I've been going to this hardware store for close to 20 yrs and completely satisfied with the selection and service. They always hire helpful staff who are eager to assist. However during the last 3 trips Ive noticed one of the mature ladies [possible owner] has had a curt/sarcastic tone. Im thinking loyalty has stopped me from driving the additional mile to the new TSC, but maybe I should.

Absolute worst Ace I've ever been to.I'm a disabled US Army Vet who can barely get out of bed. I bought a heater to use in a well ventilated space as instructed, and it burned everyone's eyes. I brought it back not even 2 weeks later, when I was able to leave my bed again,and the manager by the last name of Lewis refused to return it, saying he can't make a profit out of it.So an item bought within 2 weeks is non returnable?He wants me to jump through 40 different hoops and shove all responsibilities on the manufacturer.I'm going to keep this plain and simple for all my fellow Vets other there:AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Do not do business with people as callus as these!Make the 45 minute drive to Lowes, where they actually give you a military discount and APPRECIATE your service.Ace, place with the helpful hardware folks?More like Ace, place with the most miserable hardware folks!!!!!!

I spend more time here than I care to admit. and have always (in the past) got help from somebody who actually asked me if I needed it. I don’t now as I know the whole store… such a refreshing change from HD workers actively trying to dodge a question. They are liberal with the mailed offers but those should be emails and though o support them the prices should be price matched. If I need quantity of something or sadly isn’t here.

Traditionally, I have purchased the majority of my tools and building supplies from HD, largely due to proximity, stock and pricing. Having recently moved to an area where the closest HD or L store are significantly farther away, I decided to hit Lewis Ace for some immediate supplies. Grateful I did, as they not only had everything I needed, but the staff - in particular Chris at the paint counter - were welcoming and efficient (both consistent problems for those other "big box" operators). I've been back three times already in two days and am relieved to know I've got a local hardware store I can rely on to get me through this reno project.

Clean place. The staff is knowledgeable, but you can tell the younger staff know where items are, but not necessarily experts. If you can get the owner or Rob to help you're golden. Prices are a little higher then average, but if you're local it's worth saving the time of not driving as far for a couple offs and ends.

Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. They usually have what I’m looking for and when they don’t, they say so. I appreciate the lack of runaround when I’m looking for answers. Once they even suggested that I purchase my kerosene from the gas station down the road (much, much cheaper) rather than buy the small container they sold. I’d never done that before and they actually explained to me how to do it (I was dumb city folk in this regard). They may be rushed with people but they will always take the time to explain or teach. Good people, good place. More expensive than the big box stores but I’ll always stop here first. It’s like checking with your wise neighbor. Thank you!

A hardware store that has a little bit of everything. A great paint selection, plumbing, HVAC, keys, lighting, tools, home/garden, and a lot more. The staff is friendly, helpful and as a whole are very knowledgeable about their products.

The prices r on the expensive side but since there's no other hardware store around unless you go miles away, I get why. Some of the people are friendly and helpful, a few are downright nasty. Just learn to avoid the unfriendly folks who apparently would rather be somewhere else. The store is surprisingly well stocked and organized.

I have been to Ace twice since moving to this area. Every single time I am greeted at the door and asked if I need help which the employees willingly show me around the store and are so helpful. I would rather spend my money here then going to another big box hardware store where I am ignored. Thank you to Chris for the help and the rest of the staff on site will go above and beyond all expectations.

Lewis Ace is my local Ace store. Its larger than most of the Aces in my area. This is good as they carry an expanded inventory. Of course this Ace offers key cutting, sharpening, screen repair and other services. You can also get a propane fill. Last time it cost me 10 bux. This one also sells lumber and other building materials, again, thanks to its size. Unless I've needed something really esoteric, they've always had what I needed. This Ace is much closer to me than Lowe's or Home Depot so I'm quite happy with the expanded inventory. My last visit was a cheap one. I needed some hardware. Just some nails and screws. I got in, got what I needed and got out. The store is bright and clean. Its well laid out and the aisle are pretty spacious. The parking lot, especially the entrance, needs some love. I drive a low slung sports car and I worry about scraping bottom when I enter or leave. The staffing here is really why I can't go 5 stars. Most are courteous if not friendly. There are some who clearly don't want to be there and it shows. I'll still go back because it's close and they have what I need.

This is a wonderful hardware store. They carry a wide range of inventory and the service is impeccable. It's nice to know that I can walk into a local store and receive full assistance with my purchase. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. My dog was welcome and got a treat :)

Price is much more than bigger chains ,but your paying for convenience of the location , but customer service is better at least you can find an employee, not like in Lowes and Home Depot, you have to walk the entire store, a hope they remember to come help you!

This store has the best, knowledgeable employees ever.Living in NYC, I knew nothing about fixing or maintenance of a house. I’ve learned so much from Brian.Brian has been my go to for all my projects. This young man is knowledgeable and not afraid to go to some other employee for help.What makes this store “special” are the people that are there day to day that are willing to explain and teach a NYC boy about “how to” on anything.I go here because I feel the caring and humbleness of these employees.I want to take this tome to thank Brian. When it comes to diy projects around the home there three retail business where I purchase the materials I need. However, I don't always find what I am looking for and many times the big retailers send me to Ace. They always say, "if you don't find it at Ace Hardware Store," you won't find it anywhere. In my experience? They are absolutely right.Lewis Ace is convenient for me not only for their location, but because their staff. They are courteous, polite and very helpful. You don't need to run around the story looking for help because there's always someone to assist you. Wether you need help with plumbing, electrical work or any other tasks involving home improvement, the staff is experienced and able to help you. The only downside of it is their prices which are a little higher than the big retailers. However, their services and location overrides the price difference.

If I could give negative stars I would. I’ve lived here 17 years and always shopped here. Over the last 2years something has seriously changed and the most recent the worse!! Completely UNHELPFUL and they act like you’re bothering them if you ask a question or need help. It’s the same on the phone as it is in the store. It’s not just one or two people there either, it seems to be everyone. We avoid Lewis’ now and travel all the way up to Tannersville to Steele’s True Value. They are friendly and extremely helpful!! We haven’t been here in almost 6 mos and I mistaking,y sent my guy down there to ask for a nozzle part for our power washer — they treated him like he had 10 heads and were annoyed that he asked them anything at all. WE ARE DONE WITH THEM. They should be thankful they have ANY business with the attitudes they have there! UPDATE: August 2022 NOTHING has changed. Called here for some needed lumber instead of wasting 3hrs going out to Home Depot and back and AGAIN but NOPE! He only had 16' boards (which were much more expensive too but we were ing to pay it anyway) we asked if he could cut them down so we could fit them in our truck, we needed 10. He had a FIT on the phone and verbatim said "you want me to stand outside and cut 10 boards for you?!?" I said yes if you could. He replied curtly, scoffing, "No I can't do that" Oh okay I could've dealt with a simple 'no we cant' but to add the rest of what he said and how he said it was unprofessional. But hey That's F I N E Home Depot we went, big box got richer and missed a couple hundred, $$ sake AGAIN and forever.We cannot wait until Tractor Supply or someone else opens up in this area. No more No more NO MORE. TERRIBLE AWFUL PEOPLE. WHY bother owning a store at all when you have less than ZERO customer service skills, or the willingness to even want to be c/s oriented?? Disgusting attitude.
