We have 8 animals and will always bring them here. Despite one or 2 poor doctors the others are exquisite at what they do. Not only do they communicate with you about your animals needs, they take the time to be sure you understand them. Always helpful and great hours. Although we lost our baby in this picture, he did enjoy his time here.

I am a veterinary nurse that worked alongside Dr. Mike for almost 6 years. A couple years later, and no longer working for DAAH, I will always take my pets to Dr. Mike and so will my family (I still love ALL the doctors and staff there!) His thoroughness, compassionate and caring personality, & willingness to answer questions make him a truly special veterinarian. This week our family’s golden doodle Bentley became gravely ill and he was able to help us peacefully lay him to rest after caring for him for many years. Thank you Dr. Mike for your compassion and care for Bentley and my family this week. We are forever grateful.Love,Bentley, the Hawkins, Smith, and Farr families

My ferret Bandit had been sick for a good while. I had taken him to another vet and got no answers for his illness. I finally found this vet and I’m beyond glad that I did. The staff was beyond friendly and welcoming to me and my ferret. This is an amazing vet and I will be going here from now on.

Dover Area Animal Hospital has a professional staff that is friendly and helpful. We trust them with our pet's wellness. If you are thinking of transferring your pet like we did or just looking for a clinic in general, give DAAH a try. You won't be disappointed.

Dr. Amy saw my dog and was genuinely concerned. She recommended a treatment pathway that as of this writing is providing better results than I could have hoped for

I’ve been going here for years for vet care for my cats. I have a cat who has been seen over the past year frequently for ongoing upper respiratory issues and has been treated with various types of antibiotics, including more Covenia injections than I can count at $100 each. I wasn’t really happy that they couldn’t come up with a treatment plan that was working for her so I got a second opinion. The vet providing a second opinion placed my cat on a three-week course of doxycycline, which I’ve read is the first-line treatment for URI. I had to bring this up to the vet at Dover myself at which point they said, okay, I guess we can try that. The second opinion vet also discovered my cat has severe dental disease and requires full extraction of all of her teeth. She also discovered my cat has a bilateral ear infection. Nothing about my cat’s ears or teeth was brought up in the year she has been seen at Dover. Most months I was bringing her in about twice a month. I can’t believe all of this was overlooked and undiagnosed by Dover over the course of a year. I have now withdrawn all of my cats from Dover and will be taking them to the competent vet. Please read all of the 1-star reviews of this practice. They just care about taking your money and not really getting to the bottom of your pet’s illness. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT go to this practice!!! If anyone from the practice reads this, please do not contact me- I am DONE.

We absolutely love Dr. Rick Greenwalt! He takes absolutely great care of our dogs and cats every time. He is so personable and makes sure we completely understand what he is telling us. He makes sure to really take his time and listen, he always makes sure we leave with a plan. We feel extremely confident in the care that we get, and cannot recommend him more.We have seen a few of the other vets onsite as well, they have all been super kind and thorough. Would recommend all of them! The entire staff is wonderful, patient, and kind. We have yet to have a bad experience with anyone there (and we have some special needs animals so we go in often). We always feel like we get a fair price as well. Their online pharmacy has been wonderful too (monthly meds in the mail!!)The facility is gorgeous and clean. There is lots of parking and seating. We also have really enjoyed the little Photo Booth area that changes seasonally.Seriously, I cannot begin to tell you what a great experience we have had. Through annual exams, sick visits, and dental surgery, every single visit I leave with all of my questions and concerns answered with great care and patience.

They were great with my Teddy boy! It was his first appt to get his distemper and 1 year rabies shot. He is only about 12 weeks old. Everyone was so kind and informative. We sat on the far end of the waiting room, as Teddy is afraid of other animals. We had a receptionist walk all the way over just to greet him! :) Dr. Ruby was very kind and informative during our appointment. He even complimented Teddy on what a well-behaved puppy he was. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you.

DON’T bring your pet here. Our dog had gotten really sick a few weeks back, so we brought him in to Dover in hopes to find out what was wrong with him. He was profusely vomiting, not eating, and very lethargic. After the first visit they gave us some medicine to calm his stomach down and recommended we feed him a raw diet for the next week or so.After a couple of days our dog still wasn’t eating. We ended up bringing him back in for a second time, and they recommended taking x-rays and getting some blood work done. They were unable to find anything wrong with both of these tests. They recommended doing a barium solution to see if anything was blocking his stomach, but we decided to go get a second opinion from VetCheck Pet Urgent Care Center in York.Little did I know that this was the best decision we ended up making for our dog. After discussing our situation with VetCheck, they informed us that the barium solution method was VERY outdated, and somewhat inhumane considering they have to force liquid metal down your dogs throat. They recommended we get an ultrasound to rule out any blockages in his stomach. We brought him into VetCheck to have the ultrasound performed, and within 20 minutes they informed us that there was a blockage in our dogs stomach, and that he would need emergency surgery as soon as possible. We contemplated taking our dog to Dover to get the surgery done, but they weren’t able to get him in until the next morning. They had wanted him to stay overnight the evening before surgery- which in retrospect doesn’t make any sense considering he shouldn’t have needed to stay overnight if he hadn’t had the surgery yet. VetCheck was able to get us in for surgery the SAME DAY we had gotten our dogs ultrasound done. VetCheck saved our dogs life, and in all reality, had we gone with Dover, my dog would be dead right now. While you may pay a higher ‘visit fee’ to go to VetCheck, you’ll end up spending WAY more money overall going to Dover. My husband & I ended up spending almost $1,000 at Dover for those two visits, and had gotten little to no answers. We took our dog to VetCheck ONCE, and after $600 we were able to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with our dog.We wish we would’ve just taken him straight to VetCheck. All in all, Dover’s practices are outdated, and they don’t care about anything other than taking your money. We will not be returning to this vet, and I advise you look elsewhere if you truly care about your pet. You want a vet who actually cares about your pet- not just their paycheck.

I just had my pup in for her 1st check up. I was literally in & out of the room in less than 5 mins. I felt so rushed & that the vet David Pike was not caring in any way. I had to ask the assistant if my pup looked good as he didn’t say anything about it after the extremely quick check up. After leaving the office I remembered from a few yrs ago I had him & it was the same exact thing & had requested not to be seen by him again. I understand it’s a very busy hospital, but making the clients feel comfortable & that their pet is cared for is key!! There’s more than just making money in this field. I should add that the rest of the staff was very pleasant!

The facility is clean and the front desk staff were all friendly . I was there for over an hour and a half though (I did arrive 20 minutes early to fill out new client paperwork) for a suspected URI. I didn’t get taken back in to a room until 20+ minutes past the appointment time and there was no contagious protocol at any point… even when I scheduled the appointment . The receptionists didn’t even know what I had been coming in for . When the Vet came in he only listened to her chest/heart and palpated her belly. There was no formal check in - meaning no one at any point asked about what kind of food she was / how much/ how often. No question about any preventatives or medications rx/otc. Basic lifestyle questions … I basically spelled out everything - e/d normally no s/c/v/d . No lethargy etc . Brought up my concern for her weight (she’s definitely overweight) since I’m feeding x amount as suggested etc , and the vet suggested I switch her to adult food… at 5 months old. Explained in detail her symptoms but felt like I wasn’t being taken seriously . Or really listened to for that matter. No question of the type of litter (maybe dust is irritating) does anyone smoke in the house .. burn candles.. etc . I had a concern for eat mites , yet the vet didn’t even look at or in her ears . I was concerned that she may have some type of parasite / worm due to her potbelly and previous records which .. I truthfully don’t even think anyone ever looked at … other than myself since she had a hx of URI and tapeworms before leaving the shelter. I relayed that I brought a stool sample - he had no idea.. no one asked time of collection where and how it was stored .. these things are important to notate when sending things to an outside lab to be tested. I had heard so many good things about this vet … but honestly , I have no intention of going back there, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there based on my experience. I’ve been in vet med for the last ten years . I was incredibly disappointed .

We attended a lavish New Years Eve party and stayed the night in a suite. It was all very nice. The food was amazing and the dancing was such fun. We will definitely go next year, Lord willing!

Dr. Todd Rubey needs his license revoked! He has been the cause of death for countless dogs who were brought to him for help. There are so many horror stories being revealed about him and his carelessness with beloved pets. Please do not take your animals to him, he does NOT care about their well-being.

If i could give ZERO stars I would. Dr Mike Burrell was brought a fearful patient for an exam today due to diarrhea from a recalled dog food. (Salmonella). Not only did he not know how to pronounce Bernese Mountain Dog (it is NOT BURMESE), he had no idea how to approach or handle a fearful animal. This female was a puppy mill rescue. He came right toward her instead of trying to establish a relationship with her. He made us put her on the table instead of treating her on the floor. He was condescending to the foster who knows her animal. She said it was almost like he didnt know how to be a vet. Be extremely careful if your animal has any anxiety on visiting the vet clinic. He is not your veterinarian of choice.

Wow, being a former tech and working with numerous vets, Dr. Mike B is very compassionate. He's our doc all the way. Dover AH is very fortunate to have him. Thank u for caring for our beloved Boo and recently Willow. The techs are wonderful too. Special shout out to Katie!

My girlfriend and I took our puppy here to get neutered and dewclaw removal. The legs were bandaged after the procedure and told us to take them off after 2 days. Well from the first night getting him home he was obviously uncomfortable with one particular leg and we tried to keep him from licking it as much as possible but the leg kept getting redder and more swollen. So today when they opened we called and they were able to get him in to look at it. The “doctor” looked at the leg and essentially said “oh whoops, it’s wrapped too tight”. Also stated first that it “wasn’t fully infected” then later on mentioned “oh yeah it’s definitely infected” and gave some antibiotics. Basically trying to downplay everything that was obviously done incorrectly.

Brought my dog here, I’ve been very happy with the care we have Received it’s very simple to make an appointment and the staff is very friendly. My dog Emma’s wags her tail walking in the door. Pricing isn’t bad definitely better cost then our last vet. Very easy to get to, highly recommend this vet to any loving pet owners.

While this office has an affordable price point, the service we were provided was impersonal, rushed, dismissive, and not informative. We brought our family dog in as she was struggling to walk, to breathe, wasn’t eating, etc. The vet came in 25 minutes later than our scheduled time and proceeded to ask about 4 questions before giving her an x-ray. After the x-ray, the vet told one family member that our dog had congestive heart failure. The vet barely explained what the condition was and I had to try and ask questions while crying to figure out what next steps to take for my dog. The vet came back to the room with our family, again said our dog is in heart failure, and failed to explain anything about the condition to us. He did not explain the purpose of the medications our dog would be put on, how to administer them, etc. The veterinarian also did not ask if our dog was taking other medications (she is) to address if there would be any drug interactions. He spent a maximum of 5 minutes with myself and my family explaining the diagnosis of heart failure to us before leaving.A vet tech came in to wrap up the appointment and tell us to go collect our medications. This vet tech was unable to tell us what medications our dog would be put on or what the purpose of the medications were. This was truly an awful experience. We left this appointment not knowing what heart failure meant for our dog, what the condition is, how it will impact her quality of life, etc. Being told our dog was in heart failure was scary, it was upsetting, and put myself and family into a bit of a shock. I just can’t even fathom how this particular veterinarian in good faith let a family and patient leave the office without providing proper information. Instead of leaving this appointment feeling informed about how to take care of my pet who was diagnosed with heart failure, I had to go home and spend hours researching answers to questions that we expected and trusted this veterinarian to provide us with.

Had a choice of same-day or next-day appointments.😳 Our vet was Dr. Dan and we are keeping him!🙂 Miss Kitty needed x-rays and wasn't skittish when she was brought back to us.🤩 Dr. Dan took us back to show us the X-rays & explained the findings. The first vet to ever do that.✅️ We were given treatment options and the cost involved.✅️ They didn't push for additional items, simply concerning themselves with her immediate condition.✅️✅️ Support staff- front and back offices- were very kind, friendly, and helpful.✅️ Miss Kitty required an injection, pills, liquid medication, and X-rays, and our bill was under $400.😃 Her condition will require ongoing monitoring, so we are happy to have found DAAH and Dr. Dan. BTW, after doing a Google search for veterinarians in my area, I chose this particular vet hospital from the high # of ⭐️'s and positive reviews. As a bonus, unbeknownst to me, a friend of mine later told me that she uses this animal hospital for all 3 of her dogs. I highly recommend Dover Area Animal Hospital. The facility is clean and well-maintained. There is ample parking, handicapped ♿️ access, separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, easy-to-get appointments, and knowledgeable clinicians.

This was an old world experience to me. These people were really caring for my mom's dog and took time to treat every animal with care. The doctor was very informative and the staff seemed to work well. I wish we had this place in Maryland.

Fantastic Vets here. We’ve been going here for 15+ years. They are quick and always helpful. The grooming seems to be booked all the time and I have not been able to get in. I would not recommend that part of the business.
