On Thursday, 03/14, at 3:30, this pup was found, wandering on Menoher Blvd, by neighbors, walking their yellow Lab, as well as a Mama, with 2 toddlers in a stroller. Because my 3 Labs "know" every dog in the neighborhood, I was asked if I recognized this pup. I did not but, since I have a fenced-in yard, I offered to "entertain" him until Debra Noble, my dear friend, and I tried to find the owner. On their website, as well as their Facebook page, the hours of operation, on Thursdays, at the Humane Society of Cambria County end at 7 PM. As early as 4 PM, the time at which Debra and I started to call, and after countless attempts to contact the Humane Society of Cambria County, we repeatedly received the recorded message that the facility was closed for the day, OR heard a series of prompts that were also unsuccessful. Rather than waste any more time, I put the pup into my car and drove him to the CC Humane Society. An "orienting" employee was doing a "meet and greet" with a family outside, so I approached her. She, in turn, went into the facility and returned with another staff member, who appeared to b "in charge". Together, they came to my car, checked the pup and found no chip. The woman "in charge" took the pup's picture and then made a phone call. I HEARD her, on the phone, stating, "I could put him IN the garage." The 3 of us, as well as the "meet&greets", (by then, prepping to take the dog with which they were visiting) went inside. After the chip-checking, photo taking and phone calling, the employee "in charge" proceeded to tell me, firmly, that she couldn't take the dog. . .she had no available space. I informed her that I HEARD her on the phone, referencing the garage; her reply THEN? "NO, THAT'S where we have the cats from the "hoarding situation". I then referred to the dog that was being adopted, AS WE SPOKE. . .THUS, 🤔, an EMPTY kennel; her reply, "NO, THAT isn't the section that a new dog would go into." Despite me explaining repeatedly that I had nowhere to take the dog, she continued to dismiss me.Her final comment, after asking WHAT she suggested that I do with this pup. . .in her words, that I won't forget. . ."take him back to where he was found and LET HIM GO."I took the pup to my car and as I pondered, in tears, what next to do, that employee walked onto the front stoop, and repeatedly glanced at me, while she took a "vaping break".The 1st photo is one that I took❣️The 2nd photo is the one that the Humane Society of Cambria County took upon my arrival.WOW! The employee omitted telling the public that she turned me away, as well as WHAT her advice was for what to do with him.HOW inhumane was the Humane Society of Cambria County!!Endless gratitude to God, for His perfect timing! As dusk approached, Debra received a phone call. The owner had been found! For photos, please refer to my Facebook page.

I adopted my dog from here and have had him for 6 years now. Went to look another dog today and was greeted at the door only to be told that because they are understaffed and have too many dogs, we were not able to view dogs without an approved application and appointment first. It may help if this was on the website. As we went to leave, the employee who greeted us, was at the side door on her phone smoking. Very disappointing.

Ive always loved going to humane society in richland but price has gone up soo much to adopt and they expect soo much just to adopt a dog they had brought in and dropped off not wanted..i cant afford to adopt a dog from them anymore so i just settle for my small family i do have here.. hard to get anyone to come to oakhurst to pick up all the strays in area its the only place so i guess we r not allowed helping them per said by housing themselves but we have to watch them freeze and starve to death outside ive seen some terrible things because of these rules!! It makes me sad.. please send help to the projects ppl keep throwing their poor cats out im not allowed saving them anymore im sorry i got into trouble for an animal shelter and food...its sad it wasnt taking much room at all now they are scattered with nowhere to sleep or cuddle up n b warm it saddens and sickens me noone cares for the poor strays with no choice or ppl who love them!! Step it up plz humane society!!

The animals, especially some of the cats look very sickly and underfed. I also provided a huge donation of cat and dog food along with lots of the supplies on the wish list. Not that I want recognition, but I was promised the picture they took of me with the donations would be posted on their Facebook page. A month later and nothing. I even emailed them and asked for the photo just so I could have it for myself and look back on the good deed I did. I did this project for one of my college classes and I let them know, even if they dont post it, at least send me the photo to provide proof of the donations to my professor. Nothing. I feel anyone who provides any type of donation to any humane society should be recognized for their good deeds and their huge hearts. I have attached the donations that I dropped off. Choose Blair County or Indiana County. They value their volunteers and appreciate every donation, big or small.

After having to wait forever for approval was approved and looked at cat that I was interested in. They then told me I had to schedule a meet and greet. So I Asked ahead of time if anyone else was currently interested in cat that I was interested in. Was told no. Day of meet and greet Was running behind (because of work) ,so I called. They then told me cat was adopted earlier in week! Really?? No notification or anything when I was approved and scheduled for meet and greet! Will never try to adopt from this place again!

This is where my two cats came from. They are happy and healthy. We got married a short time ago and in lieu of gifts requested that people bring us pet food. We donated about 150 lb to the Humane Society

This place is horrible. All the cats look sickly and sad. I really think the cats are abused, though, because it is not normal what I saw there. Just take a look at the pictures posted by "happy" customers. I will include pics of the two kittens which I paid less for than I would at this shelter, so you can see what a happy cat looks like. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I am a vegan and an animal lover and this place is vetting people when they remove the reproductive organs for human benefit. There are plenty of normal people who need help finding homes for pets. Just look on craigslist or facebook. Just make sure to take any new animals to the vet ASAP.
