since its a holiday its an additional $25" So all-in, a one night stay (9am-2pm the next day) would be more than $100 dollars. NONE of this was explained to me when I booked earlier that week. SO... basically everyone pays for a block during holidays (Fri.Sat.Sun). Pick up is at 2pm on Sunday and everyone pays $25 (b/c they're closed, but not really if everyone is picking up their dog after a weekend away, its just a way to get an extra $25). When picking our dog up, the lady and I went back and forth...-She said she couldn't release our dog ("you're withholding our property for a service we've already paid for?")-She said I signed a contract (not so-she couldn't provide a copy),-She said there is a recording of her explaining the information to me (not so-she couldn't provide a recording).We ended up paying the $25 because it was plastered on the wall like 4 times, but not the extra day fee! Most importantly we got our baby back! Huge lack of communication and highway robbery!

Originally I felt this place was well run and nice for my dog to get some socialization. Although expensive you usually get what you pay for, not so much this time. Owner charges for days not used and states it’s a holiday expense. When I called and text owner to pick dog up early my text was ignored. Upon arriving at the kennel I was still charged for days I did not use. After later looking at my bank statement I discovered they added additional fees on no one ever explained. Never again.

I highly recommend Hamlin Kennels for any of your doggie daycare or kenneling needs. Don was incredibly professional and accommodating. The facility and bark park were spacious and clean. We will definitely be back for overnights in the future as well as some day care days too!

Best kennel ever. I feel like I am leaving my babies with a family member. I have always been treated with respect and I know my babies are in very capable hands. If you are considering having your pets bathed before pickup, do it! They have some sort of magical shampoo and mine smell so good when I pick them up. Be warned tho, they will not sell you the shampoo no matter how much you beg.

Don and his entire crew go out of their way to take care of our two dogs. The GSD is difficult and not always social, they have managed to win her over. Our Lab mix is just a happy dog . Both are extremely attached to my husband and I. Leaving them is always difficult. Know they are in good hand makes it easier.Hamlin Kennels has updated there services to compete with anything you could want for your pet. You are never forced into "Packages", you pick what you want in your pets day and they make it happen. We have been using them for at least 9 years now.We generally go away for a few days around Christmas, we have friends who always offer but between weather and the Holiday it can be difficult for them to be there when they are needed. Don is always there.I have given his name to a number of people and they are as thrilled with him as we are.Go see for yourself, it is worth the trip.

Truly can's say I've ever had any issues, you totally get what you pay for. They are the only player in town, but thankfully a good service. I'm not a fan of the p/u times, but here again what can one do? I don't pay extra for services I don't need, and I don't feel pressured to do so. I feel they are very transparent, and I know my dog is well taken care of. Overall good folks, as I keep using their services. Possibly, it helps if you have a good dog. I would recommend them hands down.

I have been using Hamlin Kennels for a few years about 6 times a year with Two Labradors. They love to visit, are well cared for and very calm while visiting the Kennel. Don is all hands on and is very involved in every aspect of the daily operations. Kennel is very clean and I love the multi-dog discount.

I was not happy when I called to make a reservation. I called a month in advance, the owner was stressed and wanted me to extend my dogs stay by an additional day because he was unable to check any more dogs in that Friday morning, so he wanted me to bring them in on Thursday instead. (I would have to pay the extra day) He said he did have room for my dogs though. I hope he finds additional help he needs.

We've been taking McCloud there since we moved to the area. Don and the others know McCloud, welcome him in and say goodbye at the door when he leaves. Friendly and capable of following instructions (if necessary, they will continue prescription/s while you're away for a fee). During the early Covid days, they built a dog park that may also be accessed; fenced, sectional, shaded, terrain, tables. Wow!

Save yourself and your dogs some pain and go somewhere else! Took terrible care of my dogs & charged $100 for being "unruly". They are just out to make as much money as possible and do the least amount of work. They dont care about your dogs well being.
