On August 26th (2023), my wonderful little cat and companion of 17 years, named Odie was dying. My poor cat was falling over, could no longer hold down her food, was peeing outside her litter box, and her organs were shutting down. On Saturday morning, I called every vet in NEPA. All of them refused to give me an emergency appointment to euthanize my cat. I found VCA Animal Hospital in Dunmore, gave them a call, and I spoke to Esther. I was crying so much I'm surprised she could understand me. I begged them for an emergency appointment. Esther took pity on me and said she'd ask the vet if she could squeeze me in. Within 20 minutes I received a call back, and they agreed to see me right away.VCA Animal Hospital has an ALL-STAR staff, and they're the best at what they do. I want to say THANK YOU, Esther! Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and for asking the vet to squeeze me in. THANK YOU also Lou, for your kindness, understanding, and the stories you shared with me. It means so much. I will forever be grateful for the outstanding service you provided me for my little furry baby in my time of need.Because of your kindness, my little kitty no longer has to suffer. I also wanted to write this review to let everyone in NEPA know how wonderful everyone is at VCA.VCA provided me 5 star service, a red carpet treatment and were so attentive to my needs. The room they put me in to euthanize my cat was incredible. It was very comfortable and accommodating. VCA has a fantastic facility. If I ever have another pet, this is THE ONLY PLACE I WILL GO.Dr. Esopi was the most compassionate and caring vet I've ever spoken to. Again, Lou and Esther were also incredible. I could sense the concern they had. And not just because it was their job, but they truly cared about me and the precious life of my pet. Thank you for also sending a condolence card. It means so much!In closing, I also just want to let everyone know, there was one last unexpected bonus. I decided to have my cat cremated. When I picked up her remains, they took my cats little paws and imprinted them into a special mold with her name. I cried so much seeing this and IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME! Too much to express my words of gratitude. I didn't even know I was getting the little paw prints that I can now proudly display forever. I am deeply grateful for everyone at VCA Animal Hospital and I will tell everyone I come in contact with that you are THE BEST! Thank you once again for taking a sad situation and going so incredibly over the top with your care and attention. I can now look back 8-26 and smile because I know how blessed I am to have found the VCA Animal Hospital in Dunmore.

I've used them for my dog Rocco for some years. I don't have much money and they were always kind about everything in general. I see many reviews concerning their prices. Now they are expensive. U so get really excellent care here in my experience. Dr Woodley was so kind the whole way around and dr Esopi. The veterinarians don't set the prices I'm petty sure. I had to put Rocco down the other day. I had him almost 10 yrs and they were so very kind. They helped make an unbearable situation a little easier. Thank you so much💔❤️

The vets and staff here are great BUT THEY ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. My first dog has gone there since she was a puppy. Vaccines, spay, microchip, and routine tests cost me a little over $1000. Their prices has tripled in the last two years. I brought my new puppy to them to be checked out and be neutered, they quoted me $1100-1200 just for the neuter!!!! He weighs 40lbs. 3 vaccines and a fecal test has cost me over $400 for him. I went to memorial vet in dickson city and he was neutered for less than $500. Next, my rabbits teeth needed to be filed, it’s very hard to find a vet for a rabbit, I called vca and they have an exotic vet, they quoted me almost $300 to have my rabbits teeth filed! I went to back mountain vet in Dallas and they examined my rabbit and took care of his teeth for $95!!!! The exotic vet at back mountain was AMAZING and my bunny will always go there. My recommendation is to definitely call around, there are some amazing vets out there that won’t charge you an arm, a leg and your first born child. VCA will take the love you have for your pets and bankrupt you. I’m honestly very upset over it, I loved going there. My pets will be going to memorial and back mountain from now on.

Dr Ortiz and all of the staff and vet techs have been wonderful to my Golden Puppy, Little Lady and my family. We were referred for a free visit when we adopted our girl from an AKC registered breeder. While it’s a distance I’m so glad we took the appointment as it’s now been a 1.3 years and we have just completed her Spay under their puppy care club plan. Which was an affordable option for the puppy years and keeping up with the consistent care required for new puppies. They have been there for us not only while she grows but in emergency situations as well. I wanted to take the time to write a good review as it’s disheartening to see all the negative feedback. Between Covid, Not One More Vet, Limited staffing, car-side service and the level of expertise and care the staff here are truly doing their best and it shows in our overall care and health of our baby. I highly recommend VCA Dunmore to anyone needing professional, affordable care for their animals. Thank you everyone for doing such a great job on Little Lady’s Spay surgery today and making sure she returned safe and sound and for answering all of my helicopter dog mom questions.

I've been using VCA of Dunmore for a few years now and I love them. Dr. Esopi has been nothing short of wonderful. There is ample parking, onsite grooming services, public restrooms and it is quite easy to get to. They make an effort to accommodate my schedule and honestly, I've never had an issue with getting the care I needed for my cat and dog. Veterinarian care isn't cheap, no matter where we choose to go. So if I'm going to spend money, at least I know I'm getting the best care at VCA.

It was a 1st time visit for my dog Shiloh. We moved to PA 4 months ago. I saw Dr. Baber for my dogs eye issue. He has some clear goopy stuff in them often. She refused to tell me anything about his problem not even a guess or suggestion because I declined the eye exam she wanted to perform for $158.00. Every question I asked her she replied “I can’t answer that as you declined the exam. She was very negative about everything I was doing for him as far as supplements and even the food I feed him. I feed him the best food you can give. I will not go back to her. I will ask forDr. Falzone as I heard she is wonderful. The vet tech that was working with her was also a little fresh she got very annoyed when I asked her not to restrain my dog by his collar that he was choking. The people at the front desk were wonderful and very friendly.I would like to update my review. We returned to VCA in Dunmore and had a wonderful visit with Dr Falzone. She was very caring, explained everything and took excellent care of my dog, Shiloh, a totally different experience from our first visit. We are very happy with the facility and will definitely be going back to see, Dr. Falzone thank you for your compassion and care.

I recently had to have my best friend Mandy put down and everyone there were very gracious and made my visit as painless as possible for both of us. The time they gave me to be with her before and after was as much as I needed with no limits. I will be forever greatful. VCA Dunmore is all about ringing up your bill, you'll be lucky to get out of there under 300. Its very seldom you see the same vet twice. The only good thing about this place is the groomer, Niki. They need Ramsey back..

We recently had to take our beloved dog Cece to be euthanized due to old age and a very sudden deterioration in her health it was one of the hardest days of our lives the staff here made all of the difference they were all incredibly kind and compassionate as for the vetranarians specifically the whole euthanasia process was explained to us perfectly and so much care was shown towards our best friend in her final hour we were even sent a personalized sympathy card through the mail a few days later I truly want to thank the entire staff for their kindness and compassion it somewhat lessened the pain we felt that day and that means a lot

WARNING stay far away from this place!! I took my 10 year old Shih tzu there in August because he was coughing. They said he had a heart murmur and should go to a cardiologist. I have had several dogs with heart murmurs and their vets would always prescribe heart medication for them. They refused to prescribe heart medication and instead wanted to do outrageously expensive tests on him. We called every cardiologist we could find. The best we got was an appointment for October 30 with one & put on a waiting list with another one. Our precious Coco died 2 days ago due to his heart issues 💔. I gave them a one star review because you can’t post if you don’t give them stars!!

Unfortunately can not recommend this clinic. yesterday I put anti flea collar on my dog, she vomited this morning, I decided to call our vet for an advice, maybe it is a side effect from collar.(doctor recommended it herself, btw).Technician called me back-told me very strictly that since I did not purchase collar from them-they can not help me-I have to call to collar manufacturer. No sympathy, no attempts to help me with my concerns-I can call collar manufacturer or come and pay for appointment/visit. They do not even try to be nice and at least pretend that they care about my pet…Feeling disappointed.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The lobby is clean and so are the exam rooms. The price is reasonable and they truly care about your pet. I would recommend this place for anyone who has a animal that they care about. They explain the cost of your treatments and give you options in the care of your fur baby.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE! I have been bringing my two yorkies here for 3 years. This morning the one woke up in pain and can't lift her head, only looks down at floor. Called for an appointment. No one will see her. They said take her to emergency. Emergency is closed. Called back begging for prescription refill since this happened to her before. No one will call in a refill since her normal vet is off until Tuesday. So my dog will suffer all weekend and even when I called to say can't see emergency, they didn't care.

They were great. I disagree with having to have a presurgical appointment when you just saw a dog. That's ok though I am in Florida now and my dog gets fixed soon. VCA was always good to us. I wish them the best.

But I am grateful for their help as my regular Vet. was unable to find time to see my baby.Cons: the person behind the desk tried to have me take out a care loan after I said I wasn't interested ... she continued to proceed to have me come in a back room for someone else to attempt to change my mind ... I only needed to go home for my credit card.... SMH

Although they were able to get our pup in very fast, which we appreciate they didn’t provide much of an insight at all. Our pup has a cyst on her head, that has become infected which causes facial swelling.They wouldn’t do much unless we paid them $268 for a cytology and $400 for a blood work panel.They offered no read help- and sent us home with an antibiotic (which I had to ask for) and an anti inflammatory.Dr. Leiken had an attitude when she found out I refused to pay $700 on top of the examination fee and the medication fees.The only reason we ended up at this vets office is because ours was unfortunately closed and we didn’t want our pup to be in discomfort .After a quick phone call to our vet today, we have an appointment for Friday which they charge $50 for a cytology & $60 for blood work - it’s amazing how much is a rip off VCA Dunmore animal hospital is - and they don’t even provide any helpful advice.Years ago we had a poodle who we took here to see dr. Ramsi, he has since left & it seems the quality of care has gone down hill.And as for Dr. leiken - her unprofessional attitude was unwarranted.I do not and will not ever recommend this place, unless you want to throw your money away and not get any real advice or help.I do have to say, the front desk staff was very kind.

I called this facility when my regular vet could not do dental work for my cat who could not close his mouth, therefore, he could not eat or drink. The receptionist was amazing and said to bring him in right away because he had to be in pain. I took him there and within a few hours they had him all fixed up and good as new. I switched vets at that point.They were also extremely helpful when my 17 year old dog needed to be put to sleep. It was during Covid, but they still let us in and let us take our time when we said our final goodbyes. I also received a card in the mail signed by them expressing their condolences. They are wonderful!

Normally I do not post my opinion on public forums like this, however, we have been going to this vet for years and were very loyal customers. Recently we had some problems with doctors miss diagnosing our dog, and overdosed him on medication which then led to neurological issues that will never be reversed. We then pulled our dog and took him somewhere else (he's doing much better and is receiving proper care). We were still taking our rabbit to VCA because he is considered an exotic animal and not many vets around the area take them. We called very concerned because he had not eaten, had a bowel movement or drank water in 3-4 days. We had an appointment scheduled but tried coming in as an emergency visit and THEY TURNED US AWAY they said No and they "didn't know what to tell me". I was crying on the phone expressing how I felt my pet was going to DIE (which rabbits can if they do not use the bathroom in that amount of time) they still refused me even though they take emergency visits. Ever since we pulled our dog we have been treated awful. We took our rabbit to a new vet and they are wonderful! They informed us of issues we had no idea about that VCA neglected to inform us of. It's a shame this happened and my rabbit had to suffer the way he did. No emergency should be turned away especially when the owner is expressing how extreme the situation is. Our new vet said they were surprised our rabbit made it because he very well should have died.

I am a new client who called in with leg injury to my dog, Oreo. Addison was extremely helpful even though they did not originally have an opening in the schedule. Addison called me back to let me know they had a cancellation and could help us. She obviously kept us in mind and followed through for my dog. Once there, Rebecca and Dr. Ortiz were extremely professional and awesome. The level of caring and commitment are extremely evident throughout the practice. They took the time to completely exam Oreo and answer my questions. I felt they charged a fair and reasonable amount for the level of service they provided. I could not recommend them any higher. Thank you all for being there for us.

I am a new cat owner. I had an appointment for today. I was nervous because I know I was going to struggle getting my cat into it’s carrier. I called ahead thinking I could get some help. The girl who answered the phone was condescending and made it seem like it was strange that I needed guidance doing this for my FIRST time. She forwarded me to a “tech” who told me to grab the cat by it’s scruff and put it in. I asked her if that was safe being that I don’t want my eye scratched out and she said she couldn’t “guarantee it”. I asked for any other ideas and she had none. I don’t understand how an animal hospital lacks empathy when it comes to new pet owners and their pets. Frustrating. Additionally, I was scheduled for today and there was some error and my appointment was the day previous. Again, the lady on the phone was sarcastic and condescending. At this point, I have a scared cat under the bed, and empty carrier, and a new appointment scheduled 2 weeks later. Hopefully that’s the first and last time I need to go to the VCA Dunmore Animal Hospital.

My dog scratched his eye just being a dog but, he did it at the groomers so I was unsure of what exactly happened and was nervous he might have a corneal ulcer. I called at least 10 animal hospitals (including emergency) in the surrounding area and not one could get him in to be seen except for VCA Animal Hospital Dunmore. They had an appointment for us same day, were straightforward about pricing and exceptionally honest. Dr. Esopi even called me from the visit (I was waiting in my car because of COVID restrictions) to let me know that she had to muzzle my dog because he was being mouthy during his eye exam. She absolutely did not need to tell me this, I never would have known. She was honest enough to just call me and let me know exactly what was happening. From start to finish the staff was PHENOMENAL. We did not have a vet before today because we were new to the area but I’m very glad to have this practice for the future. Cooper is doing just fine now, his eye looks much better and he is relaxing at home. Thank you so much VCA Animal Hospital! Well done❤️
