Good shelter. We adopted a kitten and he has been a great addition to the family. When we made an appointment to visit him we noticed he was limping. The staff hadn't noticed so they asked to hold off on the adoption so he could get looked at by a vet. I appreciated the level of care given. My only issue is they close at 5pm which is difficult to schedule if you work regular hours.

I would never ever work with these people !!!!! I lost my dog it took days to try and get my dog back first they needed this and that and when I went in there was a fat lady in the back waved her hands and the air and eye rolled what great customer service 👍 then you change the dogs name how do you think the dogs going to come to the new name ??? Btw your place stinks I couldn’t stand being in there for 5 minutes. Volunteers attitude suck !!! I do not recommend this place to anyone

If i could get negative review i would. This place is an absolute joke and the community would probably benefit more if it was shut down.Unless you know someone in there to where your a favorite you might as well not even try for an animal. If you do get the chance to adopt, hopefully you know what your getting into fully for the dog because they do not go about it the correct way in finding a forever home for these animals.Heaven forbid you advocate for any of the pets as well. They dont like being told they are wrong and will immediately block you even though you know more about the animal than they do.ABSOLUTE disaster of a business and absolutely do not care about any animals they get. Also the adoption application....what a joke! "What trait do you find unacceptable in an animal?" Are you kidding me? There is no "unacceptable" behavior if you PROPERLY look into the animals breed and what your needs are in an pet. The SPCA is UnAcCePtAbLe.Also why are you putting animals down without reporting of rabies cases?"Lets feed them and bath them thats good enough for us but im gonna judge you when you try for the animal"

For some reason it just doesn't seem like a happy place. Perhaps the employees are burnedout from taking care of them. However I have had some good experiences with the staff.

We set up an activity for our girl scout troop. The girls made cat scratchers from their empty cookie boxes. The girls got to spend time with the cats and dogs. The staff is very knowledgeable and help guide pet owners in better choices for them and their animals. We always enjoy our visit to the SPCA.

If you own intact dogs for whatever hobby/sports that you do then you will not be allowed to adopt a dog from them. Also, they don't bother posting relevant information in their adoptables' profiles for some reason. I get that they don't want to post things that make the dog look bad or whatever. But it's better to know that upfront instead of wasting the potential adopters' time.

This place is amazing and those who say it isn't need to take some time to think! Have you tried calling other shelters? No ! Because if you did you would know that no one else will take in stray animals or animals that people no longer want. They all have waiting list a mile long. What is someone to do with a stray dog or cat ? To my knowledge this is the only shelter in our county that has a humane officer but everyone wants to shut this place down...then what ? Who is going to go after people Iike that worthless human who left porcupine quills in his dogs face for a month? No one wants to take the time to think about all the good they do. Yes they have to make difficult decisions to euthanize animals but I'm sure it haunts them every day. There are too many animals that need homes and not enough homes so yes sometimes what they do is very necessary. They obviously love animals their animals are well cared for. Go ahead keep blasting them on social media just remember that the more you bash them the less donations they receive and that harms the animals no one else. If they were to get shut down where would the dogs go that are running loose in this freezing weather? They are people with families like everyone else. I hope they have a very Merry Christmas . I noticed they are closed for a couple of days and that is wonderful. They need some much needed time off from all the negative and hateful things people say.

We stopped in the shelter to donate a bag of cat food as we recently had to change our cats diet. I was really impressed with their cat room. They have ramps around the ceiling, comfy condos, and a cat wheel. When we went in, it was playtime for the kittens and they were running around, having a blast. LOTS of sweet kitties waiting to find good homes. There also appears to be a screened in porch area for them to get fresh air as well. The kennel area for the dogs is also nice. The dogs have 2 sided runs so they can be moved easily for messes. And no chain link which allows you to see the dogs better and keep them out of trouble too. When we visited there were some hound and lab friends, as well as some smaller dogs, an energetic aussie and a super friendly puppy.

So thankful for the work that the SPCA does! However, they treat everyone like they are irresponsible pet owners! My kitten, in her first heat, got outside for the first time and got pregnant. She had three kittens. I kept one but that made us have 3 cats. I tried for 6 weeks to give the two little boys a home but no one was interested. I didn’t have a choice but to take them to the spca. I made an appointment, got there, a rude lady came out grabbed the crate, took them and brought the crate back. Never said a word. I asked they lady behind the counter if we were aloud to say goodbye to them, I was told “No! They are in quarantine!” Seriously!? They could have said “would you like to see them before we take them back?” For real! My daughter and I both left there crying. Even seeing us upset… nothing. Just “would you like to make a donation” which I had already done as soon as we got there! Maybe a little more compassion for the pet owners who have no other choice!

If I could give zero I would. I was greated by a rude lady with long dark hair. I had taken 3 strays in believe me if I would of known how evil this place is I would of left them where they were. They were all really nice cats and pretty. The lady had asked me for a donation I had no cash so I had went and spent over 80 dollars on food and litter and brought it back figured it would help out with their room and board and would of continued to donate more threw out the time. Then I find out that they were put to sleep right away. I'm glad that I helped the other animals out but sickened by their actions. I will never donate to a place like this again. They even get funding for the animals also and act like they don't get anything but what the community donates and takes in. I hope there is a special place for who picks who lives and dies here....

Sadly when a animals is taken in as a stray instead of them keeping for adoption or giving them a chance they put them down in 2 days. Some people's animals go missing for a couple days and come back. Before you really notice them missing this wonderful caring place has them dead. This is the worse shelter I've ever seen. They want everyone's donations but yet kill the animals they bring in within 2 days. Someone recently noticed their cat missing and their neighbor told them they took it there mind you they called 3 days later they were lied to and were told they never had that cat when in fact they did they already put it down in just that little bit of time. So if your animal is missing and took to them they'll put it down and straight face lie to someone saying their cats not there because they already choose to put it down then people will continue to search for their animal when in fact they know they had it. I hope the one who decides their fate is proud of themselves with the kind of person she is hope karma gets her.

I went Saturday afternoon to check out their dogs. I fell in love with one. We did the meet and greet the same day. I filled out the application and they told me to call Tuesday because it takes 48 hours for them to know the result from the adoption committee. Monday morning, I was at the store buying some stuff to donate to them when they called. Good boy is mine. I finished my shopping and headed straight to the SPCA. They were nice and helpful. Skippy is one of the sweetest and the most gentle good boy I've ever had. Thank you, SPCA.

Staff was friendly enough however I was told that the cat I adopted had all it’s shots & all it’s tests. I was given a vet report to take home with me but I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. I took this to my vet & it turned out the cat I adopted had nothing but 1 rabies shot & deworming. Nothing else! I ended up spending $200 at the vet on tests. & vaccinations my new cat needed. I would not recommend adopting from this organization.

I am currently seeking help to get my pet returned from these horrible judgemental people that upset me so bad yesterday that I had to seek medical treatment these people need to stop treating people that truly live their pets like a common criminal bcuz they clearly don’t know everyone or anything about any situation and I know I’m not the first especially when the circumstances came from an emergency situation that ended up in another emergency situation that caused my dog whom I have lived for 5 years to be picked up by these awful people and they treated me horribly when I called to have my pet returned and I must add for all the judges out there none of this was at any way my fault my elderly family member needed help my pet was with a friend that ended up needing emergency care as well and I was treated beyond horrible and I clearly take very good care of my furbaby he has been with me for 5 years and they have never seen the whites of his eyes so currently waiting on return call from attorney bcuz I refuse to have a repeat of the ugly I dealt with yesterday judgemental know it all should find a different place to work bcuz life happens and people can’t control everything around them however nothing will ever change my love for my baby period and I want to place a suit against this awful place for causing me to be in need of medical treatment after being badgered so badly yesterday for zero reasons I refuse to be treated like I have done something wrong when they only thing I was guilty of was helping an elderly family me never get medical treatment after having an unexpected heart attack #keepyouruglytoyourself #donteverjudgemeagainyourclueless

If I could give zero stars I would. This “shelter” plans to “euthanize” a dog that has been under their “care” since November. Layla is a scared dog that has a another shelter willing to take her so they can help her live a happy life. This shelter has a capable team of behavior and medical volunteers ably to rehabilitate this sweet dog. This SPCA has said no and plans to euthanize her on Monday, February 14th. Please stop supporting this shelter as they have no compassion for animals lives.

No rating,On Monday I surrendered a young cat that I had worked with because it was unable to get along with my cat. She was wonderful with my little dog, grandson and family. I offered to help but when I called the next day they said she was hissy. I emailed I had more help if they couldn't succeed. I called today and found out they put her down the day I called. Never called me and even though staff assured me it would take time. The director, Pamela Smith, said she was afraid she would bite a staff member. She was able to reach in to sedate her and then kill her. I am devastated. High kill rate..... I had checked with no kill shelters but they have long waiting lists. I wouldn't have taken her there if they hadn't told me that they would work with her. We keep donating I wonder if Pamela Smith is a qualified animal behavior specialist but daily she decides what dies. Don't get old and ill staff because what you do will come back to you.....

id give 0 stars if I could. they won't let you in to see animals before adopting, even if you had an appointment. incredibly rude staff with no helpful recommendations. I had been in contact with them before coming down and they had said nothing about not being allowed to interact with the animals before adoption. they won't adopt out ESA's, giving no reason and not listening to what an esa actually is (because they clearly think its a service animal, and said they only do family pets...so no one who lives alone or hasn't any kids?) over all awful people who don't know anything about adoption and the process of adopting a pet that is good for a family

So thankful for the spay and neuter clinic they have every so often. They do a wonderful thing so inexpensively. Love their cat area. So relaxed. Some cats able to move about freely. Very nice!

This shelter is an asset to our community. I've adopted several pets here. Besides being clean and the animals being well cared for, they provide services to our community like low cost cat spay and neuter clinics to help the community get control of the cat overpopulation problem. We are fortunate to have a shelter of this caliber in our little community.

I adopted a cat from CC SPCA. I saw him on Petfinder, and drove 2 hours to see him, and ended up adopting him. I found no bad attitudes with any of the employees, and in fact was treated very well. The shelter was clean; there is a lovely community cat room, and I saw many dogs being taken for walks. The animals are well taken care of. Before you judge the shelter, based on other bad reviews regarding employees personalities, remember- it's about the animals, about finding them good, forever homes. I hope that no one is swayed not to adopt from Clearfield County SPCA based on someone's gripe.

Went to adopt a kitten. They said my kids were animals cause of how excited they were. Let us fill out an application even though they intended to deny us which they did.

Tried to volunteer but they told me I wasn't allowed and to go somewhere else. They never told me the reason for not allowing me to volunteer. They were extremely rude and unapproachable. I am 21, own a pet care business, and I work at a local vet clinic. There is no reason to deny me as a volunteer. I have heard horror stories about how the staff treat the animals in the shelter. The Clearfield SPCA offers no help to the animals or people in the local community.

This "shelter's" motto is "Giving Animals a Better Tomorrow," which is a blatant and cruel lie. The Clearfield County SPCA has scheduled an innocent dog, Layla, for euthanasia despite a partnering shelter's willingness to take Layla in and provide and pay for all her care. Layla has no bite history and no aggression. In addition to their flippant euthanasia policies, the Clearfield County SPCA is filthy: dogs sleep, eat, and drink amongst their own feces and urine, and there is no consistent schedule for the dogs to be walked or even let outside. The animals are trapped in kennels without sunlight, fresh air, or a clean environment, and some aren't walked for weeks at a time. This organization is a prison for animals, not a rehabilitation center. It's certainly not fit to be called a shelter.
