I wish I had read the reviews before taking my cat to this vet. I brought my cat in for hair loss and Dr. Stern suspected it was ringworm.Instead of giving me any treatment with an antifungal (as you would do in a case of ringworm), Dr. Linda Stern charged me $84 for deionized water (colloidal silver) and $40 for colloidal silver gel on top of the $99 exam fee.If you're not aware, colloidal silver is claimed to have various health benefits by holistic people, but the FDA has issued a warning against using this because it has led to safety concerns. There are no studies that prove its antibacterial or antifungal efficacy. I wish that I had known this before coming here or Dr. Stern explained this to me before I paid $240 to have my cat lose more hair. :)I went to a different vet and they gave me Tresaderm, which has antibiotic, antifungal, and an anti-inflammatory. Hopefully its not too late to keep all of my cat's hair from falling out!Side note-- I get that some people value holistic practices and want to treat by using the most natural means first. Dr. Stern is not practicing true holistic medicine. Prescribing colloidal silver with no proven efficacy is not evidence based treatment and does not align with having a doctoral degree in veternary medicine.

We brought our dog into Dr. Stern after noticing increased itching and hair loss. We worked with Dr. Stern for over a year. Over the course of the year our dog continued to get worse. Our dog lost so much hair she didn’t even look like a German Shepherd anymore and was in a constant state of itching/ scratching/ and biting. She was miserable. I was at the point of considering putting her down since she was suffering so much. We finally gave up and decided to get a second opinion after dropping $1000’s on appointments and tests that showed no result. After one month at a new vet, our dog’s hair and energy came back. Not to mention that the new vet did not need to do any testing. The first two pictures were the day we went into the new vet (after being under Dr. Sterns care for a year). The last picture is exactly 33 days later after receiving REAL care from the new vet. Dr. Stern would rather see your animal suffer than heal them. She also calls you out and makes you feel like a horrible pet owner if you question her, or you do not agree to all her testing and treatments, or cannot afford to do everything she suggests. I could write a novel on my bad experiences here but would rather let these pictures share my story.

I can't begin to explain what could happen here. Just seeing the comments and reviews should be enough to take your loving pets elsewhere. They may be entitled to an opinion, but just because they're a vet doesn't mean you get to dictate how others feel about their care they received. Seeing how pets have died in your care is enough for me. Seeing the rude feedback to mourning owners.. its quite disgusting. You getting payed should be the least of your worries. You chose to take a job to take care of our animals, not to abuse your power to prove a point or make the owners seem like terrible people. It's sad that this is how the world is anymore. Insufferably rude people.

This experience didn't feel like they have our pets best interest at heartExpensiveI felt like I was being sold their products over taking care of the signs of anxiety in both us and our dogsI felt the vet could have done better protecting themselves and helping an anxious dog better, he is old and getting in an already anxious dogs face and making sudden movements near a near blind dog will get the reactions that you received. They clearly didn't realize they upset us and didn't take that into consideration. We left crying and they had an issue with one of us being an owner of one dog... and the other being mine.... while i was getting the dogs out of the office while my significant other was crying waiting to pay the billVery inconsiderate.

Dr. Stern is the best avian vet we have seen so far. She knows what she’s doing and didn’t question that my bird was sick, unlike the other vet I saw the previous day that told me my bird was merely carsick and that it wasn’t a big deal. I’m sure that if I had listened to the other vet, my bird would be dead by now. She did a lot for us, so of course, the bill wasn’t cheap. I can’t think of anyone else who does what she does since she brought our bird into her home and cared for my bird. It worked, and were so happy to have our baby back to normal. We’re going to even start bringing our dog here since she gave such amazing advice for our dog as well. (I included before and after care pictures.)

Update: still no response on this review.Dear Linda Stern,I wanted to reach out to you regarding my experience at your office before, during and after I left. It has been by far the worst experience with a veterinary clinic in my life. I wanted to email this to you as a briefing before I post it to google as a review.I called your office at about 9:35 am on Thursday April 6th with an EMERGENCY. I was told that I would have to pay for the emergency visit AND the exam before I was able to walk through the doors. Mind you, I was holding my nearly lifeless bird in my arms while driving and frantically trying to find an ER that would see my pet. Meanwhile all that was cared about was receiving my deposit. When I arrived to your facility there was 1 patient waiting in the waiting room. I was told that I needed to pay the money up front because it was going to interfere with your other clients. I wasn’t sure why this couldn’t have been handled when I arrived at the office. Instead, I needed to pull over and get my credit card out and make a payment. NOT GOOD BUSINESSI was taken into a room with Percy and waited nearly 10 minutes for you to come see us. When you came into the room, you were quite unsympathetic and even waved your hands to get our towel off of your exam table. My husband had asked you a couple questions in which you had a snarky reply, but we were there for Percy’s best interest. We had agreed for you to take Percy home with you for 24 hours and paid the estimate balance for that. The only reason Percy stayed at your facility was that you were going to take him home with you and tube feed him because I was not familiar with that.About an hour after I had left your facility, I called to check on Percy. I was told that you were with another client and would call me back in just a couple minutes. It was about 15-20 minutes later that I received your phone call back. You had told me that Percy passed away in your hands a little while ago and that you were sorry. If I had called 15-20 minutes ago and then you were with clients - when did Percy die and why in world was I not called immediately? Instead of making a 3-5 minute phone call, you proceeded to see other clients! This is by far the biggest thing that I am upset about. Wouldn’t you want to know that your pet had passed away when it happened? So this brings me to my next questions… once we left your facility, Percy would have only been there an hour until the time I called at 12:45 pm. At that time, he was already deceased. So in an hours time, he received laser therapy AND was tube fed? I say an hour but not sure it was even that long since I wasn’t notified soon after he had passed.I do not feel good about this experience at all what so ever. You told me 100 times that cat bites were deadly to birds and I understand that but never an inkling of hope for our pet.I breed cats as a hobby and love for animals. I deal with veterinary offices quite often and I have never felt this way before. I hope this can be an eye opener for you and your front desk receptionist to be a little more sympathetic about people and their pets. I was charged $664.53 for roughly 3 hours of my bird being in your facility, in which he passed away shortly after I left when I had paid for 24 hours of care before I even left. This doesn’t make any sense to me.My pet, Percy has been at your facility for 11 days and NOT a single phone call to pay the remaining balance before he would be sent to the crematory location. While we are waiting for a phone call to come get him, my 7 year old daughter has been asking daily about him, I assumed I would pay the balance when I picked up my pet, but again MONEY OVER SYMPATHY. I can assure you I will never return to your facility and I am quite sad I was ever there to begin with. Not only did I lose my pet but was treated like filth too at Healing Creatures.

This literally was the best vet I’ve been to so far. Dr Stern was patient and knowledgeable . She went the extra mile and thoroughly answered all my questions. Her staff was kind and helpful. And at the and of the visit we even left with a new puppy bag full of natural goodies . After many trials and errors I’m so glad I finally found a trustworthy vet concerned with the well-being of my animals and not in selling prescriptions and exams unnecessarily . I only wish I would have found them sooner.

At the owner who responded:First of all I NEVER used profanity and never yelled at anyone. I raised my voice. I was never allowed to yell as a child…ever. My Mother suffered from bad headaches and we always had to be quiet. But apparently your receptionist can repeatedly say I was getting mad and I’m not allowed to defend myself but accept her verbal abuse? Are you trying to make a sale with your response about the glow bowl? How do you know it’s safe for pets? Because the manufacturer says so? Yet you won’t read the ingredients on the homeopathy meds I was giving my cat cuz it “could have anything in it”. You NEVER asked if I could medicate my cat. You said “there are some things we can try but I can’t promise you anything.” You told me how it would need to be administered but that was it. I mean who would say no to that question anyway? Seriously?! I don’t speak cat to ask if he would eat his food with bitter additives. I mean really?! I had no idea I had to interpret what you were saying. Maybe I should have brought a translator that speaks veterinarian with me? Seeing as you didn’t address the fact that you would not listen to me tell you about the homeopathic meds I was currently giving my cat (which means I CAN medicate my cat) speaks volumes as to how much listening you do versus talking. Use your two ears more instead of your one mouth.Somehow I thought that going to a Holistic Vet would be beneficial. I thought wrong.1. You’re a new client? You must PREPAY $100 for a regular visit and $199 for a holistic visit and that’s just to walk in. Yikes!!2. I was already giving my cat homeopathic “meds” yet when I TRIED to show the vet the ingredients she went on to say that homeopathic medicine isn’t regulated and anything could be in that product I was showing her. So what about the homeopathic meds she prescribes?? She is like any other vet and just wants you to spend money with them.3. I paid over $100 for meds and that was with the new patient discount of $10. My cat won’t eat his food with it mixed in and I can’t give it to him without mixing it or it can cause issues. So the receptionist told me to spoon feed my cat…twice a day!!! Like I have time for that….nor will my cat allow me to SPOON feed him!!4. The vet was telling me how sensitive cats are to EVERY LITTLE SMELL and to not burn candles, use diffusers or scented sprays in my house. Yet when you walk into her office the first thing you SMELL is something scented to make the office smell good. Hmmmm5. The receptionist is rude and not personable at all. Why they have her manning reception or the phones is beyond me. I will stick with my regular vet who has a very personable staff.PS - Don’t look for a big sign out front advertising where they’re located. She didn’t want to spend the money so look for the little paper signs inside the tinted windows in their office and good luck!

Dr.Stern was great! Staff was great! Took my bunny Spots in there yesterday, Dr Stern was very up front and quickly found my Bunny's problem. GI stasis was the diagnosis. Which bunnies don't usually have a good chance of survival. She swiftly came up with a game plan and thoroughly walked me through instructions for at home care to try to get him better. Its only been a day I'm already seeing positive results🤗 He is eating, drinking, and moving around ,using the bathroom normally now! Thank you Dr Stern for all your help! Spots thanks you as well!🐇❤️

Hello! I am not a client and have never been to this clinic before and never will be! Reading through these negative reviews I can see exactly where a lot of clients are coming from. The owner’s responses to reviews left by THE CLIENTS who experienced it are awful. Seeing reviews like “the doctor was very rude” and then reading the responses the reviews are getting make me feel like this doctor is genuinely rude. I’m glad I read the reviews because I will not be going here. Have a great day!

It can be difficult to find a good veterinarian for our chinchilla. We came in because our chinchilla' s tooth was overgrown. Everyone was so nice and the girls were able to grind down her tooth easily enough without it costing a ridiculous amount. Thank you so much!

Dr Stern and her team are the most attentive and knowledgeable veterinarian office I have ever dealt with. They are friendly, skilled and patient when dealing with my more difficult babies. Twice, one of my ferrets needed an emergency appointment and both times I was able to get in the same day. Dr Stern always educates me on treatment options and is never pushy. I am thrilled to have found this office!

If I could leave less than one star, I would. I have no doubts that this place was the cause of my Guinea pig dying in pain. As another person said, it is extremely hard to find an exotic vet. Some background: my Guinea pig had been coughing for a couple weeks and we were treating it at home with the help of an online vet and research. My husband and I noticed that for approximately 2 weeks, our guinea was losing weight and we had not seen her eat or drink (this part is crucial). After doing more research, and calling the online vet again we came to the conclusion that humane euthanasia was the best option considering how much weight she had dropped and the fact that breathing was becoming more labored. We called quite a couple veterinarians and they either could not get her on the schedule or did not treat Guinea pigs. We called this place (which does anything except heal creatures) and they were able to get us in. I had an appointment in Hershey at the time my sweet Toffee was schedule, so my husband took her in. My husband and I were constantly communicating about what was being said, but the “dr” started becoming frustrated at having to wait an extra 30-45 seconds for me to reply. I was asked to call the office, which I did. When I asked for a brief rundown, she seemed frustrated to provide that. When I was asked what had changed, I mentioned that since I had not seen Toffee eat I was trying to feed her favorite fruits and veggies. The dr zeroed in on that telling me I shouldn’t be feeding my guinea pigs fruit or vegetables; (they don’t get them all the time just as a treat) but I was desperate at the fact that I had not seen Toffee eating. My husband had told me that when the dr had examined Toffee, she made it seem like there was hope in saving her and that her condition was not as bad. I was told that Toffee was sick but treatment would help. NOTHING ABOUT HER BEING CRITICAL WAS MENTIONED TO EITHER OF US (another critical piece of information). As I’m on this phone call, I’m racing from Hershey back to Mechanicsburg while dealing with after work rush hour. I consented to X-rays being done, with the condition they be sent to me, and then deciding upon treatment.X-rays we’re done, I was called back and told that treatment would definitely help Toffee. Both my husband and I were hesitant about this news because we had already tried treating it at home with no improvement. At this hesitation, the dr (or better called a quack) mentioned that if we didn’t see improvement by Wednesday night/Thursday morning (Toffee’s appointment was in a Monday afternoon) she would waive exam, euthanasia, and cremation fees. What pet parent doesn’t want to give their little furry family member every fighting chance if it seems possible? Both my husband and I consented cautiously. She was given fluids at the clinic, and I got there just in time to go over treatment administration. If my pet/furry family member had a fighting chance, why did she pass away in my arms within 30 minutes of leaving the clinic?!When I called back the next morning, explained what happened and asked for a refund (since the second appointment was no longer necessary) I was denied because “we knew the risks” and were told our pet was critical. NOT ONE TIME DID THIS QUACK MENTION THE WORD CRITICAL TO MYSELF OR MY HUSBAND. The younger receptionist seemed authentic and apologized saying she would give us the refund if she could; when the clinic manager got on the phone I was yelled at, scolded like I was her child and patronized. Oh! And guess what, I still haven’t received the X-rays. If you love your pets, take them somewhere else. Save yourself some grief.Edit: We found an exotic vet who could do a consultation via zoom (thus ONLINE VET). For this quack of a doctor to simply assume that we do not love our pets says a lot about this store when we (the vet, my husband and myself) determined that we had exhausted all options and were only prolonging her suffering, we decided it was best to euthanize.Reading comprehension goes a long way.

Exotic veterinarians are hard to come by but unfortunately this practice run by Dr. Stern leaves something to be desired. I waited a hour in the exam room (1hour) after my appointment time. I stated that I thought I was forgotten about when the Vet walked in and she became very hostile. Told me she makes people wait 2-3 hours and if I didn’t like it there is the door. I am a part of the veterinary medical field and I find Dr. Stern’s professionalism appalling. You could have at least apologized or let me know that you were running behind. I will not be going back. If you love your pets as much as I do go somewhere else! 💔

Dr. Linda Stern and her staff are very compassionate and caring towards all the creatures they have seen. From friends Guinea pig emergencies, to geriatric cats, dogs and of course my birds in emergent and wellness care. She is a dedicated Veterinarian who cares for the Person and the well being of the animals she treats. She saved a chihuahua pup of mine that was failed to given me proper care sheet upon bringing him home over three decades ago. She is trained in holistic alternative care and really is an asset to our animals health and well being. WE APPRECIATE YOU DR. Stern and your dedication throughout the pandemic which brought hard times for many. Your continued care has been optimal. The office offers curbside for those not able to wear a mask upon bringingIn their furry friends.Thank you again for years of wonderful service to our community💖💫🍀

This is one of the worse vets I ever been to my bearded dragon got sick so I took him there before it was too late and they took their time getting me into a room and coming into. Check on him when he was barely breathing nor did they really care or try to help him except for giving him some medicine which didn't do anything it's because of them my beardie died. They also charged me $200 for medication that didn't help this vet should be shutdown they are very unprofessional.

Veterinarian was very rude to me and blamed me for my ferret getting sick. She got mad at my father for having to answer a business call. They basically said they didn’t want to draw blood to see what was wrong with my ferret. The vet techs were very nice and caring!! Also the lady at the front desk is very sweet. I do not recommend because although the employees are sweet, the VETERINARIAN herself was snippy and rude. Hate having to leave a bad review but i was very unsatisfied. 400 dollars later for some x-rays and fluids :/

I have a 15 yr. Peekaboo, who was suffering from acute back pain and spams. She could barely walk. I called Healing Creatures (never had been here before), they immediately got us in that day. We were told there would be a wait.Less than 20min. In a room.Dr. Stern, evaluated Lucy, and recommend VOM. 20 min treatment and my baby is 85% improved. We are following up with another treatment. The Herb combination she gave Lucy, kept her free of pain. I will be taking ALL of our animals to Dr. Stern, for natural healing that works.Thank You, to the staff and doctor who really care about your loved one getting better.

I've known dr stern for over 30 yrs and she is one of the very few that deal with exotic animals and holistic care, my cat yrs ago had a bad reaction to a flea treatment that I put on and she saved her life! Dr stern is currently treating my guinea pig thats having issues, I've had almost a dozen guinea pigs that I've taken to her and she is reliable, knowledgeable and she loves animals ! , I would and have recommended her many times she always checks to see how my animals are doing and is very thorough , Dr stern is best in the area

Dr. Stern is very knowledgeable and offers a great deal of information on holistic and healthy ways to care for your pets. I bring my cat to Dr. Stern and she has shown improvement with some longstanding health issues. It's easy to get an appointment, and they work with other veterinarians in traditional medicine, as well. Costs per visit is on the high side, but you gain a lot of insight into how to be an outstanding pet parent.

My rabbit had an eye problem, I took him to another place and they had no idea. He was on antibiotics for 2 weeks it kinda helped. So I decided to bring him here, within 2-3 days of using NATURAL medicine my rabbit was already doing a lot better. Plain and simple best rabbit vet around!

SCAM smell - was told $175 consult MUST be pre-paid and included an initial adjustment (VSM - chiro for doggies), but not diagnostics (understandable). Pre-paid and was assured a "very thorough" exam would be done. Took 35 min to see the vet, and she had hands on him less than 5 min (for the "very thorough exam" I was assured of), tried to sell me on a bunch of blood tests, supplements, enzymes, acupuncture, etc. I asked just for the chiropractic adjustment, which is what I came for. She did an actuator all up and down the spine, but appeared to not identify where the subluxations were prior to that. Also adjusted him without maintaining him in a single position - let him sit on a leg - spine is obviously not in a good position for an adjustment like that. Upon checking out, they told me I needed to pay another $110. For what?? I was told the $175 included the adjustment. They told me they never said that and the adjustment was a separate $110. I can't believe it was a $175 consult for the "very thorough exam" which was not. DO NOT recommend and would caution you to stay away. I should have known when they asked for the 1st visit to be pre-paid. Also, vet was not familiar with my dog's medical condition, so I have no confidence in her general practice either. If you choose to go I hope you have a better experience than I did.Edit to respond to business comments:I was standing there holding him the whole time because no tech was in there..I was paying attention. The exam consisted of checking ears mouth and pressing on back, briefly pressing on belly. All very fast. This is not a "thorough exam" in anyone's book and CERTAINLY not $175 worth.I said I was open to supplements with the assurance that with his EPI he would not get worse, and/or acupuncture but primarily open to manipulation, which Dr. Sern recommended. I asked about supplements without other factors but was advised to consider combination enzymes, which are completely inappropriate for an EPI dog. I gave up.Re prior history, even if you didn't get complete medical records I wrote it IN DETAIL on the intake sheet. Which was apparently not read. Clear Dr. Stern was not aware of EPI and did not understand severity of advising for supplements without knowing. Note: EPI is fatal without the "a lot of medication."I am well aware the VSM is different than chiropractic, but spinal manipulation is spinal manipulation, and watching Dr Stern take a shotgun approach to the whole spine without identifying why might specifically be wrong was very concerning. Didn't mention or recommend x-rays.My appointment was 3pm (on time) and I didn't get released til 4:15. Appt with vet was about 15 min. Adjustment was 5 min.The funny thing is, even with ALL this, including being suspicious of the "shotgun approach" to the manipulation, I would have been open to coming back to see if the VSM would work and I was asking about another appt when they shocked me with the $110 charge on top of the $175.This is a ridiculous amount of money for the lack of knowledge and care demonstrated here. I will not be going back and I cannot recommend it.

We are so glad we found Healing Creatures. They saved our cat (who has kidney issues) using a combination of Holistic/Chinese medicine and Traditional medicine if/when necessary. I love that they take the natural approach as often as they can- but they aren't afraid to use antibiotics if its absolutely necessary. In just 1 year, its amazing to see how much our cat has improved since we have been with them. Her kidney function has improved, she has gained weight and overall is now a healthy, happy cat. It can get expensive when choosing the holistic route for petcare, but in my experience, it was totally worth it!

I attempted to make an appt on June 21st for my pet. Was treated kindly until I was informed masks are mandatory until June 28th. I explained I cant wear one, but it was 8 days earlier then "they " required, that could they see my sick pet and she said NO. I asked if she would relay feedback as I shouldn't be discriminated against because of my own medical reasons and she proceeded to get flippant and say its what we require, thats it. I said thats fine but as a consumer my feedback should be relayed. She continued to give me attitude and was extremely flippant. If this is how their service is for people who can speak up, I hate to see their service for helpless animals.I will go elsewhere and never recommend them.If they dont care about your individualized health, how could they care about your pets.

5 stars isn't even enough for Dr. Stern & her team at Healing Creatures. **My general review will be in the last 2 paragraphs. Personal story in the next paragraph.**My husband & I first found HC when our ferret became ill seemingly out of nowhere, & no local vets would see him. Driving him out from Red Lion to Camp Hill was a no-brainer when Dr. Stern said she could see him (& subsequently fixed him up) right away. We returned a few weeks later when our frequently-ill kitten swelled up badly. Previously, we had been taking her to the local emergency clinic, but quickly racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills for her. We loved Healing Creatures & wanted to see if they could help our little Misha. They saw her multiple times over the span of just a few months, and eventually we got her the QEST (spelling?) diagnostic test that Dr. Stern had been recommending for some time. The test gave us a long list of sensitivities and allergies that Misha might have, & we added and subtracted things to her diet based on the results. We quickly learned that Misha was allergic to turkey, which is in a lot of cat foods as simply "poultry byproduct" or something similar. So our cat's life had been at risk multiple times over the previous year, & Dr. Stern and her team fixed the problem and saved us thousands more in future emergency bills and- most importantly- she almost certainly saved Misha's life.My husband & I are moving abroad, but will be returning with all of our fur-babies for preventative care visits. They are all so comfortable with the amazing people at HC, & going to the vet has become more of a "field trip" than a stressful appointment. Dr. Stern and her staff are not only highly informed in everything that they do, but they are also incredibly compassionate and make the pets feel at home (even when they're getting pricked with needles lol).Further, their homeopathic treatments are serious business. Before we let Dr. Stern do the QEST test on Misha, she gave us a tincture to help with Misha's immune reactions, & it helped resolve her swelling much faster than usual. We've also used natural antihistamine alternatives, dental enzymes, natural food additives to aid in teeth cleaning, etc. After seeing the difference between what conventional meds did for Misha vs what the natural treatments did, I now stand firmly by the belief that pharmaceuticals are not always the best or most effective option (although they certainly are sometimes!). It is important to have a vet that is well-versed in making that distinction and doing what is best for your pet's health. I can't thank Healing Creatures enough for everything they've done for our little family. And every time we see them, they continue to help us improve our pets' wellbeings.

I came to their office just at closing with an avian emergency.Despite the time, they let us in. Unfortunately, we were literally a minute too late. The staff were so compassionate and patient. They treat their humans as well as they treat their animals. Dr. Stern goes above and beyond! This facility and staff is an asset to the area.

I took my western hognose snake here over a year ago because she had a mouth issue. The vet told us that she had a little inflammation In her mouth and should just put some ointment that she prescribed and all would be good. After it looked like it healed she would reject food a lot and we took her to another vet today and the vet said she had had no calcium and no teeth and that the vet here knew nothing about what she was saying. Place sucks
