I showed up shortly after they opened, just to be told that I was unable to view any animals without having an application previously submitted / accepted...or a specific interest. Rather bummed at the circumstances. I even explained I had every understanding on having an accepted application prior to adopting... However, how can I submit my personal information without any idea of interest...

I am pleased to announce that I adopted this loveable cat, already declawed by previous owners, 😔 as my new Emotional Support/Therapy Companion and I'm in love! The staff at Strayhaven took EXCELLENT care of Bentley Cat until he found his loving home with me 💖

This shelter is great! Super friendly and helpful staff very clean and some of the sweetest fur babies ready for their forever home! I rescued my pup about 2 years ago now. I saw his picture on Facebook and they let me come meet him immediately. They let me come back a few times to visit and were very helpful in making sure he was a good fit and was going to a good home! I fell in love instantly and was able foster him until he was fixed. When I came back to officially adopt him it was close to Christmas and they sent me home with lots of goodies for Bo. He has settled right in! My mom wants another dog soon she will be going there to see who needs rescued next! They are very kind and truly care about their animals. I HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for a new family member you go visit strayhaven!

Please make them your first stop when looking for a pet. The employees here genuinely care about finding a home for every single animal they have. To the people complaining of being denied an adoption, that's on you, not the shelter employees. Have some patience and compassion. They might not return your call right away or be able to accommodate someone who shows up unannounced wanting to drop off animals. Sometimes the cat who's leg had to amputated or the abused dog who just arrived needs their attention. The people working here are expected to do so much with so little. Be kind, donate your own time or money, maybe offer some support instead of complaints and one Star reviews.

Strayhaven in Greenville is a great place whose employees show a great concern for their animals. My friend and I took three of seven cats we had rescued from a property where 20 total have been abandoned. We took the other four we rescued to other shelters. There are eleven more cats that need rescued but we need places that will accept them before we can make our move.

Wonderful employee's and beautiful animals. We recently visited Marley for a possible adoption. The dog was well mannered and taken care of. He was very good with my 2 boys who are 4 and 12 years old. The employees were knowledgeable on all the dogs that we were interested in. Knowing we have 2 children they knew which dogs were right to make an addition to our family.

I recently visited the shelter to meet an animal that I was interested in possibly adopting. Beth and the main kennel caretaker was very rude. I'm a return adoptee who was taken aback with the bad and "pushy" attitudes of these ladies. Whomever is in charge of this shelter really needs to retrain these individuals on interacting with possible adopters. Unfortunately, I am withdrawing my support for Strayhaven to support another animal shelter.

I got denied an adoption based on "behavior". We went to look at a cat with my toddler and I am still in the process of teaching him how to handle cats. We have come a long way but he does have his moments. He holds cats a certain way because he his small. While we were looking at cats I watched him the whole time. The cat he interacted with was older(but not the one we wanted). He was very affectionate towards my son and never hissed or growled or tried to scratch him. I was told my son pulled him by the tail which never happened. I was also told I never disciplined him when he was handling the cat incorrectly which was also false. When I walked in the room the cat seemed very sad. When we left the cat was purring and wanted to leave with us. From the moment I walked into the shelter I felt very uncomfortable. The vibes were off and it seemed like the staff was on edge. A few weeks ago I donated money to the shelter and I know it is for the pets but I'm sorry I did now because if I would have known the staff treated animals and people with such disrespect I wouldn't have. Don't waste your time on a shelter who likes to waste your time and money and obviously cares nothing about finding a great home for their animals.

We had three pets we need to adopt out (three cats, all strays. Two male, one female, all unfixed). Their website says nothing about requiring an appointment to drop off pets, just that they're no kill. They also said that they're chock full of pets, which I suppose they can't help and I don't blame them for, but the older woman at the front desk was extremely uncouth to us.She spoke in a smarmy tone, and asked if we had an appointment. When we confusedly said no, she repeated, "You DON'T have an appointment." as if we were morons for not making one, when their website never mentions them. She proceeded to flip through a three page list, roll her eyes and sneer at us while saying "Yeah, you'd be three pages behind, no."I would normally not be so bothered by this if they had any indication on their website that they require an appointment for everything. We don't have the space to take care of these cats.

We go in there looking for a dog there was three people and when we walked in they all looked at us like we were aliens. We told them we were looking for a dog and the skinny old lady rolled her eyes and slowly got up like we were burdening her. They made us feel stupid. I know they are a no kill and that’s awesome I don’t know if they are volunteers or get paid but horrible unpersonble service.

The staff are very friendly. You have to make appointments to see the animals. The cat room needs an expansion away from the dogs. The dogs are very loud and barking which is expected; however, most cats do not like loud noises. Because this is a nonprofit organization, they are doing the best they can.

I have adopted 2 dogs from Strayhaven . I adopt seniors both times I ended up with excellent companions. I highly recommend Strayhaven they are awesome and easy to work with. Since I adopt seniors sometimes they don't live long. I always search Strayhaven when I'm looking for a new companion.

We went to their rummage sale last week. The people running the event were so friendly and had a real passion with for what they were raising money for. When we are ready to adopt a cat again, I will definitely call them.

In September, I adopted a dog from Stray Haven and I really couldn't be happier! He is a wonderful dog and the people were so accommodating and kind! I recommend adopting from them and will be checking their shelter if I decided to adopt another furbaby in the future.

The process for adoption here is very smooth. We were approved and able to get a dog within a day. The volunteers obviously really enjoy their job and are great at it. Make sure you bring cash or check, no card machine.

I would give zero here if possible. We found a dog, put our application in with the understanding that the dog (Luna) was going on a visit Saturday. I called Monday and found our Luna was dropped back off and thought all was good. We were waiting on a recommendation to finish the process. The person who was giving it called them with no return call. I called them and told them she was available to be called at noon when they open. No problem I was told, we will call and get the adoption done today. They called at 1:42 and by that time placed the dog with another family. Just terrible management, and horrible people skills. Go there at your own risk.

My family spent half a week calling everyday to make sure that our application would be accepted so we could adopt a basset hound named Luna. The only thing we were waiting on was our application to be processed. We just called today and they adopted the dog to someone else without hesitation. Absolutely awful business, DO NOT GO HERE

I got a cat here that was supposed to be healthy and around a year old. She was fine for about 3 weeks and then died suddenly. It was devastating. I emailed Strayhaven and told them what happened but did not get any response from them. This was a truly awful experience that we never had before adopting pets. I think they could have at least followed up with a phone call or an email.

A worthy charity to support. Their staff and volunteers know the personalities of each of their 4 legged guests. Great place to meet your next pet!

Stray Haven adopted out a dog that they had no right to rehome. They had knowingly chosen not to reach out to the breeder the dog was registered to and adopt the pup out. Blatant disregard for the entire reason microchips exist!!!!!
