One year ago, I had a disagreement with Roman; however, I tried to make him understand how I felt. This year, I asked a neighbor to place an order of Head Cheese from Roman and pay from his Ebay account. We received the package and we enjoyed so much the deli delicacy. It was so delicious, just like European style. Thank you for your service. I highly recommend it.Pauline

Nice Little place to grab some seafood and meats. They carry wild game meats and seafood. They also have a little section of international types of foods that you can't find at your local grocery store. They offer perogies in many different flavors. If you're hungry, they offer foods you can order either to go or sit and eat inside. They do not have a restroom! Items and the food they are a bit expensive but then, they carry wild game and seafood. I found the place a bit cramped. If they were busy, it would be hard to maneuver a stroller or wheelchair in there.

Returing customer! We had such a good experience with the seasoned steaks on our first visit, we went back for veal chops, and more seasoned steaks! ASK Roman to Season the meats! Delicious! While we were waiting, we sat down and had some homemade bratwurst at a small bistro table for two. We didn't realize you could get hot food and eat there. Bratwurst was excellent! *Authentic German recipe* Roman was preparing a pig roast for another customer which looked and smelled FANTASTIC!Drum up some conversation with the owner, you will not regret it!We will definitely be back to try some more prepared food as well as the meats!

Excellent Seasoned steaks! New to the area and stopped into Roman's. Quite the selection of traditional and exotic meats and seafood. We ordered several ribeye steaks and Roman asked if we would like them seasoned. He did and they were FANTASTIC! All we did was broil them when we got home and they were some of the best steaks I have had in my life.

Huge selection of quality meats. Sells the best hams hands down for the holidays. If you're looking for the perfect meats to throw on your BBQ grill for the summer, you'll find what you're looking for here.

Kielbasa and honey are good. The other food be careful, check expiration date. We bought mushrooms in a jar and when we got home I noticed that expiration date was 10/2021. Also we bought fresh oysters $22 for a dozen. When we got home and opened them, they all smell really bad. They went to a garbage together with a jar of mushrooms. Just check carefully what you are buying in that store.

Wide selection. Friendly service. Watch the expiration dates but many of the exotic meats do not have an expiration date. Kielbasa was decent, but the frozen wild boar and venison were both very gristly and unedible. We purchased a variety of other meats in there as we were excited about the variety but the quality is not there. Won't be back.

Selection is absolutely huge, quality of food and meats is great. Can tell the homemade meats are authentic, old world recipes. Would have been 5 stars if prices would have been a little more reasonable. Understandable that you'll pay more for imported foods, real kielbasa's, wursts, etc. but prices were still pretty steep. (Chalk it up to the pandemic or inflation maybe?) Owner is a nice gentleman that obviously takes pride in the business.

My son, auntie and I went inside assuming we will be entering a steak/seafood restaurant to be very pleasantly shocked and amazed of what this place has to offer.Being a great cook myself, I appreciate tasty and fresh food, and it sure was. We had the best & Freshest Fish & Chips at Roman’s. Had a beautiful conversation with the owner who is very nice and genuine. We will be back again and again on every visit from Virginia. A lot to be discovered and tasted.

Really poor quality control. You call and ask for something specific, they tell you they have fresh stock but it's a lie. They'll literally unfreeze stuff as your on the way in. Expired jarred goods on shelves, owner will tell you it's fine when you point it out 😆. DO NOT COME HERE. If you happen to be a local, you know this isn't his only shady business practice. He abuses the community and is an absolute menace.

When visiting Lake Ariel, Pa we always look forward to lunch at Roman's Famous Meats. The owner will make any kind of sandwich you want to eat in or take out. The pulled pork with warm barbecue sauce is my favorite! In the summer his father cooks outside in front of the store under a big white canopy. Fun place to shop!

This place is wonderful! Great people and a wide variety of Polish food - GO and try ALL the different types of pierogis. Find the blueberry pierogi you won’t regret it! They even have my favorite spicy brown mustard - Kosciusko. Go there for some unique items! Highly recommend.

Ordered a corned beef on rye. What a great surprise. Apparently both it and their pastrami are made w/o preservatives. As a result the meat is more brown the red color you usually see because of the lack of preservatives. Super tender and not so salty as other processed meats. The best corned beef on rye I have ever had and I have been to many great Jewish delis. Also w/o the preservatives you don't get that tired out feeling you usually get from this type of meat a few hours later. Try it! It's worth the trip not to mention an amazing selection of meat, fishes, and more exotic stuff. (Alligator anyone?)

I was staying in honesdale and had looked online at the various businesses. I was exited to discover Roman's especially the diversity of smoked fish they had. I was a bit surprised that everything was frozen. The woman behind the counter seemed a bit odd when I was asking about it. But despite my reservations I bought a smoked Mackerel from Canada. Anyway, I ate some of it with bagels from Camp Umppy's down the street (great bagels and really nice people there!). I woke up with cramps and diarrhea and was sick all night long. The symptoms were consistent with histamine fish poisoning indicating that the fish hadn't been properly stored. This seriously is dangerous. I was considering going back there and gently pointing it out to them without any accusations or threats but just so maybe they'd toss out their stock and take better care in the future but I read some of the bad reviews on here and thought perhaps that wouldn't do any good and there could really be a bad situation. I was thinking I was going to pick up a ring of kielbasa on my way out of town but I think I'll hit Oprisko in Carbondale instead

I called and asked did they have live blue crabs here at Romans famous meats and seafood. The young lady told me yes they are $20 a dozen. Once I drove 1 hour to get here the young lady said the blue crabs are washed and frozen. I was very upset because I drove so far, so I spoke with the owner instead of apologizing for lying to me he added to the lie and said the young woman told me 5 times they didn’t have any. Then I asked him the question why would I take the time to call and find out they are $20 a dozen and come if they didn’t have them. I looked at the young woman and asked her didn’t I call you about 2 dozen of crabs? She said yes. Which means the owner is a lier and he’s racist don’t spend your money with these people. He will lie in your face.

I was here for Thanksgiving, on a long weekend from New York City. I bought an Organic turkey and it was absolutely delicious. The next day my family and I came back for beautifully cut prime steaks. We had a feast for the second night in a row. The steaks were tender, delicious, and melt-in-your-mouth. I wish we had a place like this near us in Williamsburg. Not only was the food great but we met the owner (Roman) and his Father. They were so sincere and really knew what they were doing. I love this place. An easy 5 Stars.

I think he has good cured meats however I had 2 bad experiences with smoked fish. The first time was smoked herring. When I got home I opened the vacuum sealed package and the smell was putrid. Spoiled fish. I decided to try again this time smoked mackerel. He froze it and defrosted it and put it in the display case. You can't freeze hot smoked fish because once defrosted it turns to mush. I threw 20.00 worth of mackerel in the garbage

I can see from all of the negative reviews that most people have very little experience interacting with people who originate from Eastern Europe or Europeans in general. The attentive service and the good-looking authentic owner is what makes this place special! He most definitely has a great sense of humor. I enjoyed every moment of my visit!

Got a selection of meats and fish. Pork ribs smelt so bad once I got home I couldn’t serve to my family. I called the store and the owner said wash and season them and it would be 100% fine. I didn’t want to risk it so I tossed the ribs. The beef patties , haddock, and short ribs all smelt as they should.

I drove an hour to get there and I bought fresh kielbasa and when I got home I cut a piece thawed it was about to cook it when I noticed a weird smell. I called the store and the girl told me to bring it back I did and when I got there the man was very rude he said " you cut it I can't do anything with it now " then he said call the inspector. He was very nasty he also said he was not going to give me my money back or another kielbasa. We ended by him telling me to cook it and I would see it was good and I told him if I got sick he would pay my doctor bill.I cooked it P.S. it went in the garbage!! I also noticed the expired products on the shelf especially the hot mustards .I will not be going there again!I am not giving him any stars ! Not the way to treat a customer .

Huge selection of products, however, everything is overpriced, some foods were expired, they never give you a receipt with prices on it and when I asked for it, the woman behind the counter wrote the prices on the back of credit card receipt. I bought Swedish Rye crispbread and upon arriving home noticed, that the expiration date was 27 February 2022, I called the store and instead of apologizing, was told “Oh, don’t worry, it’s good for another 20 years” and when I said “it’s still expired”, the man told me “bring it back then “ and hung up the phone.

Meats delicious, but lack of pricing on the meats. Unique variety of items. Very dissapointed with cheese babka we purchased yesterday. I refrigerated the bread as stated on the package, but when I opened the bag the bread was covered with mold. I also tried to check the date and the bread tie had been changed to a regular tie with no date. Not very happy, especially after paying $8 for the bread. Be careful with bread products!!

I dealt with this guy on Ebay about that the cheese he sent me was flat and hot. Not in a box with a cold pack. It also had a strange liquid in the package. He insisted it was fine and argued about it for nearly an hour, refusing to take it back, nor to give me a refund. He was rude and unprofessional.

Bought bushel of clams last year put in fridge opened door couple hours later and it smelled really bad and by that time he was closed so I put them in freezer till next day so they wouldn't stink so bad so next day I took them back and told him they were bad but I put them in the freezer so they didn't smell as much and he told me they were fine and I said no they are not fine left and won't go there again. Poor business man

They have various types of smoked kielbasa and meats. All the kielbasa's and meats are the best I've had anywhere. The pickles, mustards, meats, and seafood is like a major city. Not what you expect in Honesdale. You just don't get a thousand items in little small towns around this region. I will frequent many times in the future to make sure such a gem stays around. Finding this place is like finding treasure. You simply can't get any better on smoked meats.

The ribs looked tasty but we're far too salty to eat. The coleslaw had little flavor. Sorry, I had wanted to try the ribs for a very long time, but I couldn't handle the salt. Very disappointed.
