We bought our dog Izzy back in August of 2016 she has been an amazing dog full of love. We would definitely buy again from Village Pet Shop. We love her so much.

We are absolutely grateful we found our sweet Annie at the Village Pet Shoppe! Annie is a happy healthy English Cream Golden Retriever pup and has the sweetest temperament! Renee and her team were very attentive to any questions I had. I was interested in knowing who the breeder was and Renee openly shared the breeders name with me. I was able to speak with the breeder about our sweet Annie’s parents which helped us feel at ease with purchasing our sweet Annie. Renee was forthcoming with any info I was interested in acquiring and she and her team were very prompt to respond! Thank you so much!!

Staff is always extremely helpful, answers any questions I have immediately, and always have a smile on their face. Such a difference between Village Pet Shoppe and the big retail stores. Highly recommend!!!

I’m a 30 year customer but not going back to this store. I tried to get a kitten three weeks before she was available for sale. They never said I could pay ahead to hold the sale. They called me and said the kitten was ready and I went right away and when I got there, they had already sold the kitten I wanted knowing I was coming in to get her. This really disappointed me that I couldn’t get the kitten I had been hoping for for three weeks and that the employee new how much I really wanted the kitten. I offered to pay in advance but she would not let me. Because of their actions, I am now purchasing all my lizards food elsewhere. I don’t believe the previous owner would have done this to me. I wouldn’t have given any stars but I had to give one so I could share my experience with others.

We got both of doggos here. Our GSD is 5 and our Siberian Husky is 1. The two negative things I have to say are that our GSD was really dirty when we visited/bought her. She was covered in pee. When we bought our husky here it was better, and she was clean. The other thing is we suspect our GSD was from a puppy mill. We got no papers for her, but with our husky we got papers and looked up where she was born beforehand. Both dogs are very healthy and we love them. ♡

I love this place and they have always gone above and beyond to make sure everything I've purchased was the correct fit for my pets and family. There is no other place I'd go to get everything needed for my little zoo.

While I do not agree with selling overpriced puppies and kittens, this place has come a long way, especially since after 2020 lockdown when everyone decided to start buying exotic pets. I went here once because of the cricket shortage (they only catered to dog/cat at the time). I recently went in to look for items for my chinchillas and was surprised that they now cater to most pets including reptiles. They carry live food and have a great selection. I would give 5 stars, but I do not agree with the overpriced puppies and kittens (most puppies in pet stores like this are not a purebred dog breed and are priced so high, most kittens I've seen pet stores are advertised as a "purebred" but are actually just DSH/DMH/DSH - these are terms for plain old cats) so they get a 3. I do recommend them for reptile food and supplies, especially because they don't seem too busy and carry items that are usually sold out at the other pet stores.

I love the village pet shop! I make it a point when I’m in the area to swing in. They have a great selection of healthy treats made in the USA and a dog treat for almost every occasion imaginable. They also have the best pet odor candles that are worth the money. When I’m there I can’t help but look at the critters as well. They are always clean and seem very happy and content.

I have been working here for the past year and have come into this store multiple times throughout my childhood. I can honestly say Village Pet Shoppe is the best job I could ever have. I love my work, and not many people (that I meet) are able to say that. I love being able to talk with the kind customers that come in. Most of our customers are very friendly and I enjoy being able to discuss with them the topics of puppies, bunnies, cats, animal care, and so much more.I have always been passionate about animals of all kinds, and being in an environment where the owner, co-workers, and customers are all similar in that aspect is great! I enjoy learning new things about all animals, and this job has only grown my knowledge exponentially. If I am being honest, this store has become a second home to me, in a sense, and this has greatly been because of the new owner and my boss, Renee Ghallagher.I know most of the time reviews are meant to come from customers, detailing their shopping experience. But I just wanted to jump in here from an employee perspective and just say how much I love this place and the joy that omits from this business.

New owner is fantastic! Place looks great with the makeover! Employees are helpful, as they always have been! Have only had a small issue with them with special ordering rats, but it was understandable. They have everything you need for your pets, from dogs and cats to snakes and lizards! Waaay better than petsmart and other big name pet stores!

This place is my go-to place for frozen feeder rodents for my snake. I don't buy much else from here but their frozen feeders are a really good price and are sized appropriately. The store is very clean and they have this neat thing where after you spend $100 you get some money off your next purchase. They do it with a punch card.

I purchased a Cocker Spaniel from them about 20 years ago. He just recently passed. He was the best animal my family has ever had and he became one of us. His name is Buster. He loved camping, saying hi to the mailman, and going for long walks around the block. Had his own camping chair that he would lounge in. Village pet shoppe gave that to us. We are thankful for that.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We've got a snake and this is the only store in the area that sells live mice. They are reasonably priced, and if a mistake is made, they do everything they can to resolve the issue on the spot. I wish I could give a 10 star rating, because the people here are just wonderful, and the level of customer service exceeds every expectation.

We bought our English bulldog from here coming up on one year very soon. I have never been more pleased with a pet shop in my life. He is a great addition to our family. His pricing was reasonable and we are very pleased with his quality of his health.

I went to this store to buy a bird. Someone I knew used to work there and I wanted to check it out. There were two branches packed full with birds that were in a snake cage(I presume). There were no hanging food dishes, the dishes they had were placed on the floor of the cage and looked more like reptile bowls than a bird dish. The birds looked miserable. I will not go into why I got them for personal reasons. When they came home they were clearly abused either, at the store, or where they were bred. They caused me a lot of stress, and later one died(I got two). I don’t know why but it might’ve been some mental issue. The other bird (as of writing this) is alive but we don’t want him. The only benefit to having him is something to occupy our cat and the bird isn’t too scared of the cat ( if anything interested). I’ve heard horrible things about this place, but I wanted to talk about the birds, as I haven’t heard anyone focus on them as they clearly care more about their puppies (and let’s just say what they have to say is horrible). Never going again. Edit: The bird died, and I’m not saying the store it’s self is to blame for my terrified bird, maybe just the supplier that they came from. They responded....You are right, it is our responsibility on what happens to the bird, you are right there. But you don’t have the cleanest reputation in terms of suppliers. Recently, someone my mom knows got a puppy from your establishment. And when said friend asked if you get your puppies from a mill, you responded that they come from a reputable breeder, that’s funny......Turns out, she also knows someone who just so happens to work in the veterinary field, and knows her stuff. When she looked at the puppy, it had a torn ligament, and by the way, had a lot of diarrhea. She said it was a, and I quote...’ A classic puppy mill case.’ And the surgery for said ligament, was $4,000, she could use a brace, but that costed $1,000. The thing is, multiple reviews here state similar things, and go with other accounts of puppy mill dogs. Now you can refute this claim, or own up to you actions. Most people won’t care about a bird, but people LOVE puppies, so tread lightly.....

I had recently gotten a kitten and went to the village pet shoppe and the staffing were so helpful, kind, and patient in walking me through everything I would need to have and do for him. They also have a wide range of animals as well as an amazing owner!

Honestly I would give it zero stars if I could. There’s so many faults that I have come across when going into this pet store. The dogs they have are priced way too high and when larger breed dogs are kept three to one cage becomes uncomfortable. I thought they were getting their act together because I came back and started buying mice and crickets for my animals. But the other day I went in it was awful for so many reasons. The puppies all had runny stools and I understand you feed them store food but if they don’t have solid stools you should be feeding them rice and boiled chicken or beef to help keep their digestion system in good condition. Also, I went to get a mouse for my snake and they just had a dead one sitting in the food bowl and the lady that was working didn’t change out the contaminated food and then went to say this happens sometimes but I don’t know why. Maybe because the food they are eating is full of nasty bacteria. Also they thought it would be okay to put betta fish in tanks full of other fish that they aren’t compatible with. There were so many dead fish floating around the tanks and were obviously in there for a while since they were decomposing and the other fish were eating them. The birds they keep are abused and completely uncared for. Keeping 20 bird in a snake cage to the point where the birds have to sit in the floor or latch onto the wire cage. The crickets they do sell are only feed orange peels and then never cleaned out considering when I went there the cricket cages were full of dust and rotted oranges. Check the fold before you buy it because what they feed there feeder pets goes into your healthy animal. I get you’re a family business but take pride in your work place. Stop over stocking animals and hire educated people. And be friendlier to customers because whenever we go in there nobody cares about the customers except this one man that was there and he was extremely helpful. But any other time when he isn’t there the shop is a mess and completely dirty and there’s dust collected on basically every surface. Take care of the animals don’t just be in it for the money.

We bought a "Corgi" puppy from village pet shoppe. As ourpuppy grew it was obvious he wasn't total corgi. We did the Embark DNA test and he was mostly Corgi mixed with cattle dog and a few more unknown breeds. I love him. My issue is not with him it is with the irresponsible nature in which this petstore conducts itself. They can't tell you anything about the parents...H uge red flag for puppy mill. I cannot only fault them, I'm also at fault. I am very aware of where pet store puppies come from... That being said, I fell in love and here we are. I wish the story would end there, but it doesn't. At the age of 13 weeks our pup began showing signs of object guarding. He showed his teeth, lunged and bit me when I tried to remove daughters toy from his mouth. The behaviorist we took him to said at that very young age the aggression was most likely genetics. We will always need to be careful with him around food and taking any object away.. although we love him so much, I would advise from taking against doing what we did. Do your research. We were waiting for a dog from a breeder for a year and I got impatient.

I went in there today to look for a bunny, the person working there, seemed a little irritated with me. However, I was greeted, and she did answer all my questions. She was a little rough with the babies, and I think she saw my face when I handled them, because she let me get one for myself. The rabbits are very well cared for, however, they are in cedar shavings, which is very bad for their respiratory systems. But they have hay, and I didn't see any droppings, or evidence of ill health. The puppies and birds did seem a little miserable, but I didn't look at them, because I didn't want one. The puppies that sat in the cage on the floor were a little cramped, but it was clean, and no signs of abuse, as they immediately wanted me to pet them as I walked by. I follow the "adopt, don't shop" mantra, but because rabbits are difficult to find around here, I would not have any reservations about purchasing a small animal from this store. I think they just get irritated with people coming in just to pick up and look at the cute fluffies.

I have been coming to this shop since I was a child. We love the village pet shoppe! The ladies are always so nice. Today they hooked my husband up with some lovely dog treats for our pup! They are munchkin approved! Thanks ladies!

This is our hometown family store! Always love going in and speaking to the staff! They always have a good variety of dogs and cats. Their bunnies and the rest of the animals come from good people from our hometown area. If you want any information on origins of where their animals come from, theyre more than willing to provide. Great customer service, and my animals love to take visits in there!
