I needed to board my dog with very short notice during a family emergency. The staff at Royal Pet Resort eased my anxieties about boarding my dog and gave me a tour of their facilities. The price is comparable to other businesses near State College, but the kennels are much nicer at Royal Pet Resort. Sage was happy & healthy at time of pickup.One note - there is no data service with some providers at this location. I would definitely recommend downloading the local map in your navigation system so that you can get back on the road easily when you depart.

We boarded our German Shepherd, Ellie, at Royal Pet Resort for 8 days over Thanksgiving, 2023. We couldn't be happier with the care she received. This is not Ellie's first visit and Royal Pet Resort has become our 'go-to' boarding option when we are out of town. Becky, Dietz, and the staff have taken the time to truly get to know Ellie and that has been a comfort to us when we're away. Ellie is very active and we are able to schedule an exercise program to fit her needs. Like most German Shepherds, she is also very loyal (her nickname is 'Velcro'), so she is not always comfortable in new surroundings and around new people - not to worry, Ellie comes back to us happy and healthy.

I owe my dog's life to the care and love that pets receive at Royal Pet Resort. If you had any doubts about leaving your critter with them, I hope this review can calm your soul and put you at ease. They will do everything in their power to make sure your animal is well cared for.My dog had been to daycare here and loved it--came home tired each time after a long day of playing. But what really changed the game was their overnight boarding. A few weeks ago, my dog was boarded here for a week while I was out of state. On the 2nd to last day, sometime during the night, my dog bloated. Any giant dog owner knows this is a risk with the breed and there are some possible theories as to why, it isn't fully know why it happens.I received a call that morning in which the staff stated their concerns. They knew my dog's habits and knew that he wasn't acting himself right off the bat. He was still moving but didn't have the same pep in his step and hadn't eaten when they provided him breakfast. They compared his stomach to pictures they had taken previously and saw the ever so slight physical distention that indicated it could be bloat.Becky rushed my dog out the door and was determined to get him treatment. My vet did not have time to see him until the afternoon but Becky pushed back and they agreed to try to fit him in earlier in between appointments. After asking appropriate questions, Becky knew he even if he was seen, they did not have the staff who take on an emergency surgery in time if it came to it. She called two different emergency vets and went back and forth with them until she found one that could take him immediately. She was formulating backup plans to take him to larger vet hospitals out of town if no one in town could see him.When she got to the hospital that could take him on, she was there with him until they took him back to stabilize him for emergency surgery and she checked in on him each day of his recovery. Her persistence, and the keen eyes of the staff, made all the difference. My dog is still alive today because of their watchful eyes and determination. They knew every second counts in a bloat case and they were not going to take no for an answer in getting him the treatment he needed. Their perseverance in taking appropriate action saved his life.Royal Pet Resort has my business for life!

Great place for boarding and daycare. We have taken our dog here once a week for daycare (to socialize). They care for the animals in their charge, and even call to let you know if your pet gets sick (which did happen to us). I very much trust them. It is even possible to drop pets off before hours to accomodate your work schedule. Easy billing with putting a card on file. The only thing I wish is that the location was more convinient (quite outside State College, and deer are extremely common in the area, so careful driving!)

Nice place. My dog loved the “Stay and Play” option. He could socialize with other dogs, play and get a lot of exercise. Made time fly by for him, I guess. When I picked him up, he looked happy and well-kept. Definitely recommend the place!

Becky and the staff at Royal Pet Resort have been wonderful anytime we need to board our dog. We've been using them for over 10 years, and our dog has always loved going there. Now as he transitions to being an older dog, we are so appreciative to them for their attentiveness to his needs, and how well he is treated and cared for while there. It can be stressful to leave your pet for an extended time, but you can be sure that your pet will be exceptionally well cared for at Royal Pet Resort. Thanks for everything you guys do!!!

Update: Boots didn't visit his friends at Royal Pet Resort for nearly 3 years due to COVID and having adult children who could pet sit for free. He was happy to go back, and he did fine. I was worried because he's almost 15 now, and he's slowed way down and has more fears (crows?!), but he did fine. My 5 star review from 5 years ago stands.My dog loves the people here. I could elaborate, but I think that's enough. He's been going here for 10 years. And, he is so happy when I drop him off.

Our yellow lab has been going to the pet resort since he was a puppy. He is now 7 years old and loves going to doggie day care. He loves the pool, loves his play time with his friends and especially loves the staff. It feels good knowing my puppy is in good hands. When I pull up to the pet resort, Jaxin is ready to go; running out the door wanting to play. I wouldn’t take Jaxin anywhere else. Thank you royal pet resort for taking such great care of our baby.

First time boarding here; first time we boarded this pup anywhere. He came out happy, smelled good, not freaked out, and reportedly played with the other dogs. Royal isn't cheap, but it's worth it. Already reserved his next stay.

Bruno loves to visit Royal Pet Resort. Whether he is visiting for day care or boarding, I can always count on him coming home tired. If you know him, that is quite an accomplishment. While Bruno certainly has his favorites, the whole staff is kind and caring.

Our dogs have been staying at Royal for 15+ years whenever we can't take them on trips with us. They love it (they get excited as soon as we turn onto Steele Hollow Road) and always come back in great shape. Highly recommended.

Our dog loves going to stay at the Royal Pet Resort. He knows every turn to get there and can barely contain his excitement when we arrive. The awesome staff always takes great care of him and it makes my husband and I happy to know he is loved and looked after at a wonderful facility. We have been using them for almost 20 years. Our dog Porter loves it there and is loved by the staff. They ALWAYS go the extra mile to accommodate us and him. He was challenging. as a puppy and they were great with him. I would trust them to care for any pet. Becky has always addressed any issues immediately. I had heard good things about the Royal Pet Resort from several people who had experience with boarding their pets there. So when I was coming to the State College area from Philadelphia to visit family over the Thanksgiving vacation, I made arrangements for my 11 month old mini golden doodle, Gracie, to stay at the Royal Pet Resort for four days. I signed her up for the Stay and Play program.Gracie is an especially friendly, extremely active, dog. With the Stay and Play program, Gracie had LOTS of daily canine socialization and OODLES of exercise. Gracie LOVED it! She spent her days romping with other dogs and, according to the handlers, she quickly found a new canine buddy. When Gracie got home following her stay, I was so pleased to see she was an incredibly pooped, but very contented pup.I feel confident that Gracie was in excellent hands during her stay. The cost was highly reasonable for the quality of care and attention she received. She's already booked for the ROYAL experience at Christmastime!

Our six year experience with two dogs at the Royal Pet Resort can only be described as excellent. The owner lives on site, and has decades of knowledge regarding pets of all kind. Her staff have similar professional experience, as they attend seminars and do course work, and various training together. Our dog LOVES the Royal Pet Resort! We own a collie and they groom him for us once a month. Depending on their schedule (and mine - they are flexible), he is sometimes there for half a day, sometimes for a full day. A callout to Dietz, his groomer, who is great! I tell our dog he is going to see Dietz and he gets excited! I highly recommend!

It really is like a resort or vacation home for him - they say he prances around the place like he owns it. Because I travel for work I've boarded him on multiple occasions for 2-3 weeks, and I can always rest assured that he's in the best of hands.

Royal pet Resort was absolutely amazing. My dog is a very scared and nervous dog who struggles with separation anxiety. They were so kind and understanding to him. They tried him out with many different dogs to play with on a 1 on 1 to make him feel comfortable and get him exercise. They are truly amazing and I highly recommend them!

I've had 3 dogs, all of different breeds and temperament. The staff at the Royal Pet Resort always know exactly how to handle them, and I pick up happy, tired, and healthy dogs. My two older cats have been groomed at Royal Pet Resort for several years. One of my cats, Diamond, is not very fond of being groomed and yet every time they do a great job with him! I just recently had my dog, Roxie, stay for a couple of days. She does not “play” very well with others because she enjoys hurting them instead! Royal Pet Resort still took time to include her in a play time. I am grateful for them for doing this! She loved her stay!

I’ve been boarding my two dogs at The Royal Pet Resort for several years. They always seem happy when I drop them off and pick them up. One of my dogs is diabetic and has special medication needs. The staff there is always willing to do what needs to be done to keep him as healthy as possible. I feel guilty whenever I leave my pets to go away, but I’m always thankful to know they will be taken care of while I’m away.
