The staff/volunteers at the Sanctuary at Haafsville were extremely helpful in our adoption process. Their passion and love for the animals are obvious. Our adoption was seamless thanks to their knowledge and experience. Our pet has quickly become part of the family! They are true match makers!! If you're looking for that special companion, they are the best to help make happen!

I drove 2 hours to adopt my Cookie Dough. The process was easy. They told me about her temperament and food preferences, sent me home with food and an appt to get her fixed.

I went to visit with the dogs. The volunteers there are very welcoming and make sure you are able to see whatever dog you wanted to see and any other ones they have.

Adopted a kitten here in the beginning of January. Staff was so nice from starting the application process to picking up my kitty. Answered any questions I had. Took their time going over adoption paperwork and explaining what steps I needed to take next( neutering and upcoming vaccinations).

i had a stray cat at my house. she is an awesome cat but i could not keep her due to circumstances of my own. it was heartbreaking for me. The Sanctuary at Haafsville took her in for me. I am so grateful they did.Thank You! I know you have you hands full at this time. You are a bunch of Hero's.

Seemed very political and poorly run when we went to look at the animals they had. We were told to fill out an application before even looked at anything. Once we did and thought we had found a dog we liked, we were denied anyway for unknown reasons. We have a perfect animal history and live on 3 acres, we have no idea what could have gone wrong. So upset and out kids were a mess over this. Never again. We ended up with Ruff Life Rescue and had a much better experience with more professional and compassionate people.

Nice shelter, but disappointing process. I think a good percentage of desirable dogs are adopted by someone connected to the shelter.

We stopped in on a Saturday for an adoption event and came home with our 4th fur baby on Sunday! The facility is clean and well organized, the animals are all well treated and the staff was friendly and helpful. They have a walking trail where we were able to spend some one on one time with the available dogs. Connie was fantastic answering any questions and helping us adopt the latest addition to our family. I was so impressed with the rescue that I signed my son and I up as volunteers.

This is one of the better shelters in the NJ/PA area and I am so glad I found it to adopt my cat.The cats/dogs here are well cared for regardless of their condition. My cat has special needs and the amount of back-end vet work they did prior to me adopting was wonderful. Most places probably wouldn't have taken a chance on her.Speaking more on the cat side, they let some of them roam loose instead of confined to a cage. I would say this place is above average in terms of cleanness. The cats there are friendly and sociable. The volunteers are welcoming and care about the animals so much! They want them all to go to a good home. This is a happy shelter and I wish all the animals there find a good home. I will continue to support and donate and hope to adopt my next furry friend here too.

Amazing place. Clean, animals are well taken care of. Blown away that it is run by volunteers, everyone we worked with was so kind and professional. They took the time to listen to what type of companion we wanted for our current dog, and actively worked with us to find the right temperament. We needed to do a few meetings to find the right match and it was worth it- the dog we initially came to see was not a fit for us or our aging parents, and I'm glad we listened to the experience of the people helping us. They know each dog and their personalities and what will work best. Had a few bumps once home but Jane was so helpful over the phone and gave us lots of great tips. Such a great resource, can not recommend them enough.

The volunteers were wonderful and so kind. They truly care about these animals finding safe and loving homes - and they make sure all the animals are well taken care of while in the shelter (clean environment, enrichment activities, exercise, lots of love from the volunteers). We missed out on a couple dogs when we first started looking due to there being other applications in before us (not a bad problem to have! We’re so happy they found homes), and the volunteers continued to help us to find a dog in need that would be a great fit for our family and home.

Out of all of the dog rescues I've been to in the country over the years, this is BY FAR the cleanest and nicest one yet! Their entire process from meeting the dog to taking her home was so pleasant. Jayne-Anne and Melissa were so consistent with their communication. They truly want what is best for the dogs/cats as all of these critters are coming from broken homes and terrible situations. What blew me away the most was how they offered to give us food, medication, toys, a bed and blankets to take home. No other rescue has ever done that for us! I highly recommend The Sanctuary for anyone interested in adopting, or even just to volunteer! I wish we lived closer so we could volunteer or donate consistently!! Thank you all SO MUCH for being the kindest and most thorough Animal Rescue EVERRRR!!!! We love yall ♡

We can’t say enough about Haafsville. The pets are well taken care of. They give the dogs 4 walks per day on average. The food is from the local company Fresh Pet and top notch. The process of adoption is well thought out and they make it easy for families. Of course you need to qualify as it should be, so that pets get to the right homes. We adopted Sanday, kka Ruby and she is an absolute blast and wonderful loving dog. She thanks us every day for her rescue. The sanctuary also knew our dog’s personality to a T so all of the pluses (and few minuses from being neglected in her past) we were warned of. It gave us an honest understanding of what we are working with. Truly an amazing place and we couldn’t be happier. They are performing God’s work. Much love.

Great experience adopting our new family member. The staff was very helpful and always put safety first for both the dogs and people. They were very careful to make as sure as possible that our new dog was a good fit for us and that we were a good fit for the dog. The volunteers deserve a lot of credit for all they do.

The volunteers here are very welcoming and open to what each family can offer. I felt really comfortable and loved the walking trail that allows for a chance to get to know your new furry companion while taking a relaxing stroll together. The animals seem happy and well cared for and I am excited at the opportunity to add to our family.

Speak to your vet and have them do an exam asap after adopting from here as their vet is incompetent. We adopted a cat that we knew was sick but specifically asked multiple times if he needed medication so we could get it for him to be a healthy happy kitten he deserves to be they repeatedly said no he needs no medication and will kick it on his own we took him to our vet and he needed two different antibiotics and an immune support booster possibly has ringworm and polyp. I have reported to the sanctuary and their response was basically that sucks hope he feels better none of our animals have ring worm so its not on us yet he has seen no other animal since being adopted will never adopt another cat from the sanctuary again after previous positive experiences this new management seems incompetent to run this facility

My husband and I were looking to adopt a dog. We visited the Sanctuary at Haafsville and fell in love with a doggy named Cinnamon. They told us she had some health issues that they were still trying to figure out so they gave us the chance to foster her for a while to make sure we could handle it. We decided to sign the adoption papers a few weeks later! She’s already a great addition to our family and we are so grateful that Sanctuary at Haafsville allowed us to make sure she was a perfect fit!

This weekend we adopted our baby girl at the Sanctuary at Haafsville. What a great experience. You can tell how hard they work and how much they care for the animals under their care. If you’re looking to add a new member to your family I highly recommend you check out the Sanctuary.

The facility is clean, good atmosphere, great vibe!!! I really enjoyed my visit here and got a GORGEOUS new family nember sweet 'Tangles'? Can't wait to spoil her and enjoy her. I would Highly recommend the Sanctuary to anyone looking for their new addition to the family! The staff was so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the dogs and what we were looking for. They made the process of adding a second dog to our family so comfortable and easy! The team really cares about the animals and always tries to find the right fit for the animal AND the family. We had a tough go around prior to finding the Sanctuary and we are so lucky we found them. There’s not enough good things to say about this shelter and the volunteers/ workers that put all their time, effort and love into those animals! We love our Sanctuary pup and hope everyone finds their furever family member at the Sanctuary!!

I don't typically post reviews but as a first time experience trying to adopt from this rescue I would not recommend. When trying to make an appointment for a meet and greet the answer that I always got was we will see if somebody's available and somebody will contact you. They are only open Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00 and it's specifically sates if you need an appointment to call and twice I tried to get meet and greets nobody ever contacted me. We went last Saturday to see the dogs and we were interested in one and we were available the next day to come in for meet and greet so that we could bring our dog to make sure they got along. I even went a step further and had my current vet records all ready to go to hand to them. I wanted to get in there first as I didn't know if other people were interested and yet again nobody ever contacted me. It seems like they aren't too eager to make appointments and don't seem very professional in making sure you understand the adoption process and how it works. A dog before this I contacted them on a Tuesday to try and get a meet and greet before Saturday and yet again the answer I got was if somebody is available you will be contacted.. that almost takes away from "call to make an appointment" because I tried. I totally get that this rescue is volunteer based but even so, I will stick to rescues where they make you feel more welcome and eager to get you in to see the dogs other than one day a week for 4 hours where you can't even bring your dogs and have to set up another appointment for that and that's almost impossible.

My family and I finally went to this place over the weekend. it was very crowded and difficult to walk around in the cat room or even ask questions and the two times we did ask a question I felt the staff/ volunteers were not pleasant. the cat we were interested in was in foster care which was not listed on the website.so they showed us a different cat which did not look like the cat we went to see. None of the cats we looked at liked to be held or even touched. And the few cats we were interested in had medical issues and not adoptable. The cat trees also smell like cat urine. The small sanctuary was so busy that it made it very overwhelming for both animal and people. We then went to Montgomery county SPCA. We adopted an 8 month old stray that was already neutered (included in the $25 adoption fee). And he loved being held.Unfortunately because it was so busy at the sanctuary, we didn't even get to visit the dogs. They really should consider extending their hours, especially over the holiday. Five stars for being a no kill shelter.

Super friendly folks running this place. You can tell that they really care about the animals under their care. I had the most pleasant experience working with them in my adoption process. 10/10 would work with them again.

We worked with them to adopt a new kitten, and couldn't be happier with the experience. Everyone we worked with, especially Kristin, was extremely patient, helpful, and thorough throughout the process, and it was clear they care deeply for the animals they look after. Highly recommend for adopting a new friend, or for donating any animals that need to find homes.

My husband & I were the first to see & spend time with a dog who we wanted. We spent 1.5 hrs. with him. A worker there wanted us to take him home, but someone else said no. They waited & took many applications. Waited 10 days. They made excuse after excuse telling US what dog we should want. They are super picky & they broke our hearts.Never again will we go there! Made us feel not good enough to love & take care of the dog WE chose.
