People are probably getting sick of hearing me say “my trainer says…” but I learn so much every single class, and I’m not a first time dog owner.She trains you to train your dog with fun and positivity. My dog loves going to school! And the classes are a good time for me as well. “Aunt Beth” is witty as hell, and makes me laugh regularly.The best, and most important part, is that my dog is thriving under her tutelage. I’m super proud of him and I know that his classes with NPAB are a big part in shaping his puppyhood.

We are so thankful to have found Aunt Beth at NPAB!! Archie is a “spunky” little guy and we were first time dog owners when we found her, so it was a bit overwhelming for us. She helped us so much through those tough puppy months and trained US to be the best dog parents. She is so knowledgeable and so down to earth. She truly is a “dog whisperer.” We’ve been through Puppy 1, Puppy 2 and Puppy 3 and have just signed up for Adult Manners. We are excited to continue our journey of learning at NPAB!! Our “crazy bastard” (as dubbed by Aunt Beth) has a lot more to learn!!

Aunt Beth and her team are the most amazing resource for any dog owner in the Pittsburgh area. She provides great knowledge and recommendations during private training, and offers a great variety of group classes. She presents it in a way that is very easy to understand and then apply. Her team is so dedicated and passionate about instilling a loving bond between you and your pet. I have since moved out of state, but feel so fortunate to have been introduced and have them as a resource to reach out to.

We took our girls to "Aunt Beth" of North Pittsburgh Animal Behavior for some training. Actually, Seira (on the recliner - in photo) needed some help with Noise Anxiety (thunder, gunshots, fireworks, car backfire, etc). Sadie (on the floor - in photo) was welcomed to come along for anything she could pick up as well. Aunt Beth was very patient and showed us several training tips to help our girl. Conquering noise anxiety is a long road to travel but with these tips we hope to provide Seira with the help she needs. I can’t praise Aunt Beth more than what she has done for me and my pups over the past year. From teaching me that having two sibling pups is not easy to train to being determined to train me to teach them, Beth has taught and shown me more things than other trainers have. Learning about behaviors, gait analysis, dog facial expression and body movements and then knowing what to do with that information to me was an incredible task. She was also determined to build my confidence in training and use my own observations, decision /ideas in training my pups. As she expressed she didn’t want me to use her as a crutch but to apply what I’ve learned. If anyone can help with canine behaviors and training… it sure is Aunt Beth. I highly recommend!!!

I came to NPAB when I got my Covid puppy in 2020. Beth is the best and most personable trainer making classes fun. Once you finish a class you can’t wait for another. I added a new pup in 2022 so I’m back training again. Retail hours on Saturdays are a great time to take your dog to visit Aunt Beth and pick up almost anything you need at the best prices around.

I cannot say enough good things about NPAB and Beth. She is a phenomenally good trainer and her classes are incredibly creative and fun. As a scientist I really appreciate that all of her techniques are based in sound animal behavior science and her amazing understanding of dog cognition. Beth is knowledgeable, patient, and completely hilarious - class is just an absolute blast to attend and my puppy has learned so much in such a short time. She is also super generous with her time and with dog treats for the pups :) I would highly recommend her services to anyone!

My dogs adore her and in just two visits so far, she has been able to help us work through so many issues with our pups. We never thought about classes for our puppy, but our Vet suggested some classes and North Pittsburgh Animal Behavior! Wow, were we glad we signed up! Learned so much from Beth! We were so amazed with her help and suggestions. She is a fun, relaxed, hard working trainer! Dogs are her life and you can tell as soon as you meet her! Even though our dog is done training, we still continue to have a relationship with Beth! When your dog gets so excited upon hearing her voice, you just know that Beth is special! Beth is insightful and takes great care in listening for the sometimes small clues and hints that can help shape realistic solutions to individual situations. I love my pup, but there were days he had me near tears. I understand him, and his triggers, better now after a few private meetings (worth every penny) and have seen real improvement. We can even reasonably walk him on a leash! She is a kind, committed and effective trainer. I am so glad I found her. You will be too.

The staff members are very good with our anxious little dog. The location has a nice space around the building so our dog can safely stretch his legs for a moment before we go inside, which is super helpful after a long drive. They let us wait in the car or outside and call us to come in either through the side entrance or when the lobby is clear of other dogs.

Beth is a amazing trainer. She always there to answer question and help us understand our dogs. We have two pit bulls and she never treated us different and one of our doggies is certified Cgc. Beth is absolutely wonderful! She is soooo helpful and knowledgeable. My doodle and I are attending her puppy 2 class and her training techniques are really helping. I'm not just teaching my dog to do tricks. She is learning how to behave in different situations and I am learning how to control my dog and also learning how to behave in different situations. Haha! Our puppy Bella is taking her second class here and WE are learning so much! Beth and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and you can tell they love what they are doing! They have not only helped us with Bella's training but have made us better pet owners. We are even planning to take our older dog for a class or two. And Friday night "Yappy Hour" is fun for all! I would recommend these guys to anyone training a dog if any age.

Beth is by far the best dog trainer I’ve ever met! I’m extremely glad we met her and chose her to help us with our pups! I had a very large crazy pup that I didn’t think I was going to be able to handle and she helped us train him and ourselves. She is highly educated and has so many helpful tips and tricks! In addition, she also has high quality dog food, toys, and treats. I know anything I purchase from her is 100% safe for my dogs and the toys don’t get destroyed immediately like the ones from retail stores, such as Walmart, etc. Prices are extremely reasonable and worth every penny! Beth is a small business, which I would rather support small businesses then big chains! Check her out, you definitely won’t be disappointed.

Beth is seriously the best there is! We are so thankful she came into our life and will be forever grateful. Our Petey wouldn't be here with us if it weren't for Beth. We rescued a lemon of a pup, so many problems with him. He was on his way out. Beth came into our home and spent over 3 hours with us. We have been to NPAB several times, some of those times Beth came in to meet us completely changing her schedule to fit our needs. She taught us how to train our pup. We didn't give up on him because she didn't give up on us. If you are looking for someone who is kind, caring, compassionate and loves your Pet as much as you do, Beth is the one. I’ve had dogs my entire life and learned every dog is different. My 2 year old pup has had anxiety /leash reactivity since we brought her home. I’ve never dealt with a dog like this before and found Beth for training. Beth has been working with her for over a year and my dog is beyond excited to see her each and every time. I can't say enough great things about North Pittsburgh Animal Behavior!! Trainer/owner Beth Mcgonigal is amazing, and goes above and beyond to help train you and your dog. We started with private lessons in our home with our boxer puppy, and not only did she work with me, but she included my kids in the training sessions. I love her positive reinforcement training techniques, and how she stresses the importance of socialization. She also offers group classes, and private lessons at her facility.
