Maybe whoever is I'm charge should think of retraining their employees on how to speak to customers politely. Or maybe they were a manager and got high on power or something?I just got home from a trip to this DG with my 2 year old. It was a nice day out, so I decided that we would walk to get some fresh air. Him in the stroller, me on foot, obviously.As soon as we step in to the store, he starts crying. He's two. What can you do, right?So I quickly grab a few items and head to self check out. As an overshare so maybe whoever reads this can understand- I am diagnosed PTSD, and Anxiety among other things. So if I can, I actively avoid strangers.I have 6 items in my basket. Chicken nuggets, a stuffed crust pizza, lemon shortbread cookies, a gallon of 2$ milk, lobster bites, and a 6oz fruit punch.Considering that I've never heard of a self check out counter having an item limit that actually prevents the scanning of anymore than the listed item amount, I chose to ignore the 5 items or less sign, thinking that 1 more item shouldn't hurt anything, and I could get myself and my screaming child out of the store faster.As I'm passing the first register, the cashier calls out "I can take you here." I see another woman with items in her hands squeeze past me, so I assumed she was talking to her.Apparently not because two items scanned in, and the cashier pops over to me, counts my items and with all the attitude she can muster says "yeah, this is a five items or less self check out and you CLEARLY have six. That's why I said I would take you over here."Being terrified of confrontation, I mumbled "sorry, I just didn't want anyone else to have to deal with him crying." Gesturing to my upset 2 year old.Without a lick of kindness in her voice your employee said, again, with as much snark as she could muster-"well it's not like we can't hear him throughout the whole store anyways.".....Are you actually kidding me???What did I do to upset her to deserve that kind of shot?I SHOULD HAVE just dropped my items and walked tf out. But I wanted my son to have his juice. So I shut my mouth, let her finish scanning my items and left with literal tears in my eyes.Look- I get it. I broke a rule. 5 items or less. Cool. But I honestly didnt think that ONE item would cause someone to be that rude....It's hard enough being a parent already, and I know, I chose to be a parent. But having employees of a place I'm spending my hard earned money GUILT ME about my sons crying and make me feel like trash for just wanting to limit my human interaction is pretty messed up.Maybe "how to speak nicely to customers" training courses should be added..... or maybe hire nicer people ffs.

We brought 5 items to check out. 2 were clearance items which were ticketed 90¢ but rang up at $1.80. The third item was marked $1.00 with a 25% discount sticker attached. It rang up as $1.00. The young man asked the co-worker who obviously was in charge about this. She mumbled they can pay the amount that came up or take the items off. We did not purchase these items. False advertising & rude treatment! Won't come back here again.

This place has the most miserable employees. I Shipped a FedEx package there and the cashier didn’t know how to do it and called over the manager. Manager made a comment under her breath and said “omg they just keep coming in” (referring to the long line of people behind me). I Asked if they had a slip I could put my label in and boy were they irritated. The cashier Said no we don’t do that here and that I have to tape the label on myself (which is completely fine but her tone was so rude). Got out of line to grab tape, came back, and they took my package. I Asked for my receipt and the manager said you don’t get one, that’s what the tracking label is for. I Asked to take a picture of my label so I would have it to track and she threw my package at me. Just a bunch of nasty people.

I love this place! We weren't in line too long before another register opened. We noticed they are working harder to keep the store stocked and the aisles clear, which is a big thing for me, especially if the store is already crowded!

The store was very large and clean. They seemed understaffed, however the staff that were there were very nice even if they didn't know where anything was in the store, leaving me to find everything myself. The prices don't seem much different from a larger retail store. The location is easy to get to with a small parking lot that seems to too service everyone just find as most people seem to walk as there is hardly more than 3 cars in the lot any time I have ever gone there.

If i could give zero stars i would!!! This place is always a mess and cluttered! There will be 5 employees on the floor and 1 on the register with a line all the way to the back of the store. When customers ask if anyone can help, the workers will get nasty and call for the next person to help instead of them. I live in this town but i have no problem with driving to the next DG to give business. This store really needs managing help or else i don’t see it lasting very long. P.S there will be a new DG opening not to far from this one and i can see the new one taking all of their customers

I love the convenience of the dollar general stores, but wish they were able to keep employee's better. Half of them around here never have things stocked, or in stock though. Other then that they are great.

The employees really try their best to keep the store organized and stocked. If there is ever a line they work quickly to get everyone taken care of.

Ugh. Horrible. Great place to get mugged though.As well as buying inexpensive laundry detergent (of which the actual unit cost still far exceeds what you would get at any recognizable retail outlet). But, it is still in an even dollar amount. So you can't lose!Assuming you survive the mugging.

This store is a total MESS all the time. Rolltainers block almost EVERY aisle. When I was in this last time it was really bad. Trash on the floors! An accident waiting to happen. Its an inner city store thats very busy and NEEDS more help to recover and put truck away. I gave it 2 stars because overall I really like dollar general. Their sister stores in the area are great. Ambridge needs attention

Went to the dollar general in Ambridge pa was 15 people deep the only cashier needed help and the other employee never came to help ended up walking out. Sad to say that store is the worst one I was in so cluttered and dirty. And I love dollar general

This was a great little store, but anymore, every time I go in, they have 7 to 8 carts full of new product that needs put away and is blocking all of the current product on the shelves. The funny thing is, a lot of times the line will go into the aisles and you will see people who are putting away product instead of ringing out customers, but none of the product ever gets fully put away by the end of the shifts. Not to mention, they play whatever music they want to with no consideration that kids are in and out of there all the time. I'm sure that is not approved by corporate. Also, like I mentioned earlier, there are many carts that need to have product put on the shelves and that being said there are a lot of empty shelves here too. The shelves look like a bad storm is coming through and they were wiped out of all the essentials. The only reason this place gets two stars is because of the one employee that I think seems to care the most and he's an old man with glasses. Once I figure out his name I'll revise this review

A handy place to stop for convenience without the high convenience store prices. Sometimes extremely busy and not enough associates in the store. The employees are friendly and helpful. I think the store is a little small. Sometimes it is understocked.

I went to my local Dollar General on 12/31/20 in Ambridge,pa 15003.To my great disappointment the store had allowed numerous customers to walk through out the store without a face mask even though each register and the front door had a visible sign that said customers must wear a mask. So I brought up the fact that there were numerous customers currently in the store not wearing masks to the cashier.She replied “Tell it to my Manager “. This should concern us all.COVID don’t discriminate.

Surprisingly clean stop given its location. Was able to find everything with little effort. Everything there is about the same as any other dollar store. Was able to find sales on stuff for pasta so I was happy with my visit.

This location is so cluttered, always wait in long lines. Employees are not helpful and don't know much about products when you ask them. They also are rude when you ask them something, as if it is not in their job description. I would rather go to the next one close by even though it is wasting my gas. :(.

This is the dirtiest store that I have ever been in, the aisles are constantly blocked, and the staff is downright rude and lazy, and the management is terrible. I thought when they built the new store that it would be nice, but I was totally wrong. One star is too good for this store!

Lines are long and the cashiers take forever to ring you out in the moring .also walked down the dog food isle and seen a lady stuffing items down her pants .and carts are always stacked in the isles in boxes that need to be put on shelves ,hard to walk around and shop with a shopping cart when you cant get through the ilses to shop.i would spend alot more money there if i could actully shop around !!

The cashier was very rude to my 5 and 6 year old boys for picking up and looking at a toy that i told them they had to put back. Cashier yelled at rhem and told them dont touch unless you have money to buy it.

No jewelry. Plenty of Christmas supplies before Halloween, but no hats or gloves. Stopped in because I was out of my town, and forgot those items and earrings while packing. Accustomed to seeing it at others in the chain. Disappointed in the lack of consistency.
