A lovely park, even off season. A few cute trails (Lost Turkey trail, and Chappells Field trails are recommended), a campground, a regional pool, picnic areas, and much nature. Could use a bit more parking close to the trails, but overall a great place to hike, camp, walk or run.

Blue Knob lacks boating and is a disjointed park. It is well maintained but more vistas need to be opened. The roads leading to the park have wonderful views but too much growth hides them at the park.I found the best view at the top of the ski lifts at Blue Knob Resort. In the distance, several gaps in the mountains make them look like they weave in and out among each other. I did not include a picture, as the fires in our western states made the air too milky to get a good picture. Also, the swimming pool is a great distance from the camping. (and not open this summer 2021).So what's good. About 50 tent and trailer sites. However, some are very much in the sun. There are three cabins and a house to rent. There is also a remote group camping area with its own pool (currently not filled). There's 23 miles of hiking on 9 trails. Mountain bike on 19 miles of trails, house ride on 7 miles of trails, and 7 picnic pavilions including the ones right off route 869 to the west of the main park.In winter enjoy cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and of course the 1050 foot downhill skiing at Blue Knob Lodge. For events at this park visit: events dcnr paFor more information: pa parks and forests(diamond)

Enjoyed the park. Super quiet. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. I would suggest a bench of some sort in shower area. No place to put clothes etc. We had site 6 tent. Really sloped. Had rain every day we were there. Not the best site. Many other ones were much better. We made due. Still had a good time.Visited nearby state parks to get stamps for the passport book. Also did the covered bridge tour. Gravity hill is on the map to the covered bridges. Gravity hill was a BIG disappointment!!!! Don't waste your expensive gas going there.

We camped at Blue Knob State Park in June 2020. Very nice, quiet, and clean. Wooded with good space and privacy between most spots. Sites on the exterior of the loop are wooded... the interior ones are exposed and not private. A few hiking trails right from the campground. NO CELL SERVICE for many miles. We enjoyed our time and relaxed, but felt like there wasn’t a whole lot to do in the area and did everything in 2 days. We were a bit unprepared and hoped to drive to a restaurant to avoid cooking one night... nearest place was a pizza place that was about an hour away. Enjoyed our time, but wouldn’t spend more than 2 nights.

Our visit here was on a cold, crisp, and clear day. Clear days are a great time to go to see the mountain peaks from the overlook. It was gorgeous and windy and cold and I wouldn't change a thing about our visit as the cold temps probably kept most people away. This park epitomizes Pennsylvania landscapes. We got a great view of Blue Knob, PA's second highest peak.

Nice summer camping getaway in the gorgeous Appalachian mountains. The campground has some electric sites and hiking and biking trails.

The campground is fairly small and rustic. Many sites have electricity, but no water (someone in another review said they couldn't locate water, but it's right by the dump site area). The camping sites are mostly level and I think the outer loop sites are superior. The electric box on site 13 is on the wrong side, but some of the regulars say people often just pull into that site rather than backing in.The bathhouse seemed very clean and was pretty busy in the evening and morning hours. This place is definitely off the beaten path. (The road in is very narrow and winds around and my phone GPS kept dropping the signal.) The pool is very nice and the hiking is quite good - the trails range from easy to very difficult. The nearest grocery store is at least half an hour away, so it's best to arrive well provisioned. There's very little cell service - I occasionally could get half a bar of Verizon and squeeze a text out.Overall, I think the park is more of a winter playground, but I enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend, and the other campers were all very nice.

Pretty good camping, excellent clean facilities I mean these guys even have hot water showers. My only complaint is some of the campsites are very out in the open and smashed between like 3 or 4 others and then half of them are like practically in the woods. I would've preferred the latter but got the former. Chill rangers, beautiful landscape, and overall a great place to camp.

Not a bad state park but certainly not great. The bathrooms were very clean and nice compared to the countless other state parks we have been to through Michigan to Florida. The marking/signage in this park is awful, they have one sewage dump receptacle and water hose which is half way in the camping area. The potable water is not labeled and has no hose on it just a fresh water pipe from the ground just before the sewage dump. Most of the sites are small on the outside loop which is all I would consider, since all the inside sites are just in a open field with no shade. Be careful when looking at site pictures if you make reservations they are very good at taking deceiving angle pics(I spend a lot of time trying to find a perfect private site and ours listed that it would fit a 30' camper with slideout, it did indeed barely, my slide was almost touching the power box). There is no camp store of any size, no DNR station at entrance to the camping area either, that would be located at one of the entrances to the park and off a side road about a mile away from the entrance to the camping area. Firewood has to purchased from locals and I would visit the second home that's on the left who tarps the wood and is priced better than the first house who leaves small divided piles out uncovered and only about 6 sticks per pile for 5 bucks. They do have trails but really no detailed description of anything interesting like rock formations small creeks with rapids or anything. It was quiet and relaxing we had the camp ground pretty much to ourselves most of the time. The pool was very nice and really the only thing the kids enjoyed a 8yo and 2yo. Overall a OK park but wish we had camped further south like we do usually in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginias or North Carolina where the parks have great trails and overlooks/viewing areas of the mountains(this park has a lot of potential but I guess Pennsylvania doesn't care for its camping tourism).

Great trails for hiking and mountain biking! The park is clean with beautiful views. I have never camped here since it's so close but the camp ground is very nice. The public pool gets used often in the middle of summer.

Great clean and well kept state Campground. Bathrooms are a little dated but clean. This is one of our favorite weekend getaways that allow dogs and has trials. Already booked our favorite sites for next year!

First time visit. Pleasantly surprised. Blue Knob is the second highest peak in Pennsylvania, slightly lower than Mount Davis. Lost of hiking trails.

It was so beautiful with many trails and lots of green lush grass. The spaces are so big, you have lots of room between campers or RVs. It’s on top of a mountain so no cell service for the most part and we didn’t have a water hook up so we filled up before parking our camper. It was so quite at night that our friend used a white noise maker to sleep. We slept like a baby! We really enjoyed our time there. Stayed Friday-Monday Memorial Day weekend. So it was very much full. They also had lots of activities they let us know about. Great place and recommend.

Great State Park!! I have been to the majority of state parks in Pennsylvania and this has just made it into the top 10. Beautiful views and a nice campground. The pool is also a plus.

Very nice park and an overall nice stay. Beautiful scenery. Campers seem to respect the 9PM quiet time. Locals were helpful in telling me of some alternate local routes. Bathroom and shower facilities were clean and easily accessed. My reason for 4 stars is the reservation process which is a third party; it wasn't clear on the amenities. I reserved a pull through site, which I got, but the layout was confusing, I couldn't tell where the pull-in was located. This is true for sites 49 and 50 (hint they are parallel to the road). The only other issue was that as a state park, usually if there is electric there is water. The sites are electric only. The dump station is easily accessed and maintained. Enjoy your stay.

Beautifully situated in the mountains of Central PA, this park has hiking, hunting, and skiing in season. Go to the summit of Blue Knob and look down into the valleys for some amazing views.

I really enjoyed this park. Very quite and everyone there was very friendly. We stayed at site #003. Very level. Great for tent or RV/TT. Lots of shade and privacy. 2 showers, 3 sinks and toilets in ladies room. But shower when you notice no one is in there! You could be in a line waiting.

Great place for trail running and the campground is pretty nice with shaded sites. Nice facilities and the views are outstanding! If I was a skier, I’d come in the winter too!

Great park, however chiggers are pretty bad in June( and probably all Summer) , make sure you wear long pants/shirt, bug spray helps too! Probably worse this month as tall grass has not been “stepped on” much

Beautiful and well maintained park. Campsite is nice. Pool near the main entrance is open most days and extremely well maintained, max depth is a little under 6ft. Bathrooms available at the pool, and up at the campsite. Definitely not near any towns or stores though; it's nice and quiet.

This review is for the park, the Family campground and things to do! Having been on the road camping for about 3 weeks now, let me just say, "What a relief!" The Family campground is quiet and well kept! We chose site 29 which has woods on 2 sides, is flat and has gravel so no mud!:) The surrounding area is full of beautiful rolling hills with small little towns speckled in the valleys. As we are not afraid to get out and explore, there is lots to see and do! We are heading to the Hershey factory tomorrow and biking the abandoned turnpike later this week. We have also hit some hiking trails that just make you happy to be in the woods and proud when you make it to the top of the hill! There is a theme park 12 miles away, Halloween town and railroad museums! Or, you can just relax and enjoy the park. My only complaint is that I wish there were more than 2 showers in the bathhouse. Other than that, A+!

We tent camped, it's mostly rv's but the sites are mostly level. The restrooms were very clean, spacious and well lit. Asphalt roads were smooth, lots of bike riders. Trails nearby, it's a wonderful state park camp grounds.

As the pandemic has cancelled all other activities, we go for hikes and picnics every week. Without any doubt, the cleanest place that we have visited this summer was Blue Knob State Park. The restrooms were shining, the pavilions were quiet and clean and the barbecues were placed very well close to the pavilions. A lot of parking lots are there for the convenience. The only problem is the lack of cellphone antenna.
