First time having breakfast at the Mercantile. We've been going up to Hillsgrove for years and I don't know why we waited so long to eat here. Absolutely delicious. Had the sausage gravy and biscuits, best I've ever had and it was a huge portion. Can't wait to go back.

Stopped in for breakfast, a bit of shopping and found a post office inside too! The staff eas friendly and helpful! Excellent place for a meal!

Great place. Did not spend enough time there to provide much detail but, I did find an ancient artifact in the parking area. Can anyone tell me what it is used for? Says phone but there were no USB ports and very iffy signal strength. And what about the strange little club teathered to the change box? Cord was too short for it to be a very effective weapon... curiouser and curiouser.

It was outstanding. I never expected such a good time from a gas station. There was a band playing music like from the soggy bottom boys. There was food and souvenirs, sandwiches too. I was shocked. Very very nice. The next time I'm up from Florida I will certainly come back and see what you have next. I even got a much needed hug. She made me feel so comfortable. Why isn't every establishment like this. This made my whole day. Thank you!!!

What a gem! A true mercantile with a little bit of everything, including a Post Office. I had the lumberjack breakfast sandwich and loved it! It was tasty and filling. But, as the menu warns you, be prepared to wait for your food.

Nice little general store with a little bit of everything. We got a few breakfast sandwiches to go and they were very good. If I am ever in the area again I will make sure to stop back for breakfast.

This is an amazing place to eat, listen to live music on Saturday’s and the Owner Cindy is an amazing woman!Food is all Homemade and is a 10 Star rating!! The environment is full of positive energy!If you are in the Hillsgrove Area or passing through, stop by for a fantastic meal, snack or grocery needs! Along with local individuals artwork/craft!

Having a camp in Hillsgrove always meant a stop into the general store. Since the transfer of ownership and "conversion" into the Mercantile, I have been incredibly impressed with the offerings they've brought to the town.We have tried multiple breakfast options and it always includes an overflowing plate that easily feeds 2 (or to take home for a snack later in the day). If sitting down for breakfast isn't on your list, then a to-go cup of coffee and snack from the shelves is worth the stop.They also sell local artists products. One of my favorite mugs was from here and includes a heart over Sullivan County. But the variety of other crafts, paintings, etc are available as well.AND... they still offer a little variety of penny candy, which made my kids smile (and me, because it was a blast from the past to still be able to have it there).

I was s passing through this Sunday at 4pm and stopped to see if the kitchen was open it was not but they made it happen made me a great sandwich to go . Other people came in the store and the owner walked them around and explain the history of location and tour of building. They are focus 100 on customer satisfaction and quality of food. They are a true jem in the hills keep it going great job

Stopped in today and enjoyed a midday breakfast/lunch with my family. Great atmosphere! Loved the old fashioned feel and how personable they were to my little boy. He had pancakes with a chocolate chip smiley face. Mmm. I also had a meal from the breakfast menu. Homefries, toast, eggs and bacon. Gigi had creamed chipped beef served on toast with 2 eggs. Everything was hearty and reasonably priced. Oh yeah, and delicious!

Loved this place! The people were super friendly. We wanted to order food and they suggested the cheesesteak. It was excellent! Our daughter loved her ham sub too. The cold cuts for the sub were sliced to order.
