I love this shop so much. I legit don't buy from other places if I don't have to. They're very caring towards all their animals and are so open and willing to help you if you have any issues with your animal. I'm literally always telling people about Off the Hook.From what I know it's family owned and operated. Everyone is incredibly nice and friendly, as well.

I came in asking questions about my daughter gecko. Got honest answers and went back and they set my home for the gecko. Fantastic shop won't go anywhere again. My daughter is already planing her next pet and we look forward to coming back soon!

This place is epic. So many reptile, turtle, fish, birds etc. they have tanks and accessories and plants and pet foods. They have two parrots that are so beautiful sitting in the center of the store they have such a good life it seems. Staff is so funny and nice! Got 4 snails for our beta fish tank . Def will be back it’s like a small zoo!

I hate posting negative reviews, but I also hate seeing 50+ betta fish housed together in a single dirty tank and completely torn up. They had multiple tanks that contained dozens of bettas. They have a great variety of animals, but I’d prefer a smaller selection if it meant a better quality of life.

Off the hook exotic's is an awesome pet shop for those of us who like a little crazy in our lives! They have lots of everything to fill your exotic needs!I attended the youngwood reptile expo and they had a booth set up. There i found 2 beautiful redtailed boa's and i was not expecting to buy more snakes but my daughter fell in love with the 2 they had that were rescues! They allowed me to put some cash down to hold these 2 boa's and 2 weeks later i picked them up! They were very polite and helpful i so much appreciate everything! My daughter and i are very thankful and pleased with everything! We will definitely be returning in the future!

I was looking for a Neon Blue Gourami for a long while. I went to this place a month or so back and noticed they had one, but I did not buy it then. After my tank was ready for the fish I called them, unfortunately they did not have any. I kept up to date with them, calling them a few times and each time they were always understanding and patient with me. They ended up having someone who had one left and they managed to get it and hold it for me. I could not possibly explain how excited I was when I heard the news! I got to the store the day of, they were very kind and nice, even helping me with a filter issue. The fish they gave now besides being a bit stressed that caused his blue to go away (understandable) is pretty healthy. I am sure once the fish gets used to his new environment his color will come right back! He swims very well, and I am very glad that I went to this store to find him!

I boarded my turtle for 38 days while on vacation. They took good care of him, they are very reptile knowledgeable and very caring. I also purchased leaf litter there for my hermit crabs. I will definitely take my turtleback when I go on vacation again.

Does anyone know what breeder/breeders the leopard geckos come from? No one really seemed very experienced with the geckos. I got my leopard gecko a couple months ago and I'm trying to figure out how old she is and all I'm being told is she is a juvenile. Its frustrating because she isn't eating everyday and when I took her to the vet they said that it could be another 6 months before I know what gender it is. Any helpful information would be great.Thanks

The blue hippo tang came from this store. The owner even said if I have fish that don't get along that I could bring them in an they would give me store credit for the fish. This is very helpful as well.

It’s been about a month or so since I brought Taco, my bearded dragon, from Off the Hook Exotics. The experience was amazing from start to finish. I had so many questions, and they were all answered with zero judgement. I ended up getting everything I need for an extremely reasonable price. Two things that stuck out to me were 1) the willingness to educate an admittedly newbie to the reptile world without making me feel stupid and 2) the genuine care you can tell they have for these animals. I would 100% recommend (and have been) to anyone who has an interest in exotic pets.

Very professional and helpful But really overpriced. ( one neon tetra and a molly $15.00) Also the store smells so bad if your like me you may have a hard time staying. It’s really gross in there too. The tanks were very cloudy and it was just not a place that I’d wanna return without a lot of updates. And cleaning.

Walked in because I love exotic animals, it was an amazing experience. Felt no pressure to buy anything, which was nice. At other exotic pet stores I've gone to the workers won't talk to you about an animal unless you are going to buy it, or if they do they are very annoyed but the workers here genuinely love answering questions and educating you. I am a bird owner and was so pleased to see how happy theirs were. They do have parrots that at first glance are in rough shape (can be alarming if you aren't educated on birds) but they are rescues and it's obvious they are on the mend and happy birds. Was thrilled to see that just as much care is put into the smaller birds as well. I bought a parakeet to bring home to my flock of four (now five) and she was so easy to tame and train, so they clearly interact with their birds often. I'm not nearly as educated on reptiles but from my basics as a vet tech student they are well taken care of and their environments are full of enrichment too, which is awesome to see at a store. Would go back and refer friends to this store as well

This place was awesome!!! My son loves reptiles and birds... He was in heaven! The people are so nice and full of information! My oldest son loved conversating with her about all sorts of animals. Very knowledgeable. We will be back for more mice for our snake!

I had searched multiple Pet stores to find a Finch for my lonely Society Finch who lost its bestie a few weeks back. A friend suggested this shop to me-thank goodness as it didn't show up in my Google searches. The store was very clean and they appeared to have a lot of healthy good looking pets there. The employee quickly caught me a Finch and I was on my way. Currently shes still separate-but close-to my Finch and they are chirrping away. She is beautiful and seems like a vibrant, healthy bird. I'm excited for them to share a cage soon.

Lots of varities of animals my kids loved it. Some things are pricey and some are awesome prices. The employees are very helpful and talkative. Got 1 of my snakes there as a baby and shenhas grown wonderful and ate wondeful did so well coming home. If you love fish reptilea birds turtles spiders skins i highly recommend them. And anytime you want to amaze your kid stop in and show them the alligator,turtles the birds and they will be so excited and have a smile the entire time.

I've been meaning to stop by for a while to look around for tarantula enclosure supplies but never got the chance and now I won't bother.I came across their table at the Pittsburgh Mega Reptile Expo this last weekend. I was looking for a juvenile/subadult Aphonopelma chalcodes. I tried as best I could to spot any signs of a mature male (which I didn't want) but couldn't because the cups they were in were so condensated.I bought one for $50 and was so disheartened to get him rehoused and discover he was a mature male. First thing he did was lay down a sperm mat and start trying to wander out. Fine, named him Grimm (for he would meet the reaper soon enough) and thought I could at least give him a nice home for a year or so. Well, I'm even more disappointed to report that he obviously matured out a long time ago. I found him dead exactly 7 days after buying him.For those who don't know, a mature male will die in usually less than 1 year after they molt into maturity. This one lasted only a week.That means one of two things:1. This shop knowingly sold a very old mature male, with full knowledge they were ripping someone off at an expo.Or2. They don't know enough about the animals they're selling to be responsibly caring for them to begin with.Either scenario is unfortunate and I won't bother coming round here and do not recommend them for this reason. If you know nothing about tarantulas, stay in your lane, Off The Hook.

I just want to give s shout out to George and his staff. I had a sick baby iguana I bought somewhere else which was stupid and they took it in and offered me a healthy one at a discount. I now have a beautiful healthy blue baby. I own four reptiles off you guys now all healthy and doing great. This place is also just fun to walk in and see everything. They never make you feel stupid they will teach you anything. I have learned my lesson I will always buy from Off the hook. Thank you guys so much.

Great place to shop for your pet needs. The Owners and Employees are eager to answer questions and show you different things. Educational. They know a lot about exotic pets and will occasionally post information on certain animals on tik Tok. Just great people.

The staff are very nice and give you a lot of time and attention. Unfortunately, snakes I purchased there in February 2023 ended up having mites. They were younger and I didn’t know they had them until 1 died about a month later. Took the other to the vet, and it couldn’t be saved. The mites infested my other snakes and had an expensive vet bill. Hoping there’s no more deaths.

Recently my roommate received 3 Veil Chameleons for free. They let us bring them in to give them a checkup and gave us advice on how to raise them better. Workers are knowledgeable and approachable. They also have an alligator which blew my mind. Definitely will be back, this is my new favorite pet store.

These guys are the best! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Clean tanks/cages. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the place in general. We only got an axolotl, but we'll definitely be back!
