Although the set-up of the store is a bit claustrophobic, the staff is extremely kind and willing to help customers find what they are looking for. It’s a great location in town for those who need grocery or supplies, but don’t want to drive to Wal-Mart. Nice selection too. I’m also surprised to learn what I’m able to get there.

Pros:-It's a great distance from virtually the whole town (it's a very small town). -None of the staff are flat-out rude. I wish that I knew the name of the employee that came to my assistance during a crappy situation that happened in June (see cons section).-They have got a bunch of cool sales going on. My husband and I usually come back with at least one food item that was on sale. (ie: 3 soups for the price of 2. That's for the hearty soups, not the traditional-sized chicken noodle, for example).Cons:-I really like Dollar General overall, but I'm not a fan of this store in itself. It's so cramped. I actually had an anxiety attack attempting to navigate amidst the close-together shelves and the boxes that appeared to be randomly stacked throughout. This isn't a good place to go if you have several kids with you, never mind if you're by yourself. I don't have access to a vehicle, so I'm kind of stuck. But I'm still very grateful that the store is there.-As was previously mentioned, none of the staff are flat-out rude. However, they aren't exactly friendly, either, for the most part. When I make purchases in a store, I expect to acknowledged as a person, not just someone with money. Even when I'm polite to them first, they usually only say what they must (and they almost act as if if pains them to do so). I hardly ever see a man working there. Maybe they need more.-If you purchase the toilet paper there, please don't go for the store's brand if you can help it. It's always very difficult to get the roll started, and often the plies don't stick together the way that they're supposed to (they're 2-ply).Bottom line: If you are on a budget and love sales, then this is a great place for you. Otherwise, if you can be picky, keep looking.**bonus**They do carry some diabetes friendly desserts that are actually not half bad, but you never know when they'll stop carrying something (even items that are popular), so get them while you can.

This is an awesome store to visit if you live on the Cal U campus or near downtown California. It is within reasonable walking distance of the Cal U campus and many neighborhoods in California. Also, the prices here are awesome! I just bought a birthday card for only one dollar plus sales tax! I am not sure how this store stays in business charging these low prices but as long as they are still in town, I plan to continue shopping here for the foreseeable future.

Good prices as usual, but the store is very cluttered and disorganized, with many aisles blocked by piles of boxes and trash, and it looks like it rarely gets cleaned or straightened up. Also they rarely have anyone watching the registers for customers who are ready to checkout, which causes long lines to form and people to get upset at having to wait for a cashier to come to the front of the store.

Not very big and the isles are cramped, but good enough for campus residents who need to buy a few odds and ends in a pinch, rather than drive or take the bus to Wal Mart. Extremely convenient - an easy walk from pretty much anywhere on campus or in town

The store associates and managers that work at this location are the most friendly I've ever encountered. I've been shopping here for a little over a year and they re always helpful and are sure to greet me when I walk in and are always knowledgeable about the products in their store.

The pretty lady who checked me out was helpful in finding a number of things in the store. From the check out counter, she told me where to find items. Very impressive and an asset to the store. I will be returning and hope to see her again. Very pleasant young lady.

They had everything I needed, including Sara Lee bread and Entemann's donuts, a good selection of brick cheeses, and there was butter, though only the house brand.

Does not meet American with Disability Act get through owls I'm in a wheelchair and can barely even get through the door and I have to get out of my wheelchair and hold onto a cart to get through the storeWould be nice to have a bigger store with a more food selection bigger and wider owls

Went for bread..no longer carting Nicole's bread so I didn't get bread got 1/2 gal milk. Not finding the products I like there. I used to go to the dollar store 4 times a week or more now I find going once in a while for milk, not much more

Very good prices and not usually a long wait. Anytime I go I just hop right in line and with 4 minutes in out the door. Workers are very helpful and do their job great.

Well. waste of a trip. i called before i came and asked if they had basketballs, which they told me they did. i show up, i’m sure you know where this is going. NO BASKETBALLS!!! WILL NEVER COME BACK. PERIODT.

Bigger than it looks from the outside. Definitely one of the "cleaner" Dollar General stores. The employees are very nice and helpful.
