Absolutely horrendous place for an animal to be with continued reports of animal abuse and neglect- research the name and you will see the news has been involved often over the years and has acted as a voice for the citizens who have been demanding a change to another animal control officer.  I would like to understand why he continues to be contracted when there are alternate options who have shown to provide better care and adoption policies in the communities he has a contract with currently.Concerns:* Residents have reported them for putting down healthy animals before the 48-hour time period.* Residents have reported that when they do manage to retrieve their animals they are often returned in poor physical health, including sores on their bodies.* The facility is not kept clean and the smell of urine can be smelled from the lobby.* They have no website or active facebook page to share what animals they have.* They state nowhere what townships they serve, so residents would not know to look there unless someone told them.* They do nothing to publicly promote animals that are available for adoption.* Despite animals only having 48 hours to be claimed by owners they do not answer their phone. They state clearly on their answering machine that you must leave a message and wait to be called back, which can take up to 24 hours.* Residents are not permitted to stop in even during their stated business hours without a prior appointment by calling and leaving a message.* They are not open to the public on weekends when many animals get picked up. Leaving residents unable to get a response for sometimes 3 days or more.

after reading all these comments and just the overall rating of the place, countless news articles, petitions, facebook posts, and everyone’s general knowledge of how cruel this place is, im in completely shock that this place is still in operation, some of these comments and post go back 12 years. Hoffmanns makes it hard for people to get there lost dogs back, and take dogs from family’s who really do care about the wellbeing of there animals. they are known to put down pets before they even hold them for the standard 48hrs, and if a pet isn’t put down ,the lack of care, and abuse and trauma they put these dog through is unbelievable, please shut this place down so they can stop killing peoples pets!!! this is insane!!!

So I have a fenced in yard a lead with a harness for my dog an I got unlawfully containment because my dog ecaped while I was at work. Nicest dog you could ever come in contact with, called this company now probably 4 to 5 time including today at 9.40 couldn't contact anyone to find out what I had to do to not take it to court now today got my court papers I guess everyone needs work.

I would give this kennel less than 1 star if I could. First we’ll start with how unprofessional both the husband and wife are. I’ve never met anyone more miserable than these two. They have 0 personality and they are beyond rude to those who are trying to adopt a dog. The didn’t even have you fill out an application or even check to see if the home would be a good fit, which is scary because some people are incapable of taking care of dogs. Second, there was no food or water in any bowls inside the kennels. Dogs were petrified and so scared. They don’t do this for the right reasons and only do it for the money. These poor dogs deserve better, this place should honestly be shut down. On top of all of that there’s not even a single blanket in any of the kennels. Such a shame that people like this are in this business. Keep any stray dog away from this kennel.

If I honestly worse place EVER. I got my dogs back n they stink so bad it’s disgusting, my one dog looks like he got attacked. N the other one is completely traumatized. They NEED shut down immediately for how disgusting they treat the dogs. And to make it worse most the dogs they have there is all pit bulls and bulldogs they kill any dog that’s been there for longer than 48hrs not even getting them the chance to either find their owner or to get a good home.

Unsure how someone who is supposed to be helping dogs and owners can be so cruel. They pick up dogs, don't let anyone see them to see if they are theirs, then kills them within 48 hours. Time for a change for Fayette County and the surrounding area.

The worst people I have ever met. They picked up my sister's dog on Saturday and the man on the truck said they would be released to her on Monday. Monday comes and they are now claiming that the dog bit someone and they have to keep him for 10 days. However, they refuse to give any contact information about the women who got bit or show any proof. We called the state police who have no record of a report ever being done and they told us they have to release a name. Simple explanation: this is there way of making a few extra bucks. The worst part is she is a mother to 4 puppies which they were told. This place needs shut down now!!!!

3 weeks ago my elderly dog (14 yo) who has dementia took an unfortunate stroll to the other side of the neighborhood and my very “friendly” neighbor called animal control. Being Friday evening, I called frantically to everyone trying to find him. Finally the next morning someone from a shelter told me to call there and call fast because they put animals down after 48hrs. Horrified, I ran out there only to be told that they did have my dog but they were closed and to come back Monday. They wouldn’t even let me see him.Monday I went back to get him. The stench was awful. He has never smelled that bad, I needed to pull over three times on the way home from gagging. Furthermore he developed kennel cough in the coming days although being vaccinated from it. Our poor pup actually died 3 days ago. Now he had been declining the past 8-12 weeks but he had such a rapid decline since coming home from Hoffman’s, something happened. He caught something. I know it in my heart. We as a community can do better than this. Animal control is a vital service but not this, this is inhumane.

So I guess instead of humanely capturing dogs and giving their owners a chance to claim them, Hoffman Kennels' officers in the Uniontown area are now in the business of euthanizing people's pets ON THE SPOT with an overdose of tranquilizer for the crime of going ONE YARD OVER. I refuse to believe this is your protocol. If it is, you should all be charged with felony animal cruelty charges and forced to pay restitution to the people whose "property" was "destroyed". Anyone affiliated with you should be shamed of that officer's conduct, especially since the neighbors were apparently outside and trying to explain that they knew the dog. That is piss poor. Even though they are property to you and pawns for the money and power you achieve through your contracts with local governments, REAL animal lovers know they are downright FAMILY and you have caused one family a great deal of sorrow and pain that they will never forget. Please shutter your offices and transfer your outstanding business activities to an agency that will actually take these matters seriously. I hope legal action is taken against you so that your families suffer in the same vein of angst that you've put countless other people through. I hope it made your officer feel like a big, powerful, tough guy as he shot down a 20 pound docile, loving beagle that was doing nothing wrong. Try picking on something your own size, and species, you bag of scrotal putrefaction. Absolutely disgusting. I wish all of your loved ones continued misery. Good day.

We had a stray show up on our front porch on 12/18/18. Called Wilkins Township police, and they told us that they use Hoffman, and that animal control would be there to handle it.Hours later, no one showed up. The police put in a second call. No one showed up once again. I then attempted to call myself, and received an answering machine.I was sitting outside with the dog for hours, and I have security cameras, so I know for certain that they never came. Good to know that my tax dollars are going to a bunch of incompetents. Telling by the other reviews though, I shouldn't be surprised. Look literally anywhere else for your animal control needs.

After all the reviews I have read, I was extremely nervous when my dog got out and wasn't home after 36 hours, so I made the call to Hoffman leaving a detailed message- within an hour I received a call back saying they picked him up the previous morning. The man on the phone was very kind and polite- reassuring me my dog was ok, that he went to someones yard and they had tied him out, he even commented on what a good dog he is and that he's a big friendly guy. He offered to stick around if I was coming right away so that I could get my dog "home where he belongs". He was very thorough with telling me what I needed to bring and even went as far as telling me how to get a license if I didn't have one, which I did. When I got there a girl let me in, reviewed my license, collected the fee and had me sign for taking him out. I had asked if she could tell me where he was picked up, she checked their call record and gave the block and street. I then got my dog and headed home. I thankfully had a great experience with Hoffman's and thank them for taking care of my baby!

Terrible terrible place. He avoids your calls and letters when your trying to pick up your animal, law says he only has to keep them for 48hrs. So when you call for your baby, he ignores you. Accidents do happen! And dogs do not need to be killed because you don't feel the owner "deserves" there animal back because again of an accident. I'm sickened by what this man does. He could not open kennel doors when he lives right next door to it! Absolutely foul minded man right here. He purposely does this!

I just recently found a husky and they sent it to the Hoffman kennels. .I was pretty worried based on all the reviews...i talked with them on the phone a few times..they did answer...i drove out to the place to see for myself...They are closed on Saturday but I got to meet me Hoffman ..the owner..after talking to him for over an hour...i was more than reassured that the dog was safe and being treated humanely...after hearing some of the reviews...you would think that once the dog arrives...that they can't wait to kill it..this is not true...seriously ...do you think that his place would still be open if he did this...Mr. Hoffman has 9 dogs of his own...he puts them in shows and his place looks well maintained...maybe people don't like him because he is kinda old school and tells it like it is..but I like those kinda people...they aren't fake...yes he has killed dogs before...some were court ordered because they were dangerous...and others I am sure were the ones whom no other shelter took from him or no one adopted...so they were put to sleep...that is what happens..thats life...i love animals but I understand that is the process...if you don't like it...then you adopt every animal that they are going to kill...you house them ...feed them...pay for their medical bills...if I was rich...i would do this...but this is reality...we can't do that...so before you make a comment about someone...get the facts ......and if they are doing something illegal. .then contact proper authorities...and they will shut them down...so obviously they are following the laws...or the municipalities wouldn't be hiring them...

My friend's dog ran away from home. The neighbor called Hoffman's for no reason. Her mom made an appointment to see if Rollo (black lab with red collar) was there, but Mrs. Hoffman stopped her in the parking lot and wouldn't even let her in for her appointment! Hoffman's is an aweful place. Rumors say that they kill dogs, throw them in fires/trash cans, or sell them on eBay for money. Hoffman's doesn't care about your dog, all they want is cash. If they are seriously that shallow.. They have to kill a harmless animal for money.. You might as well work at McDonald's and get the same amount of money. Like seriously.. How do you have the nerve to kill a loving animal? You make me sick.. STOP HOFFMAN'S KENNEL!! A one star is me being generous..

My dog got loose he is home and safe but he was taken there by the person who found him. Once I found out he was there we rushed right over and knocked on the door. A man came out and was clearly drunk. We told him he has our dog and we have been looking for him for the past two hours. The man didn't remember if he had my dog. I called the person that gave him to hoffman kennel and then the man seemed to remember he does have my dog. He let's me in to take a look in the kennels as soon as he opens the door you can see the concrete floor is covered in urine and the smell was terrible my dog was soaked from laying on the urine soaked floor and to top it off he didn't have water. My dog was lost and found all in the same day. The kennel was closed for the day and my dog was running in hot humid weather before he ended up there so I could only imagine if I didnt get him that day since he had no water and you could see he needed it. All the other dogs that were in that kennel were laying on that urine covered concrete floor without water. It was so sad this man needs shut down you could tell he lacked compassion for these lost animals and Hoffman kennel is known throughout the community as a terrible place and yet he is still in business do not take any lost pets here

I was so apprehensive about Hoffman Animal Control, after reading the reviews on the net. I knew that they had my dog, who wandered away from home, over a three day holiday and I was so worried that he would be put down. I waited for the return call and I was very nervous. However, Mrs. Hoffman could not have been nicer. My dog was in fine shape when I picked him up. It eased my mind to know that he was safe and indoors, as opposed to roaming around, lost. I appreciate that they kept him safe, until I picked him up.I think being in Animal Control must be a difficult job - I appreciate the job that they do.

Quality & Professional Law Enforcement of Animal Control. Don’t deal with neighbors & Violations on your own, let them handle it. Don’t listen to all the bad feedback from People that are breaking the law.Make violators personally responsible for their Animals. Highly recommended!

Read all the negative reviews but can't complain at all:1. They gave me a courtesy call letting me know where they saw my dogs but didn't get them2. Inspired by the bad reviews I went there without appointment after office to check in person and they were still kind enough to show me all the dogs they had.3. A few weeks before they found my dogs and I got them back

Very rude customer service. I asked about the well being on a dog we found this past Sunday and that we wanted to come visit and potentially adopt him. She immediately caught an attitude and hung up on me. We will be for sure going to check on the dog we found because it they treat people this way imagine how they treat the animals.

They are cruel and inhumane. The don't give pitbulls a chance. I called about my two pitbulls that were stolen from me and taken there, but the killed them less than 20 days of having them. When I called they were already gone and the female was pregnant!! The need charges against them!

First of all, you don't "take your dogs" there to the one mental giant that made a comment, two, if you lose your dogs, it is YOUR responsiblity to keep a watch on them and find them before the dog catcher does. OMG. But lastly I want to thank Mr Hoffman, and give him credit for all of his hard work. Thank you for all of your help and cooperation with rescues and for the chance to save a dog that otherwise wouldn't have had a chance. i have never been there. but being is the dog cather for westemoreland co.my 2 dog got away from me, i call there atleast 3 times a day and left a voice mailever time for 2 weeks and he would never call me back.thank god. i found my dogs myself. and i didnt even get paid for it..
