What a difference! I just got back from a big chain pet store with a friend. I dread those places. As we were walking in the door, I told my friend all about the first time Chief, my shepherd lab, got arrested and the absolute horror and fear he showed when they made me put him back in the cage and go up front, out of view but within earshot. All good intentions aside (and really people who work with animals generally all do like to take good care of them), it reminds me of critter prison.There just is no way with that many handlers and critters to really pay attention to each one individually.PetScapes was a small family owned business. They really loved each of their guests. The 3' wide tortoise wandering the aisles was priceless!I can't believe this place is gone! Someone please tell me that they moved to a bigger property. Or tell me why so we can figure out how to stop really good indie businesses from going extinct!
