Dwain and his team (huge shout-out to Russ and Scott!) were absolutely fantastic to work with on our recent kitchen remodel and installation of LVP flooring throughout the first floor of our 50s-era home. My husband and I are thrilled with our new kitchen and floors; Dwain truly helped to bring my ideas to life while respecting our budget.He was readily available, extremely communicative, and showed up when he said he would. We especially appreciated his attention to detail and desire to ensure that we were satisfied with absolutely everything.His team was super easy to work with and very trustworthy. My husband was traveling for work on a crucial day of the remodel and Russ was particularly fantastic with explaining things to me when I needed to make some decisions. Russ built an incredible custom pantry and did a wonderful job of maximizing storage, and Scott's tile work with our penny round backsplash looks perfect. They are obviously so skilled and it showed in so many areas!It was an absolute pleasure to have those guys in our home these past few weeks! My dogs definitely were spoiled with extra pets and some french fries along the way :) can't recommend Southerland Flooring & Home Improvement enough! Thank you so much Dwain!!!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Southerland Flooring (Dwain, Russ and Gage) for the renovation of my main bathroom and for a baseboard project to update the look in my home. I cannot express how great they were to work with and for the finished product(s). This company rescued me from a horrible renovation gone wrong. I was pregnant and scrambling to renovate our basement in order to free up space for our nursery upstairs. I could not be happier with the results. We converted great room into a proper laundry/mudroom and home office. We altered the stair case and put in cabinets. They also did a custom door for me to match the other doors. The work was top quality and the crew was very nice and incredibly responsive. Most important to me, they showed up when they said they would and did what they said they would do. Absolutely fabulous. Very close to the best deal in town but far nicer work than you’d get for the “best deal”!!! Absolutely trustworthy and finished in record time. Total bathroom remodel for less than half of the fancy place and we are very pleased. 80’s bathroom turned dreamy 2023. And some beautiful wallpapering in our foyer. We contacted several companies for an estimate to install flooring on our first floor - except the kitchen – about 500sqft. Southerland came out the same day as the other three companies. Owner spent a significant amount of time with us frankly discussing what we wanted, looking at the rooms, measuring, educating us on the pros and cons of engineered hardwood vs hardwood. We had several challenges –a concrete dip in one room from an old removed fireplace, a pocket door that I wanted to still be able to open, and a front door I wanted to be able to open completely (hadn’t since I purchased the house due to a hump in the tile floor). Dwain was very patient with my questions. He was also the only one of the companies that had a solution to our door issues that didn’t involve US fixing them after the floors were in. He gave us a rough estimate at that time.After choosing Southerland for the job, Dwain came back to more critically measure. He also told us how much wood to buy (we had finally decided on hardwood), what the process would entail (so there were no surprises and yes, it was a messy job), give an estimate of how long the job would take. He gave us the final price, gave us a start date, and we signed a contract. He offered to pick up the flooring for us if we couldn’t get it to the house ourselves to save us delivery cost. He called a week before they were to start to let us know they were still on schedule and to check that WE were still on schedule with our stripping and painting.They started on a Monday and worked all day through Thursday to finish up. Dwain came out to finish the last of the trim (we had to get more) and do the final walk through on Friday. My husband regaled me every day with how much time and care the installers took to plan each row of flooring so that the colors and the wood-grain scattered randomly throughout and that there were no 4” planks at the end of a row anywhere. He also told me how thorough they were planning the first row so that the one line of site where the flooring ran through all three rooms was perfect. The trim was all hand-stained on the job and the transitions are all nicely done. Dwain was there every day to check on the job. The installers reviewed with me where they were every day when I came home, and addressed any questions or concerns we had. They also were able to trim the bottom of my pocket door (without having to take it down…because it’s encased in the wall…) and removed the front door and trimmed it down so that both now fully open without any floor contact. :D . I must say that the before and after results are stunning!They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive estimate. I really appreciated that there wasn’t any schmoosing – just frank discussion of what was possible and what was not. I hate when companies promise the moon knowing it can’t be delivered. When a problem came up during the install, we were told and consulted about our options. They worked hard and the result was very professionally done. What more can you ask for? Would highly recommend Southerland to any of my friends. Will definitely call them when it’s time for our next job.Note on the photos: Photo with purple walls is before shot for reference- it shows carpet and tile floors. Photos showing hall steps- there is no trim around the steps because we will have carpet there when it’s replaced and I didn’t want the old tatty strip of carpet put back up.

Dwayne and his crew did an amazing job on my new home. We had a lot of remodeling to do before move in day and not very much time to do it. I was so impressed with their timing and the quality of work. My home was barely livable and we literally had three weeks to finish it. They redid my wood floors, installed a porcelain tile floor in the kitchen along with new cabinets. They put in a new ceiling that changed my whole dining area, fixed my water heater and much more. Their work was precise and their was open communication the entire time. Dwayne will go out of his way to accommodate you. He even helped me pick out my cabinets and counter top. Our experience with Dwain Southerland and his crew was EXCELLENT! Dwain Southerland not only is an expert contractor, he also has integrity, we felt that he truly cared about the quality of the work that he and his crew of experts did in their various fields.We felt like family.Our completely new bathroom is exactly what I wanted and more. We also had several other needed projects done. Southerland Flooring installed a waterproof, vinyl floor in our basement. Dwain was really responsive and promptly provided an estimate and carpet samples. He and his team arrived promptly, completed when they said they would, and did high quality work. They removed our old carpeting and hauled away the pieces and were flexible when the room provided some challenges. The fit and finish of the floor and trim is great and we couldn't be happier. We recently had our flooring replaced in our entire house by Southerland Flooring. Vinyl Plank and carpet. Dwain and his crew did a great job with the installation and cleanup. They weren’t the cheapest or most expensive but in the end we are extremely happy we chose them to do our work! We have already contracted a deck for Dwain and crew to build in the spring.

Dwain came out of his way to show us some carpet samples. The quality of the carpet he showed us was twice that of the other companies we had come in. His price was comparable with theirs as well, despite being a higher quality material. The other companies were going to install with multiple seams, while Dwain was able to do only one seam between our two rooms. Other companies tried to shy us away from independent contractors saying they would make a jigsaw puzzle of our rooms, and this couldn't be farther from the truth.On installation day Dwain's crew was incredible. They planned installation around our trash pickup, so as they took out the old carpet and padding it went right to the curb. They handled our furniture as if it was their own, then replaced it and re-secured it to the walls when they were done. We have a young daughter who was extremely interested in the work, and they were excellent with her. They played games with her while they were working, and even gave her "her own piece of the new carpet to keep" from some of the excess. She was so excited to carry around a square yard of carpet! They left our home spotless, even vacuuming before they packed up. Our new carpet looks immaculate, and Dwain assured us that if anything seems off he would be out to look at it and fix or explain what's going on.He was great throughout the entire experience, wasn't trying to sell us on anything. He gave us his honest opinion and directly answered every question we asked of him. The way he presented himself throughout the process and the "vibe" we got when he left the consult was the deciding factor in choosing Southerland.We would highly recommend choosing Southerland for any flooring work you are looking into.

Finding a contractor was very difficult since we moved from out of town and didn’t know anyone. We called 10 companies and Southerland Flooring was the only one that showed up on time and could deliver what we wanted. We absolutely love Southerland Flooring!!!
