I avoid Giant Eagle in general because they're expensive. But I do stop in for sales on meat and soda. This particular Giant Eagle in Belle Vernon smells horrible in the entire front of the store. I feel bad for their cashiers having to smell it all day. It's like a rotten or decomp smell... really bad. Always thought it was just me picking up on something because my sense of smell is pretty sensitive, but someone I work with said the same thing so it's legit

Best place around to get fresh seafood. Pharmacy is better than Walmarts

It was clean, well stocked, and well staffed. Only giving 4 stars because we went in there for canning supplies and couldn't find any.10/4/2023 update: Planet Oat creamer is on sale this week. However, they've only been keeping the French vanilla and sweet cream stocked. There is a tag for the caramel, but it hasn't been there any of the times I've checked this week.

Called and spoke with someone in the bakery because the online ordering did not have an option for Bavarian cream filling in the cake (the website shows this as an option). The lady on the phone was very nice and told me to just add in at the end in the bakery notes to ask for the Bavarian cream filling and told me to capitalize BAVARIAN CREAM. I did as she instructed, and the bakery still used buttercream icing. Very disappointing considering I called beforehand and followed the instructions given by the bakery department... I will not be bringing my business here again.

This store is tired and dated, this location needs to up its game to compete with neighboring locations within 30 minutes drive.None of the other amenities such as a salad bar and many of the products I can easily find at other locations are available here.Relocate the store in the same vicinity and preferably on a level lot to make it safer to unload your shopping cart so it doesn't roll away.

It's a good Giant Eagle. But I r could be better if they had more cashiers working and if they would stop price gouging in the meat department when there's a sale. I worked for a Giant Eagle until recently and our meat department isn't as expensive as Belle Vernon. Other wise it's petty good.

Great hometown grocery store in the very heart of Rostraver Twp. Always a great selection, especially at the deli counters.Very attentive staff.

Not my favorite Giant Eagle. Parking is usually hard to find and not level, making to very hard to unload a cart on your own. Good products always stocked. The bakery used to be my favorite but they limit what they put out and basket seem to always be empty.

Good variety of merchandise. Parking is sometimes tricky. Also, there are sometimes somewhat long lines as they usually only have a small number of registers open at a time, even when there are a lot of customers. This is a good place to visit if you are interested in fuel perks and the item(s) you are looking to purchase happen to be on sale. However, if you are in a hurry to get your shopping done, you might be better off going across the street to Wal Mart. Update November 2022: Same comments as before. However, I will note that the cashier who waited on me today was cordial and professional.

It's no Market District, but it gets the job done well enough. The store is stocked nicely with all kinds of products and looks aesthetically pleasing. Much better than Walmart.

I was trying to hold my buggy and put groceries in trunk the wind was really blowing hard. The kindest. young girl an eployee of giant eagle came over without me asking & held my buggy & I told her how much I appreciated it. It was so wonderful. This was 3-19 around 12:30

Most people who work there are kind and courteous to customers..and then there is the deli clerk who glares & acts like how dare you want items an hour and a half before they close that area. Whats the deal with that? New cashier was very friendly..as you should be when providing customer service, right?? Deli clerk needs to not hate her job or is it her life??!!

The older lady in seafood department was short and disrespectful. The young man was nice but didn't have a clue what he was doing. Cashier was VERY PLEASANT and kind.

Always have a great experience there. The staff is kind and helpful... always ready to answer any questions. Pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, checkout staff, stockers... no matter who it is... everyone is so nice and helpful. I really like to go to Giant Eagle. I prefer to come to Giant Eagle rather than to go to Walmart. Giant Eagle is a great place to shop.

The prices are too high, twice as much as Walmart for no reason. They never have enough cashiers at checkout either. I’m not hard to please, but this store is constantly understaffed. Many times they only have one person at checkout during busy times. I rarely have a positive experience here. It looks outdated also, especially its deli area. Other giant eagles have all kinds of options for fast fresh food. Not this one. The market district giant eagles are very updated, while this one looks like it’s stuck in the 80’s

I don't like the bonus program. I can't always get to gabs all the time. I feel when you earn the bonuses, they shouldn't expire. I've had several that has expired. Thinking about not going there anymore.

If I could give negative stars I could. Ran in to after having a asthma attack without a mask. I was asked if I needed a mask, I politely said no, I have COPD & continued on my way. The worker then said, without a mask we won't wait on you🤬 we can shop for you but you're going to have to leave. Assuming she was young & unaware how rude was truly being I continued toward the baby section when I realized I took my wallet out to get to my inhaler so I turned around to go back to grab it, when I was approached by yet another woman telling me the same BS as the 1st. SO SORRY I NEEDED MY INHALER TO BREATH!!!I'll shop elsewhere!disabled people aren't welcome in your store.(including having a medical condition that would excuse them from having to wear a face covering)

For a huge chaim around pgh, they got some of the hugest prices. They act like they are Trader Joe's with their prices but generally look like a walmart. Only thing they got good is the produce variety if you want to overpay like you are in LA

I stopped here to .get a money order to send off while I was out of town. I went to the service desk to .get help and they let me know that it. Would be how much I wanted to pay plus 79 cents . I let her know I would have to run to the atm to .get a few dollars out because I only had like 53 cent in change on top of my money order price. The lady said dont waste any fees getting more money out she covered the cost of the money order for me. Thank you for going above and beyond and excellent customer service.

I would give my experience here no stars if possible, but unfortunately Google requires I give at least one. Last night I ran in to Giant Eagle to get ketchup. Just that. One bottle of Heinz ketchup. I stood in line as one individual cashed out, and the lady directly in front of me began placing her items on the belt. Ryne, the cashier, scanned what seemed like 300$ worth of groceries for this lady, all of which is fine. I waited patiently. Now it is my turn. He scans my bottle of ketchup and as I’m waiting for the notice to pop up on the machine for me to swipe my card, Ryne says I need to pull my mask up more. I look at him, wondering why now has he asked me to pull up my mask. I complied to the rules. I waited in line for 10 minutes. He’s now scanned my item and I am waiting to pay for it. No, now is the moment he chooses to enforce his stores policy. I want to stress the word enFORCE here. Because, as I said, I was compliant so pulled my mask up further. Ryne again, slightly louder, tells me to pull my mask up further. At this point I was becoming irritated. I had my mask. It was covering my face. It was in my line of vision. I attempt to say “Just let me buy my stuff” but no sooner can I get it out, Ryne, the ever invested employee, shouts, SHOUTS, to the point of everyone in the store stopping what they’re doing and looking at me, the spectacle which has become my life in this moment, to “PULL YOUR MASK UP!” Never in my whole life has someone, a meager cashier no less, legitimately screamed at me, as well as interrupted me. His manager, a levelheaded lady, runs around and informs Ryne he can’t speak to me this way. I didn’t hardly have time to say anything before she was there. A very solid and wise move on her part. If only our Ryne had of been so insightful to realize that not everyone will tolerate his brutish behavior. I certainly won’t. I go home and tell my friend what has just happened to me and she says, “I know exactly who you’re talking about! That tall guy!” I said “yes, he’s really tall and his name is Ryne” and she said “I deliberately go to the giant eagle in donora because of him. He’s so rude to me every time I see him that I don’t shop there anymore.” As if the world isn’t crazy enough, as if our nerves aren’t frayed enough, as if life in general weren’t hard enough, I can’t even buy a bottle of ketchup without some snot nose, disrespectful, punk YELLING at me in the middle of the store? Make no mistake, I was polite. I wore my mask. I wore it properly. And I made a point to point out another customer to the manager lady whose mask was barely hanging on to his upper lip. Mine was covering my face! Perhaps it had slid down a bit, but unfortunately I can’t see my own face. The way this man acted is disgusting and he should be ashamed and fired. I wouldn’t allow someone like that with that temperament to operate amongst the public if I were the manager there. Honestly, if he had acted so irrationally with someone else, someone not as calm as I, a legitimate altercation could have erupted. As I said this young brat is very tall, and he looked down at me to intimidate. Well, I’m not intimidated, I’m mad. He’s ruining the reputation of his store, and as I’ve told my friends this story I’ve discovered TWO of them who don’t shop there because of this cashier specifically. I wonder how many others no longer patronize this grocery store because of this individual. I think it’s time to reevaluate which one of your associates can and cannot deal with the public. There is someone who would appreciate that job and would be polite and courteous to your patrons. Don’t lose business over some tween with a nasty attitude. It’s time he learned a lesson.
