A wide variety of animals and accessories in stock. Today we were looking for live aquarium plants. We have a shake pins and transferred our shallow pond goldfish inside to preserve them over the winter and we decorated it with the plants and swim house you see here. Always reasonable prices. It's great to have this place near us to find goodies we need!

The store was clutter and had to move big carts with stacks of food on then to get the item I needed. Also the only reason I even went to the store was to replace a expired bag of dog food that was derived that week from an online order. The food expired on 02/18/2024 and received it on 04/09/2024. Order number:131465852615510. This is the second time this happened when ordering online for home delivery. Will be buying my pet food else where from here on out.

Went to the Vet Clinic for my cat and dog their shots. Very pleasant. My animals were not fearful and were handled with great care.I will be getting all my pets their shots and wellness checks there.I went to the one on Serria in Altoona.Great caring staff.

I drove over and hour to get some electric blue acaras and rainbowfish to put in a tank together. They wouldn't let me get them both because they said they went compatible, even though I had been doing research for over 2 months on fish for my tank, while it was going though the nitrogen cycle. I ended up getting the 4 electric blue acaras since they are more rare. Within the first 24 hours at home: one of the fish looks like they are going to die (heavy breathing and laying on the bottom), one has a portion of its side fin bitten off (I noticed it at Petco, but still got it), and the other 2 have a white fungus. The tank is currently being treated with stress coat and a fungus treatment. Over all I'm really unhappy with Petco. I know for sure none of these conditions are my fault since I have already had a Blood Parrot, 3 Austrian Rainbows, 4 Kiwi Loaches, and 2 Plecos in the tank for over a month.Update:3 of the 4 acaras have died the last one is looking good though, but we will see.

Clean you frag tank! I went there the other day looking or some corals. There's hair algae throughout the whole tank, and you're asking top $ for less than well cared for frags. After seeing frag tank, we walked out. I didn't even want fish from there

I am speechless of how good this Petco is with their service AND also at taking care of their animals. Their fish department is SUPER CLEAN, especially the saltwater section and the coral frag tank.*I didn't take any photos there, but these are from TJ Rowe on YouTube*

My daughter's favorite place to go, they have a good selection of pets, fish, and pet supplies. This is moki her bearded dragon she bought from petco altoona, moki will be 2 in August

The store was starting to get their Christmas toys/clothing out which looked like a nice display. The isles were well stocked. The one sales associate we ran into was pleasant and asked if we need help, which you don’t get too much anymore.The big shocker for me came at check out, when we were asked if we wanted a bag for 10cent. I thought the cashier was talking about a reusable bag not a plastic bag. I was surprise to see a store chain was charging for plastic bags now, or maybe it was just this store. I am glad my wife and I only bought a few things and were able to carry the items out.

I got a beta here and my son loves it ! I was short on time but needed help right away to find a fish an or some other pet for my sin and didn't have much time to make a choice an so the staff were very kind and understanding they came to the rescue and helped me pick my little beta thats now part of the family I got in an out as fast as I needed to with exactly what I was looking for ! Highly recommended!!!

Purchased the sweetest long haired hamster for my daughter. Petco has everything we need for her, and the associates were extremely helpful with assisting and answering every question that I had. She now lives in a 75 gallon enclosure to have enough space.

Amazing your other store sold me the snake with no issues. Training on laws on refusal of sale. Because denying a person the ability to purchase something because of product availability not the snakes availability .$100 snake but can’t get it unless you have the choice of the employees cage $200 + .when asked if I needed help told them only help needed was getting the snake this practice I’m rather sure brakes the consumer protection acts and refused to identify themselves btw the tank I tried to purchase was 2 times the size of the tank and had 2 less snakes …. And to be told by young adult that she thinks I’ll kill it in a week… this was an experience that left me contacting corporate . I’m sry but your apology means little . If this is how you practice your business Told it’s a policy! For that store. Yup I’m going to dig a lil farther on this question are these policy made public? Or only when your employees can’t make an upscale due to product availability and accused I will kill him. Because I didn’t want their help! And was politely said the first time.wow after reviewing your own policy they broke the all of them twice

Every time I go to this petco they have stuff to stock on the shelves piled around the birds! The poor things can’t even see out. How are they to get sold and go to a home if no one can see them past the boxes? I wish I could upload a video, so I took some screen shots of the video. I circled the bird where I tired to film between the cage and the boxes. I circled the bird so you could see it better. I feel so bad for the birds… it’s cruel!

Went in looking for a fish that eats algae, after walking around the place for about 20 mins looking for someone to help me I'm told the fish I'm interested in can't be sold to me cause I am putting it with goldfish (I did my research before going in) that it's against their policy. As I looked through every tank multiple times it was clear to me it wasn't against their policy to not accurately care for any of the fish as each tank had easily 3 or more fish in them that were dead with the other fish eating it.. yea won't be going to experience that place anymore.

My dog did look and smell better after the appointment, but it wasn’t worth the price. Her hair is choppy, her nails are rough and sharp, and the extra I paid for her itching only worked for about a day. The staff seemed nice although I had to wait for someone to be at the counter twice.

The manager was very nice. He helped me save alot of money on flea medicine by signing up for their store card (rewards card). It was free and didn't take long to get one.

I recently got a hamster for my son here. The woman that helped us was extremely knowledgeable about the pets. She made sure that we had everything we needed before even selling it. She told us about certain things that could go wrong and what to do if it does. She was very concerned for its safety. Very helpful associate

Went to grab some stuff for my daughter's new fish. It was close to closing time and I forgot my wallet. They held it until I could run home and get back just as they were closing. I felt the customer service was on point. I'm giving 5 stars for the attention and willingness to help I was given.

Nice store but not much merchandise to choose from. Totally out of frozen mice and rats. Not very good selection of other critters. Had to drive all the way to the other store on Osgood drive. Also if you want a bag it's 10 cents!!!!

Note: I have had 3 hamsters prior to this that have survived 1yr - over 2 years.I purchased a teddy bear hamster from this Petco location on November 5th, I had a habitat, bedding, water, and recommended food for her, and she passed away a week later from wet tail. I got a new hamster from this location January 20th along with habitat, food, etc., and she passed away yesterday January 28th from wet tail. Ten minutes after I first had taken her home I noticed she had diarrhea and called the petco and they said she was just stressed, only for her to die a week later from wet tail. Today I called the petco and asked if they could do anything about it since 2 hamsters I bought from there died and had a disease and they were not helpful and simply stated that they deal with their hamsters having wet tail often at that petco. Do not buy animals from here, they do not take proper care of them, very disappointing.

The only complaint I ever have with shopping in the store is they are always out of the 2 items I buy the most. They do carry them online, however only by the case which ends up being too expensive for me; in the store I can buy just a few at a time as I only have 3 dogs that are between 5 and 8 pounds each and to buy a case is more than what I need for 2 week’s time. Other than that, I like the variety of items to browse for my dogs and they have good deals on clearance items, not to mention the weekly specials allow me to get different things that I wouldn’t normally buy at full price. And the rewards program and coupons they occasionally send through my email help me save money as well.

The cashier was friendly and apologized for the wait. She was trying to chip scan a dog and the scanner didn’t appear to be working. She also asked for help at register and was trying to help me access my account.Your prices are too high and I do NOT like the “re-stocking” fee placed on returns!! You’re the only game in town in Altoona and you take advantage of it!!
