I looked all over Lancaster County to find someone to design and supply an outdoor kitchen with no luck. I found plenty who supply the appliances, but nobody to do the whole package. Luckily I stumbled across an ad for Lanchester Hearth and Grill. They connected me with Sam, the Owner, and he patiently helped me put my dreams into a reality. They have a nice display of outdoor kitchens and associated appliances (grills, drawers, burners, refrigerators, etc.) on their property and Sam was very knowledgeable in helping me design and specify everything. Their installers did a top notch job down to the minute details of the stone installation on the front surface. I would recommend Sam and Lanchester Hearth and Grill to the most discriminating buyer.

From sales to customer service to installation, every part of the process was smooth an easy. A "one stop" shop that provided all required processes. Other shops required us to be a project manager including hiring an electrician and having propane company do the hook up. Lanchester Grill and Hearth did it all.

The fireplace insert is beautiful and it heats the room and surrounding rooms with blower on. The customer service was excellent. They are trustworthy and thorough making sure everything worked well and to our satisfaction.

Sam and his crew at LanChester Grill and Hearth did an amazing job installing a double sided (see-through) fire place in our home. After being told by others we could only have a single sided fireplace at that location, Sam carefully inspected the location and devised a plan that was both structurally and aesthetically sound. They are very knowledgeable and provided practical, economic and esthetic guidance throughout the entire design and installation process. We got our dream see-thru fire place with floor to ceiling stack stone surrounds and two custom designed and built mantles for less than we were previously quoted for a single sided fireplace. They were willing to go the extra mile to get every detail right. I could not be happier with the experience we had working with the personable and professional staff at LanChester.

Had an opportunity to finally stop in this store which I have passed by the sign many years. It was perfect timing as no one else was in the store so Sam Stolfutz the owner was able to give me a 1 on 1 tour of his amazing facility. Simply beautiful displays, every corner you turn there is something that makes your jaw drop. Really enjoyed talking with him. I own a chimney sweep company, Safe-T-Sweep, Inc out of Glen Mills, PA and I am always looking for good businesses to be able to refer to my customers. I will definitely be adding LanChester to my list of contacts. I was looking at their Google reviews and unfortunately a lot of them are several years old. I hope to hear good experiences from our customers when I start giving his name out.

We had LanChester Grill & Hearth install a Mendota fireplace in our house in March 2021. Everything went smoothly, from the initial order we placed in the showroom to the installation of the fireplace in our home. The owner even contacted us prior to installation to let us know that the safety screen we had selected would not fit unless we had our stone fireplace cut and reconfigured. He offered us the option of choosing a replacement screen with a similar look that would require less construction work and reduce costs. We gladly chose an alternative screen and are quite pleased with the results. The fireplace looks great and is very efficient. We highly recommend LanChester Grill & Hearth!

Bought a new stove to replace my wood stove. Sam, the owner, was easy to work with, pleasant and informative. We bought a floor model for a considerable discount and Sam's team installed it 2weeks later. His installation crew were extremely professional and completed the job in about 6 hours. From sales, to selection, to service, LanChester Grill & Hearth is the place to go if you're looking to install a fireplace. They have a good selection of grills, too. Sam was helpful finding what we needed to replace an existing builder-grade propane fireplace with a top-of-the-line Mendota unit. They subcontracted a carpenter to rework or mantle and everything turned out great. We're even using the carpenter again on an unrelated project.Between freinds and family, four others fireplaces were purchased and installed with nothing but high marks.

No stars. Very bad experience with Lanchester Grill. Purchased a propane insert for an outdoor fireplace for $2200 including install, unknowing that what they sold us was for an indoor fireplace. After 7 years it was unusable and I visited the store and they suggested they could come out and give us an estimate for a new unit. Never mentioned there would be a charge and then we received a bill in the mail for $148 for them to evaluate the problem! We contacted another business who came out for no charge and helped us find a unit that is made for the outdoors. He stated that Lanchester Grill should not have sold us the unit they did knowing it was for the outside. Lanchester Grill would not stand behind their materials or even admit they sold us the wrong product.

We have had our fireplace about five years or more, and we love it. It throws off a lot of heat when wanted. Jerry does the maintenance usually every year, and he stops at our house at the end of the day on his way home. We are very satisfied with the fireplace and appreciate Jerry very much!

2 stars for pleasant associates and a nice-looking product, but Mendota (corporate) product support is lousy—they have been slothful and or overtly cavalier in not responding to a query from Lanchester Grill and Hearth, which is especially problematic because a problem reported over the phone—an incessant beeping coming from the unit—has these supposed experts flummoxed.This is a model that has been in existence for some years, and one would expect that it is unlikely this is the first time such beeping has been reported. Since the unit is no longer under warranty, I was told this piece of Mendota crap was likely to cost me at least $350 to fix (keep in mind the person telling me this has no clue what’s wrong, which means at this sorry stage of human development that “it’s probably the board—we’ll have to replace it.” Bottom line? NEVER BUY A GAS FIREPLACE. EVER!
