The campground is really nice. The spots are spaced out so you aren't really close to your neighbor. I will say the bathrooms need a makeover really bad! There are some great hiking/bike trails. We will definitely stay there again.Playground: Playground is nice. Our daughter enjoyed it.Restrooms: The restrooms are pretty gross. Luckily there are sites with full hookups.

Absolutely gorgeous area! The Indian cabins were perfect for our family. We stayed in cabin #10 which had heat, a fridge, stove, 2 sets of bunk beds, table with benches, outdoor picnic table, and a firepit with cooking grate. The bathrooms were righy by the cabins and were super clean and had nice showers inside. Enjoyed hiking the immediate trails inside the park and drove to the Beartown Trail to see the giant boulders and amazing scenic view. Also enjoyed visiting the Haunted Barn! Busier park than I expected but everyone was super friendly and respectful of the cabin area. Will definitely return!

Fish the Clarion River or just hang out. 66 miles of trails to hike.A long meandering road that follows the creek allows you to find your own special fishing spot. For events at this park visit: events dcnr paFor more information: pa parks and forests(diamond)

The area and river are beautiful, but overall the experience was very poor. The officers in the area are out to give everyone they can a bad day, watching / entrapping people with binoculars around every corner. I remember when going to the river was a relaxing calm experience, but those days are over. All you here people talking about at every gas station, float rental, and ice cream shop is how the officers are trying to fine every person they can and have people stopped all over taking away what might have been a nice day with the family and friends. Very disappointed that there aren’t better ways to put our tax dollars to work… and if the goal is to keep the area clean and to have more decency in and around the river, I can sadly guarantee that this does the opposite.

One of my favorite places in the world. Been going there for years. Awesome trails. Lots to do - hiking, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, camping (tent, RV, cabin), exploring, ice cream, small shops. but the FOREST itself is the main attraction. I really like going in the off-season. No people. Just you and the forest.

Me and my Girl Scout troop went for a over night stay. We loved it all though it was to cold for kayaking we still did almost everything we could have done. The fire tower was awesome just a little tall for me personally. But the hiking trails and look outs were spot on. We went to the fun park we quite the mini golf at hole number 10 it would have took us all day. The bummer boats were my favorite. The wifi wasn't working and I live off my phone so that was a little bit upsetting. The hot tub was awesome we were in there late at night relaxing. I would recommend this place to people if they wanted a day get away or a overnight stay but I won't go any longer than that. But they keep really clean. Thank you again for that. My family will definitely be back in the future!!

The park itself is sincerely beautiful and if you love hiking, it's perfect! This review is for the Ridge Campground. The reason I gave it a 2 star rating is because of our site and the organization of the park. On the park map, it shows spot 8 as being on the entrance road and facing the woods. What they don't say is that the road is non stop traffic from 6am to 11pm! Not to mention the site is also very close to the highway with semi's using their Jake brake all the way down the hill! Plus our spot is right by a speed bump that people slow for and then gun it as they go by. We are thinking of leaving before the weekend even though we already paid, because the noise and lights from traffic will be too much. There should be no spots along the entry road. The electric boxes should be taken and put in some of the big, quiet spots past the gate house! We took a walk and it was so peaceful past the gate house. If the "honor" system wasn't used, you could probably afford a high school student to run the gate house so that people could pay and get some good quality information. Never saw a camp host once. I would recommend this park as it is beautiful but I would not recommend any of the sites along the entry road!

Cook Forest is a beautiful park! We really enjoyed tubing down the Clarion river! We saw turkey, deer, and even some fawns with spots. The trails are also beautiful! I would highly recommend visiting.

Surprised! Full amenities (water/power/sewer) sites for us trailer people. Nice and quiet... Tho sites are pretty open / not too private. Everyone was very friendly during our visit. Nearby hikes were nice.... Cathedral trees were outstanding. Not much wildlife to see, but forest is sensational.Oh yeah... We had a bit of a hard time navigating since there are a lot of other campgrounds around. The office is near the bridge which runs over the river at the bottom of the hill. Actual Campground is not well signed, so go there first if possible (they close at 4pm)

This is a great place to take a family or for a couple to get into the wilderness. If you are looking for a lot of commercial places to eat and take children you will be a little disappointed, it's not that that kind of place... I mean, you are camping. This is about as big country as PA gets and the old growth forests are something to behold, although don't trust your phones GPS to get you anywhere, because if you get service it is spotty, and the GPS is unreliable, so do your research before you go, unless you want to find yourself doing U turns on private property miles away from what you are looking for, just a suggestion.

Had a great time at cook Forest. It was a long 4.5 hour drive, but what a beautiful and fun area. Lots to do and no one will be bored here. Bathrooms were decent, sites were nice at the Ridge Campground. But the other campers were so incredibly rude. Walking thru sites. Being asked not to, but still doing it. Loud music until 2 in the morning. That was the only bad part of our stay.

Indian Cabin #11 Cook Forest rustic cabins. I have stayed at a-lot of Pa State Park cabins. These beds are by far the worst thing I have ever tried to sleep in. If they would just upgrade the beds it would greatly increase my rating. The stoves were rusty in both cabins we had but it didnt effect it working. Nice park, bathrooms were clean. Good hot water & pressure.

My husband and I LOVE tent camping at the state park campground! My husband’s family has been going there at least 75 years, starting with his grandparents. This park is beautiful and there is so much to do there. We’re never bored. We don’t get to go as often as we’d like, but we’ll definitely go again!

We love Cook Forest State Park and visit several times a year, all seasons, driving 5 hours round-trip. Unfortunately some visitors seem to think the park belongs solely to them, like the folks sprawled on the rocks at Seneca Point on our last visit. They blocked one of the best views and showed no inclination to move. Folks, it's a state park, not your private property. Please share the beauty.

Will NEVER try to go here again. Paid for a cabin, there were no instructions for if you showed up in the evening when they close their office, didn't have instructions on how to get to the office itself, locked the bathroom areas, no one would answer their phones. Had to drive back to town and figure out somewhere else to stay. Even the other people staying there had no clue how to get into the place without the park office worker's help. Then when we got ahold of them the next day for a rebate they claimed there was some bulletin board in the area that had written instructions for how to get in (sure would have been nice if that info was included in the email when we bought the place). I would say DO NOT waste your money here, absolutely horrible people run this state park.

Had a wonderful mini vacation with my sweetheart!--our first trip to cook forest and definitely not the last! We stayed in the Cook Forest State Park cabins--very nice and clean. I would recommend not going on a holiday and before Labor Day weekend so more things are open. SHOUT OUT TO COOK FOREST FUN PARK FOR BEING OPEN! -- had a wonderful time mini golfing and go carting! :) see you next year

Stayed in the Park Campground week of October 8th. Late summer it was @80° but that made for excellent hiking thru Old Growth Forest which our campsite was in the middle ofWe were in a camper so had everything we needed. The Campground itself was very clean and well maintained. So peaceful and we highly recommend as a hiking destination.

Had an amazing time at everything but the cathedral of trees. I have bigger trees in the back yard of my cabin 6 miles away. Even the nice southern people we passed were upset. Let’s do some measurements before we broadcast the “biggest” trees this side of the Rockies.

Awesome place, a little rough on adult beverages in the state park this year while others are setting off fireworks, you know, IN A NATIONALLY PROTECTED FOREST! So be sure to empty all your containers immediately before entering the park but bring mortar style fireworks from Ohio and set them off into a forest of Pine Trees. I love it here, just don't understand the reasoning.

Cook for State Park had so many things for us to see and do. We went to the firetower and climbed up to the top o take the most beautiful scenery pictures from on top of the trees. While we were walking along the trails in the mountains we are able to take pictures of the rocks and nature was just beautiful. Also there was a Fun Park where we you went go karting, they also had miniature golf, bumper boats , a small food , and a souvenir shop. The staff there are very nice. All the people we met in Cook Forest State Park were beautiful people such friendly and family like.
