It is absolutely awful going inside this store. There are so many animals per enclosure. The birds and rodents are open for people to touch and I saw a young boy lift a tube with hamsters in it and dump it out! The employees do not do anything to try to fix these issues. The animals were so obviously stressed and anxious with having so many people around and touching them (a bird was stress grooming). The puppy cages were horrendous as well. They are in a small closed box with a glass wall. They sit/stand on plastic grates where there is evident poop and pee that has fallen down to a bottom tray. Then there are just some toys thrown inside. Those poor dogs looked so miserable. I do not ever leave reviews but I was absolutely disgusted with this place. I would hope that anyone who owns a pet store at least cares about the poor creatures, however, I felt that this place just merely saw them as merchandise.

Hello, I purchased two rats from your establishment: one hairless and one with fur. They were intended as pets, but unfortunately, the hairless one never had a chance. My concern isn't the $25 charge per baby, but rather the fact that you're selling rats that are likely to die within a few days. I acquired the most affectionate and loving baby rat, yet within three days, she exhibited multiple negative signs. Now, I'm faced with the decision to either take this poor angel to the vet while you take no responsibility, or allow her to pass. Despite policy considerations, you sold us an animal that never had a fighting chance, and now we're doing everything in our power for this beautiful angel. She has no chance now. I hope you start checking your animals because my beautiful little angel didn't deserve this. I'd welcome a phone call with them but they seem to ignore the negative reviews

Bought our Cavalier here just over a year ago. They do a great job at trying to connect healthy pets with owners. Before hating on this store remember it is the buyers responsibility to know and be able to care for their pets and that includes vet care and vaxing. Also includes knowing if a breed has possible heredity issues. Get insurance. Love this place and pets are a commitment.

Won’t ever be shopping here again. Already wasn’t comfortable with the way they treat their pocket pets but it’s the only place I can find a specific bedding so I put up with it. Went in today with my own animal in a chest carrier and was told I wasn’t allowed to have her in the building. An animal that was bought from their store..and was already in two other pet stores earlier in the day where the employees gave her treats and were petting her. Ridiculous.

Our visit to the Pet Store was absolutely perfect from start to finish. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left with the newest member of our family, we were treated great and were provided with every bit of information we needed & the staff was extremely friendly and informative.On June 18th, 2021 when we adopted, Bella, we left with not only a healthy & happy, puppy, but a very well tempered and fun little Bea-bull! The Pet Store made sure to get us all her paper-work and certificates from the breeders. The whole experience was simply fantastic!I would highly recommend that if you are looking to add to your family, you visit “The Pet Store” where can you rest easy that you will be seeing healthy, well taken care of, puppies to choose from.Thank you!

My friend bought a bunny from The Pet Store and he only survived for three days due to poor care while in the store. We called in to ask for advice or if we can bring him in and ask for help, and the person who answered the phone (Morgan) was very rude and no help at all. When she should have given the phone to a manager or asked another coworkers for help on how to answer our questions. Very unhappy with our experience with this store and the employees who worked with us. Do better.

if i could rate a 0 i would. i bought a bunny from there. i had no paperwork given to me, no information, no consent form, nothing. 2 days later my bunny died, proven it was because of the neglect given to him during his stay at the pet store. i reached out before he had passed away in search of advice or help. i received nothing but disrespect and attitude from morgan on the phone. saying “well what do you want me to do about it?”. this business doesn’t care in the slightest about the animals, they just want the money and what happens after that they don’t give a care in the world. i hope this place gets shut down, with all disrespect given. do better.

They say they thoroughly vet their puppies’ breeders. However, I just looked up the breeder for a pup I bought from them in 2022 and saw that the breeder was listed on the Humane Society’s Horrible Hundred list of puppy mills for 2023. I think their breeder vetting process leaves much to be desired.

I recently lost a very special budgie who passed away suddenly and I needed a new friend to help mend my broken heart. I went to 3 pet stores in Hanover and 2 had none and 1 had a handful that all looked lethargic. At one of the stores a customer mentioned The Pet Store so I headed to Chambersburg. The selection of parakeets was amazing and I loved that they were in an open air type setting. All the keets looked so happy & healthy! It took me a while to pick my guy and he already looks right at home with me. I'm very happy! The staff were young but very sweet. The pups all looked so happy and healthy as well. The Pet Store gave me a very good vibe, thank you!

Dont waste you're time... Most products are grossly overpriced. Amazon, or chewy would save You probably 70%.This store would be a wonderful gem of a place, if their employees were a bit more welcoming and courteous. When I walked in the store, I said Hello to the employee nearest me, who said not a word back. There was one employee who was sort of helpful, but just barely.I was there looking for a few things for my many pets. We have 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a chinchilla. So there were a few things in different parts of this very small store that I needed to get. The entire time I was in there not a single employee asked if I needed help finding something, when I thought it was pretty obvious that I wasn't finding what I was looking for. Instead they just idled around just close enough that they could watch me, until finally the one when I noticed her watching me like a weirdo from the end of the isle, bustled over and Took the 3 small items i was having no problem holding in my hands the entire time I had been in the store, and said, "let me put these up front, so that you don't...." she stopped short, paused, and then awkwardly said, "drop it all onto the floor". Still didn't ask me if I needed help finding anything but stood at a distance watching me as if they thought I was going to steal something.I almost walked out of the store without purchasing anything at all because of the way I was treated from the moment I walked into the store. Like I was some kind of suspect. If you want to retain customers, you should train your employees on how to observe customers while still providing decent customer service. I definitely won't be coming back to this place. So rude and Stiff.

We love this Place! On labor day of 2019 we purchased a male Miniature Schnauzer from The Pet Store. He was such a healthy, social, and mild mannered dog, that we had to have a friend for him. So, we went back and purchased another one in Jan. of 2020. They use the same high quality breeders, so we were able to get a female from a more recent litter from the same mother and father.They have become fast friends! On the 3rd or 4th day, they decided to start sleeping in the same crate, without us prompting them to. Amazing!The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. They let us take our time and really meet the puppies. They weren't in our face every second, trying to put a sales job on us. While we live about an hour away, we will be back when we need something for these perfect pups!

Our visit to The Pet Store was an excellent experience from start to finish.The staff were extremely nice and helpful and they will do whatever they can to help you. They have a large selection of pet supplies and also pets.On September 4, 2021 my family and i went in to just look at the puppies that they had not realizing that we would be adding a little member to our family. The staff took the time to answer any question that we had and gave all the time that we needed to visit with our new puppy before we made the purchase. Not only did they make sure we understood what came with the puppy but they also walked us around the store to help us get what we would need for our new addition to our family as well as went over all of the paperwork in detail.We left that day with a healthy puppy and a sweet little girl that filled a void in the family that we did not know was there until we held her for the first time and brought her home. I would highly recommend The Pet Store to anyone that is looking for a new addition to their families or just looking for pet supplies. The staff are fantastic and i will no longer go anywhere else other than The Pet Store.

Professional, factual and fun experience. We purchased our family's newest member from here. The staff was very friendly, honest and informative. You must ask educated questions to get educated answers and never assume anything when purchasing something. Even a when it is a pet. We absolutely love our healthy, and happy puppy. He is happy and joyful because he's living in a happy and joyful home. He brings a smile and warm heart to us and everyone he greets. I will continue to be a customer for a long time to come.

Back in the spring, my fiancé and I adopted our first puppy from the pet store in chambersburg. She has been the absolute sweetest thing, very happy an healthy! Thanks to the staff who guided us through our “puppy walk”. Then and now pics included ;)

The place is nice. Well, since they moved because it bigger, not as cramped as it used to be.The only bad thing about here, mostly all the prices are more than any other pet place in the area. Like at least bt $2 to $5 more than others. It's kind of a letdown.Other than that, nice place. Ppl are nice as well.

My younger brother, Bryant, discovered this pet store on his way to school. It was a unique find that kept him coming back for rabbits, pet food, and playtime with the puppies that were being sold there. He expressed a love for the store’s cleanliness, the knowledge of the staff, and just the warm feeling he had when entering the store. I thought with such a hard sell, this is surely the place I would purchase my first pet.I never knew how much joy and fulfillment a pet could give you! I was one of the doubters that just didn’t believe the hype. That was until I saw and played with my Teddi!She has completed my little family and I can’t imagine my world without her. Before and during my purchase in November 2019, the staff answered all my questions, took me on a puppy walk through the store to provide information on care, etc. and gave me a plethora of free items to get me started. Not to mention she was in excellent health and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Coming to this store was one of the best decisions I’ve made and I can’t wait to bring Teddi back for a visit.Do yourself a favor and visit the store. You will not be disappointment and may leave with a treasured new family member.

We went and seen the old English bulldog. They were clean, helpful, very patient, and informative. They are priced a bit high and do keep a few too many birds per cage . But they have excellent cleanliness and super friendly employees. They would be my first choice.

The cages are open, you can handle and pet the animals as you please. We got a bunny yesterday, and he is well acclimated to being held due to the cage system. I think it is very smart

We had been searching to a Rottweiler puppy for a long time until we finally got the call from The Pet Store that they had just gotten in a boy & that same day we went to see in & right away knew he was our new baby. Very poor experience due to incompetent manager.Me and my girlfriend went into the pet store for a fun afternoon adventure, a place we have gone to in the past and have had no issues. Only this time the experience was quite different, two of us were adults with my sister being the exception, we had played with a dog and then were kicked out of the booth! And then the store! Because we were not the parent of my younger sister. The signs within the building do not clarify that you must be a parent, they clarify you must have an adult with you.The poor dog… treated like property and was taken right away from us in a heartless manner. This is all thanks to a manager’s ignorance to know their own store policies. I love the animals, wish I could take them all home with me! But this wonderful idea turned into an aggravating situation, and left me feeling bad for those little pups, I hope they get the chance they deserve!Edit: not all staff was terrible by any means, simply the managers attitude and approach with customers.What the business needs to fix: please fix the policy for the play areas within your store, if a parent must be present have it written on a sign. I am not opposed to returning, but I suggest to the business owner in finding a better equipped manager to handle customers and care for these lovely creatures.

On Jan 9. 2021 we visited The Pet Store and came home with a 2 month old Havenese puppy! The store was very clean and the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and made the whole process a very positive experience. The atmosphere in the store was very upbeat. Would recommend this store to anyone looking for clean, friendly environment. Our puppy is now 3 months old and healthy and happy!! His name is Bentley

Our original plan was to donate to local shelters and play with puppies. Long story short, we end up walking out with the most beautiful puppy. Completely out of the blue. The staff was awesome, very nice group of ladies. While playing with pups, you get to read their information packets. These included health certificates, vaccination lists, breeder info, breeder certificates, pedigree and a pic of puppy and his/her's parents. I personally love this because I always want to see if the pup grows to look like the dam or sire. The staff will also lead you on a "Puppy Walk" so that you can be introduced to items the puppy is already accustomed to. (This is especially important with the food because puppies' stomachs can be sensitive when changing to something new) It is also important if you aren't already prepared for a pup at home.All in all, I loved our experience here. Contemplating wanting to work there in the future, loved it so much! Lol I would definitely recommend to family and friends in the future.Thanks guys!

Went in after losing a very important part of our family with no intention of taking a new four legged child home. We explained to the sales associate that we were just looking at different breeds to see what we liked when we decided as a family that we were ready to start over. She could not have been more understanding, sympathetic and kind. She welcomingly allowed us to visit with several different puppies that we thought we might like and explained details about each and every one of them. She stated numerous times that they get different breeds in all of the time and that we were welcome to stop back anytime to visit with them until our hearts were ready to begin again with our next family member. Little did she know that in that little visiting area we were having a serious conversation because one of the friends we visited with had already stolen our hearts. This sales associate and the customer service that she gave to us was outstanding even though she did not think that we would be purchasing anything that day. I would recommend this store to anyone I know because not many places offer this level of customer service anymore!!!

We recently got our THIRD fur puppy from the pet store. We got out first pup 13 years ago who recently passed away from being a senior and 2 years ago we got our first Boston who has been the 2nd best dog ever especially with our special needs children. Lauren was very nice and helpful she showed us two pups and never pushed anything. She knew we lost Tonka and that our Zoey was very sad from the loss of him. Aspen joined our family after that visit. She has been a good puppy she has had no medical issues and that was confirmed by our vet just like the vet said from the pet store. Thanks Lauren and the staff at the pet store! We will be back!!

We purchased Stella an old English sheepdog, bernese mountian dog mix. We had come into the store just to look at puppies and fell in love. The staff was friendly and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed to take Stella home that day. The staff walked us through the store and showed/ recommended products for Stella. The paperwork was an easy process, that we were walked through every page. We are delighted to have Stella round out our family.

I haven't bought an animal there yet but they have great service they're always super sweet to you. They have dog breeds that fit anyone. We went to The Pet Store and they had one dog that was super energetic and cute! There was another dog (I'm pretty sure from the same litter) was super sweet and chill. And for the hamster there was one there that was a little mean but overall they where all so sweet and cute. The bunny's are also pretty chill. There super cute too. The birds..... My favorite part tbh there so cute and they barely pecked. There super friendly. Even though I myself didn't get an animal (and I will one day preferably from The Pet Store) I'm guessing it would be worth the price so 5 stars for theexperience. (Imma try to get money for a bird.)

Fabulous experience with this family run business!!! I cannot say enough about the professional and knowledgeable staff. The store was simply pristine! From the moment we arrived we were shown attention and patience. The General Manager herself walked us through the large selection of accessories, toys and treats that we needed to take our Furever family member home. We are simply smitten and cannot thank The Pet Store, the General Manager and the staff enough!!! You are in great hands with The Pet Store!!
