This little ice cream shop has been here since I can remember and has amazing ice cream. Even on a cold and rainy day, they have steady traffic, and there's a reason for that. The black raspberry ice cream and mint chocolate chip ice cream are personal favorites. If you're ever in the area, I recommend stopping in.

There was an animal hair in my ice cream I already ate more then half of it before noticing a black dog or cat hair sticking out I am disgusted I would not recommend this place

This is a community staple. Where homemade ice cream is made and served in cone, milkshake, bowl, or pint/gallon. Small location and a cash only business. Small variety of flavors but each with its own unique awesome flavor.

I love everything about this ice cream shop. It brings you back in time. The staff is always quick, kind and courteous. The flavors never let me down. I've been going here a few times a year for almost 40 years! They also have a variety of corner store type items on hand, with an old corner store type of vibe. As long as Penn Gold is standing, I'll be standing Iine.

Nostalgic blast to the past! Often called the Ice Cream Factory. I've been bringing youngsters here to enjoy the ice cream cones for over 30 yrs. Nice selection of ice cream flavors. Glass bottles of cream soda & cherry pop still available. Candy reminiscent of 60s & 70s can be found here. Old fashioned family vibe.

Hughes Ice Cream is a must stop if you are anywhere in the area. My whole family has been coming here for 40+ years, and they never disappoint. The Teaberry, White House, Cinnamon and Butter Brickle are favorites. The people here are very kind and friendly and you get a very nice portion for your money. Highly recommended! 👍

My family and I loved visiting this historical, family owned business. Their ice cream is phenomenal and the owners are as sweet as the treats. I won't skip them the next time I'm in slippery rock.. or the time after.. or any time after that.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars were not enough, so I gave them 5 more . 100 year old General Store on RT 8 is full of little goodies and the absolute BEST Ice Cream . So Worth the drive from any where ! You have to try the Teaberry , Greatest flavor ever !

Been coming here since I was a little girl. This is the ONLY ice cream that I can eat because I'm lactose intolerant and it doesn't upset my sensitive tummy. Look forward to keeping this family tradition alive with my son. They even have baby cones, for his small hands.

Very disappointed. I got a scoop of caramel cashew and a scoop of butter pecan. There were 2 tiny pieces of nut in the whole dish, not much flavor, definitely not buttery. I am not sure what the caramel cashew tasted like. Chocolate? Mocha? I honestly don't know.

PennGold is a required stop for my family. The place has an old time feeling. With It's hundred year old pine floors and wooden screen door it's a throwback to simple times. The good 'ole days, when you could pull to the side of the road and buy real homemade icecream with cash. By the way, they do not accept credit cards. Which is also nice.

Grabbed a qt of their tea berry and a scoop of rum raisin for the road. Ice cream was excellent and at $5 for everything it's almost worth the 70 mi drive!
