The staff is wonderful. They are the only ones who do our dogs' nails & grooming! I even sometimes get pics of, especially, our black lab kissing up the ladies! They are so good there & treat your fur babies like family... actually even better!

I have a Maltipoo. Charlene cuts her hair every other month. Charlene always takes care of her, she does an excellent job with bathing and keeping her groomed. Charlene let's me know when she's had fleas or problems with her ears or whatever she thinks Poppi needs attention (even the right kind of dog food). I highly recommend her to everyone.

Gypsy has not been able get into a Professional Groomer for a while.. Grooming by Charlene (thanks to a good friend) fit her into their very busy schedule. Gypsy looks Beautiful!!! She gets so exhausted after being groomed... This is the best picture I could get....

As one person said our dog was traumatized will never bring him back again. He was very active before going there now he just sits in his bed hardly moving and yelps each time you try and move him. I just thought he hated getting groomed when he’d run for the door, when taking him in there but whoever is grooming him has done something to him, and I won’t be back. Good riddance.

I've been taking my Shih Tzu here for 3 years now and my parents have been bringing their Husky and Lab for almost 10 years. I couldn't be more pleased with how they treat my fur baby. I was even made aware of a possible ear problem by them and encouraged to take him to a vet and did so later that day to discover a double ear infection he had developed. It might have taken me longer to notice he had this problem since he wasn't really showing me any signs of an issue.

I've been taking my shih tzu there for a couple of grooms. I have not had her spayed yet because I'm not sure if I want to breed her. I was explaining that to her she had the nerve to say that she wasn't worth it. Maybe not to her but she doesn't know how I got Charlie and she is priceless to me.I told her I wouldn't be back because I dont like her attitude and then she says they don't like animals that aren't spayed. I was furious.You have the right to refuse service, not to be rude and disrespectful.

Took my dog here for quite awhile, who never had an issue with being groomed, and still doesn’t since leaving this business. My dog would back away, cringe when I went to pet him or hug him upon picking him up…would scream, cry when I dropped him off…I still feel in my heart they were mean to my sweet, loving dog. These ppl tip shame you..you ask, who groomed my dog, and the answer was, all 4-5 people back there, who are you suppose to tip..all these ppl? At almost $70 who can afford to tip all these ppl. So they kept raising the price, quit calling to confirm my appointment, went as far as not clipping his hair that I had done the same every month..blow dried him, and brought him to me..then charged me extra to clip him..they said I didn’t tell them. My dog would be dropped off at 10:00 and be there until 4-5:00. The girl at the front needs to get a new job..just a very unhappy environment. My dog is so much happier with grooming since leaving Charlene’s..I was warned, and didn’t listen..very bad reputation in dog community..stay away from this place!!

My dogs have been groomed there since I was a kid. They are so knowledgeable with the breeds, cut styles and over all well being of the dogs. They know a lot about the nutritional aspect of the dogs ( and cats) too. My dogs always loved to go for their “spa day”. I miss having them close now that I have moved out of town. Highly recommend.

Reeked of urine when I went to pick up my dog. I understand there's snow outside, but pick up a shovel! That's just disgusting to let them pee inside! Over priced. Not friendly. They complained about my dog's moles... Come on! It's her breed and she's getting older, never have I ever had a groomer complain about doing their job. It also took them OVER 5 hours to groom an 11 pound shih tzu. She also had cuts all over her stomach from being shaven too close. Ridiculous. Not going back.

We have been taking our dogs to Charlene for YEARS and we are always pleased with the results! The staff is very helpful and the selection in the boutique is great as are the prices. Char is very knowledgeable about anything K9 (probably cats too). Anytime we have a health or behavior question we ask Char before a visit to the vet. She always has a solution and they always work. We have a new puppy and we would not even think of going elsewhere.

She's not a nice person years ago in 1981 . She was on west 6th or west 8th. And I got a recuse afghan dog that was very matted. I went there and I had like 20 dollars to my name and she was OK with it , but she did one side of my dog and told me when done with it that it was going to be more to do the other side because of the mats.i told her that I didn't have any more money and i wasnt going to get pay until Friday which it was a monday. She said well I can't finish your dog. I was so in shock I took the dog with just half of its side done. I don't recommend her to no one ..

We have been taking our four pound yorkie to Charlene for over a year! We absolutely love everything about it there! The staff are so nice and genuinely care and take care of our dog when he is there. He comes back looking great and exhausted from a fun day! We recently got another yorkie and I think the staff was just as excited as we were to get her! We will bring our dogs here no matter what and highly recommend them to anymore!

Char has been working with our Family dogs for about 8 years now. She was a life saver when I rescued a Shephard Mix who was abused. I was shocked when she suggested to bring her in for bathing and help with grooming since she was so afraid and anti-social. So much progress has been made thanks to Charlene and her staff and even the Vet complimented how nicely groomed she keeps Maggie. Currently I am challenging her with a Chi who was nipped during a bad nail cutting at the Vet and is now considered traumatized. The staff is friendly and they really do care about the animals. They are just as patient with me, the over protective Mom to my dogs, as they are to the pets that come in there. They have proven to be very reliable and even have no problem coming out to talk to you about issues that you may not see with the dogs skin or coat and suggest for you to have them checked out at your Vet. They do care about the animal not as a paying customer but as their friend. If you have a pet and want the best loving care from a Groomer, I recommend Grooming By Charlene. The Staff is great to work and they do care about your pet as if it's their own.

We used to go here years ago when we lived in Millcreek. Since moving to Harborcreek we've been to several groomers but our dog was always very frightened to go back. We decided it was worth the drive to come back and couldn't be happier we did. Our dog was happy when we dropped him off and still happy when we picked him up. They were excellent with him and we're never going to change groomers again.

I took my dog (a male intact Bichon) to Charlene's to be groomed recently. I was NOT satitisfied with the service and will not be returning my dog there. They over-charged me (quoted me one price and then charged me another), did NOT groom my dog the way I asked and wasnt very helpful in the least. I asked for a traditional bichon clip and when my dog was returned to me, she had basically SHAVED him an claimed it was b/c he was "matted". My dog was NOT matted in the least. I brush and comb him on a regular basis nor does he have fleas as the staff claimed. I will continue to search for a decent groomer for my dogs but Charlenes will no longer recieve my business.

If there was a way I could give zero stars for this horrible place I certainly would. I took my 7 month old Parti Yorkie puppy there to be groomed. When he went in, he looked like a miniature sheepdog, his hair was about 5 inches long. When I picked him up, he looked like a shaved poodle, hair shaved down to his skin! The first thing that made me uneasy about this place is the woman that works the front desk yelled at him, in front of me, because he was squirming when she tried to take him from me. My puppy had just been neutered several weeks ago, so he was probably thinking he was at the vet again, and that made him very hesitant to go to someone else. I told that woman, multiple times, that I DID NOT want him to be cut short. Before she even felt his hair she said, 'well if he is all matted then he will be cut short'. I told her that he was not full of matts and I only wanted about half the length of his hair cut off and the rest of him trimmed up to match. I told her, in no uncertain terms, that I wanted him to remain 'shaggy', just neatened up. I did not feel comfortable leaving him there, and in hindsight, and $50 later, I wish I had gone back in and taken him with me. The woman was very rude to me and impatient with a 7 month old puppy's squirming when she took him away from his 'mother', so that should have been my indication to grab him and run out the door. When I picked him up, I was in shock, and tears, when that same woman carried him out and he was shaved down to his skin! I was speechless, and when she saw my face she immediately said, with an attitude, 'he was one big matt, he had to be shaved.' My puppy started squirming in her arms because he saw me, and she had the nerve to start yelling at him again! I was so appalled that they would go against a client's specific wishes to that extent that my only thought at this point was to get my puppy out of there and never return. At a minimum, if they truly felt there was no recourse but to shave the poor thing, then they should have called me, knowing my feelings on cutting his hair short, and gave me the option of picking him up and taking him elsewhere...which I certainly would have done in a heartbeat! I honestly think that, because it would have taken them longer to have actually 'groomed' him and combed him out and trimmed him up, they just shaved him instead. That to me is not grooming, it's getting as many dogs out the door the quickest and easiest way they can to make more money. The rest of that day and evening, my puppy was very subdued and acted very strangely. I was concerned because he was always so happy and wanting to play. After picking him up from Charlene's, he would just tuck himself back in a corner of a room in the house and sit there looking at me. He wouldn't follow me around like he always did and did not want to play. So not only does this place show no regard to their client's wishes, I also, judging by my puppy's behavior after him having been there for 5 hours, wonder how the puppies are treated in that 'backroom'. My puppy definitely displayed a different type of behavior after being left there. I know my puppy's hair will grow back, and while it make me so upset and angry every time I look at him and know that my wishes were totally disregarded as a paying client, the fact that my puppy might not have been treated kindly is something that I will not tolerate nor forget. Please think twice before leaving your puppy with these people. I will certainly be telling my story to as many people as I can to save them, and their pets, the same awful experience that we have gone through.

VERY pricey. Paid nearly $80 to get my dog groomed back in August. At the time of drop-off I specifically requested to not have my dog's face trimmed, but they shaved around her eyes anyways, which I was really unhappy about -- it made her look ridiculous. I ended up switching to another local groomer that charges half the price, and is more attentive to customer requests.

We have been taking our dog Cody to Grooming by Charlene since we moved to Erie from Pittsburgh 7 years ago. The staff is always so friendly to us and our fur baby. Cody would run the other way when we took him to the groomer we used in Pittsburgh. At Charlene's he willing walks right in! Grooming by Charlene is the best groomer in Erie!

Rude. Mean to my dog. Every time I took my shih tzu there to be groomed, I'd pick him up and he'd be groggy and sleep the whole day. I later found out they gave him benadryl without my consent every time. Multiple razor burns under his neck. Only went a couple times til I found a different place. I refuse to go there again.

I have a very well behaved Rottweiler. Was told they will no longer take large dogs which is very upsetting!
